I am so enjoying this series. Katie and Leblanc are searching for a killer who leaves his victims under maple trees in ritualistic positions. There has to be a reason the killer is choosing where he is leaving his victims. Can Katie and Leblanc find the common thread and stop this killer before he strikes again. On another note, Katie’s twin has been air lifted to a hospital in Rochester, NY where she has been evaluated. She is being kept under sedation because of her aggressive combativeness. Can Katie and her parents reach the Josie they remember from 16 years ago? This will be a very long road which will require intensive therapy for Josie.
This story is twofold as it covers the case of Katie's sister, who has been found, but reacts negatively when she sees the family or any other person. There will be a long way to recover if it happens and it will surely be a burden for the BAU agent. Katie and Leblanc are working on a strange case: women are being murdered and left in the same position by different types of maple trees. They will follow leads only to reach dead ends and are running against the clock in order to avoid another killing. The story is well-written and developed and the main characters are becoming even more interesting are the series progresses. I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
Katie and Leblanc are stressed again. Katie’s sister was recovered but she’s not doing well. Leblanc was tasked to investigate more murders but a new partner was on the other side of the country. Katie decides to join Leblanc and she’s torn about leaving her sister. Poor Leblanc still loves Katie and wants to support her but Katie is pushing him away. Lots of action and stress for our intrepid task force members.
Okay, I'm nitpicking but I believe that when writing a book research is essential. Tapping sugar maples is done from February to April at the very latest May. I just didn't like the book and would not recommend it.
