Sweetness and Blight details the Machiavellian delights by which this Manhattan Juliet, Amelia Barnes, wins over her Romeo. As heirs of contending Wall Street clans, Charles Everett and Amelia meet at the funeral of his ruined father. Lovely, lively, and unfailingly kind, she apologizes, though disavows her part in the destruction of his family firm and fortune. In the interest of healing, Amelia offers support both emotional and practical. Charmed by her comforts (and without other options), Charles marries and moves in with this youthful femme. Though she remains genuinely affectionate at all times, and is never even impolite, Amelia swiftly divests the former power broker of all other companions, interests, and any indulgences or pleasures... except for those coinciding with her satisfying her own demands.
There are nearly twenty Lance Edwards titles in print, eight novels and ten short story collections. All are hardcore erotic fantasies about dominant women. Lavishly detailed indulgences in sadomasochistic sex, they may be too adventurous for the comfort of most.
Settings are generally contemporary. Historical, paranormal, and metaphysical elements occasionally explore the concept of eternal soul-slavery. Other recurrent themes include fanatical reverence for femininity, revenge for the sins of men and the denial of orgasm despite relentless stimulation. The appeal of submission is explored more than the thrill of sadism. Still there is a surfeit of cruelly creative bondage, discipline, torture and degradation with a particular emphasis on pegging. Forced feminization, medical invasions, water sports, body modification and cuckoldry are also regular features. Content is about evenly split between consensual and non-consensual relationships, as well as those that begin as one and evolve into the other. Romantic love, commitment, and other uplifting ideals often join or obviate darker motivations, but generally such niceties are subordinate to the simple sating of appetites.
The author suffered a diving accident at age twenty-two. A quadriplegic, he has spent the years since writing these stories as therapy: venting the pressures imposed by his condition. As a defense against the loss of so much else (or as an endless indulgence in impotent keyboard-beating), this continues to be effective and productive. The author is flattered and gratified that others find value in his admittedly kinky obsession.
This is an extremely cruel Femdom story and contains almost all the elements readers of this genre enjoy. Characters are well built. Buildup delivers goosebumps as well has excitement. And many scenes are thrilling, as if in a horror story. Hence, I believe everyone interested in this general would enjoy this story.
You will ask why I'm not giving it all five stars, and calling it a masterpiece. It's because I didn't like it's ultra-slow pacing throughout the book. I mean, that slowness has worked really well for me in the earlier chapters. It was one of the best things of this book in the buildup phase. But once we had passed that, such slowness started to halt the main story flow. It felt dragging. Several passages became boring to read.
I think a story that literally has no serious twists, and the reader somewhat already knows the ending, things should have accelerated much faster in later parts. But that can also be a matter of preference. Some people might also consider it the best Femdom Erotica for the same reason for which I'm dropping one star.
Nevertheless, I found it a very good book, and very close to a masterpiece of the genre. I will highly recommend this to everyone interested in a non-consensual Femdom Erotica containing extreme cruelty.
