The Titan's Saga #1

Releasing the Gods

Rate this book
It all started with a dare.

A single dare on Maisey Parker's 21st birthday and her entire life changed.

One second she was getting drunk with her friends, and the next she was climbing a cliff, cutting her hand, and accidentally offering a blood sacrifice that opened a thousand year old prison. A prison that contained the only living Titan. One too powerful to kill. One that wants nothing to do with being attached to Maisey.

Cronus has an old score to settle with the Greek Pantheon. Lucky she has some sick days saved up at work, because Maisey is dragged along whether she likes it or not. A decision Cronus no doubt regretted right around the time she makes a colossal mistake, unleashing an untold evil on the world.

Now they're in a race against the clock to resurrect the other Titans, the only beings who can contain the evil. They're the world's last hope. And Maisey's.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Can Contain Spoilers*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

I was a little uncertain about reading this one when I read the blurb. The Instagram obsession made me think that the main character will be immature. However, the book started out strong. The main character mentioned Instagram a couple of times, but her main thing was hashtags in her head so she didn't seem quite so immature. As I mentioned above; the book started out strong but slowly because less. And this was all because of the relationship between Maisy and Cronus. I love hate turned love stories and I thought this was what we were gonna get, but it didn't feel like it at all. Cronus started to care for Maisy too soon in my opinion. I won't even bother with mentioning how fast Maisy started to care. I wanted more buildup in their relationship. That said, the story itself was interesting, though predictable. I liked it, I did, I just wanted something more out of it. I wish that in the first book, they'd become enemies to friends and then the romance can start in book two...

Characters:
The list is long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

The Nine Sins:
Were once upon a time gods: the nine gods were lesser deities who discovered that evil was more powerful to them than whatever they were before.
▶ The first sin - Sickness. The world will manifest a virus, or something of that nature, and it will spread like wildfire.
▶ The second and third sin - Turmoil and Strife. One will create disturbances and confusion, and the second will take that confusion and turn it into conflict. This is the beginning of a world war.
▶ The forth and fifth sin - Jealousy and Famine. Those two have always been Hyperion's favorites to destroy.
▶ The six and seventh sin - haven't been mentioned yet.
▶ The eight and nine - Fire and Death. At full power, they have no equal. At full power, the world will burn, and every living thing will die.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Upper YA/NA) Fantasy Mythology.
Series: - Series, Book One.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Cronus.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Sure.
Will I read this again in the future? - Unsure.
Rating - 3.5/3 stars.

So quick rundown- in this book we have Maisy, our main character, who is drunk and partying on her 21st birthday when she takes a dare to climb up to a seemingly haunted cave.
While on the climb she cuts her hand, and inside the cave she accidentally unleashes the Titan of all Titans Cronus. Now finding herself bound to the big ole battle god she has to stick to him like glue and try to keep them from both being killed by the other Greek gods....and to possibly try and stop the Apocalypse.

With that out of the way lets talk about how annoying the characters were. I mean I know that the h is a fictional character...but in what world is a 21 year old in 2019 unironically saying #YOLO??

description

An entire book where the h thinks in hashtags wasn't cute or quirky it was throughly annoying. Not to mention the obsession with selfies and 'doing it for the 'Gram' I mean, yeah there are probably a lot of people out there who really want to make it a career, but the author just made Maisy seem kind of shallow about it all.

description

And I know its a fantasy book, but I mean who talks like this?

“It’s the age of social media, dude,” I said, trying to lighten the mood in here before he killed me.

I will admit that Maisy did kind of grow on me...but not the hashtags man. But hey the deadly sins storyline is kind of interesting, so maybe ill read the next one? Its kind of a mixed bag.
Also, the only thing that made me laugh though was when she punched Zeus in the dick. So maybe my maturity level isn't exactly something to write home about.

This girl needs to stop with mental hashtags its messing with my brain

Like c’mon be smarter than this, stop being like other girls.

