Olympic athlete turned secret agent Dayna Duncan always plays to win. Her assignment to guard an international sports sensation would be no different. Then the one man who could throw Dayna off her game appears. Fighter pilot Luke Harper never did play fair....Years ago, knowing that he could jeopardize her shot at the gold, Luke broke things off with Dayna. Now he's back...for keeps. Even as Dayna tries to resist the man she believes chose his career over her, reigniting passion adds fuel to an explosive conspiracy that could end this match, once and for all.
After a 23-year AF career, Colonel Merline Lovelace launched a second career as a writer, basing many of her tales on her own experiences in uniform and on her travels all around the globe.
The USA Today best-selling author now has more than 11 million copies of her books in print. Her works have won numerous awards, including the Romance Writers of America's prestigious RITA. Merline is especially proud to have been named the University of Oklahoma's Writer of the Year and the Oklahoma Female Veteran of the Year.
Match Play by Merline Lovelace is the twelfth in the Code Name: Danger series from Silhouette Romantic Suspense but stands alone just fine (I read it without having read any of the others in the series). In it, secret operative Dayna Duncan has the chance to exercise her athletic side when her next assignment is to guard a golf star. She's one cool character who's honed her game face over years of public events, including several Olympic wins. Of course the one who can possibly rattle her is her ex, fighter pilot Luke Harper.
Merline Lovelace deftly juggles the page-turning plot while giving us the chance to see whether these two have a fighting chance this time around. Great storytelling!
OUTSTANDING! Luke and Dayna make a good team and I hope to see more of them in this series but more important secondary characters Gillian Ridgeway and Hawk are headed for a showdown. This series just continues to impress me.
I don't understand golf, but I love the thrill given by the description and surrounding.
The fast-paced story and the mission; but at the end I don't expect it to be ended that abruptly. But, as there are series to this novel, maybe I could hope to read about them in other book..
