After reading Royally Bad, I didn’t wait too long to dive into Royally Ruined to discover what secrets Costello was harbouring. Scarred, tattooed and heir to the Badd dynasty, this is one man who is seriously misunderstood.

description

Darker and grittier than the first book but just as sexy, we’re brought a story that answers some of the questions previously raised and keeps you on your toes with a couple of nice unexpected twists thrown in along the way as Costello and Scotch end up on the run together. And whilst there is a bit of a damsel-in-distress scenario going on, Scotch is no wallflower with it soon becoming evident that it’s not just Costello doing the protecting here.

description I’ll lie cold in the ground before I let anyone hurt you, Scotch.”

I’m the first to admit that whilst I love me an anti-hero, I’m a difficult woman to please when it comes to mafia families. But the Badd family have something that simply makes them work for me. Now the wait is on to see if Hawthorne can match the precedent his big brother has set.

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series is def not your typical royalty romance. This family is more mobster than royalty.
This one def kept you on the edge of your seat. There was danger lurking everywhere during this one. You never knew what was gonna happen next.
Can’t wait for Book 3 to be released so I can get some more of the Badd Family.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Some details were needed from part 1. It was still a good book.

This review is based on the ARC I received from the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Funny enough, this one actually started off more OTT smh wha?? than the first one! The reason for Scotch having to go into hiding with Costello and the whole Damien thing was definitely a TSTL moment for Damien, who’s supposed to be this bada$$ gangster. I couldn’t wrap my mind around this “villain” being all that villainous. Which made me wonder why Costello (being a Badd) with all this power, was all that worried about him. But if you can dispense your belief for a few minutes and get past those first couple of chapters, the story really shines when Scotch and Costello find themselves alone together.

I’ll confess I had to put this one down for a few days and try it again because the first 10% really dragged and I was a bit bored. But luckily I came back to it and the second time was the clincher for me. From book one we got a few mysterious snippets of Costello and the story behind his cold exterior and that wicked scar. I think the author really delivered on it. When the truth of that night comes out I absolutely hated: Maverick (H’s father), Francesca (this selfish rotten human being is the worst!), Lula (I can’t believe she was such a little coward and never once really tried to have Costello’s back. The fact that she lets him take the fall for her effed up mistake is one thing – he wanted to protect her – but why did she have to leave him, alone and facing the rest of this crap family’s condemnation and scorn?!) and even Past Kain made an appearance that made me instantly dislike him.

Needless to say, this installment had way more of an emotional pull then Kain and Sammy’s story. I liked Scotch, she was a bit too trusting at times and I really didn’t understand her be-all-to-end-all friendship with Gina was all about but otherwise she had a backbone and was able to drop the damsel in distress guise when it really mattered.

Before reading any of the Badd books, I received an ARC for the 3rd book (about Thorne) Royally Matched and thought it sounded right up my alley. Unfortunately getting a little bit of Thorne in books 1 & 2, I’m not sure where that all will end. By far, Costello is my favorite H in this series, the other two . . . . I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if Thorne will be more a “Kain” Hero or a “Costello” type Hero. I’m hoping for the latter.

Favorite Line:
Scotch made me realize I was more than a man with scars. More than a false king.
More than a monster.
With her at my side I’ve become what I thought I could never be: A hero. Her hero.
And that’s better than any dream. ~ Costello

Memorable Moments:
Because I’ve been wanting somebody, anybody to finally stick up for and stand by Costello against his whole family’s craptastic behavior towards him . . . I loved the scene where Scotch makes a deal with Maverick . When she realizes that he knew the whole time that Costello was taking the fall for his sister and still treated him like an outcast, I was beyond pissed and was glad that Scotch called him out on it. I loved that part!