Plot
The plot is the exact same as all the other romance and fantasy books out there. Girl is SpEsHuL and NoT LIkE OthEr GirLS therefore attracts the love interest because he has never meet anyone like her. Think I'm wrong? Prove me wrong I dare you.
But because this author alongside the main character is NoT LiKE OThER AUthOrs she decided to throw a spanner in the works and in my opinion is the worst thing that you could do to a book aside from character death. And that is the age of social media. She did not have to make the main character obsessed with Instagram. In fact it made the whole novel worse. And in 20 years or so time what if Instagram is the equivalent of Facebook? All the younger people will read this book and be like “who the fuck uses Instagram these days? What a grandma”
Not a good choice Leia Stone.
So the plot is just the same where some supernatural occurrence makes it so they have to work together and fall in love radyradyraaaa.
Although I do like the conflict idea and how it was executed.

Cronus
We all know I have a thing for emotionally unavailable, morally gray men. Wait, we all do so I think I speak for all when I say that this man is the reason I loved this book so much. He is that stereotype where he is grumpy and shit but when you get to know him he is as cuddly as a big teddy bear. Do you hear me complaining?
No. Not at all.

Maisy
*slaps this bitch in the face*

This girl got on my nerves so much. She was such a Im NOt LiKE OTheR girls it hurt my brain, luckily Cronus was there to make it all better.
Who in the 7 billion people in this world think in hashtags?
#NotMe
See what I did there?
*laughs at one self*
I think that Cronus should fall in love with someone else like me *cough cough* and not this bitch who’s whole personality revolves around Instagram.

Despite my hate for Maisy and how unoriginal the plot is I still thouorly enjoyed every page. And at the end…..THE END, I was nearly in tears and I could feel the pain alongside Maisy.

Well I’m off now to eat and play mini golf.
Peace out

Book 1

I didn’t love it. And it hurts me to say that because I absolutely love these authors. The storyline is good, the slow burn romance is frustratingly ok, the characters could be better. I’m sorry I wasn’t that big of a fan of the main female lead. Way too many hashtags where it just comes off as annoying, shallow, and young. I felt like they tried to make her image a little on the shallow side throughout and then peppered her with courageous characteristics where it made her seem like there was more to her (which there is) but I just can’t get down with all her #lifegoals and how she has to hashtag every freaking emotion. Maybe this was geared toward a younger generational crowd but it just got annoying and monotonous. Otherwise I really enjoyed the storyline and what a fresh perspective it brings. I can’t wait to read the next one!

Sometimes I don't read a book's blurb or check its tags. That's how I ended up reading half of this book thinking this was going to be the first book in a reverse harem series. In my defense, this cover screams RH so you know... it's not my fault ahah. When I found out it was a MF romance, I was a little disappointed but I was enjoying the ridiculousness of this book.

I have to say, if the main character would stop mentioning the "gram" or hashtags at every page, that would be lovely. Because yes at first, it's a little funny but it gets old very quickly.

As for the plot, it clearly won't be for everyone but I had fun reading for the most part. She woke up a Titan and got tied up to him because of a life debt. After that, her clumsiness happened and the nine sins were released, threatening humanity. Cronus and her are trying to get everyone back in order to stop them.

I might read the next book. Who knows?

Wow. Okay. So...

A really enjoyable book, with a nice blend of magic, mythology, romance and action.

The Plot: Maisey is a girl who is a massive social media star, and she aspires to expand her social media influence. After a dare from her friends, she explores a cave they said was scary or haunted or whatever, and her blood accidentally freed a Titan from the cave where he was trapped. His name was Cronus, and he wants to take revenge on the Greek gods for killing and imprisoning his family.

So you thought this book was going to be about revenge, huh? Well no, because on the way, Maisey accidentally opened the Pandora’s box, where the nine deadly sins got out and are going to destroy the world. In order for the world not to be destroyed, they have to awaken the family of the Titans in order to put them all back.

Good stuff: The romance was really good, it wasn’t instant, it was raw and gritty but not to the point that you wouldn’t enjoy their back-and-forth exchanges, from love to arguments. It was well done. The main character was quite likeable, and Cronus was just an amazing love interest and second MC. All the other titans were funny (apart from Rhea), and they all felt like one big family around each other.

I also loved the different play on the traditional Greek mythology. Most of the stories state that the Titans were evil, and the gods were good. In this book, it was the other way around. In most of the stories, Rhea was sweet and lovely, in this one, she is a downright bi—

Anyway, so yeah, really refreshing read and interesting.

