Wow just an incredible book! This is the kind of story you love! it leaves you guessing but also makes you feel like you have to make decisions too. You are so caught up in this story. I loved it! It was a brilliant part of the story of The Satyr's Curse!
I went into this novel intrigued because do not recall having read too many paranormal that contained a Satyr in it and with this storyline humm. Jazzmyn is back at work after having her daughter at her Bistro but missing her dearly. Kyle is her chef and wanna be husband but commit to date is not something she can do. There are just a few things that are not settled yet with the day sooner or later that will be the reckoning for her. Even though she has not told him no matter Kyle has been more of a loving father than any little girl could wish for. But sooner or later reality has a way of splashing that cold water that will take your breath away because it is never expected when it happens. Feelings for Julian still reside inside but uneasiness about what this cursed being will do. Going to a voodoo priestess that was recommended to her seems to be her only recourse in her mind because of the invasion that is immanent. As you read this novel you learn all about what Julian's curse is and how it occurred. You also are told exactly what she must do to remove the curse and the man from her life. This is what I mean-intriguing really doesn't describe the half of it especially when this is certainly not your average paranormal storyline. That is what I crave when I go to read a book in this genre, especially after having been a reader for many years. I was hooked right away and could not put it down until I knew when he was coming, what was going to happen and would she be successful. Needless to say their is also the romantic aspect in this novel for sure. She does love Kyle but her feelings for Julian were quite different and at times unnatural it would seem. He also had waited a long time for her. Kyle also is no fool that is certain which I am glad the author gave him character. He would have to have it in order to be along side of these two. Strange events are also the order of the day in this novel which makes for juicier. You will be torn for Jazzmyn because she must do what is right for her daughter but yet she will see first hand how much her father's love brings joy to her daughter. First time in like forever I feel a bit of symphony for what would seem to be the bad guy in this novel but also feel really bad for Kyle. Decisions Decisions-What is a girl to do? And when those decisions are made and carried out oh the intriguing aftermath was quite the delicious surprise. This author has my attention, which with certainty will have any other reader, because she has the ability to write a novel that can keep me intrigued from beginning to end but is this really the end? Received a arc for a honest review.
Jazzmyn owns the Sweet Note Bistro and runs it alongside her boyfriend chef Kyle. He used to have a problem with drink and since the birth of their baby girl Jackie, Jazzmyn worries that Kyle will go back to his old ways of turning to drink for everything (he already has at least one glass of JD whilst working).
Jazzmyn lied to Kyle to protect him telling him that Julian has gone for good, neglecting to tell Kyle that Julian promised her he would be back for her and the baby. She doesnt know if when the time comes to end Julian she will be able to go through with it as he sill has some sort of hold over her. Kyle knows that he is not Jackie's biological father and never treats her any different than what he would his own, although he is jealous of the fact that Julian will always be in Jazzmyn's mind because of Jackie - causing them to argue a lot more-.
Jazzmyn learns that it MUST be her that banishes Julian and to do so she must use her daughter and get close to him once again in order to collect the things she needs ( 'the salt of his body'). In doing so though will she fall in love with him again??
What happens when Julian finds out about Jackie?? Will Jazzmyn banish him and let him go for good??
THIS BOOK IS PART OF A SERIES. ADVISED TO READ BOOK 1 FIRST
**WOW this is a brilliant book by a very talented author. This book certainly hooks you and pulls you straight in it, i felt a myriad of emotions reading this ending in anguish!!
I really felt for both Jazzmyn and Kyle throughout the book. Jazzmyn because she was torn between her feelings for Kyle and Julian, as well as worrying about Kyle's drinking and money problems with the bistro. Kyle because he had fought his drink addiction and was winning until Jackie was born, and even though he loved Jackie like his own he was worried about Jazzmyn's feeling for Julian even before he knew he hadn't really gone forever. He has to fight for Jazzmyn's love.
I also strangely loved Julian for all he was portrayed as an evil person he clearly loves Jazzmyn and adores Jackie. He tries so hard to change and convince jazzmyn that she is more than just the means to ending his curse. This book will leave you desperate for the next book in the series!!
I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it to others.
