All He Wanted was Justice. All She Wanted was His Heart.

Georgina Whitmore, not accustomed to any man being unaffected by her charms, is plagued with the disappearance and rejection of Simon Fancourt. Twelve years later, Mr. Fancourt returns to British society with two children and a mad hunger for justice.

Racing against time, Simon works to uncover the men responsible for his wife's horrific murder, protect his children, and fulfill his father's unexpected will by marrying Georgina—the last thing in the world he wants to do.

Though her heart throbs to accept, she would rather lose him again than have his name without his love. She denies his proposal of matrimony, knowing it will cost them both. But as tragedies unravel and secret enemies narrow their sights on Simon, Georgina risks her life--and her reputation—to protect him and the children. Will the danger scorch them alive? Or will it, for the first time, open his heart to her?

(Thank you Barbour Publishing and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review)

“We are all vulnerable, more often than not, Mr. Fancourt. Love does not prey on vulnerability, but emboldens it.”

“Never Forgotten” tells the story of Simon Fancourt, who wishes to follow his dreams but this means disappointing his family and leaving behind his fiancée. Years later, he returns home with two children and a murdered wife. Seeking justice, he embroils himself in a mystery that puts himself, his family and his former fiancée in danger. To make matters more complicated, his father leaves a will that states he can only inherit if he marries Georgina Whitmore— the fiancée he left behind.

Georgina Whitmore is not used to men being unaffected by her charms which is why the rejection and disappearance of her fiancé, Simon has plagued her for years. His return brings hope but when it’s obvious Simon is still not pleased with the thought of an arranged marriage and would do it as duty, she rejects his offer, for “What profit was there in gaining his name but not his heart?” But when danger finds him and his children, she can’t help but risk everything to help them.

“These must be your children. I have heard about them, though I confess, only in the scandal column of the Morning Chronicle.”

“You should find better pastimes.”

This is officially my number two by Hannah Linder. It seems my kryptonite is single-parent romances because every single one she has put out has been a hit. I really loved this. This is my favourite mystery that she has written. It was action-packed, the stakes were high and consequences were felt.

The characters were realistic. I love how the characters discovered their feelings for each other. For Georgina, it was analysing if her feelings were due to Simon’s previous rejection or genuine emotion while Simon’s was a gradual, a bit unwilling falling for her, after unpacking all the prejudices he had against her. It felt genuine. As it is a romance, we know it has a happy ending, but the author at one point made me feel like they wouldn’t end up together. She really made them consider their choices and it made me panic.

I can’t wait for more from her.

“I love you.” Perhaps she should not say the words so often. She never had to anyone else. But they throbbed through her, all day long, every day, until she could not help but speak them.

I love poetic writing and Hannah Linder has perfected it.👏🏼 Never Forgotten was a poetic regency experience and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

This book had an unrequited love, second-chance romance that wrecked my heart a little before putting it back together. My heart broke for Georgina. I loved her character! My heart broke for Simon too. While it took me a little longer to truly love his character, I ended up loving his character as well. And his children were precious and broke my heart even more.🥺

This book had all the mystery, suspense, and plot twist one could want from a regency novel. It was definitely gripping as I couldn’t put it down and felt like I was there with the characters, feeling all the emotions along with them. It would make a perfect read for a cozy, autumn evening.😍
There were a few gory, violent parts but thankfully they were brief.

In conclusion, Never Forgotten was perfectly emotional, poetic, atmospheric, and regency. If you love books that give Charlotte Brontë and Jane Austen vibes, I think you’ll love this book!

Hannah Linder always writes novels filled with danger and suspense that keep me on the edge of my seat! The characters go through so much in this book. It’s a beautiful second chance romance filled with unrequited love. The characters have been through a lot in the past and as they come together due to dangerous circumstances, they must learn to love and heal. There’s a great mystery that had me shocked and surprised. This one didn’t have as much of a Gothic feel as some of the other books that Ms. Linder writes. If you read this one, did you guess the secrets and the bad guys? I definitely recommend this one to readers of historical suspense!