Less good stuff, but still okay: Okay, so Maisey, being a social media girl, constantly uses hashtags throughout the book. (Cronus got injured? #Ouch Something like that, anyway). I found them quite irritating to read and felt like it interrupted the narrative.

I thought that the main focus of the book got lost a bit. It was meant to be Cronus extracting revenge against the gods. But the gods weren’t actually portrayed to be that bad, (apart from Zeus), so the lines blurred a bit and I was left feeling a little confused, but that was only a teeny bit.

#DNF

There aren't many Jaymin Eve books I DNF, but when I do, it's usually when she's writing the series with another author. This is the second series I've DNF'ed by her after Storm Princess. It's tragic because I am absolute trash for the audible narrator Vanessa Moyen. She is my absolute fave and can make almost any sub-mediocre stories at least 3 stars for me, but alas.

Maisy the hashtag Queen was just far too shallow for me. Maybe, it's because of my personal belief that Instagram influencers shouldn't be a career and it's based on being self-obsessed and making everyone feel bad that their life isn't as perfect as your fake-displayed perfect life, ah I degress.

I just didn't vibe with Maisy or he-man Kronos. There was no chemistry from the beginning. I'm not just talking about romantic chemistry, but even the chemistry required to truly hate someone. Instead, she's more of an insignificant human who he's tied to. And that does not a good story make, unfortunately.

Maisy goes along for the ride because she has to, but honestly, every boring thought in her head is almost always about how she can get more followers for the gram. Everything she does is for the gram and I couldn't stand it. I read fantasy to take me out of the real world, and while I don't mind it sprinkled here or there- and find it funny once in a while when mentioned, I want fantasy to be about other problems in life. Ones I may (ok probably will never ever) encounter- but Maisy? It's like her whole problem is she doesn't have enough gram followers-I'm sorry- that's like too much reality and shallowness for me.

Maybe, I assume at least, she gets better farther into the series, but I cannot wait that long. This reads more like a teen novel, but honestly, I don't know any teens who speak in hashtags, so Idk who the audience is. My rating for this book is #justNO

Interesting premise but too fast-paced and too many f-ing hashtags.

The hashtags made me feel like the book was juvenile and lowered my reading experience. Also what normal person thinks in so many hashtags?!

I would have also liked the pace of the book to have been slowed down so that the build of the relationship between the main characters was more fleshed out. This would have also given Maise more time to have genuine emotions. There was no real emotional struggle in the book. There was no substantial building to emotional acceptance that gods are real, that the world is ending, and that her life may or may not be in danger etc.

And since I am making a wish list, I would have also like to have seen a Cronus POV.

Overall, I think I wanted a fantasy story to really sink my teeth into and become emotionally connected to the characters and unfortunately this book was not it. The story is enjoyable but honestly, this is not a book that I see myself reading over again (like my other favorite books) to get lost in the story/world of the book. It could have been more. I see the potential in this story. But sadly this book did not rise to the occasion which is why I am let down. Hopefully, book 2 will get better and give me a little more of what I am looking for? We'll have to see.

Mythology meets blonde bimbo.

This is the first book by Jaymin & Leia that I almost stopped reading. I just couldn't stand Maisey, she was too stupid. When you hit halfway through the book she suddenly gets smarter. She isn't so shallow. I loved that Cronus was finally shown as more than a tyrant. He had feelings & was more relatable. Some of the hashtags were funny. I have heard so much hype on this book that I thought I'd love it. Unfortunately, it was a big let down. I won't even be reading the rest of the series.

This book is ridiculous... and yet, oddly engrossing.

I quite liked Maisey. She was ridiculous lol. But oddly endearing.

This got a little slow towards the halfway point.

Skimmed.

It literally took me one day to read this book. It was just THAT good! I totally got sucked away from reality and immersed in an incredible world that did potential cause my heart pain but all in all it was FANTASTIC! So No complaints... So if you want that to happen for yourself go and get yourself a copy. I know the release day says not until December but the ladies brought that date right in and I believe its coming out the 2nd November!!

Now onto the harder stuff…one thing I learnt after reading this book

Man, I don’t think my brain was this broken since reading Heather Renee’s Shadow Veil Series. So thank you I love it when my brain is like this.