I currently severely dislike this author! The ending of this book was not pleasing to me at all, and not what I was expecting to happen, which rarely ever happens, so kudos to her for tricking me, but I'm still upset. Now that I got that off my chest...
I did not read the first book, and while there are aspects of this book that I think would probably have made a whole lot more sense if I had read The Satyr's Curse first, the author did a great job of imparting what I assume are key facts from the first book in a non-pendantic way so that I still felt like I knew everything I absolutely needed to about Julian Devereau's curse. I still wish I'd read the first one first, and will hopefully find the time to read it soon, but I have a terrible time following my TBR. I thought the suspense build up was great and while not pleasing to me, the conclusion was at least satisfying. I was completely sucked into this story and didn't want to put my kindle down for pretty much anything. I would definitely recommend this book to paranormal romance fans, but I would suggest reading The Satyr's Curse first. You don't want to make the same mistake I did.
What a horrible place to leave us readers in.....and I LOVED every moment of it. The big mystery now is will Julian be back? I cannot help but think he has atoned because of what he's now sacrificed. Has he learned the lesson that could break the curse? I do believe he has and that the love he has for Jazzmyn and his daughter has brought about the changes in his thinking that lead him to do what he has in this book..... I don't want to spoil it for anyone so enough said......
Julian MUST come back.....I like Kyle but he's pretty tame, and even boring next to Julian! Besides...Kyle is pretty weak in character.
I do think that Jazzmyn has finally realized how deep her feelings for Julian are......but is it too late?
I'm hoping the next book comes out soon because waiting is torture. Usually; I wait until a complete series is out before reading but in this case I couldn't wait and felt compelled to know what had happened with Julian and Jassmyn......especially after how book one left things........ NOW.....this book has left us hanging!
Recommended, but read the first book before this one. It's a GREAT story. Thank you.
Jazzmyn met Julian in the first book and he turned out to be cursed into a Satyr. No food or drink or woman will satisfy him. Jazzmyn now has given birth to his daughter Jackie. She is with Kyle though she is struggling with his drinking and trying to keep her restaurant afloat. Jazzmyn starts having dreams about Julian and then she turns to dark voodoo magic to free herself from him and to protect her daughter. I didn’t read the first book but I didn’t have too hard a time catching up with the story. I liked the writing and I thought the story was interesting. I thought the pacing was really slow in the beginning but it got exciting toward the end. 4 stars.
I love this book! I cried like a baby at the end of it!! I was lost in this book, it had me captivated through out the whole book!! It's sexy, but yet its the story in itself that is so captivating! It is written so well that it played out in my mind feeling so real! Amazing read!!! I'd give it more stars if I could!

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--THE SATYR’S CURSE II: THE RECKONING is the second installment in Alexandrea Weis’s adult, contemporary The Satyr’s Curse paranormal series focusing on restaurant owner Jazzmyn Livaudais, and Julian Devereau-a man cursed to roam the earth as a Satyr ( to atone for the sins of the past) searching for the only woman to set him free. As Julian sets out to claim Jazzmyn Livaudais, he will discover that what he has been waiting for is not necessarily what he is going to get. The Satyr’s Curse: The Reckoning advances the series approximately sixteen months.
The storyline focuses on two relationships-Jazzmyn and Kyle (her restaurant’s head chef), as well as Jazzmyn and Julian. At the end of book one, Jazzmyn discovers she is pregnant. With Julian missing, Kyle’s love for Jazzmyn continues to grow offering marriage, family and a happily ever after. But Julian’s absence and unexplained connection to Jazzmyn continues to build a wall between our couple. With Julian’s return, Jazzmyn finds herself torn between her needs and her wants.
The relationship between Jazz and Julian is one born out of necessity. Julian needs Jazzmyn to break the Satyr’s curse-she is the only woman tied to his heart and his soul, but it is his past transgressions and sins that continually push at Jazzmyn’s mind. If she is unable to accept everything he has done in the past, will she ever be able to accept the man into her life? And Jazzmyn must consider the safety of her daughter. Julian’s connection to Jazzmyn’s daughter cannot be ignored.