⚠️Content: I give this book a PG-13 rating. Examples of the content: a man comes onto a scene with a man standing over a woman who is half unclothed (implying r*pe); mention of alcohol and someone is drunk; a man has affairs; mention of a prostitute; violent, semi graphic murders; use of laudanum; someone committed suicide in the past; a woman says she is pregnant out of wedlock; someone tries to commit suicide in the present; a woman is abused by a man; blood and violence.
⚠️TW: implied rape; suicide; abuse

4 stars. If nothing else, Hannah Linder delivers aesthetics. I always enjoy the Regency or Victorian "vibes" of her books. While the opening of this novel was certainly gripping, it was a little too brutal for me. The mystery wasn't as well done as I expected, either. My favourite thing was definitely Mr. Oswald—I would read a whole book about him, please and thank you!—and I did enjoy the very unexpected twist of the main villain. The kids were cute, too, and the FMC. Overall, it wasn't my favourite Hannah Linder book and I even forgot everything about it because it really didn't stir up any emotions. But I liked it while I read it.

I didn't think it was possible to pick a favorite among Hannah Linder's books... But this may be my favorite so far.

Everything about this story was simply incredible. I loved the dynamic Simon brought to the story and how uniquely crafted he was. I loved his perfect blend of strength and stubbornness along with his art and gentleness. He was exactly what Georgina needed. 💙 And Georgina was a beautifully crafted character as well! Her internal conflict hit in all the right ways and her personality made her a delightful character that I could go on reading about forever. These two might just be my favorite couple Hannah Linder has written yet.

And the mystery... ACK! I'd like to say I had it all figured out but the truth is there were so many aspects that it had my head spinning. 😂 I loved it!! I was still guessing up to the end! It was a very satisfying mix of being able to guess some things while being surprised over a lot too. The best combination for a mystery in my opinion.

And Oswald. Oh my gosh. I need more of him!! Can we please have a book just for him?? I need waaaaay more of Alexander Oswald. ACK!!! I loved him the entire time and how unique his character was. He seriously reminded me of Sherlock Holmes and I absolutely adored it. I would preorder a book with him as the main character in a heart beat!!! (I mean, he does need a happily ever after too, right??)

Ten out of ten recommend this book. A million times over. It was superb! Go get yourself a copy right now!!

What a great gothic romance. I loved it! I will warn you that there were quite a few intense moments and maybe some moments that may be too gruesome for some. However, if you are a fan of gothic romance then I think you will love it! I really loved the main characters Simon and Georgina. I felt so bad for them with their different hurts they suffered. But I loved their endurance and strong will they had to press on when there was danger all around. I loved how Simon made sure his children were safe. I found the mysteries in the story really interesting and didn’t guess the outcome. Overall, a great story and I recommend gothic romance lovers.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Content: murders, stabbings, suicide, one murder in particular that is mentioned is pretty gruesome, kidnapping

Hannah Linder never disappoints! This was another stunning piece of art that fully captivated my attention. I devoured it in a day, unable to put it down.
Each book of hers is an immense pleasure to escape into. This one was no exception.
The tone was a bit dark at the beginning; everything was tragic and spooky. However, she mastered the theme well and made me feel as if I were right there amongst the characters, which wasn’t the most pleasant feeling, given the frightful events…
She always writes beautiful heroines. They aren’t your typical “she’s not like other girls,” which gives me pure eye rolls and cringes. But not with Linder! Georgina was a wonderful persona to divulge, even if she was initially reserved. Her painful acquaintance with abandonment was palpable, and it was all too easy to come rushing to her defense. She was sweet and timid and scarred, but she also displayed quiet courage and strength.
Then there was Simon…
I felt that Simon was initially selfish in his actions… All of them really, but it did not hinder me from sympathizing and liking him. He had a probing character arc and redeemed his dismissal of Georgina 100 fold. And really, it can’t be helped that some men are complete dolts at times. Simon among them. He was a good father and husband, and I could not cease to mentally BEG Georgina to stay with him, to never leave his side. I, as the reader, felt a million times safer with him than just with Georgina at her townhouse with that dastardly Mr. Lutwidge. I think this book has forever ruined Yellow Roses for me. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
Now, for the mystery. It was certainly gripping and sent a chill down my spine as I read. I was slightly disappointed with the ending. It was not a weak ending by any means, with high stakes and all the delightful misery any good story requires. But, it lacked a tad of clarity as to the mystery, and I couldn’t help but feel like it could have been a little more tied up.
All that said, Simon and Georgina were pure golden agony together. Their story made me ache from my core. I was rooting for them, shouting at them, mentally shaking sense into them. I was wholly immersed. For that, Hannah deserves a dozen medals.