So I kinda hope nobody is expecting too much of my brain right now. Last night…only very limited words came out and even then they were words mostly on repeat. This is probably the most accurate gif you will ever find representing my brain after reading this book.

I could say I felt like someone threw me overboard but no that’s not epic enough. This probably won’t necessarily mean much to you guys since you haven’t read the book, but it felt like being punt kicked off a cliff with no life bond….if you had a life bond just think of going bungee jumping, I personally have never been (coz heights are terrifying lol)…but you know the moment they spring back up? Well it’s like that expect boom your safe and back on solid ground, no kasplat for you . Without a life bond? #SoScrewed #PleaseRememberMe – that’s your predicament. So maybe go find yourself a life bond?

Also apologies in advance…before reading this book my brain barely thought of hashtags but now…a lot of my thoughts are starting with hashtags…so #YouCanBlameTheAuthorsForThat #TheyBrokeMyBrain

Now your probably all rolling your eyes at me…going stop being a drama queen, but don’t judge until you read this book and that last scene. #Don’tBeGivingMeNoAttitude

Okay, okay fine I’m moving on.

But seriously guys you really need to read this book! It’s funny, full of life, has hot Titans, a killer story and a chick that is so determined to show that humans are just as worthy as all the gods in this book. Who are btws #SoCocky…Humans can be awesome and all that too you know!

At first look, even maybe second, you may just see a girl that’s kind of a little shallow. Obsessed with getting likes and follows on Insta and is well known as the #HashtagQueen…but you see pretty quickly, for me anyways, that Maisey is just a girl trying to find her place in the world, trying to stay afloat in a life that hasn’t been all to kind to her and to prove she is worthy and that she won’t be alone in this life.

This new chapter in her life…that #ChangesEverything all starts at her 21st birthday party and a double dare, which she could never pass up. So what does she do but go climb up the cliff to go take a selfie in a supposedly haunted cave. She’s not scared because she doesn’t believe in ghosts or the likes…but when she accidentally cuts herself climbing and said hand ends up on some pretty archaic cave wall…she kinda accidentally lets out a being that’s been locked up for a thousand years #OopsDidIDoThat. Like any person who has been drinking she totally puts it down to high levels of alcohol and one of her friends slipping something into her drink.

But next day nope, the hot as hell guy, wait he’s not really a guy #HotTitanAlert, is still there in her apartment and everything that is happening is #Real…and due to her saving him from the prison world, it kind of made a life bond happen between the two of them. If she dies, he dies, where he goes she goes. There’s really no choice in the matter because if she doesn’t follow #LotsOfPain #MadeToFollow sooo being the girl that she is she takes in all in stride.

“Not everyone gets attached to a god for their twenty-first birthday, but I was special like that.”

Basically after releasing one hella powerful Titan, Cronus, he’s on a little bit of a payback mission for the Pantheon gods that put him there and killed his family…being stuck to this human is an inconvenience to him obviously and her peppy, take things in stride attitude kinda annoys him a little – see he’s very serious and doesn’t like to smile much but can you blame the dude? First off, he’s a Titan that’s been trapped for AGES and secondly he just attached himself to an annoying human, as he sees it, that could potentially kill him.

“You are very odd, even for a human. Too peppy in my opinion.” Peppy? Hah. He should see me on my period when I’ve run out of chocolate. I’d show him peppy then. I shrugged. “I guess, that’s true. I am odd and peppy. I’ve always been this way, just taking everything in stride. But something tells me you’re going to test that part of my personality.”

But before anything can go underway with Cronus’ payback plan, being stuck in a prison world can kinda drain a fella out…and being drained is not good news, because that means there’s quite a few gods gunning for his sexy butt; Coz best time to take him down is clearly when his drained. So off Cronus and Maisey go trying to keep ahead of a not so happy Zeus and his followers.

So obviously, when your power is running low you go chase after a person that can give you a weapon that can injure a god right?! And from here some crazy stuff starts happening. Old enemies meet and Cronus is adorable with how he protects his human. See he does like her.

There’s also new allegiances that are made….haha and nope not telling you who with.

But with this new person on their side, they also find that they had to make a deal…because duh we have to spice things up a little.

