When Tobin Decker disappears on a trip to the Boundary Waters in the lake country of northern Minnesota, the only potential witness is a young woman with a dark past. But she isn't talking.
Georgia Calvo has spent most of her life trying to rewrite her own backstory. At two, she witnessed her own father's murder, though she remembers none of it. For years afterward, she lived like a fugitive, perpetually caught between the painful truth and a life-defining lie.
As an adult, Georgia still distrusts the police, but the pressure on her to talk is mounting. What she does know is that something terrifying happened in those woods, something she can't define but also can't forget. The answers are there, hidden in some of Minnesota's remotest swampland. To reckon with her own past and to find out what happened to Tobin, she has no choice but to go back...
Thanks Booksirens for the ARC of Boundary Waters by Sawyer Hall
Book was about main character Georgia, she goes to Boundary Waters on an excursion with a few others, she comes back traumatized after Tobin goes missing, she is scared to go to an institution if she doesn't soon explain what she saw, but she is not ready to tell her story yet Then she keeps going back annually to see if she can get back in touch with Tobin as he lives in the other world, or thin world. I interpreted that he hadn't passed on completely. This wasn't really my kind of novel, I found the story line a bit confusing as what happened on her trip wasn't clear, although I did like the plot, I kept hoping that there would be a bit more clarity to what was actually going on. Too much was left unexplained. Was Georgia's inherited condition making her see things or was it reality. The story starts current day and then fast forwards to a year and then a few more years down the road. This is the first novel I have read from this author and I would read another.
Phenomenal story and could not, literally, put down this book. The story grabbed me immediately (and this isn't even my normal genre)!!! LOVED how the story of Tobin and Georgia ran the full gamut of emotions. The rollercoaster ride of emotions that follow their total extremes of a love story with loads of surprises and unexpected turns. Don't want to give anything away on this fantastic story and ride one buckles up for. Highly recommend this book, story for a great read!
I have enjoyed this book so much, I am gifting it!!
