FaultLines: Challenges That Transform Your Soul

Rate this book
SoulShift coauthor Steve DeNeff reveals to both the young and veteran in faith how soul-growing transformations happen only as God breaks through spiritual hardness. These moments are life's "fault lines", and they are periods of great upheaval--disruptive, always unfair, always troublesome, but not always bad. When life beneath our feet is moving and shaking, it must end in one of only two ways--to make us better or make us worse. God alone can shift souls for the better.

A friend of mine has read the book a half dozen times, and is always challenged with each re-reading. I have read it once, and that is not enough to process the principles and make them a reality in my life. The chapters Growing Up, A Call, A Crisis, A Conflict, A Compromise, A Failure, A Success, and A Death contain Scripture passages together with personal stories and caused me to focus differently on well known Bible accounts. The story of Hagar told in A Conflict brings out God's compassion for this woman put into a conflict not of her making. The author gave me more food for thought in A Compromise and what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. DeNeff gave me fresh eyes to see God at work in whatever I encounter in life, where I have fallen down, and how God gives me His way, truth, and life to go forth in life.

A very good book trying to define the "faultlines" of your life. How to get through them. Faith based guidance.

This was not my absolute favorite inspirational book but it was definitely worth the read! The overall message was solid and gave me a lot to think about. Although sometimes it felt like the author was just stringing together a bunch of contrasting ideas like: high & low, thick & thin, beautiful & ugly...not those particular phrases but he used things like it as describers for religious things. It was a bit frustrating because it just runs you around in circles and doesn't get you any closer to the underlying truth. But those portions were small in the scheme of the entire book. The things covered by chapter were: Growing Up, A Call, A Crisis, A Conflict, A Compromise, A Failure, A Success, and A Death (So 8 chapters in all). The author deals with these issues from a human perspective with stories from his pastoral relationships with people and also connects the text with stories from the Bible. The main theme was interesting but not something that can be summed up in a few sentences. So, if you're looking for something with a different twist on inspirational/self-help genre, this may be the book for you.

"Fault Lines Review"

FAULT LINES was a great listen. I really enjoyed the author, pastor Steve DeNeff's viewpoints and the parallelism of our lives to fault lines and how a shift in our perspective can make a world of difference. Shift DOES happen. I haven't listened to Soul Shift yet but would very much like to. I also liked the personal stories of others.

Claton Butcher is an exceptional narrator and has perfect pitch and pauses. His inflections are great. He keeps the book moving at a comfortable pace and speaks very clearly.. I would definitely recommend giving this one a listen.

Audiobook received in exchange for an honest review.

Wonderful read

I loved this book!! It makes you look at your past problems and your current ones in a new light. You begin to think more of what Jesus wants you to experience and you begin to think less about your self. You definitely learn there is victory in every fault line you face.

This is a great workbook for how to deal with situations of spiritual growth. I do wish some more Scripture was quoted.
