A witch with secrets, her reluctant protector, and a murder to solve. What could possibly go wrong?
Delia Donovan has everything under control.
Keep her family's magical secrets hidden? No problem.
Rein in her own witchy powers? Easy.
Join a clandestine FBI task force to solve a cold case murder? She's got it covered.
But ignoring the intense sexual chemistry she has with the cocky jerk who heads her security detail? Well, that's another story.
The last thing Mark Cavan wants on his team is a supernatural Lawyer Barbie who traipses through crime scenes in designer clothes and stilettos. But he needs a magical asset to solve the case, and Delia is the perfect witch for the job.
He'll just have to somehow ignore his growing attraction to the infuriating woman. Seems doable. Right?
It's not long before Mark learns there's more to Delia than meets the eye—and Delia realizes that falling for Mark would be the easiest—and most complicated—thing she's ever done.
But they'll need to put their feelings on the back burner if they want to catch the murderer before they become the next victims.
If you love Michelle M. Pillow, Abigail Owen, K.F. Breene, or K.M. Shea, check out this series that listeners have described as a steamy Charmed meets Lucifier with witch sisters solving murder mysteries and finding true love.
Luna Joya writes steamy romances that are "wickedly delightful" (Publishers Weekly).
The "delightfully devious" Luna writes "action-packed paranormal romantic thrillers, singing with magical power and humming with sensuality that will leave readers breathless." (InD'Tale Magazine). A survivor of traumatic brain injury with steel body parts, Luna lives in SoCal with her combat veteran husband and their two-pound terror of a rescue pup.
“Magic Touch” is book 2 of the Legacy Series by Luna Joya. I tend to hesitate with new paranormal stories, as some have such overkill in world building that I have to constantly re-read parts to figure out what is actually supposed to be happening. That is not the case here! I found this book to be an enjoyable multi-layered and very well written paranormal romance.
Delia Donovan is a prosecuting attorney born an elemental witch. She is fiercely protective of her family and for the most part tries to keep her powers in check by not using them.
Mark Cavan ex-military turned FBI agent agrees to sign on to a task force attempting to solve a decades old cold case. Little does he know he is about to be exposed to a world he didn’t know existed.
These two are both strong minded take-the-lead types that are not thrilled to be working together. They have that your sexy but annoy the hell out of me vibe going from their first meeting. I enjoyed the baiting banter that went on between them as they learned about each other and grew closer.
This book has a nice balance of action, intrigue, mystery, magic, suspense and of course romance. These components all tie together well, while being laced with some interesting plot twists. Rounding out the story are interesting secondary characters and family members.
If you enjoy paranormal stories that are more relatable instead of fantastical, then this book is definitely for you. I for one will be going back to read “Tides of Time”, which is the first book in The Legacy Series.
I received an ARC via Hidden Gems Books and this is my honest review.
In a stellar follow-up to Tides of Time, Magic Touch stars Donvan sister Delia, a brilliant attorney, and Mark, a sexy and deliciously cocky FBI agent. The chemistry between Delia and Mark is scintillating and impossible to resist as they combine her magical powers with the joined forces of their professional expertise to solve a cold case and stop the sinister machinations of a dark magical plot--all while fighting growing feelings for each other. Talk about off-the-charts tension. Resistance ultimately gives way to a rich and profound emotional connection as they discover softer sides in each other, giving their attraction depth.
Every element of this story sticks the landing, from the hate-to-love sparks of desire to the snappy banter, all wrapped in a supremely satisfying plot that both underscores and complements the romance while keeping the reader invested and guessing as captivating mysteries unfold. Plenty of action moves the story forward at a fast clip, and the ending strikes a graceful balance between emotionally fulfillment and a tantalizing hook to leave the reader hungry for Book 3.
Huge thanks to the author and publisher for providing an advanced copy!
I just loved this book so much. Delia and Mark are AMAZING together. Their chemistry is off the charts. I love it when two very stubborn, smart, and tough people clash and fight but ultimately learn to respect and LOVE each other. Also the sex is HOT.
