I expected an introductory book to Canada's history, but instead I read a very biased book. From reading this you would think that Canada won WW2 on their own. Every chapter is concluded by stating that the Canadians had a truly remarkable indomitable spirit of "yes we can". It serves more as an introductory puff piece to Canadian history than a scholarly work.
Nevertheless, it provides a decent overview of the history of Canada, mainly in the 20th and 19th century.

I learnt a lot of facts about the History of Canada from reading this book. A lot of it I did not know. Well written, I loved it. There are indigenous People, European Exploration, Empires, Railways, War, Depression, to name a few chapters in this book.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A sycophantic celebration of Canada which with its focus on pre 1970 I assumed must have been written in the Seventies and was astonished to see a later publication date. A painful structure with repeated observations and excessive use of the word “nuanced”

The book does provide an overall good history of Canada and some interesting insights. I did find it a bit repetitive at the chapter level where attended to repeat concepts and facts more than once.