Wow! Hannah Linder is a master of creating chilling Gothic mysteries of the Regency era paired with a sweet spin of romance. Every book of hers has left me spellbound, but this is easily one of my favourites!

The split between Regency England and the backwoods of North Carolina connected the two vastly different worlds in my mind. Our hero & heroine are older (comparatively as 27 isn’t that old, haha) but their tangled history left scars on both sides. Georgia’s deep fear of being left behind and alone along with Simon’s inner struggle with his purpose both resonated hard.

And those twists?! In my opinion, this was Linder’s most complex plot yet. Just when I thought I had things sorted, it was revealed I most certainly did not. The twists were certainly twisting!

There were a few minor details that didn’t connect in my head (but that might have been my brain fog); otherwise this was the perfect moody autumn read—thrilling and chilling with each page!

Never Forgotten by Hannah Linder is a thrilling regency mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat and made me quite reluctant to put down the book.

Georgina Whitmore has a very relatable plight -- she's in love with a man who may never love her back. In the years since he originally rejected her, she has tried to forget it, but she's not exactly the same girl he rejected all those years ago. I was quite impressed with Georgina's strength of character throughout the book. While in the prologue she jumped at the chance to possibly marry the man of her dreams, she takes more time to think over her options when the opportunity presents itself again. Although Georgina has some of her own hurts, she always looks out for those around her. I also love how she offers forgiveness to those who have wronged her.

Simon Fancourt is a man driven to exact revenge on the men who murdered his wife. While he wants to avenge his wife, he still has other priorities, namely his children. I found it so endearing what he was willing to do to provide for his little ones. It was so sweet how he always thought of their needs before his own. Also, I loved seeing Simon use his intellect to solve the various mysteries he encounters throughout the book.

I just wish that we'd gotten to meet Simon's wife before she died. I feel like it would've helped me understand their relationship a bit better, and I mean, it isn't like Hannah couldn't make a little novella or bonus scene with the two of them as a newsletter freebie or something..........

I enjoyed watching the mystery unravel, although I admit, I did take a sneak peek at the ending to see how everything played out. I loved how Hannah made all the pieces fall into place!

I didn't love the subplot about Georgina's father's death. The resolution to that mystery seemed a little anticlimactic, and I still think there should've been more consequences.

Overall, I enjoyed getting to read this clean romance! If you are a fan of regency romances, you should definitely check out this exciting read!!!

I received a advance copy of this book. My opinions are my own. A positive review was not required.

Never Forgotten is a page turning gothic romance set in England and in America during the early 1800s. I absolutely loved the story. The characters are well developed and the children, John and Mercy stole my heart. Simon Fancourt is a man on a mission of revenge, but also a man who loves with all his being. Miss Whitmore with an unrequited love from her teenage years still loves Simon. With mysteries to be solved, and love to be kindled, this book is a 5 star read for me.

Never Forgotten is about story about loss, love, loyalty and finding Gods path. Simon is constantly running it seems trying to make his own way in life through his own strength. He runs into tragedy upon tragedy never really knowing who to trust. Through the story we see him transform and almost forced to stop running and have his eyes open.
Georgina is loyal to her core even when it seems everyone is constantly leaving her. What I love about her though is she doesn’t stop that from loving and caring for others.
This story is filled with Faith, edge of your seat action and mystery, and love with fighting for.
I highly recommend.

What a hauntingly beautiful book!
What I always say about Ms. Linder's books is that the atmosphere she creates is impeccable. You feel like you're in the middle of the action. That is what I love most about her books. With Never Forgotten, I felt the same. While it's definitely not for the faint of heart (you should check the trigger warnings for this book), it has such a powerful message.
I didn't necessarily love the characters or the romance. But I was there for all the action and plot twists. Those were the greatest part.
A must-read for gothic romance lovers!

Content that could be heavy for some readers: kidnapping, stabbings, suicide, murders (one in particular is pretty gruesome).

Oh. My. Heart.

When you read this one… block off a whole day. Make sure nothing will distract you. And have a box of tissues ready.

What an adventure. There were times when I thought I knew who the culprit was… but I was wrong! I also thought at one point that maybe the two mysteries were related… but they were separate.

Hannah created Simon and Georgina with such depth, and complexity. And then, John and Mercy… I LOVE children in books.

John’s bravery and resilience, Simon’s confrontation with his past, Georgina dealing with her fears… this book will suck you in, and it won’t let you go!