The world-building and the magic are fascinating. I love Delia's elemental power AND learning about Mark's connection to her world and its history. The team is great. All of the and I can't wait to see how their stories end-up and how they assist the sisters, who I LOVE as a family. Their loyalty to each other and the strength of their bonds, just make everything even better. Watching all Delia would do for Mina and how Ruby can kick-ass in style, it's all just wonderful.
Also, Perry is the best conflict, sexy villain ever. Seriously. And I can't wait to see what happens in the next book and how everyone's histories are connected even deeper. The world has so many layers and I want to read and learn them all. However, this book was just so fun and wonderful. Totally recommended.
Thanks for adding Magic Touch to your Want to Reads or sharing with friends! 💜Sex, mystery & magic 💜Enemies to lovers 💜Hot alpha hero 💜Prickly heroine 💜Hollywood murder mystery 💜Witch sisters Magic Touch and the rest of The Legacy Series is now available in Kindle Unlimited!
Excerpt: Chapter One Ice Queen. Delia Donovan’s scant file assured him she had more than earned the moniker. Maybe. Maybe not. When she stalked across the dirty warehouse floor, Mark Cavan wasn’t so sure. The prosecutor’s nickname captured her aloof bearing and couture threads. But he’d seen the way her car hurtled through the back door of the building two minutes ago with a recklessness defying her meticulous reputation. She stopped a step away and glared at him. Razor-thin stilettos put her at his eye level. Heat simmered beneath the regal shell. He offered his palm for a handshake. She flicked her gaze to his outstretched hand before angling to face their boss. Mark shoved his hands in his pockets and shrugged off the awkwardness. He’d survived the outcast treatment for years as a kid. He could tolerate it a few months if it got him back in the cockpit. “Tie her to the chair, Cavan.” Mark blinked at his boss’s blunt command. Donovan’s superiority irritated him. She wasn’t anybody’s idea of Miss Congeniality. But restraints? Circling the chair with an echoing click of heels on the cement, Donovan focused on Special Agent in Charge Anikalapokuti, called “A13” at the boss’s insistence. “What a direct approach to introductions.” Her voice snapped with a bite that reminded Mark of his stepdad’s moonshine. “Testing already, I presume?” A13 shuffled color-coded and tabbed folders on the flimsy desk. “We need to push the extent of your abilities. Think of this as a baseline. For your safety, you’ll be restrained.” He tapped a pen on an open file. “Agent Cavan, deposit your handcuffs and any weapons in the lockbox before you assist Ms. Donovan to her seat.” Mark’s Glock hung heavy at his side, a solidness he’d taken for granted until A13’s order. Why would he need to be unarmed? His assignment as protection detail to the Donovan sisters never made much sense to him. One was a recent college grad and the other a district attorney. But if he did three months on this task force to keep two women safe and crack one case, A13 had promised him a shot as a helicopter pilot on the hostage rescue team. The steady rotary thump of a helo pulsed straight to Mark’s heart. He’d agreed without hesitation. He’d met the younger sister half an hour ago, and she’d barely glanced up from the video game she’d been playing with other task force members. She’d yelled a quick hello before threatening to take another asset down. That sister wasn’t dangerous to anything but controller buttons and egos. What was the lawyer going to do? Argue him to death? “Now, Cavan.” A13’s tone demanded immediate compliance. Mark stripped his weapons and handcuffs and slammed the safe shut. Donovan settled at the chair’s edge, legs crossed at the ankles, skirt and jacket smoothed to cover every inch of skin possible. He crouched next to her and hunched his shoulders to take up less space. Scaring the asset would do him no good. He stretched slowly for the bindings near her ankles. She recoiled as his hand hovered inches away. “Don’t touch me.” So much for delicate flower. Maybe A13 had been on to something. He held his hands palms outward. “Okay.” “Ankle restraints won’t be necessary.” She didn’t invite contradiction from A13. Mark glanced toward his boss who stopped writing long enough to study the two of them. After an uncomfortable silence, A13 shook his head. Donovan held her upper body rigid above the armrests. Her expression dared Mark to finish the job. Tying her down should come with neon warning labels—satisfying but may result in ramping DEFCON levels of vendetta.