Would I recommend?
I enjoyed this one so much more than book one. The middle and end are worth the slow beginning to Costello and Scotch’s love story. Wish there’d been an epilogue of these two :)

For me Costello was my favorite Badd brother ... something about him just pulled me, he just made me curious how he was how he got to be where he was, all that jazz .. Yep, his book ended with me in tears, not that something terrible happened but the point being that Costello was just a normal guy deep down who wanted to be loved, respected, appreciated, and he found that HEA. He so deserved it! The last few sentences of this book are just pure (not sure what word to use?) but they just say it all, they are Costello all wrapped up into everything. he is just more than a tough guys, killer, mean and rough and tough ...he might be a scar -ed man ...but there is just so so much under his skin. (that is every one in this world, we are just more than what is there for you to see on the outside.) Just one favorite quote (Costello is speaking:) "Regrets will leave you rotten inside, Believe Me." This beauty came out October 3rd, I just found Scotch (aka Heather) too be just perfect. Did she ever put back in her nose ring? curious??! Maverick Badd (the father of the Badd crew) at times I think he is misunderstood ...but others he is just a real jerk ...but I guess you kind of have to be that way to have to be the a head of a big family. I think there is more to the sister Lula (what is her real name ... you have Lulabelle & Francesca.) I think I spelled those right, but Lula has a bigger part in this book being that Costello and her have a huge-r part in his backstory. I wanna know more about Lula. She sounds like an interesting. I tend to love or enjoy the not so popular characters. I love Costello best of all the brothers ... I look forward to more from these characters!! Such a great read. Thank you, Nora!! Loved it. You did my favorite character well! <3 ( ;

sometimes when i am in a pinch ...don't mean for that to sound whatever it might sound ...but when you are wondering what to read and you really don't wanna read what you have to ....like you know how they made you in school read this poetry or this or that book ...i wanna pick ... so when that has been happening lately i have been making my way through the "Bad Boy Royals" series again ...and i have not read Nora's book lately. as you know i am off social media ...so i tend to at times really miss hearing from my favorite authors. like so many of the newsletters at one time was the place to be ...but authors are really lacking on the newsletter front ..like the tidbits are so not fun any more ... like a lot of the authors are missing out ... like the newsletters at one time were the place. u know!! like i am not on FB or instagram. twitter (so many have changed names, that is how long it has been for me to be on that said platform) like i got an email the other day about a PIN that i had had removed. i am curious ...i think what i does mean is that some1 else's pin was in conflict with PINTEREST's things that are okay??! i mean all my pics are my own pictures so i don't think the could be wrong ...wondering why they never give you all the details ...like it doesn't say specifically what was in violation. i want it spelled out in writing so i can follow along. waiting to hear back. like i will always say i tried once again for the RIGHTS for me to return to reviewing items on Amazon, but the LOSERS still act like they don't know what the hell i am speaking of. JERKS!! too the point, off on another topic,,, ............... ...but i totally need we all need more Nora in our lives & i realize when i don't i miss her terribly. like i realized Deborah Harkness (different genre i know) has a new book coming out in July 2024!!!!!!! so excited!!!

so series: book 2 is my favorite!! love Costello first & always. then book #3 & book #1 are fighting it out!! Kain & Thorne are at war, not really. just being silly there!!

Royally Ruined was the second installment in the Bad Boy Royals series featuring Costello and Scotch. I enjoyed this story, especially Costello and Scotch's chemistry and his bad boy broody persona. I honestly could not get enough!

When waitress Scotch discovers her bestfriend is in danger at the hands of a well-known gang member, she does what any bestfriend would do - risk her own safety and life to protect her friend. But when this unknowingly puts a target on her back, Costello Badd, the oldest son in the Badd mafia family does the unexpected and protects her. But what happens when lines are crossed and real feelings develop?

As soon as I started reading this novel I was intrigued by Costello and his broody ways. I wanted his story and to see the deep facets he was hiding. I enjoyed his chemistry with Scotch and loved that she brought him into the light and made him want to feel again.

All in all this was fantastic! I would like to thank Netgalley and Montlake Romance for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 Stars! ~Ratula

I was totally engulfed in this author's world as I read this second installment of the Bad Boy Royals - Royally Ruined. Completely addicting from the start, I rapidly left reality for the afternoon to joyfully lust over Costello.

I loved the family dynamic of the Badd's. You never knew what to expect and the author did a fantastic job with the journey of Royally Ruined. This story was not the average HEA or family drama! Royally Ruined would require it's own category - packed with heat, passion, loss, love, lust, terror, heartbreak, friendship and many unknown's.

