The Veil is a biblical fiction book about the tearing of the veil inside the Jewish tabernacle when Jesus died on the cross. We don't know of any eye witnesses to this from the Bible, but in the bibilical fiction story, The Veil, a Priest and a young boy who is being trained to become a Priest are eyewitnesses to this spectacular event. Come along on this journey and experience this heart-pounding, fear-inducing, yet awe-inspiring event that holds so much meaning to the Christian faith.
There are references to the tearing of the veil in 3 books of the Bible (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), "the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom." Inside the Tabernacle were two rooms, The Holy Place and the Holiest of Holies. The veil separated these two rooms. The Holiest of Holies was where God lived and only one Priest was allowed to enter that room and only after being both physically and spiritually cleansed.
The tearing of the veil upon Jesus' death represents what Jesus did for mankind on the cross--he paid the ultimate price for our sin, so we are no longer separated from a Holy God, our Creator. Therefore, we now have access to God because of the blood of Jesus. All of our sins are forgiven and we are made righteous. There is no more guilt to bear for our sins. We are free! Hallejuah!
This book was written to inspire all who listen to it regardless of age to "live" the experience and contemplate the wonderful gift Jesus gave us when He died upon the cross. But, his death was not final. He was raised from the dead in 3 days as was predicted by ancient prophets in the Bible. Because he was raised from the dead, He overcame death. We do still die physically, but after we die, if we have accepted this free and wonderful gift that Jesus offers us, we will join Him and His Father (God) and the Holy Spirit in Heaven and live for all eternity!
At the end of the book is a prayer and an opportunity to accept Jesus as your personal Savior so that you can accept His gift and live forever! Your eternity starts the moment you accept Jesus into your heart. You will live without guilt or shame from any past or future sins you may commit, if you sincerely repent. You will know LOVE like you have never known it before. You will know JOY and PEACE no matter the circumstances you are in. You will find a FRIEND that will NEVER leave you and that's Jesus!

A story that speaks to you no matter what walk of life or path you are on. I enjoyed the author's writing and the way the words and the story flowed. Beautiful and mesmerizing in its own way. Beautiful writing.
I am not Jewish, but many people dear to my heart are, so reading this what it is like for a boy to step into manhood is eye opening. The boy the story surrounds, who is going to man hood, learns of the things he must to become a man The ripping of the veil, was not something I had much knowledge on, but the story intrigued me, and made me want to understand more. I felt for Samuel, the boy the story is about, he became an understudy, and there, he would never return home, because of the path he is on now. I find that heart breaking, but yet even though he was chosen for it, perhaps it is a path he will grow to choose? I really enjoyed this author and the story they created. Visually, my eyes as well as my heart are open more, and I want to know more. I will be doing my own research for sure in relation to events of this book, as I want to understand more now that I got a taste. SO glad I got to read this book, definitely an eye opener.
I did not know much about traditions and such of being Jewish, but reading this book really helped me embrace what I did not know. A must read for sure! Highly recommend this author. and their book!
Love the writing style , when we first meet Samuel asking his farther for help , him preparing for his first reading , it’s written in such a way that you can actually “feel”the scene playing out and what I found really special is that his reading is an intimate family event .
The priest selects Samuel to participate in the Passover and serve at the tabernacle and as I understand it it’s quite an honour 🙏❣️
Samuel may be a young boy but he’s devout and dedicated and I admire that in him ❣️
The Priest and Samuel are walking towards the Tabernacle when they come across people talking about Yeshuah , Jesus and his imminent condemnation and it’s Samuel’s reaction that had me wondering how many other people had the very same reaction on that day ….
Then the curtain separates , the ground begins to shake and I could feel their fear and confusion, their realisation of what actually happened and who He really was 😱🙏
It was good to read these events from someone else’s perspective, someone who was “there” it makes one take a moment to think and process from another point of view .
Once I finished reading this , I just spent time reflecting on the events that secured my salvation ❣️🙏
What an incredible gem of a book! The Veil may be brief in length, but its impact is eternal. Wanda Luthman has crafted a story that’s more than historical fiction, it’s an encounter with the living God.
I love biblical fiction that fills in the gaps of Scripture without deviating from truth, and Luthman does this masterfully. She builds a world within the temple, describing the rituals, the reverence, and the fears of those serving in God’s house. You can feel the tension of what happens if you’re not spiritually clean? What does it mean to be in the presence of the Holy One?
When Jesus dies and the veil tears, the narrative crescendos in an unforgettable moment. I felt my heart pound reading it. It reminded me of the power of Jesus’ sacrifice in a visceral, unforgettable way. It’s one thing to read the words in Matthew or Mark; it’s another to walk in the shoes of someone who saw it happen.