And that’s when bigger problems come about like #EndTheWorld kind. You see where they have to go to complete this deal, is a place filled with all these items Zeus has collected and Cronus leaves Maisey on her own, which #IsNeveraGoodIdea and she kinda finds herself having opened Pandora’s Box.

And about Nine levels of epic proportions of bad just happen to come out of it. Nine deadly sins…that have only grown in power since the last time they had been locked away.

Sooo now they kinda have to go save the world. Leave Zeus for another day.

There’s one thing I haven’t told you…and I’m not going to say a lot even on it…but somehow Maisey isn’t all that she seems…and when she opened the box she just became an extremely crucial part in all of this…and she may just be the only way to save humankind from being made extinct. And that is all I’m saying on that matter. You can’t make me say more.

I really loved this world that Jaymin and Leia created. I don’t think I’ve actually read anything like that, where its the Titan’s that are on the good side trying to fix stuff. So I loved that switch it up. Even besides that, this world has been crafted to perfection even if it leaves you panting for breath and in a perpetual state of #FreakingOut

I just can’t stop thinking of that cliffy and how much hurt my chest experienced…like my chest literally felt like it was being tugged on and then BOOM the books just finished and everything is #bad #NoAmountOfChocolateCanFixThis

At the moment I don’t know much…but I do know that I feel like a kid that’s counting down the days to their birthday or Christmas and its not getting here soon enough. #YouDoKnowI’mDyingOverHereRight?

I will grudgingly say thank you for bringing us into this amazing world even if you didn’t send us in with safety gear to survive. So readers this is me giving you a warning…

Ha look, finally I non Academy based book guys! I’m glad the book that broke my heart was one of Jaymin & Leia’s because least I know they #FixIt … Cronus dude you better have a dang good explanation for doing what you did. That’s me I’m out. #IHaveTooManyEmotions.

I hope to never meet a person who speaks in hashtags.

Releasing the Gods wasn't a bad book but it wasn't an absolute favorite either. In it, you will meet Maisy and she has the hopes and dreams of becoming an Instagram influencer. Eh, well, she did until she ran into a little problem. Cronus.

Now he just happens to be a Titan who was trapped in a cave. Somehow she frees him and got tethered to him. At this point, we don't really know what happened or what's going to happen. We do know that people are coming for him and that they just happen to be gods as well.

Then on top of all that fun, she accidentally lets out like 9 sins. No biggie. Along the way of trying to capture them before they destroy the human world, you can sense some sexual tension between these two. You also get to meet more of Cronus's family and you can definitely sense who is a douche and who isn't very early on.

The one thing I would change is the hashtags. Oh lord, once I saw them I knew it was going to be a long ride. Eventually my eyes started to get tired from all the eye rolling that happened but I was about to get lucky. I have reached the end of the book and I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it all just yet.

Obviously I need to dive into the next book just to see what the hell is going to happen next.

70% of this books is him getting annoyed and nonchalant to her.

The last 30% of the book is them getting along and slowly starting to open up to one another.

(Also why did she just start trauma dumping in front of his ex wife when she just met her )

It’s okay.

I like the story and the back and forth, but the # crap is annoying more than anything. There is a point where you get one on each page. If it was a once in awhile thing I could ignore it, but I feel like it’s just this annoying thing hanging over a good story.

The story itself starts off fast and sort of “meh” but it does admittedly get better by the half way point of the book. Good enough to make me want to read part two.

Hello readers!

Today we will be reviewing Releasing The Gods (The Titan’s Saga #1) by author Leia Stone & Jaymin Eve.

Please see above for more details on the book.

This story is about a teenage girl whose life changes the moment she enters a cave while trying to have a good time with her friends. Enter Cronus, a Titan, who will lead her to a future she could never have anticipated while unearthing secrets to the past she could never dream up.

This book is not the first we have reviewed with a new take on gods and goddesses. How does this book compare to the others?

Bridgette – This book about gods and goddesses really does not compare to any of the others we have reviewed because it is so different from them all. This is a truly teen/young adult view with unexpected twists of the stories we have been told our whole lives. Leia Stone and and Jaymin Eve bring comedic relief while appealing to a very young audience with their writing in this book.

Amy- I find it intriguing to have Cronus as the main character. It was refreshing. I loved it!