I couldn't help, but swoon over Costello. Lovable, fierce, protective and the ultimate alpha male. Oh yeah, and HOT!!! He is perceived as one way and proves to be another. He did not disappoint me, that's for sure! He may be rough around the edges, but considering what he was born into - that makes him even more appealing and desirable.

Scotch is one of those character's that you feel a gravitating pull to. She is likable and relatable. I couldn't help, but want the happily ever after for her. She is the definition of a best friend - loyal to a fault.

These covers are to DIE for! I was sold with just the tattooed muscles, but even the font, coloring and overall appeal is alluring!

I would recommend Royally Ruined to fellow readers. If you desire something different - go ahead and start on the first installment, Royally Bad. You can start Bad Boy Royals for free with Kindle Unlimited. *at time of posting*

I would recommend this to others. I would like to add that you don't want to skip book one - definitely worth the read!

I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

I don't know what's better than a mafia romance - well, nothing.

I honestly couldn't put this book down - which trust me.. it gets really annoying carrying around a kindle or my laptop everywhere with me. Yes, this was a Kindle book and I have no regrets about it whatsoever.

I loved everything about this book and the Badd family. I can't even pick a favorite brother right now because these books just keep getting so freaking good.

While reading this book I was definitely rooting for Costello and Scotch from the beginning. Trust me, you will too. They just seemed absolutely perfect for each other. I can't wait to read the next book in this series because they are so addicting!

Royally Ruined has some a different tone to the story and characters from the previous book, that it did a great job of keeping it separate while still remaining part of the series. Nora Flite did a magnificent job of writing Costello and Scotch’s story as a complete standalone from Royally Bad, that even if I hadn’t already read it I wouldn’t have needed to. Everything I needed to know about them was included in this book and I had no need to stop and go back to the first book for any references in the story line for past events. I’ve had that happen too many times to count, and I’m so thankful I was able to enjoy this just as independently as I had with the first book.

The darker tone to Costello’s character gave such a different feel to the story. Having gotten to know him a bit in the previous book, he was a bit of a mystery to me. So quiet and closed off, I often wondered what his story was and I’m so thankful that I got it. Poor guy has been groomed for so long to head the family that when the time came he never got to enjoy life luxuries like his siblings. He’s always had the weight of the world on his shoulders, so to speak, or at least the weight of the underworld. Not only being true royalty, but mafia royalty in their area - there is just so much to deal with. His sense fo duty and loyalty go so deep with him and he’s willing to do whatever is necessary and at all costs to ensure the safety of his family and those he cares for. It was incredibly admirable and was exactly why Scotch was so drawn to him.

Scotch was like the opposite side of the same coin when it came to Costello. She too will do what it takes to protect those she cares for and has such a strong sense of duty; that ultimately puts her in danger. She’s tough and sassy and knows what she wants - even when it comes to making a move on the elusive Costello.

This was a wonderful follow up in this series and I can’t wait to get more from this author and the Badd family characters.

I normally don't read mob/gang type books but I picked this one on a whim and I'm glad I did. It wasn't your typically mob story focused on various crimes and family members. Well...I suppose it was focused on that, but with equal focus on romance and chemistry.

Talk about being in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Scotch gets screwed when she tries to help her best friend out of a life threatening situation. She ends up on the run with a man she barely knows who is the only person she trusts to protect her.

My only complaint: why did no one think to track their cell phones? With today's technology you would think they would have ditched the phones and bought burner ones.

Otherwise loved it!

Royally Ruined is the 2nd book in the Bad Boy Royals series. Costello is the dangerous older brother who is broody, moody , strong., and lethal. Costello is the oldest who had been taught from day one that he was the next in line for the "throne" so he made sure to learn all he needed to for his duties but when he was 19, some bad things happened to his sister which wasn’t his fault. He was blamed anyway and that caused major discord in the family
Scotch/ Heather was a waitress at the adult club that Costello's family owned and worked. She was only working there so she could keep her eyes on her BFF Gina who was being abused by a member of "Deep Shots" and when Scotch came to Gina’s aid when she was getting hurt again, she ended up in a gun struggle and the gun went off. Scotch is now on the run to save her life and that is how Costello meets Scotch. He steps in to help and helps her escape. Before long, she is pretending to be his GF. These two have such awesome chemistry and their banter is flirty and witty with a lot of sexual tension between them. But at times, there is something sad about both characters for Costello thinks he's not worthy of having anything worthwhile, like a girlfriend or wife in his life-have anything good to happen to him and Scotch thinks she is going to end up dead by The Deep Shots so this time with Costello is her last hurrah out of life. Its so sad yet these two together burn up the pages.
This book has everything that you could ever want in a steamy romance read- action, suspense, angst, betrayal and a love so hot it will burn you completely in the right way. The humor is so good , I was laughing my socks off but at the same time, it is hauntingly sad and I was crying for the main characters and the pain they were each going thru. This is one story you don’t want to miss. I cannot wait for book 3 in this series.