This book would be perfect for youth groups, Bible study discussions, or anyone who wants a deeper connection to the passion of Christ. And the prayer at the end is beautiful. I’ll be gifting this book to friends and family, it’s that meaningful.
The Veil is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the emotional and spiritual weight of Jesus’ death on the cross. Wanda Luthman has created a story that blends imagination with biblical truth in a way that touched me to my core.
I found myself especially drawn to the young apprentice in the story. His innocence, his questions, his fear all of it felt so real and relatable. As someone who grew up in the church, I’ve often read about the veil being torn, but this book helped me understand the true gravity of that moment. It wasn’t just fabric being torn; it was the end of an era the beginning of access to God for everyone.
The descriptions of the temple, the rituals, and the holiness of the space were powerful. I could almost smell the incense and feel the cold stone underfoot. The narrative makes you feel like you’re really there, standing in awe as the curtain splits from top to bottom by a power no man could wield.
The conclusion is what sealed this book’s impact for me. The invitation to accept Jesus wasn’t manipulative or overly emotional, it was honest, simple, and incredibly moving. This book isn’t just fiction; it’s ministry. And I’m grateful for it.
This is the first book I've read by the author. This is also the first book I've read like this. As I'm not much one for religion I found this book a fun read.
Samuel is getting ready to celebrate his thirteenth birthday. He has to give the speech and he's looking forward to it. The quote I chose for Samuel is: “Rabbi Menechachen, I have enjoyed learning from you, and I thank you for the time you have spent teaching me. For this day, I have chosen my favorite passage from the ancient prophet, Isaiah. It speaks about a time when Yahweh will send someone who would be like a lamb slaughtered for the sins of Israel. It seemed appropriate to read this since my birthday is just before Passover, which is our celebration of Yahweh rescuing the Jews from the Egyptians. Each family had slaughtered a first-born male lamb without blemish and painted their doorway with its blood to protect them from the Angel of Death, so he would pass by their home.”
The Veil by Wanda Luthman is a deeply captivating biblical fiction novel that vividly brings to life the dramatic tearing of the temple veil at the moment of Jesus’ crucifixion. Told through the eyes of a devoted priest and a young apprentice training to follow in his footsteps, the story offers a unique, personal perspective on an event that changed the course of history. Luthman expertly weaves historical accuracy with spiritual depth, helping readers understand the profound significance of this event how Jesus’ death broke down the barrier between God and mankind, giving believers direct access to God. The narrative is well-paced, combining moments of tension, awe, and reflection that draw you in fully. The author’s clear, reverent writing style invites readers to contemplate the meaning of sacrifice, forgiveness, and salvation. The book closes with a heartfelt prayer and an invitation to accept Jesus, making it an inspiring and meaningful read for anyone seeking to deepen their faith or understand this pivotal biblical moment more fully.
In The Veil, Wanda Luthman offers a compelling and unique glimpse into one of the most significant yet often overlooked events in the Bible — the tearing of the temple veil when Jesus died on the cross. Told from the viewpoint of a Jewish priest and a young trainee, the story humanizes this powerful moment, vividly illustrating the spiritual and emotional impact it had on those who witnessed it. Luthman skillfully combines historical details about the tabernacle and priestly duties with deep theological insight, showing how Jesus’ death opened the way for humanity to come freely into God’s presence. The narrative encourages readers to reflect on the meaning of sacrifice, forgiveness, and eternal hope. The book closes thoughtfully with a prayer and invitation to accept Jesus Christ personally, making it a heartfelt and educational read. It’s ideal for anyone interested in biblical fiction that offers both faith-building content and a fresh perspective on scripture.
I know the biblical account of what happened when the veil ripped and I knew that this story was going to be about when that happened. I didn't realize that was all it was going to be about. In reading the description, I thought that this would be like other biblically inspired fictional books that are centered around a certain time and events in the bible, but that included fictional characters with their own story and lives and how the events in the bible affected them etc. Instead, this book was basically just like reading it from the bible, just worded a little differently. This just isn't my kind of story. If you just want to read the same story about the veil ripping, but from a fictional characters perspective, you will probably enjoy this book. It is well written. Just know that there is no story beyond what the bible already tells us.
This book is a story about how a boy becomes a man in the Jewish tradition. When a boy reaches the age of 13, it is custom that he reads the Torah and prays to his family for the first time, signifying his manhood. Along with his family, Rabbi Menechachen and the Priest are present. Samuel has been taught by the Rabbi from a young age. The Rabbi saw much promise in Samuel from the beginning, to possibly be the Priest's understudy in the tabernacle some day. After the reading, the Priest selects Samuel for the understudy position and he has to leave right away to begin. Once Samuel leaves home, he will never again go back home to live as he will continue studying and serving in the tabernacle.