Delia Donovan is a district attorney. She joins a secret task force headed by Boss A13. What does a mysterious task force want with a psychometric air witch who doesn’t know how to use her powers?
Delia just cannot let her sister, Mina, join a group that wants to use her telepathic, time-travel skills. Delia is concerned; she doesn’t know the purpose of the group.
Mark Cavan, an ex-Marine, has been recruited to be part of the security detail and a bodyguard for Delia and Mina. How will Mark fight his attraction for Delia; no one can touch her!
There are lots of other characters with unique skills; more will join them along the way. Read about this diverse group trying to avoid the Revelare, the bad guys who will kill you if you won’t join them when they ask you.
This tale is an exciting book that catches your attention from the beginning. I want to read more about these Elemental witches, voodoo priestesses, sirens, and familiars.
I read Magic Touch without reading the first book in the Legacy series because I'd heard it could be a standalone and I was excited to get my hands on this one. Old Hollywood mysteries. Witches. A Marine with a mysterious past. Yes, please!
I really enjoyed this book. The Donovan sisters are each intriguing in their own right, and I'm excited to read each of their stories now. Delia and Mark were both such injured and guarded, but ultimately, loveable, characters. I loved the alternating POV's, and the flashbacks to 1940's Hollywood, as the mystery unraveled. And I LOVED double P! A lot of questions were answered, but I'm going to have to grab the next book to find out what happens next as the saga of the Legacies continues to unfold.
Luna Joya's writing was crisp and detailed, and I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.
Really, really enjoyed this book! I had already read the first book in the series, and was so lucky to get an ARC of this one. Magic Touch starts with a really gripping opening scene and gets even better from there. I loved how well the author balances background/details with action and dialogue - a very well-balanced, thoroughly entertaining read. Highly recommend, and can't wait for the next one! *I volunteered to review a copy this book in exchange for an honest review.*
If you haven’t read Luna’s debut (and book one in this amazing series) Tides of Time, skip your happy little hind end over to Amazon and one click that right now. Especially while it is listed as free for a limited time. You do NOT need to read it first to be able to follow Magic Touch, but you just need to experience this brilliance in writing because Ms. Joya is fabulous author fully deserving of a binge read.
I have weird tastes. I am NOT a fan of the uber popular alpha asshole characters, but give me a prickly female lead and a slightly cocky male character and I am picking my tongue up off the floor. Here’s the thing, excessive confidence that slightly borders on arrogance is hot as Hades and I will stand by that opinion forever.
With that, I introduce Delia and Mark. So Delia comes off as a total Ice Queen (legit, that’s her nickname) but she’s a barracuda in the courtroom. She takes the toughest of cases and, more often than not, makes sure justice is delivered swiftly and decisively. But she also has this whole touch issue that makes her comes off as cold and distant.
Her character type is one I love the most. A nearly impenetrable outer shell with a heart of absolute gold beneath. Delia is, far and away, not an Ice Queen. She is caring, compassionate, and merely has some magic powers she has to control hence the touch thing.
Yep. Our girl is a witch and her particular powers are of the psychometric variety. She gets the history of an object (or person) by touch and experiences events through their eyes.
Oh yeah and she can control air too. No big deal.
But let’s talk about Mark because, listen, if we don’t even go any deeper than the cover, I am all in for Mark. He is 100% my type rocking that tall, dark, and tatted thing like a BOSS. He also carries that slightly cocky swagger with a side dish of broken that I positively can’t resist. Yes, folks, Mark Cavan is totally my catnip.
And their chemistry is simply OFF THE CHARTS HOT. Seriously from their first encounter which was ANYTHING but sexy, they really set the stage with all the sexually charged energy that is too hot to handle.
Now, I don’t want to delve too deep into the plot because with suspenseful stories, I hate to give spoilers. Magic Touch follows the same fantastic world-building that Ms. Joya has made me expect as a dedicated reader. She also, once again, has managed to make a villain in Perry that I equally hated and was sympathetic toward. His story is sooooo intriguing and I have my fingers crossed that he gets his own redemptive HEA one day.
