Book one of the Guardian of Windrose series has proven that I am waiting for book two 😊 I had to re-read the beginning to fully understand fate has control and once she takes over there isn’t much, we can do but go along with it. Alana life hasn’t been easy, she learned what true sadness is after her parents were murdered and not really knowing how to deal with it, she hid herself off in the sanctuary of Miranda’s Forest looking for some type of peace, ease her of survivor guilt and accepting everything happens for a reason. While there she sees a wolf walking around in the forest so close to her property but what surprises her is that she isn’t afraid of him. Devlin sexy as all get out Guardian, a shape shifter with one goal to protect the Windrose of the west but what keeps him so close to her is that she is his mate and now he just has to help her see the power within herself and to accept him as her mate. Devlin knows she is the key to the magical gem and all the powers that one gem contain is controlled by Alana. Alana has been through so much accepting all that the sexy wolf/man is her mate, or the magic he speaks of and that the sexy man is her guardian but she can’t deny the attraction that is growing stronger and getting to the point that it can’t be ignored for either of them but until she accepts who she is and her abilities then peace is something she will continue to search for and Devlin will give his life to ensure her safety but she isn’t making it easy. His ability to guide her is tested when others come after her, Alana needs to grow up FAST make a decision stick with it, listen to him because he hasn’t lead her astray yet otherwise she will find herself in more trouble than a little, so hang on because each page will have you wondering what’s next but the one question is where is it all headed? .

The Windroses are special women who have special abilities and are bonded to a very powerful stone. The prior Windrose gives birth her first born, the next Windrose's Guardian. The Guardian's job is to find the next Windrose when it is time and to protect her from all threats. He also has to teach her about her new job and abilities. The two are destined mates. It has been a couple of hundred years since the last Windroses were discovered and it is time for the new generation. When the new Windrose appears, the old windrose becomes mortal again. Devlin is the son of the Windrose of the west and a shifter. The signs all point to his windrose of being around but he has no clue of who she is until she stumbles across him taking care of an enemy. Somehow he will have to get her to trust him and keep her safe while their enemies stalk her.
Alana grew up in foster homes. She suspects that she has some unusual abilities because of weird things that keep happening around her. She is also having weird dreams that cause her insomnia. When she can't sleep, she goes out to Miranda's woods to run even though everyone says the woods are cursed. Alana feels at home there and wants to make her home there. One night she is out for a run, she watches a strange man get attacked by a huge wolf. Then the wolf turns into a man. Terrified she runs to the police but they don't believe her. More weird things happen with strange animals who all wear a tag with the name Devlin. When Devlin saves her, she starts to trust him but then he tells her an amazing story where she is expected to save the world. Alana is terrified of the responsibility.

She discovers a wolf prowling in the forest in front of her property, yet she does not feel afraid, and she does not know why.
Devlin is a Guardian shape shifter and his only goal is to protect the Windrose of the West. He knows that Alana is his true mate, but she does not believe it. She is the key to a magical gem and the powers it contains. Alana needs to accept who she really is and Devlin is by her side guiding her.
There is action and suspense that will have you full of tension and angst. Seeing Devlin safeguard his mate and helping her to accept her predetermined future was amazing to experience. Definitely a 5-star read.

Alana moved to Deer Park after the death of her parents and strange events happen.
The police ruled her parents death a murder/suicide but Alana knew they had been murdered. When she had left they had been happy celebrating that they were expecting a baby. After this she moves to Deer Park working in the local store. Going for a run in the woods she sees a man in a suit being killed by a wolf but when she reports it to the police they laugh at and she knows it will go no further. In the following weeks she sees the wolf in the forest but he makes no attempt to hurt her and despite of the strange happenings she feels at home in the woods.

Devlin is a Guardian of the Rose and a shapeshifter. Alana lost her parents at an early age and disappeared into Mirandas Woods to find solace. They meet when Devlin gets too close to her home and the relationship jump starts as he preps her for her future and theirs. The characters are well developed with strength and determination. The storyline was fast paced and full of drama, great dialogue, visuals, surprises, big decisions, destiny calling, steam, and much more. Loved the details about the Rose, the Guardian and the gem. Their chemistry sealed it. Great ending.

Ok, so the beginning of the book was confusing AF. There was no point of reference given to the plot and I felt like I was just dropped in to the middle of it and I had no idea what was going on around me. When I finally got into the book after I had to put it down for a few days it got better. Devlin and Alana were true and faded mates but Alana has a problem coming to accept that. His only Job is to protect the Windrose and his mate. The story is full of suspense, action and angst and I can’t wait for more.

A great story. Alana knows that she is different from others but she is not sure how. She moves to a new town for a new start after her parents are killed. She is trying to keep a low profile and not be noticed. Devlin is a Guardian and is there to protect his Windrose Alana. Alana doesn't believe that she will be a good Windrose and refused to accept her fate. Will Devlin be able to convince her to keep him and become the Windrose?.

This is a fantastic start to this new series and I can’t wait to read book 2, I loved the characters Alana who is a sorceress but she doesn’t believe that she is the Windrose of the West she went into the forrest to runaway from the pain of her parents being murdered. Devlin a sexy shapeshifter and guardian of the Windrose of the West he is always patrolling around Alana’s fence line to protect his mate Alana no matter what. This is a fantastic story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend this book.

The beginning of this book was very confusing. It just drops you into the plot and I had no frame of reference. I didn't like Alana and stopped reading at one point. But I cane back to it and it got better. The story has real promise to be a good series. Devlin was terrific. Alana got better but her indecision got old fast. This was an amazing start to the Guardian of the Windrose series but can be read as a standalone. Alana and Devlin were true fated mates. This story had so much danger and suspense it kept me enthralled to the end. Devlin loved and protected Alana through everything. Amazing hot, steamy, shifter romantic suspense story with truly wonderful HEA. Can’t wait for the next book! .

Surprisingly good!
New to me author, Lexa Jade weaves a great story of fate, protectors, jewels that need protected from evil forces. Immortals that can shapeshift, humans that are liaisons for them, and a bad guy are the perfect storm for this book.