The Veil by Wanda Luthman. I will admit I was hesitant to read this story because I'm very into my faith but it was such a unusual, good telling of a bible story I'm so glad I read it. Its a quick read that centers around the tearing of the veil in the bible that no one witnessed. In this story it begins with Samuel who is turning 13 and they are celebrating with a Bar Mitzvah. After he turns 13 he goes and studies under the Priest and while doing so they both witness the tearing of the veil. This read will inspire you, amaze you and cause you to not put this book down until its finished. I loved the fact that at the end of the book there is a prayer where you can accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. Very different read and I'm so glad I took the time to read it.
Samuel completed his Jewish ceremony to become a man. As he reads from the scroll of Isaiah his is prayerful that Yahweh will use him. A Priest picks him to accompany him home and to learn about serving in the Temple. As he starts to learn the pattern of his days, it quickly changes when the man named Jesus is crucified. Could the prophecy that he read at his ceremony possibly be coming true?
I enjoyed this fictional writing as to what might have taken place the day of Christ's crucifixion. This is a quick read that is appropriate for families. It could be used for good conversation starters with kids about what they think might have happened and how they would have responded if they were the ones in Samuel's place. Highly recommend this book.
Quick, great read. It was nice to watch Samuel come into his thirteenth birthday and everything that was to happen for him now that he hit “manhood”. Watching him get invited to participate in the Passover rites, I could tell he felt like he was now accomplished. His chosen scripture of Isaiah 53 is the perfect passage to have read for what was to come, and it is so cool that he was drawn to that passage to come into his manhood. Samuel and the Rabbi then discover that the rumbling and disturbance while they were at the Temple was caused by one of the most important moments of all time. I really love that in the end the author asks for anyone who believes to repeat the prayer and be saved.
The Veil by Wanda Luthman is biblical fiction story that explores the tearing of the veil inside the Jewish Tabernacle at the time Jesus died on the cross. It is a story of faith, spirituality, prayer, and inspirational themes. The story is Christian fiction that explores the meaning behind the tearing of the veil at Jesus’ death and how it represents the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for mankind, by paying for our sins with his death. The story ‘pushes’ the need for the reader to repent and invite Jesus into their lives. This book won’t suit everyone- but will definitely hit the right note for those looking for inspiration, or some faith-based reading.
This is an interesting story and not one I would usually read. However, the description intrigued. Not being a particularly religious person, the tearing of the veil isn’t something I was familiar with so enjoyed the telling of this story. Although put forward as a fictional book this is one that definitely steers more towards the religious side. It was a great way to become acquainted with the story, although I would have liked a little more detail on the periphery of fiction. However, the book is well written and an interesting story. I am definitely pleased I gave it a go. For anyone wanting something with a little more faith then I would highly recommend this book.
The Veil is a Christian biblical fiction retelling that is full of spirit and faith. This short story is around the time when Jesus was crucified on the cross. It is about a young 13-year-old teenage boy who becomes a man. He is about to start training with a priest inside the Jewish Tabernacle and together the witness a sacred moment in time what is believed to be the tearing of the Veil in the holy temple.
Wanda’s passion shines through as she invites the reader to reflect upon their own lives, prayers, and to repent. Which is not everyone's cup of tea. Although I have my own beliefs many who share this faith, I am sure will enjoy.
This novel was not what I expected. Firstly, it took me an hour, maybe less, to read. It would probably take you longer to read the actual biblical version of the veil ripping than this novel will take you to read. Besides it being short, it was well written. With it being so short, I do not want to say too much because it is easy enough for you to pick up and read. It is also difficult to say anything without giving up the whole story.
The story is an interesting take on the story compared to the story in the Bible. If you believe you would enjoy something like that, this is the book for you. It really is short enough for anyone to read and enjoy.
This book Is an uplifting, short story! The story is about Samuel as he turns 13 years old in the first century AD. He turns 13 and is invited to serve in the Tabernacle as an understudy to the priest. This is a high honor for Samuel. His first day serving happens to be the day that Jesus was crucified on the cross. I enjoyed the description of the wonder and amazement by Samuel and by the priest as they experienced the ripping of the Temple curtain when Jesus died. I also enjoyed the peace and love that Samuel felt. This is a fast, easy, but sweet story and worth the time!
The story starts out with a bar mitzvah celebration for Samuel who is turning 13. He then goes to study under a priest at the temple where he witnesses the tearing of the veil. I wasn't sure what to expect from the story other than I thought it would be a longer read. I was intrigued by the part in the story when the veil is torn and Samuel experiences something supernatural! I would have liked the author to expand more on this part since it was a life changing event for Samuel. This is an enjoyable quick read for a younger audience who enjoys inspirational stories!