Any paranormal romance or fantasy lover would love any of the books in The Legacy series, but I would encourage you to try out Ms. Joya’s works if you’re not normally a fan of those genres. Her writing is transcendent and delicious and would appeal to a wide variety of book lovers.
Witch Delia Donovan feels she has everything under control - she has kept her family's magical secrets hidden and reigned in her powers all she has to do is stay in control when she joins a clandestine FBI task force to solve a cold case murder. But she's met her match when she has to try to ignore the intense sexual chemistry she has to the cocky jerk who leads her security detail. The last thing FBI agent Mark Cavan on the team he is assigned to is a supernatural lawyer Barbie who traipses through crime scenes in designer clothes and stilettos. But the job needs a magical asset with a particular skill and Delia fits the role perfectly. He just needs to ignore his growing attraction to the infuriating woman - surely an ex-marine can do that no problem? It’s not long before Mark learns there’s more to Delia than meets the eye—and Delia realizes that falling for Mark would be the easiest—and most complicated—thing she’s ever done. But they’ll need to put their feelings on the back burner if they want to catch the murderer…before they become the next victims.
Oh wow - just wow. The electricity between these two was off the chart and that did not detract at all from the complicated murder mystery that they start to investigate. There were so much drama and danger mixed into the undeniable pull that was there between the two of them it became a highly addictive story. I couldn't put it down and ignored everyone and everything in order to find out what was happening next. There were times in the story when I was broken-hearted for them and times when I was overjoyed. Well written and very easy to understand and feel. Contains some sexual content.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
It takes an extra sort of magic to create a female clan of witches, and Luna Joya possesses that Magic Touch. I grew up an only child, but oh I wish I was part of the Donovan family!
As an author, I rarely request ARCs (advanced review copies), and even more rarely review books. As a full disclosure, Joya has become a friend, which makes it even more joyous to enjoy her books.
When the first book in the series, Tides of Time, released, I quickly snatched it up and devoured it. If you read and/or are familiar with me, you should know I often write about witches, and I read paranormal romance. Mysterious & Mystical
Joya truly excels at crafting the suspenseful storyline. In romance, readers know the main characters will come together (they better!), but Magic Touch adds a murder mystery to the other elements, and I keep reading not just to live within the storyline but to find out what happens.
With the title, it should be easy to guess Delia’s magical talent. But ooooh, Joya has some secrets up her writing-sleeve that I won’t give spoilers for. Plus, hero Mark, aka the hunky FBI agent tasked to protecting Delia and her younger sister, Mina, has all the best elements of a wounded book boyfriend. I’m hooked, and ready for more.
Side note: There better be a spinoff for Z-squad member Siren, Zaida.
This second book in The Legacy Series by Luna Joya posed a unique set of problems for the four sister witches and their “friends”. First, join some mystery taskforce and solve two, not one, decades-old mysteries. Second, avoid some powerful magical group called The Revelare that wanted to kill one of them unless she voluntarily joined them. Third, don’t fall in love with a non-legacy as it is against Senate rules and witch laws to dilute the genetic line with impure people. And, fourth, do all this without revealing your magical witch powers to the world in general. Simple, right? Of course, it wasn’t at all. The developing romantic part of the story put the characters through some very high and hot times to some very depressingly low ones as Delia and Mark try NOT to like let alone love one another. The other items on the to-do list keep the story moving along at a nice pace with action and suspense combined with re-actions. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series when the author finally releases it. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
Magic Touch was a really cool book. It's the second in a series, and, in my opinion is better than the first book. Like the first book, it's fun and easy to read with characters that you care about. Unlike the first book, this one is a little less focused on the romance (although there is plenty of steamy moments) and more focused on the murder they are trying to solve.
I don't want to give anything away, but I will tell you one of the best things the author did in this book. If you've read the first book or the synopsis of this book, you know that Delia can hold certain items and see the past (it's more nuanced than that, but that's the general idea). In the book, instead of her explaining what she sees, the author does a flash back...but she shows you that story too. It makes the book more interesting and makes it easier to invest in the story.
There are some predictable pieces in the book, but they don't take too much away from the story. I definitely recommend trying this book, even if you weren't sure about the first one.
