Lincoln Peirce is a cartoon artist from Portland, Maine. He lives with his wife and two children, and occasionally gives lectures to students about cartoon creating. Peirce writes the comic strip "Big Nate". Peirce's comic strip, Big Nate, is featured as an island on the famous children's website, Poptropica. Big Nate appears as the first cartoon on The Maine Sunday Telegram in the comics section.
He studied art at Colby College in Maine were he began cartooning. He also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture before teaching art and coaching basketball at a New York highschool for 3 years. He currently plays hockey with "an old men's league" and describes it as his best sport as a child. In an interview with the Washington Post, Peirce stated that his last name is pronounced "purse" and is not a misspelling of "pierce."
Lincoln Peirce was a member of the "Surviving as a Print Cartoonist" Panel at the Maine Comics Art Festival with fellow cartoonists Corey Pandolph (Barkeater Lake, Toby: Robot Satan, The Elderberries), Norm Feuri (Retail, Gill) and with Mike Lynch moderating. On the panel Lincoln revealed he is currently working with some animation and licensing projects including the addition of a Big Nate island to the online game Poptropica.
This is Big Nate squeezed into the form of a traditional comic strip with a big page for the Sunday Edition. Still as much fun as the other Big Nate books I've read.
With this format, we get a series of 'short stories' compared to the regular 'novels' of the other books. Peirce uses this format to dig into the main characters of Nate, Francis and Teddy, rather than expand the overall world and introduce new characters in the manner he did with Dee-Dee in previous books. It's a big change in style and format, but the author makes it work and is as much fun as the novels.
Highly recommended for fans of Big Nate, Lincoln Peirce, or the 'Wimpy Kid' style of books for kids.
it's just funny how they try to make a plan and it goes the other direction. By that i mean like they go all places and it's just interesting how they do stuff and not get caught. But other then that its a good good and i recommend to for you to read.
This book is in black in white, while some of the other Big Nate books are in color. In this Big Nate book, Nate and his friends are hanging out together and having fun. I thought it was funny that Big Nate threw a basketball and it got stuck right behind the hoop - that was my favorite part. I would recommend this book for anyone, really who likes to laugh.
Nate is back at school and back with his friends. He's also back to warring with Mrs. Godfrey, even after she saves his wife. His sharp mouth is on display as is his creepiness in obsessing over Jenny.
So interesting! I have not regreted reading this book! This book has so much humour... More than most books! Throughout this book, Nate plans a mastermind plan, but gets caught by Mrs. Goferry.
Big Nate What could possibly go wrong? Book Review by: Bo T.
Who thinks detention would be cool? Is four dollars too much to get entered into a school dance? Will Nate ever get a girlfriend? “Big Nate, What could possibly go wrong?” by Lincoln Peirce is a book filled with laughter. The book follows Nate, a 6th grader, that goes through life and goes through all of the trouble of 6th grade.
This book is about Nate’s adventure through 6th grade. The story starts with Nate choking on a peppermint and Mrs.Godfrey doing the heimlich maneuver. Throughout the book Nate is trying to get a girlfriend and failing his mission. Nate tried to do better in art. When he finished an art project, Mr.Rosa said that it would take a full period to finish the art project. Nate uncaringly said “if it's art it’s art”. Another thing that Nate did in the book was him and his buddy, Teddy, took away a facts book from another friend, Frances. Frances loved the book and never wanted to stop reading it. So that's why Nate and Teddy took away the facts book cause it got really annoying to them. Also Nate believes that detention was a good thing but then when he constantly kept going to detention he found out that it was not a good thing.
My opinion on this book is that it's funny and relatable to me because we're both in 6th grade. I think other 6th graders would love reading this book as well. One thing I didn't like about this book was that Nate thought detention was cool i dont think that other 6th graders would like that Nate thinks detention is cool either. I thought that it seemed like the author put a really good focus into this book.
In conclusion I would read this book again. It made me laugh and it made me feel empathy for him. This book made me excited and made me feel like I want to read the other books in the series. Lincoln Peirce did a fantastic job of creating this book, “Big Nate What Could Possibly Go Wrong?”.
Big Nate What Could Possibly Go Wrong is a series of stories about Nate’s middle school experience. One of the main stories is about Nate’s crush on the same girl since 1st grade. Her name is Jenny. A big problem for Nate is that she does not like him, she likes a boy named Arthur. Another main storyline is that while Nate’s thinking about Jenny, he’s not focused on other things he has to do, such as a big research project due soon. And worst of all, he doesn’t remember his topic. Through all this, Nate is desperately trying to find a date to the dance his school is having. He’s not having any luck though, because every girl in the school has rejected him. By the end of the book, all of the storylines about Nate’s different middle school experiences are resolved one way or another. Unfortunately, Nate’s crush still doesn’t like him. In fact, Jenny dislikes him more because he ends up annoying her all year long. As for his project, Nate tries to search the teacher’s desk for his topic and gets caught. He gets in lots of trouble, the teacher even calls his dad, but she does tell him what his topic is. Then his dad makes him stay up all night to finish the project since it’s due the next day. The school dance doesn’t have a much happier ending. Nate goes without a date and ends up hanging out with the DJ for most of the night, talking about Jenny. There are many other things that happen to Nate in the book, but these are the main stories.
Summary "Big Nate what could possibly go wrong" is a fiction chapter book, graphic novel and also a book that is within a series. Nate, who is the main character has a hard time following the school rules and will often talk back to his teachers.
Opinion This book is light-hearted and an easy read with pictures on every page. I would not personally like to sit down and read a graphic novel time and time again but I know that for some students this is the kind of literature that they fall in love with.
Teaching Idea In my placement, I have had two students who are in sped that love graphic novels just like this book. Personally, I do believe that there are betters forms of literature BUT something is better than nothing.
Part of my Reading Challenge for my class....read 20 books by the end of the year, books they would like! This is Book #4 of the Challenge!
I loved it! I really think the comic strips are in there to make the teachers and parents laugh! This is a graphic novel about an upper elementary-middle school boy, his family and friends. As I read it and enjoyed the stories, I can see why this is a favorite series for my boy students. These stories are a hoot!
Like I said, I think it is humor for those of us who find the absurdity in the ordinary.
BBC directed vector it dye suite I it chuff gjfxjfxgjfxxgjdxdxtxhfzxdxfdjxdfdx hash buddy did grant yet your own money? If it is so much cheaper and if you're a big enough person in this country to go on it and get to work it chuff the money they want it and not for it your way you are my way my parents do this and yay you all of us are in our lives for us? Even though they are funny the only reason the big Nate books are as funny as they are is because they make you feel smart. Big nag looks dumb and this causes you to think you are smart. This is not the only instance of this happening is also happens in sitcoms and many other forms of entertainment. But still these books are some of the better comics in comic history but still there are comics like the far side, peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, and many others.
GO BIG NATE!! I loved a lot, but who doesn't like Nate? I mean he is super funny and makes a really great character overall! anyway, this book was kind of short as a lot of graphic novels are so 4/5?