This is a short Christian- fiction story based around the story of the tearing of the veil when Jesus died on the Cross. It is also a story of a young boy who becomes a man and then gets to witness God's power and love first hand.
I personally haven't read many bible stories so I wasn't aware of the veil or meaning. I did however enjoy this story. It was easy to read and understand and there is a great sense of warmth and spiritual love that you feel by reading it.
It's not something I would normally pick up but I did enjoy it.
This was a very quick read and not one I would usually pick up, but I am glad that I did. I hadn’t heard of this author before, but I do enjoy the flow of this fictional story. I feel this was a great short read about the tearing of the veil and made easy to understand for anyone on any level of their religious journey. Samuel is a 13-year-old boy becoming a man and starting his training with a Jewish priest. They both witness an incredibly sacred moment of the veil ripping. It won’t take you long to get immersed and absorb this story, so pick it up and enjoy!
An unforgettable encounter with God’s mercy and love. Reading The Veil felt like stepping into sacred ground. I was moved by the way Luthman described the physical and spiritual realities of the temple. The narrative paints a powerful picture of how the tearing of the veil symbolized the end of religious separation and the beginning of a direct relationship with God. The story helped me understand why that moment was so monumental and why it still matters today. It’s hard to put into words how much this little book stirred my soul.
This book brought me to tears and helped me feel the Gospel in a new way. The Veil is more than a biblical fiction story it’s a deeply spiritual journey. As I read, I could feel the fear, confusion, and wonder that the characters experienced when the veil was torn. The message of Jesus’ death removing the separation between us and God hit home in a profound way. The ending, with its prayer and invitation to accept Christ, was written with such sincerity that I found myself praying along. This book is a gift to anyone seeking to connect more deeply with their faith.
The Veil made the Bible come alive for me in a way I’ve never experienced. I've read the Gospels many times, and I knew about the tearing of the veil when Jesus died, but I never stopped to wonder what it must have been like to witness that. Luthman’s fictional retelling offers a powerful, imaginative answer. The emotional intensity, the sense of divine presence, and the realization that the barrier between man and God was forever removed it was overwhelming in the best way. This book rekindled my awe for Jesus' sacrifice and left me worshiping with fresh eyes.
The Veil by Wanda Luthman is a beautifully written and moving piece of biblical fiction that brings to life one of the most powerful moments in Christian history the tearing of the veil at Jesus' death. Through the eyes of a priest and a young apprentice, readers are invited to witness this awe-inspiring event with fresh perspective. The story is both heart-pounding and deeply spiritual, offering a profound reminder of the freedom and hope found in Christ’s sacrifice. An inspiring read for believers of all ages!
I was completely captivated by The Veil. It’s rare to find a biblical fiction story that captures both the historical setting and the emotional impact so well. The idea of witnessing the tearing of the veil through the eyes of a young apprentice priest is both moving and thought-provoking. This book not only taught me more about that powerful event but also reignited my faith. The prayer at the end is a beautiful touch and made the message even more personal. Highly recommend for readers of all ages!
Wanda Luthman has created something truly special with The Veil. The story is rich with biblical meaning and emotion. As someone familiar with the scriptures, it was refreshing to see this moment come to life in a way that made me reflect deeply on Jesus’ sacrifice. It’s written simply enough for younger readers but carries a message powerful enough for adults too. The sense of reverence, fear, and awe in that sacred moment brought tears to my eyes. This book touched my heart and strengthened my faith. I’ll be recommending it to my Bible study group!
I found this biblical fiction to be short and, yet, quite interesting. A short story based on the tearing of the veil inside the Jewish Tabernacle is a different take. Something extraordinary is witnessed in the temple. Believers will find this book to be a neat little addition to their fiction library. What I really like is the author gives readers information to become believers in and of Christ. This book gave me goosebumps. I enjoyed it.
It is a big day for Samuel and his family. Today is his thirteenth birthday, and the day he becomes a man. He has been studying and preparing for this day and he is confident all will go well. This is a coming of age story, and the incredible retelling of the veil that was torn at the moment Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross. This is a very short and sweet retelling that I think would be great in a children’s sermon.
Having grown up reading the Bible and being familiar with all the stories, I very much appreciated reading this book. It is a touching fiction story about the veil being ripped upon the death of Jesus. It is a fast read and could have been longer. It is well-written and immersive. I would love it if this author would do an entire series like this and tell a story of each event in the Bible. I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a good story from a different perspective.
I was pleasantly surprised reading this book. The author does a very nice job of setting you into biblical times. I love that there is a bit of an understanding brought to me as a Christian of how and WHY the people of that time would be hesitant to believe in Jesus! I love that the author brings you into the outside world while the ending of Jesus’ life on earth is happening. I really enjoyed this quick read and was definitely left wanting more of this great read!
