Rate this book
Love is God’s greatest gift, and sometimes what you’re looking for has been yours all along.

When her Aunt Ivy invites Rachel Moretz to come to the family’s Stanly County farm, she jumps at the chance. Though Rachel loves her parents’ mountain farm, she feels isolated there. There are no other teenagers at home, and at 16 she’d like to finally have some friends her age.

The trip down the mountain will bring unexpected friendships, suitors, and dangers, and Rachel will have to rely on family for support as she faces unexpected trials and prejudices.

She barely remembers her half-cousin, Patrick, though he seems to have intriguing memories of her. He soon becomes Rachel’s best friend, helping her navigate many uncertainties while introducing her to Stanly County society.

Through her circumstances, Rachel must come to realize that the best plan for her life is God’s plan, and that forgiveness comes in many forms.

In Transplanted to Red Clay , the final book in the Appalachian Roots series, the Moretz family’s story comes full circle in love.

Good historical Christian fiction

This was the last book in this series. I hated for the series to end as I enjoyed all four books in the series. This book follows Luke and Leah's only daughter and Ivy and Sam's son, Patrick that we met in book three, as they navigate young adulthood and falling in love. This is after the civil war yet prejudice is still very heavily shown in the south. This book also touches briefly on the KKK. Another great christian book where lessons on trusting God and letting him lead our way is such a better way to live. A great conclusion to the seriess.

This is the 4th book in the series by Hopkins. And while I enjoyed it well enough, it was the exact same story as the first three. *possible small spoilers ahead*
Even down to the female protagonist getting kidnapped by the bad guys. It gets a little tired.
Rachel and Patrick are likable enough as love interests, but when I saw that first cousins (even half ones) were going to fall in love I let out a little groan. It would have been different if the little boy who doted on Rachel in her babyhood had been the son of a close friend, but them being cousins - even if it was done back then - was just too much.
I like that the characters have strong faith, but it almost seems unrealistic at times.

One of the things I loved most about this book was that it didn't end with the wedding. The story continues till after their first child, and as the final story of the series, it wraps up the previous stories as well. One of the things I loved most about this series, is that it's multigenerational!
I enjoyed this narrator a lot! Her soft spoken voice and cadence were perfect!

I really enjoyed this story and the characters were easy to connect with. This story was about the historical Pioneer times of our country. I enjoyed how the Lord was a integral part of their lives. I recommend the book&author