Former Marine, now FBI Special Agent Mark Cavan is assigned as protection detail to the Donovan sisters for three months. He'll do it for a chance to get a shot at getting on the hostage rescue team as a helicopter pilot. He has no idea what he's in for.
Delia Donovan is a witch, a psychometric and can control air. She's also a Los Angeles deputy district attorney specializing in sex crimes and murders.
Delia and her sister, MIna, have been recruited to an off-the-books parapsychological task force to solve a cold case. They are joined by a sniper, a siren and voodoo priestess.
Sparks fly as Delia and Mark butt heads but neither can help the attraction that grows between them, while they work to solve an old murder and avoid threats by a secret organization after Delia.
Action, intrigue, adventure, flash backs to early 1900's mafia and a forbidden love.
I received a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/

Delia has the power of touch. She reads the history of anything or anyone that she touches except her family. When she get paired with Mark Cavan she both wants nothing to do with him, and for him to get closer to her but is afraid of what her power might do.
Mark Cavan doesn't want to be babysitting a grown woman, especially when the desire he feels can't be reciprocated. But this may be his one chance to get back behind the controls of helicopters. His boss has promised him that if he finishes this job smoothly he'll assign him back to the bird teams he desires.
What will happen when the chemistry between the two flair up? Will they find a way to be together or will fate hold them at arms length? Read the book to find out, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book myself.
I did receive a copy of the book for free, but couldn't wait to continue reading more about these captivating sisters.
This is fast becoming one of my favorite series! I am so happy that this was Delia’s book. I wanted to know more from her after reading the first book. Delia is strong and protective of her family. Enter Mark. They butt heads but can’t deny an attraction to each other. The story has danger, action, and that magic touch. I couldn’t put it down! I loved the new characters and I hope they are in the next books. The author manages to combine a really awesome story with magic woven into it and the magic each one has is unique. Those little touches from the author add so much! I loved the flashbacks. I felt transported to another time. I can’t wait for the next one! I give this 5 stars.

3.5-4 I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review, and I thought it was supposed to be a standalone book in a series. Although the romantic story line is a standalone, the rest of the book is not. At the beginning it was a bit confusing keeping track of all the characters, and previous relationships that were hinted at. I felt like I was always a step behind reading this book. Then, it ended without a ton of stuff being completed or explained. Not exactly a cliffhanger, but not a neatly completed mystery either. I still have a ton of questions about Mark's father and the two opposing magical power structures. However, I did like the characters and there were no super distracting editing issues. Overall, it was a decent read and I picked up the first book to see if it fills in any holes.
Mark is brought into a secret paranormal group with 4 witches and a siren that are battling evil groups. This is the first exposure for Mark. Delia is one of the 4 witches that is drained when she uses too much of her magic and Mark becomes very protective of her and their love hate relationship turns into a more love relationship. The group is investigating some old murders that lead into an evil group that wants Delia on their team. Mark learns some secrets about his past as well as the girls learning more about their family. Interesting read with lots going on. I liked the witchy aspect and the action, but the story was a little long to get to the point of the story which sort of fell flat for me. Lots of unanswered questions. I received an ARC and I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I really enjoyed this book, there was a bit too much back and forth in it, but the premise and the characters are really enjoyable. You think you have read every variation of witchy book there is and then a refreshing book like this comes along that is just different enough to arouse your interest. Dels and Mark are an intriguing couple that I enjoyed getting to know about! If you like magic and paranormals as well as some hot sex, this book is for you!
(Please note that I received a free advance ecopy of this book without a review requirement, or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)
Magic Touch is the second in the series. A witch family unusually has a representative of each element-earth,air,fire, and water-in the 4 sisters. Two of the women work with a government agency that is aware of the existence of paranormal entities. Their special powers make them valuable in solving crimes both old and new. Mark Cavan, ex-Marine with a difficult past is brought in to provide protection. There are immediately sparks between him and the older sister, Donovan. Add in an interesting, unsolved, old Hollywood murder with gangsters and starlets, a new apparently cult-related murder, a murky power-hungry paranormal group, and various family secrets and it results in a fast-paced, entertaining story. The romance is hot but is balanced by a fun plot and good storytelling.