Thank you NetGalley and Barbour for the chance to read and review an early copy.

Reread July 6-7, 2025: I love Alexander Oswald! I want him to have a story so badly! He is my favorite character and hands down one of the best characters that Hannah Linder has ever created! He is the reason this book is four stars! Other than that, my thoughts are about the same as the first time that I read it. I’m ready to read Hannah Linder’s next novel, but unfortunately it doesn’t come out until November and no, it’s not about Alexander. 😔

🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Finally! I’ve been so excited to read this book! Beautiful cover! Alright, so it does start out pretty rough and is a bit violent and sad with Simon’s wife being murdered. My heart just broke for her. Okay, why is Simon such a jerk? I don’t like him at all. Georgina was an interesting character. It took me a bit to get into her and really enjoy her character. Alexander Oswald was a puzzle to me that I throughly enjoyed! I couldn’t decide if he was good or bad, but I just loved him for some reason! I got excited whenever there was a part about him! He was probably my favorite character! 🤭 I would have really liked to see him have his happy ending or write a book completely about him! Hannah Linder, please write a book about him! 🙏🏻 Yikes, Simon is just plain rude. But at the same time, I understand. His father had no right making that his final wish. He didn’t love her at least not yet. It just felt so wrong that he had to marry this girl or else he would lose everything and become penniless. He had every right to be furious. I honestly don’t know what I would do in that situation. With that being said, I did feel bad for Georgina…he could have handled it better. He rejected her for the second time. His mother had no right blaming it all on Simon just cause he wouldn’t marry Georgina. Simon changed his mind a little too quickly in my opinion. They barely gave him any time to think on it…that wasn’t fair at all. Simon is very quick to use force…yikes. I did like that he was an artist…that was a nice touch. Agnes is downright evil. That came out of nowhere. That is absolutely ridiculous and disgusting that they would think Simon would do something like that. I would want to slap my cousin if she ever spread lies like that. Simon and Georgina both grew on me as the story continued. There’s a lot of fights in this book…I don’t know how Simon survived them all. To be honest, I don’t think he would have. When he gave her the picture he drew of her father…🫠 I loved it! Georgina’s mamma, oh dear, she’s a character! I knew it! I knew who the bad guy was! Very action packed at the end and a tad bit unrealistic to be honest. I do wish that they would have just told that they loved each other instead of dancing around the truth. While this wasn’t my favorite of Hannah Linder’s this book pulled me in so many directions. There were certain parts where I wanted to yell at the character in this book or I gritted my teeth together in frustration. Other times, I was on the edge of my seat and at times, my heart broke. Other times, my eyes widened and my jaw dropped open. This book definitely grew on me and on my heart. This has it all murder, mystery and romance! Hannah Linder’s writing is elegant and yet easy to read and absorb, drawing you into the story. She sure knows how to pull on my heartstrings! Overall, I enjoyed it! 4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Quotes that I liked:

🧡"I love you, Simon. I loved you before you saw me. I loved you all the years you were away. I love you now."

🧡And she knew, for the thousandth time, why Simon Fancourt had haunted her heart for so many long years. He was not a man to be forgotten. Ever.

After every Hannah Linder book I read I am always in awe of how good it was and then I want to binge read the rest of her backlist (which is getting shorter because I’ve been reading a lot)!! This book was no exception! I hate to say it because it’ll probably change again when she publishes another, but I think this one might be my new favorite!

I just loved how Simon had one foot in the proper English world and one in America on a homestead as a self made man. It gave him depth as well as inner turmoil, trying to figure out where he belongs and what he really wants in life.

There were quite a few things in the story I wasn’t expecting! I liked how there was intrigue from several different angles as well a second love interest. It made the story interesting and had me on the edge of my seat! I kinda want Mr. Oswald to get a story now!

The way the book wraps up was exquisite and I kinda loved how it took til almost the very end for things to resolve. Unpopular opinion, but I think the delay added to the angst of the moment and made Simon’s ultimate decision more significant.

I 1000% recommend this book! 5 stars for sure! A huge thank you to NetGalley, the author and Barbor Publishing for the advance copy!

4 stars?

Still thinking through this one. I was not expecting a whirlwind suspense. I didn’t love that children were involved, it’s very hard for me to read books with children caught up in the danger of adults. Knowing now what to expect from Linder’s plots I think I’ll enjoy more books by her but this one probably won’t be a favorite. There were an astounding amount of twists and turns that I did not see coming and it was much more heavily suspense than romance.