My Rating: 4.7 stars *****

Royally Ruined was a sexy, edgy, suspenseful story that I could not put down. Nora Flite is a master storyteller, one who blends action, angst, humor, and sizzling hot chemistry to create a story that is absolutely riveting.

"My world had become more solid. More real. I'd found a purpose in keeping her safe, and then she'd filled the hollow parts inside me with her perfect existence."

I loved the first book in this series and was so excited to get Costello's story. The brooding, dangerous, oldest Badd brother was a mystery I wanted to uncover, and I completely fell in love with him in this book. He was a pillar of strength; protective and lethal. Scotch was his equal in every way, a fierce and kind-hearted warrior who was loyal and full of spunk. Their interactions from the very beginning were so engaging, and I enjoyed the way their relationship progressed. The author did such a great job with the build up between them, and when they came together physically, it was like an inferno of epic proportions.

"Costello was the black cloud, the lightening bolt. In the darkness he was a thousand mouths and a million hands and I wanted to feel every finger. Every kiss. I wanted all of him".

Flite has such a great talent for blending together different elements seamlessly, creating a great experience for the reader. There were moments in the story that had me laughing out loud, and moments where I was on the edge of my seat. Costello and Scotch's story was as emotional as it was hot, as family secrets came to light and relationships took a turning point. My heart broke for Costello and the burdens he carried, and I wanted so badly for him to find peace with Scotch. I was so happy to see Kain and Sammy again, along with the rest of the Badd bunch. The author wove an exciting storyline that I am sure will bring even more intrigue in the next book. I am looking forward to reading more from this fantastic series!

I freaking loved this book.

You get a glimpse of Costello in Royally Bad and he was quite the brooding mysterious bad boy. Costello is the oldest and the first born son and he had been taught since day one that he was the next in line for the "throne" and that he needed to learn everything he could. Well, some bad stuff went down when he was 19 and his sister Lula begged him to tell their father or go the police but that is NOT how Costello was raised, so he took the blame for Lula getting hurt which caused a major riff in the family. Scotch (Heather) was a waitress at the adult club that Costello's family owned and operated. She was only doing it to keep an eye on her BFF Gina. The "Deep Shots" were in the club for a meeting and one of them was roughing Gina up and Scotch came to her aid and she ended up in a pistol struggle and the gun went off. Now Scotch needs to run to save her own life and Costello steps in to help. And just like a volcano, these two erupt together...woot, woot! And Thorne, I hope he gets a book. By the way this one ended and I think I know where this might go, the next should be name Royally Stupid....kidding! I hope Hawthorne gets his HEA too.

This is a must read but you should really read Royally Bad first. I mean, you don't have to since it's a standalone but you get the deets on the other characters.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest review.

Okay, let's suspend belief that royalty has any reason to start a mafia. Also, let's get past the phrase Bad Boy because the book was better than that over-used phrase. Also, YEAH! Being a royal was part of this one's plot!

This book, while it was a rollercoaster and adventure, had an undertone of sweet. Costello was dangerous but very protective. I did like him a lot, far more than I expected to after the first book. He's got a strong protective instinct and a strong sense of right and wrong, which I didn't expect.

Scotch was interesting, though I didn't feel her as well as I did Costello. She also has a protective instinct, and doesn't take crap. However, I felt like sometimes, she would give into certain things for the sake of the plot. However, she was still fun, and her joys in life were rather simple. Those things came through the strongest.

