A sweet pop up about a chick who hatched all alone and decides to look for his siblings. Instead he finds a whole array of animals hatching out of eggs - snake, crocodile, duck, swans, turtle, even platypus - who each decide to come along to help him in his search. My preschooler loves the litany of, “Could this be Charlie’s brother?” “Noooo!”

The pop ups are not elaborate, but well-designed for each animal, and it’s a nice touch that every animal in the background is also one that lays eggs (e.g., sea gulls, dragonflies). It could make a nice exercise to find them all. The text is both endearing and silly (“No brother of mine was ever named Clarence!”), and in the end Charlie finally gets a page of hatching brothers and sisters, with all his cheering friends.