Content: kisses only, no language, death, death of spouse, violence

Tropes: she falls first, pining

What I love about Hannah Linder books is how well she balances the darkness of the stories with light and hope. The mystery starts off with an immediate attention grabber and the need for justice.

I loved the twists and turns this story took. I appreciate having multiple points of view to add the dimension to different thoughts and perspectives. The unrequited love was a steady slow burn and I enjoyed seeing both characters learn and work on their flaws while using their strengths to persevere.

It’s emotional and complex and I loved how things came together in the end. I have enjoyed every single one of Hannah Linder’s books and can’t wait for future reads.

Overall audience notes:
- Historical Mystery + Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: moderate
- Content Warnings: murder, suicide, blood/gore depiction

This story was heart wrenching, intense, and so beautifully written!

It’s a complex and emotional read, beginning with an opening scene that immediately grabbed my attention and didn’t let go until the very end.

It’s also a beautiful story of unrequited love and second chances, balancing the darker aspects of the story with light and hope and love.

I loved Simon and Georgina. They both had experienced such hardships, but their strength and endurance was so admirable. I loved their slow burn romance.

There were lots of twists and turns, and the mysteries in the story were intriguing and kept me guessing.

Highly recommend to fans of gothic mystery and romance!

Suspense, secrets, regret, love, redemption, and supernatural direction are all intricately and masterfully woven through Hannah Linder’s new book “Never Forgotten.”

Simon Fancourt pulled on my heartstrings from the first sentence. His desire to do something with his hands is something I can relate to, but his rebellion, I must admit, broke my heart.

Georgina Whitman… her gentile ways, a shyness that masks her true self, and a love she desires make her such a beautiful character. Both Simon and Georgina will forever and always hold a place in my heart.

The journey to unveiling the secrets that haunt their lives, and the love they have for each other in their hearts, will pull you in and change your own heart. Together they learn that not everything is as it seems, but everything happens for a reason. Fathers want the best for their children. Love gives second chances. And God directs our steps.

I am not a murder mystery fan, but I will forever be a Hannah Linder fan!!

Gothic drama fills the pages of this Regency story that has scenes in 1813 America and progresses to England as Simon Fancourt returns to his family estate. Misconceptions are the rule rather than the exception but stubbornness further complicates the relationship of Simon and Georgina Whitmore who were promised in marriage through a decision made by their parents.
This author gives us a complex story with many villainous characters and some who only later show their true colors. Ms. Linder kept me guessing at the resolution, which did not turn out the way I supposed. The tension was palpable and it certainly kept me turning pages.
With a slight faith thread and a perplexing romance, this story had a dramatic atmosphere of intrigue and mystery.

This is the second novel that I've read by Hannah Linder. I really enjoyed the first one and hoped it would continue for this one.

This particular one begins in London--jumps to the American frontier, and then shifts back to London. We have two narratives--Simon and Georgina. When the story starts they are supposed to be marrying each other, but Simon bails determined to seek his own desires and dreams even at threat of disinheritance. When we meet Georgina it's been about 10 years later and she's still unwed and we learn she's in love (for some reason) with her memory of Simon. Simon however has since married the love of his life and has two children. Trauma leads to his return to London and the mystery behind it remains the focal of the story.

Honestly--I felt jerked around a lot in this story. It jumped from Simon to Georgina and then the events of Simon's life. it just wasn't an easy to follow book. i absolutely felt the ending was a great surprise but still kind of like "but why?" as to the criminal aspect.

3.5 stars. But for the sake of Goodreads, I'll do 4.

Never Forgotten is layered in mystery and suspense. This is one of those books that you can’t stop reading. Each chapter, each scene had me on the edge of my seat. Georgina was deep and sweet and I was completely thrown by her once we get to her first scene.
Simon wanted more out of his life than what his father expected of him, so naturally he rebelled against the arranged marriage to the striking beauty Georgina Whitmore assuming that because she was stunning her head—and heart—were empty. I love that throughout his return and their story he is proven wrong time and time again. She fell first and hard…but doesn’t make it easy on him.
This story is complex and full of surprises that kept me turning the pages. The side characters were compelling and drove the plot forward but never in the direction I expected.
Several times at the end, I held my breath and kept questioning HOW these characters would reach their happily ever after. And as everything else in this book I was surprised by how it all worked out in the end.

