Gregg Popovich by Clayton Geoffreys reads less like a biography and more like an extended fan tribute, with every chapter firmly committed to admiration rather than analysis. The book delivers a decent collection of facts, career milestones, and Spurs trivia surrounding Gregg Popovich, which was enough to keep the pages turning, but the prose rarely rises above a middle-school level and offers little in the way of insight. There is virtually no engagement with controversy, criticism, or the more complicated aspects of Popovich's career., i.e. only straightforward narration making it useful as a reference for casual fans, but not much else.

Ok. It was interesting to find out more about Gregg P, especially as a fellow USAFA alumni. However, I was disappointed that this was an unauthorized biography (I should have looked closer at it when I got it). It was pretty basic and simple. Not a lot of details, and probably some general story-telling instead of specific details on Popo's coaching and strategy to win.

I should have done more of a review on the author and the books he writes. I appreciate how sports related books provide insight into management, team building and leadership but his was more of a long essay with personal opinions than a true book of leadership for me. I wanted more content and details.

Pop’s life is fascinating, insightful, and inspiring. Unfortunately, this author is none of those things.