Claire – I really enjoyed the world Jaymin and Leia created. Not only did they give a fresh spin on Greek mythology but an unprecedented one, as well. In this plot, the Titans are on the good side which is a take I had never read. The pace was a bit quick but I was glad someone was finally brave enough to refrain from painting Zeus and Co. as the saviors having locked up the evil Titans. #downwithtradition #almamater #gotitans

A struggle for survival and discovering one’s true identity are central themes explored in this book, yet comedy remains a constant. How well do the authors incorporate comedy with the serious themes of the story?

Bridgette – I truly enjoyed this odd twist of comedy which I would never have freely admitted to liking before reading this book. It is very unlike me to enjoy a story told with such a young target audience and the usage of so many hashtags. But the irony of the comedy won me over. I truly laughed while reading this story and looked forward to figuring out where the story was going the entire time.

Amy- I really enjoyed the comedy that was in this book, these two are saving the world but still find time to be funny. It was an easy read and kept me turning my pages to find out what was happening! A giggle here and there is always a treat!

Claire – That is one thing to call the constant in this book. Leia was surely stoned when she decided hashtags would be of comedic relief. However, the plot itself is comedic. Twenty-fun year old girl releases the Titan of all Titans, Cronus, #Oopsdididothat, who is now sort of bound to her…#stucklikeglue while the duo try not to be killed by the other Greeks gods and prevent the Apocalypse. I’m not saying this makes Maisey #managementmaterial but these are some great resume builders.

This book is certainly geared toward a younger audience (Gen Z or Z Gen for those who have no understanding of the generation) with references to hashtags. Did you find this added or detracted to the value of the book?

Bridgette – This question directly relates back to the last, I found the comedy to be built on this over usage of hashtags. I am by no means a young adult who lives by the hashtags she tweets or shares on Instagram. However, each time a hashtag was used throughout the story I found myself smiling or laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. I am not sure if this was the intent of the authors, but I truly enjoyed it.

Amy- I guess this is where my age shows. I don’t understand the point of hashtags or use them. I didn’t absolutely hate them but I could have done without them. They were funny but the context alone was funny without all the hashtags.

Claire – As mentioned in my previous answer, I found the hashtags to be of little use to the overall story. Especially at the start of the book, I couldn’t help but think of Maisey as this shallow, ego-centric tween when taking into account her social media habits. Setting these concerns aside, Maisey truly is just a small-town girl living in a lonely world…#shetookthemidnighttrain #andunleashedhavoc…while proving to herself and others that she is worthy of a good life. It is completely possible to portray a protagonist in a less-than-intelligent light with flashes of growth without the use of hashtags but #whatdoiknow #notmuch…#z #gen #soundslikeasoda

We have reviewed individual books by Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone in the past. Do you feel the two make a dynamic duo writing together?

Bridgette – When we reviewed books in the past by both Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone I enjoyed each book. I think I had a preference for Leia Stone’s story telling in her Dragons and Druids Series. However, I think their writing together was seamless. I would not be able to tell you where one ends and the other picks up. I believe this duo will keep readers hooked with their combined effort in this series.

Amy- They meshed very well in my opinion! It was a seamless duo and I can’t wait to read part 2!!

Claire – Just like chocolate and peanut butter, I think these two compliment each other very well #newfoodgroup. They incorporated elements of snark, wit, and tension all into one fresh take on traditional and exhausted Greek mythological stories. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of their work #perfectpair #doubletrouble #divineduplicate

This book is fast-paced and short in length (221 pages). Were the authors able to do the story justice at this length?

Bridgette – This book was a bit more fast-paced and shorter than I prefer typically. But how amazing is it to sit down for a short read to be humored for just a while and then pick up a move on to the next? It is a refreshing change from some of the lengthier books I typically read. I do believe the story could have been expanded in length to better justify all of the exciting things which happened throughout but I will take all I can get from this story, even if it means waiting for future books.

Amy- I think this book was fast and over quick. That being said it left you hanging at the perfect spot and even has chapter one for the next one. These girls know how to keep you turning the pages!