Never Forgotten is soooo full of love and forgiveness, reminders of we're never alone, always loved. Georgiana's devotion to Simon was so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time, she feels so left behind and forgotten, and Simon feels so lost and shattered from his past. And the mystery that weaves their lives back together was just PERFECT. 🩷 And of course, Mercy and John made the story complete. 🥰
If you love a good gothic regency mystery that's clean and full of love and redemption, then don't miss out on this one! 🩷

Oh this book…
I think I wanted to like it more than I did. I had no problem with the writing style nor what the story was trying to accomplish (indeed it kept me interested until the end), but there were so many things that bothered me, I found it detracted from the experience. First and foremost, the MMC is awful. He is grumpy, self-serving, dictatorial, and just generally unpleasant. The MFC is only slightly better as she perpetually feels sorry for herself and is often unable to have an independent thought.

I had a really hard time understanding either characters’ motivation. Deeper exploration into their shared past may have made their relationship more believable, but as it stands I really don’t know how they ended up with feelings for each other.

I also found this book very gritty (with fairly gruesome descriptions of death and murders), and surprisingly lacking in any moral compass. (Really strange for a purported Christian author). What was the moral of the story here? because I’m fairly sure the author was really trying to find one by the end.

Lastly, I wasn’t a fan of the forced suspense. Many grand gestures or big events were followed by disappointments for the characters (usually rooted in unnecessary misunderstanding)…it really just made for a depressing read.

Also, just because I have to say it, the MMC’s daughter’s ridiculous misuse of pronouns drove me crazy. As someone with a lot of experience with children, it was completely unbelievable that a child of her age could not figure out (or be corrected on) how to use the word “I” rather than “me”. But the end of the book I wanted to scream. “Me want ‘this’, me want ‘that’”… ugh.

So, after all that, the positives.
I enjoy the author’s writing (though there are a few areas that could use another batch of editing for clarity’s sake), and the story kept me engaged until the end. The characters’ flaws being a sort of realism (though again, I believe more character development would have lent a stronger believability). Overall, the story is not really my cup of tea, but I enjoy the author’s writing style and will continue to read more of her works.

𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏 is my first book by Hannah Linder and I hope not my last! At first, I struggled with the writing style because it felt chaotic & abrupt, but this was only for the first bit and I ended up very much enjoying the book.

The plot was intriguing, the character development was great, and the mystery was far more intense than I was expecting (which I’m definitely not complaining about!) - I was kept guessing who the culprit was until the very end. The faith content was light, but there were strong themes of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Also, I loved Georgina! She was so sweet, kind, and brave - just overall a great protagonist!

In short, I would recommend this book to those who love a regency setting, a good mystery, and sweet, well-written story. It’s also great if you are craving a fast-paced read.

↠ Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒚 31:6

↠ Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. 𝑰𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒂𝒉 49:15

𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆: Christian Historical Fiction

𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕: Level 3 - Kissing

𝑵𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕: The Simon’s wife is murdered right at the beginning of the book (it was dark but moderate & vaguely described), it’s implied that she was r*ped (emphasis on “implied”). Other negative content includes: suicide, murders, drunkenness, & stalkers. This is all pretty dark but it was written in a moderate way.

𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕: The faith content was pretty light but there was mentions of God and praying in times of need.

***I am very grateful to NetGalley and Barbour Fiction for this advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.

Hannah Linder writes in such a way that I can't figure out all the pieces until the reveals start. With twists, heart breaks and moments of beauty the story comes together and afterwards I'm left feeling like I lived it all.
This story resonated strongly with me. Like Georgina, I am plagued by people who I care about leaving me. And feeling like I wouldn't find my place to belong. I longed for her to find her place. I longed for someone to just love her, just as she was.
This story has many twists, turns, and dives into darkness, but I loved the roller coaster ride of emotions it took me on!

Sometimes people experience loss in abundance, leaving them alone and abandoned, a least in thoughts and purpose. Georgiana wonders if she can face another person exiting her life, it not by death, then by absence. Holding on to a long-lost love seems the only way to survive in the moment until that dream is shattered too.
Another form of grief through acts of violence or dramatic tragedy can tear a person asunder. Simon seeks revenge as the means to overcome his loss.
Join these characters in the early 1800s as they try to mesh reality with a renewed purpose and hope.
Bravo, Hannah!