The love triangle between Jazz and the two men in her life is difficult to understand at times. Jazz’s connection to Julian is one built on the supernatural-a compulsion and need brought about by a curse but his past his rife with death, destruction and betrayal. Their attraction to one another cannot be denied or ignored. Something about Julian pulls at Jazzmyn’s heart. Kyle’s presence in her life is one built upon a friendship but the love is lacking when Jazzmyn’s heart is constantly pulled in another direction. In the end, I am not sure which man is the right one for Jazz or if one is the lesser of two evils. For all of his sins Julian’s human side is just as fragile as any other man.
The world building continues with the inclusion of the sights and sounds, and the people of New Orleans. From voodoo priestesses to family and friends, the secondary characters add color, history and a background story that reveals the truth about what happened 150 years earlier.
THE SATYR’S CURSE is story of heartbreak and anguish; forgiveness and letting go; romance and love. Alexandrea Weis writes a provocative tale that compels you to question who would you choose if you were the Devil’s savior?
Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books blog. I've just finished Satyr's Curse II and Alexandrea Weis has ripped my heart out and earned a 5 star review! I'm so conflicted right alongside Jazzmyn! I've always been torn between my love of both Kyle and Julien but Alexandrea really has me leaning towards one side now, I just don't know how she is going to pull it off. She is taking a very selfish and evil man and allowing us to watch him grow and turn into a loving, caring man who will do whatever he has to for the two loves of his life, his beloved daughter, Jacqueline, and the love of his life, Jazzmyn. Her writing style still pulls me in allowing me to envision all the surroundings, absorb the atmosphere into my very soul, and imagine all the sights, scents and sounds. She has taken a paranormal theme and made me believe and hope for a happy ending. Since this is a series, there is more to the story. It is not exactly a cliff hanger, but luckily book 3 is releasing on October 24th so you won't have long to wait to hopefully find an ending to this amazingly different kind of paranormal romance. I did find parts of the story to be somewhat pulled a bit from reality since anyone who has had children knows that babies do not sleep soundly foe long periods of time during the day to allow their parents endless amounts of time in the bedroom but it was a nice vision to imagine. All other parts of the story were depicting and beautiful love story fated by reality and the sacrifices made for love were heartbreaking! I anxiously await the next book and the continuation of Jazzmyn's torment and dilemma.
I Received A Complimentary Copy Of This Book From The Author/Publisher In Exchange For My Honest Review!!!
This book is amazing. It picks up where the first book The Satyr's Curse left off. So, I recommend reading that first so that you fully understand what's going on in this book.
Jazzmyn and Kyle are living together and raising their daughter, but things aren't that great. Jazzmyn is worried that Julian is gonna show back up like he promised and she's keeping secrets from Kyle.
Jazzmyn hates Julian and fears the monster in him but she can't deny that she's drawn to him.
Julian is back and he's letting Jazzmyn know through the way of little gifts for her and Jacqueline. It's time for the reckoning and the curse to be lifted which is what Julian wants but he also wants his family with him.
From the moment I picked up this book and started it I couldn't put it down. I'm not scared to admit that I LOVE Julian. I know he's portrayed as evil but he's different and I found myself wanting and hoping for certain outcomes.
Will Julian finally get his reckoning and have the curse lifted and the family he wants? Who will Jazzmyn end up with in the end Julian or Kyle? If Kyle what happened to Julian? The only way to find out is to read this book. I promise you won't be disappointed and in no time you will be as lost in this story as I was.
Amazing job Alexadrea. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
I totally dislike you, Alexandrea Weis!!! F**K Kyle, I want Julian back!!! How could you do this to me.. I mean to him?!
Wow, this was a really great story. I fell into the pages and didn't want to return. This book was so intense I suffered a migraine. :) The author had my brain flip flopping in curiosity on the end. I found myself speed reading, then choose to slow down to savor every detail.
The author had it right on target with the emotions being felt between Julian and the baby. I enjoyed every love making scene between Julian and Jazz. Loved the sexual tension. Just enough leaving me sexually frustrated. Then I could feel her Jazz's orgasm or mine, Who knows? ;)
Excellent story line with specific historical facts. Everything just fit right into place. Never a bored moment.Just wanting more....... I have read many books from this author and have enjoyed them all.
I do love a good paranormal story!!! This book does not disappoint!
I didn't read the 1st book so I wasn't sure I would be able to follow the 2nd. The author was great at filling in the missing pieces of the 1st book!