The plot itself was fun. There were some twists that were fun, though nothing too surprising. One was, though. The one twist made me grin. A lot. Most of it was them being on the run and getting to know each other. A lot of cutes happened that made me happy.

In the end, belief seriously suspended, this was cute and full of fun adventure.

Royally Ruined is a book that could easily be made into an action packed movie and be a summer blockbuster.
This 5 star book has action, suspense, betrayal and a love that breaks through social boundaries.
It basically has it all.
One minute I was laughing out loud and the next my heart was breaking for their story.
This book is a fantastic read and one of my favourites from Nora Flite.
She definitely knows how to keep her readers engaged with this storyline.
It is very addictive and once you start reading it you can't put it down.
I was intrigued by Costello in Royally Bad book #1 in the series and I'm so glad we got to read his story as it's a heart breaking but excellent storyline.
Costello and Scotch "Heather" have an interesting connection and they defy all odds in this book.
Scotch is definitely a good match for Costello as she's a strong independent lady who doesn't give up on the people she cares about a bit like him as he'd to anything for the people he loves.
I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend you go and one click it as soon as you can so you can see the real Costello Badd and read this fantastic story.

LOVED this book!!!! Scotch has been a cocktail waitress at the strip club owned by Costello's family for eight years. She followed her best friend there - Gina, who is a dancer. While Scotch knows of the Badd family and who they are, she doesn't really know them. Then she is thrown into a horrible situation while trying to save Gina's life.

Costello doesn't think, he just acts to protects Scotch and helps her escape. Before long, she's pretending to be his girlfriend. Soon the lines become very blurred between pretend and reality, but with Costello thinking he's not worthy and Scotch thinking she's a dead woman walking, neither can see a future for themselves.

Costello isn't the typical hero - he's brooding, bad, and not even his family likes him. Scotch is more like the damsel in distress, except this damsel packs some serious skills of her own. Combined this makes a wonderful story that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible.

Fans of the genre will love this book. While it is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, although they're so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. What a great second book in the series. I was so glad to see that Costello got his own story. We first meet him briefly in the first book Royally Bad about the youngest brother, Kain and Sammy the woman he falls for. In this new book you get to see what makes Costello tick. How he loves his family and will do anything to protect them including taking the blame when someone else is does something that could bring harm to the family. Scotch is a woman who works as a server at a club his family owns. She is also protective of the ones she loves. She began working there to make sure her friend who had gotten a job there would be safe. She is a woman who is not afraid of Costello who can be very intense. Something happens one night and the two find themselves running to save Scotch's life. This story was full of suspense, mystery, angst at times as well as a few funny parts. It was also one hot and steamy read. There is definitely a lot of chemistry between Costello and Scotch. I loved this story line and the great HEA! I can't wait to read more in this series.

************some spoilers ahead**************

I loved Costello and Scotch. This was such a fantastic read. This story pulled me in from the first page and kept me enthralled until the end. Two characters on opposite sides, both wanting to stay to themselves but an unfortunate event leads to both being brought together, and attempting to fight their attraction to one another.

When the story starts out Scotch, much to her dismay, comes up close and personal with Costello. Already perturbed by Costello when Scotch tries to tell him she has an uneasy feeling about her friend, Gina, with a guy in one of the rooms, Costello brushes it off. But when Scotch goes to check on Gina and finds her being squeezed to a shade of purple she takes matters into her own hands and fights with the guy. A gun goes off and several think Scotch shoots the guy but she didn't. Costello leaves the club with Scotch to attempt to hide her to save her life. A ruse follows that they both agree to, Scotch will pose as Costello's girlfriend. Somewhere along the way lines blur and they forget everything is for show.

Figuring out who the other is...will it bring them closer or will it be the factor that divides them? Such a great book and I highly recommend it. I am hoping Hawthorne's story is next.

I voluntarily read and reviewed and Advanced Reader's Copy of this book. Royally Bad is quite eventful in that there's danger in the air from the start. Castello is totally captivated and caught off-guard by Scotch (Heather), the other events of the night spin of a chain reaction of a past event for which Castello has never forgiven himself for his sister's injuries. The threats against the Badd family goes very deep, into their royal heritage and claims that can be met by the descendants... Wow, Nora you've peeked my interest in the Bad Boy Royals even more into knowing who's responsible for the plot and will they be eliminated?