Claire – This book did have a quick pace at such a short page length but it worked. The authors were able to write a book that takes a generous spin on Greek gods without taking themselves too seriously. I think that’s why I was so hung up on the hashtags because I was trying to read with authenticity but this novel is meant to be a quick, fun read.

Still, Maisey and Cronus were so fun to read about with their chemistry and endless banter…#meet #insultandinjury #teentitans #littlewords #lottaaction

Based on this book, will you continue on with the series and do you recommend others read it?

Bridgette – I already have the next book geared up in my queue to be read next and I certainly will keep an eye out for the third and final book (maybe they will expand even further after the third book). I recommend this book to any reader who wants something short and funny but who can also deal with a book geared toward a much younger audience. Enjoy your reading and let us know what you think!

Amy- Yes!!! I will be reading the series, and you need to do the same!!

Claire – For the sake of being humored in a non-conventional way, I am interested in reading the rest of the series. Not to mention that cliffy…#cantheyfixit #yestheycan…If you like Greek gods, enjoy snarky banter, and are willing to tolerate over 200 pages of hashtag usage with a little end of the world destruction thrown in there, you should certainly check this book out.

This book blew away any expectations that I had going into it. It was absolutely phenomenal! Not only was it funny, a great escape and an epic adventure, it was also very heart-felt. These authors really created a gem with this book and I am really looking forward for book two!

This book starts with Maisy climbing up a cliff to a cave for a dare. Once up there, she accidentally opens up a portal that releases a imprisoned Titan. This supernaturally chains them together and Maisy gets entangled in a centuries old feud.

If I could sum up this book in one word, it would be adventure. In this book, you travel all of the world, encountering supernatural beings and battling strange and powerful entities. I was at the edge of my seat, holding my breath and staying up late all to see what would happen next!

I think the thing that surprised me the most is that this book does start off light-hearted and funny, but morphs into something deeper. I was constantly laughing at the hashtags and while reading, finding myself hashtagging my own life! And then when it got deeper, I fell in love with Maisy as a character. At first I didn't think that I would get so attached to her or the story, but then it pulled me in and became an epic journey of self-discovery.

The romance was great, but it does not take the main focus of the plot. It is sprinkled throughout and really ramps up near the end, but I have the feeling the next book is going to be so good! Plus the ending was crazy! I never seen it coming and I really don't know the direction book two will go.

All I can say is that this has got to be one of my favorite reads! It was sooooooo good! Even if fantasy is not your thing, I still think that this is worth reading! I am not big on epic fantasy and this was just enough that it was fun and different, but not too much that I needed to write notes to remember what was going on!

Holy cannoli! I loved this book. If I could give it a rating of more than five stars I would. I’ve actually been waiting to read this book since it first came out but I wanted to wait for the rest of the saga before starting. I’m horrible with cliffhangers and this has a good one. I’m starting the next book as soon as I finish this review.

I absolutely LOVE a good book that is about gods, goddesses, Titans, etc. I also enjoy a good twist and modern take on the classic mythology stories. This book was up there as one of the best ones I’ve enjoyed.

Cronus was even better of a character than I anticipated. Being honest I would love to have been able to view some of the story from his point of view. I bet he has a bunch going through his head and it would be interesting to experience.

Maisey releases Cronus and is finding she has a greater destiny than she ever thought. The only thing that annoyed me a few times about her is all her dang hashtags. But even with those I liked her as the h. She may seem self centered but she is also very caring and eco friendly.

I can’t wait to get pulled in to even more of Cronus and Maisey’s story.

#GodsAreHot #SorryNotSorry

Two of my favorite authors team up to create a funny, if fast, modern tale of historical proportions. We’ve got Titans, Greek gods, the fates and a millennial who really just wants to reach those 100k followers on the ‘Gram. Cute, funny and timely.

Pros:
- Funny!
- She’s immature and flighty, but there is sooo much more to her.
- The Titans are hot.
- Hashtag heaven.
- Pop culture galore... bit annoying.

Cons:
- The hashtags... I laughed, I got annoyed.
- Where do these emotions come from? I don’t get it, there’s no build, just attraction, and that even feels startling from Cronus.
- Girl needs to read a dang book.
- Ok.... how is she so accepting of all of this? I mean, seriously? He just walked out of a dang wall!! How is that ok? Where is your freak out? #TooAccepting