Jullian Devereau is cursed. Jazzmyn is back working at her Bistro with Kyle (her chef and soon to be husband) and her daughter. She has her hands full and then Jullian comes back into her life!
Jazzmyn still feels for Jullian but loves Kyle.
The story line sucks you in.....love the characters and the storyline!
Loved it! This is such a different read. This series is so well written you won't believe the twists it takes. there is so much emotion in this book. In the first book you kinda hate the Satyr but in this one you don't so much. This girls heart is so confused about which man she loves more and she can't decide which one she wants. I think she loves both but in their own way. I can't wait to read the next one if their is because I am just so curious as to which direction the story will go in.
Yes, it took me a month to read but not because it is a bad read or even a difficult read...I had family medical issues to deal with and very little time to read. Actually, I truly loved the premise of this second book in the series - love can conquer all things.
Having hoped she’d freed herself from the unseemly bond that the Satyr man, Julian Devereau had connected with her since childhood, Jazzmyn Livaudais was trying to make a life for herself with her daughter, Jackie and her fiancé, Kyle but things weren’t going well. Kyle was pushing to get married but he’d begun drinking again even after promising her not to, especially at the restaurant. Then there were the strange dreams…sexy disturbing dreams of Julian and the sexual energy that always existed between them. Jackie seemed at odds as well, acting as if she didn’t like Kyle even though he was the only father her baby daughter had ever known. But then there were strange feelings of being watched, toys appearing out of nowhere and other things that kept her on edge. Jazzmyn was beginning to worry that Julian had returned and if he had, what he would do. He had not been happy when she and Ms. Helen sent him away in the cemetery that bizarre night.
A trip to one of the strongest voodoo witches tells her Julian Devereau is not done with her and it’s up to her to banish him forever before he stays forever, trapping her in his world—but can she do it?
I will warn you up front, THE SATYR’S CURSE series is a continuing story. To understand the second book, you must read the first and to find out what finally happens in the end, we’ll have to read the third book, which I’m looking forward to immensely.
Alexandrea Weis writes the most amazing stories set in New Orleans. She creates such an atmosphere around her characters that you want desperately to visit the city even before finishing reading the book. Whereas, this series is not a true romance in that there is not a happily-ever-after…at least, not yet…it’s a remarkable unique and suspenseful example of extraordinary women’s fiction and the relationship between men and women. She has many other series, which are equally good and I highly advise you perusing her book list. There seriously is something for everyone.
For me, I love her supernatural stories with voodoo, ghosts, and dark secrets lurking in the background, which keep you wondering about the characters and what’s really happening. This is exactly the setting for THE SATYR’S CURSE II – THE RECKONING. Julian Devereau is not a nice man. He’s selfish, self-centered, and highly egotistical but he’s also man from the past living in a modern age with antiquated ideals. He’s the man you wish you could truly despise but somehow you know there’s a good soul lurking within all the darkness and he's sexy as hell. I won’t tell you what happens but we get a glimpse of that light within the dark this time around.
Alexandrea takes us on a ride that keeps you changing your mind about Julian and Jazzmyn, and what she should do. What I love most about THE RECKONING is that it proves once again that the greatest gift is love and that love can conquer all things when it’s needed.
I highly recommend THE SATYR’S CURSE II – THE RECKONING by Alexandrea Weis if you love the unusual, the mysterious, and a story with such a dark core but in the end, you might just find yourself smiling.
***purchased for my own personal reading but sharing my honest and unscripted review.
The second installment to THE SATYR’S CURSE is freaking awesome and hot! I must say I truly enjoyed this one and recommend you read in order. You can probably get away with not reading the 1st book in the series but what fun is that ; )
It does continue on some months later than the 1st one. Jazzmyn and Kyle are the main characters in this one. We have lots of drama, action, and of course that dang curse. This one will keep you turning the pages to see how this relationship goes since love triangles are so much fun (well sometimes lol)
Alexandrea expands on building up the background of New Orleans and all sorts of good stuff on the side. Some of these secondary characters hopefully are expanded on in the next installment. I truly am interested to learn more.
Highly recommend if you love a good complicated love triangle with a curse on top of it : ) For sure would be great for any PNR fan. I'll be diving into the next one soon!