Being Mafia royalty is the only life Costello Badd has ever known. Loyalty to the family is everything. Or it was until Scotch rams into his life. Trying to help her best friend Scotch finds herself in more trouble than she can handle and Costello seems to be the only one who can help her. Can she trust him? After all it would mean him going against the family he holds so dear. Costello knows what he's risking but helping Scotch is something he has to do no mater the cost.

I loved this book. These characters grabbed me from the very beginning and I couldn't put this one down. Definitely I book I am recommending.

Costello meets scotch after patting her down & checking for listening wires.
Scotch why did my body hum from been patted down by the shadow Costello.
After walking in on a member of another gang strangling her best friend Gina things turn worse & she's forced to flee but help comes in an unlikely form.
These are all standalone & have true endings. As with any series other characters from previous books do get mentioned.
Another great book I loved Kain & Sammi's book in Royally Bad book 1 in the series. I'm eager for more from the family!

I loved this story! Costello is dark, brooding, sexy as hell, and dangerous. Scotch is hilarious, independant, sassy, and strong. These two together are insanely hot, but with the danger they are both in they don't think they'll get their happy ending. I will say it took a few chapters to really get to the good parts, but I hung in there because I know it was only going to get better. And I was right! This story had my gripping my iPad wanting to know what happened next and how this would all play out. The secrets, the passion, the romance, it was all executed so well. I loved this read!! I definitely recommend it! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

All reader making sure you suspend belief while you read this story. The romance is cheesy and very cliche with the bad boy Mafia ties to being part of a royal family and a girl who is a bar tender who is feisty and protective. Oh and if readers didn't see the twist coming you had to be blind because it was obvious.
Costello would be the bad guy but really isn't just a big old softy which didn't match all the crimes he was to have supposed to have committed. Scotch was feisty but she was also a bit of a cliche too. I can't go into more details as it will spoil a few twist.
Thank you t netgalley for a copy for my honest opinion

This is my second book I have read by this author, and I truly enjoyed this book. Who doesn't love a good Mafia story! The story revolves around the oldest son of the Badd family, Costello and the girl he meets at his club, Scotch. From the moment they met there was scorching chemistry. When Scotch gets in trouble with a rival family, Costello is there to keep her safe. And while on the run, their relationship blooms. If you want to find out what happens, read this book. You won't be disappointed!!

Royally Ruined was a edgy, sexy, passionate story that I could not put down. Nora Flite is a amazing storyteller, one who blends action, humor, and hot chemistry between the main characters to create a story that is absolutely magnifysent.his is my fourt book I have read by this author, and I truly enjoyed this book. Extremely grateful to get a copy of this book from NetGalley.
It was a bit different from the first book in the series and a lot less dark. The characters are still amazing and you get very invested in the story. It tied well with the first book in the series. I WANT MORE please. Nora flite one of my new favorites. LOVED this book. Costello is so swoon worthy and mysterious.

Really good! Costello is hot! I was glued to my kindle with this! What is it about a scarred and handsome dominant male that really gets you! This man definitely makes you want to crack his armor and see what is beneath! Sometimes the hero was a bit too cold and the heroine was a bit annoying but other than that, it was great. I read the first book in this series and I liked this one but not as much as the first. I did really enjoy it though. I certainly recommend it and I can't wait for more!

We met Scotch briefly in the last book. She is mouthy and has a big personality. I love her. She really keeps this book going.

Costello, we met also in the last book, he is the eldest of the Badd sons and is the most understood. He does everything he can to protect his family even lie to his father. But when he meets Scotch and ends up protecting her from herself.

There is a great story in this book with wonderful chemistry in the characters. Scotch doesn't take crap from anyone and trust me there is a lot thrown at her. But she is a strong woman. And Castello just might find his redemption while protecting his woman.

This is one of the worst things I've ever read and could have really used an editor. The conversations weren't believable and used phrases that no one would ever say in normal conversation. The love story takes place over such a short period of time. The internal dialogue was juvenile and hardly made any sense. The main characters were very strange and none of the other characters were interesting. I definitely will not be continuing this series.