This is the second book in this series, but the focus is on another sister not on the same one as in the first one. While it did take a little bit to get invested in the book, once I did, it was a wild ride until the end. Delia, or Duchess, is an interesting character who can’t have people touch her or she sees too much. I love her family, and there were some interesting reveals about the magic world that wasn’t revealed in the first book. I enjoyed the romance between the two characters, and even Mark’s ego didn’t get in the way of my enjoyment. I did like this book, and if you like paranormal romance, give this one a try. You don’t need to have read the first one, but it would help if you did. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I received an ARC of this book without reading the first. I can attest that you don't need to have read the first book in the series for this story to make sense! The book starts off right in the action and there was rarely a moment when the characters weren't firing on all cylinders! I really enjoyed this book - the chemistry was great, the character development was well done, and the story-line was enjoyable.
The only snags that occasionally pulled me out of the book was the occasional typo or abrupt scene change, and the former complaint is likely only because I was lucky enough to receive an ARC. I would recommend this author, and I am going to go back and read her backlog!
Mystery, romance, action and magic. Mark and Delia had great chemistry and their journey from antagonistic, to flirty to more was fun and believable. I also enjoyed both the current day mystery they were working to solve and the flashbacks to the 1940’s mystery.
This is the second in the Donovan sisters series of PNR about four witch sisters but can be read as a standalone. I had not read the first book but did not have any trouble picking up the threads of the story or the world building although I do want to go back and read the first book now.
I volunteered to review an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this second Legacy book. From the very beginning the action never stopped as two sisters work with other magical characters. All the characters working this suspenseful thriller meshed so well together, that I thought of them more of a family within a family. I really love reading about strong female characters and the Donovan family delivers. The interaction between Delia Donovan and Mark Cavan is funny at times and hold your breath exciting when danger comes knocking. I recommend reading this magical FBI thriller and dare you to try to put it down. I was not able to and stayed up all night reading cover to cover.
I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first book, which for me had many problems.
I enjoyed watching Delia grow as a person and fall in love with Cavan. Although he didn't seem to have as much character growth. And I found the pace a little weird... The book only encompassed a week... Maybe 2 and they were more intense like it had been months.
I really enjoyed the plot arc, it definitely made me happier about reading the next book, as it had a co major plot arc with a decent romance plot and it sounds like the next book will continue the major plot with a smaller personal plot, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the major story arc goes 😊
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Intense! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Action, threats, and potential romance keeps things tense. Delia Donovan's power has, for the most part, been hidden from her so she is just now coming into her own of figuring out all she can do. Mark Cavan has been sent to watch guard over her from an unknown threat that is a mystery yet very real. These two are very stubborn but it's mostly for their own self-preservation.
A great ride. There are some minor plot holes I'd like filled in but overall I liked it and I really want to read on in the series to learn more about her sisters.
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems)
I was sceptical about whether I’d enjoy this genre as I’ve not read one before and I really enjoyed it. It was really gripping at the start, it did get a little slow for me halfway through but if you stick with it you won’t be disappointed at all as it picks up again. The only thing I would’ve liked was an epilogue as it doesn’t feel like their chapter has properly closed but other than that I loved it. It’s the first book I’ve read from this author and I really enjoyed it. I read this book as an ARC.
A cold case, a magical task force, and not one but two protectors made this a thrilling read. To protect her sister, frosty district attorney and secret witch Delia joins a task force to solve an old Hollywood cold case, and FBI agent Mark is her protector. As they work the case, magical baddies complicate their lives and threaten to expose Delia’s family. Mark finds himself drawn to the Ice Queen, who melts for him. From the first scene, Magic Touch is a masterclass in tension, and it kept my attention to the end.
This is the 3rd book I have read from Luna Joya and I have loved all 3 of them! This book revolves around Delia and Mark. Their chemistry is absolutely amazing! This book hooked me very quickly and held on until the end. There is action, romance, magic and the details of the society of witches is very well written. It was very easy to visualize the charcters and scenery. I can't wait to read the next one.
