The Collectors #3

Touch of Promise: The Collectors, Book 3

Rate this book
The Collectors may have written the rules, but I'm changing the game.

After almost losing myself to hatred, it's time to shift my priorities. Fighting the Collectors has resulted in nothing but death and destruction, and the cycle has to stop.

With Geppetto and his minions breathing down my neck, my options are limited - join them or run. So I'll do what I have to, but I'll do it on my terms.

If only I wasn't facing more questions than answers. I don't know what's going on with my psychic abilities or magic. The events surrounding my mother's death are still in question, and I have no idea how to maneuver my relationships with Stowe, Noah, Jameson, and Mason.

My name is Adele Rose, and I promise things will be different this time.

Contains mature themes.

NEW RELEASE!
You can purchase it on Amazon or read it for FREE on Kindle Unlimited: http://bit.ly/touchofpromise

And here's a teaser...
“Because you’re my employee, remember? I told you the job would come with perks.”
I couldn’t help smiling at that. “Oh, yeah. I keep forgetting. You’re not a very demanding boss.”
He took his gaze off the road long enough to shoot me a devilish grin. “Is demanding what you want? If so, I’m more than happy to oblige.”
Heat simmered in my belly. Mason was so damn enticing in that carefree yet intense way of his. The two parts of him should have seemed incongruous, but they felt natural. He wasn’t hiding the darkness behind a façade of playfulness. He was genuinely both—light and dark and maybe everything in between.
I was too intrigued, and he knew it.

I found this pretty slow going compared to the previous books. Everything was kind of dull and until the end not much at all happened. I hate that she has to work with Grace/the Collectors especially given they are to blame for the loss of her home and her father. I can't imagine how hard that would be and yet she feels backed into a corner. Mason also kind of let me down this time around, I just didn't find him as intriguing and fun as I did in the last book. His ability to appear as anything he wants is cool but I still feel he's more of a mystery than anything and given how much drama Adelle has in her life, personally, I'd want the down-low on him ASAP. Hell why does he work with the Collector's at all and how does he have so much power and money at his age? Adelle tries to push away feelings for Jameson because she sees him with his ex and assumes their comfort-ability and history will lead to them getting back together. They did have a few cozy moments so I don't really blame her for making assumptions. Plus with gruff and disinterested Jameson she rarely knew where she stood with him.
As for the end, so much happened so quickly and then Adelle and Mason had their own memories stripped of their captivity leaving them 100% clueless. You can't help but worry for them and in all honesty all that transpired leaves me curious how it will end and wrap up in only one book. Adelle now realizes she can borrow the powers of others which is awesome but at the same time they now have a face to their #1 enemy (a face they can't remember) who wants to use Adelle's talents for his own gain-even though he himself seems to share the same power as her. It was kind of a mess at the end there with so much happening and now that Stowe is the only one with memories of their capture, based simply on mind messages she sent him, I'm curious to see how they will come out on top.

Well I was left a little bored in this one. I really enjoyed the second book. I did like meeting the other witches and how they practically live in a commune. I like the interactions between her great Aunt and the boys. I'm not sure if this is a filler building up to future story lines but it felt like mot of the story was a little pointless to the story we already have.

I’m abandoning this series. There is no exact reason for this besides that I got bored. I started skimming and skipping pages. I’m less and less interested in what’s happening in the story. It feels like nothing has changed since book one, besides the FMC’s mutating powers. The relationships have hardly progressed. The plot has hardly progressed. Nothing new is happening and it’s getting boring.

This is definitely upper YA/ barely NA. There is one steamy scene in this book and it might as well have been ‘fade to black’.

The magic system is still not well defined or explained. For all the main characters use their psychic or magic powers this could have almost been a regular ol’ contemporary romance. The precog ability hasn’t been mentioned since the first book. No one ever uses the telepathic abilities for anything useful. Mason hasn’t used the illusion power for anything since it was introduced. FMC is too scared to try learning how to be a witch.

The main characters rush into fights with no magic or weapons or offensive skills… it’s like watching children rush into battle with the mafia. How can intelligent “adults” be so stupid and naive? Idk, but I don’t like reading it. The MC’s want to get out from under the thumb of the evil guys who are easily killing everyone they love, but they aren’t willing to do anything significant about it. Nothing. KILL THE BAD GUYS! Dummies. I hate reading about dummies.

The witch Manon Blackbeak from the Throne of Glass series would have never been in this situation. She would have carved the bad guys up with her teeth and fed the rest to her wyvern #witchgoals. You don’t stop evil guys set on ruling the world by being nice.

OW drama and jealousy in this book.

Wow the best of the bunch

I think this one is the best of the bunch. I still will lament that her erasing Trevor’s memories when he worked with people who worked with her dad was stupid, but so far it’s not come up so it must be a plot hole.

This one was long and a lot of things happen in it. We finally solidify the relationships too which I’m super happy about. But Adele imo is still floundering. She doesn’t even try to truly practice her magic or psych abilities. She did start training though in this book, but it’s not enough due to what we learn about Adele.

I appreciate that we FINALY get the men’s povs I’m so happy. I was wondering what it was. I still don’t know what drew them to Adele but it seems like neither does she so that’s the best explanation they just do.

I just don’t see how the next book could be the last, but I can also see how it could bc the books tend to be meaty.

I’m diving straight into the next book. But I’m sad it’ll be the end.

Great!!!

And the plot thickens! Side note, kinda loving that she is STILL not dedicating this book to her husband. That acknowledgment made me chuckle. But back to the book, the relationships in the 3rd installment take off, finally finding some physical fulfillment and potential with others. The mystery surrounding her abilities, and the death of their parents, is building and the mastermind is revealed... sort of. You’ll have to read it to understand. 😉

Pros:
- We get some POVs from the guys here, which rounds it out well.
- well written.
- well edited.
- character development.
- clipped along faster than book 2 did.

Cons:
- Heidi annoyed me. She’s lovely, but she still annoyed me.
- Still no idea why Jameson stressed ROSE when introducing her to Heidi in Book 2. Felt sure we’d clear that up here.
- need more witchy action!!

YOU GUYS!

Let me just start by saying I love the world Autumn Reed has created in this series. And the characters are perfection! This series is one of my top RH recommendations! And for those who have never read RH before, this is an amazing place to start! The slow-burn is everything!

This book in particular is probably my favorite in the series so far.

I normally have a favorite man when reading all RH, but I found I’m in love with all four... Adele is the perfect mix of sassy and innocent and the steam between her and her men is sooo satisfying but also left me craving more in a good way.

When I read the first book, I was immediately intrigued but wasn’t sure where it was headed. I am so happy with Autumn’s ability to throw twists you weren’t expecting and being so unpredictable. Her creativity is out of this world!

I can’t wait for Touch of Fate and to see how this amazing series concludes.

Aggggghhhhh

I finished book 2 at the perfect time, the day book 3 released. But now I have to wait until fall. Which really isn’t long. I know that. But this series is so freaking good I’m planning on being a big whiney baby about it. I might throw a temper tantrum.

I absolutely love the characters in this series. The world building is good, well explained, and the curve balls revealed in this book are perfect. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Going into book 3 of a 4 book series you know the plot has to step up to really put the story and readers in a good stop for the last book. This author does a fabulous job of this, something she has cemented with her other series time after time. She really takes the time to build up this world, give us depth of characters, and the culmination of it all is magical (even in her contemporary series). I thoroughly enjoyed this series!

Now in terms of the story, we still feel the losses that we experienced at the end of book 1 and in book 2, some characters have a really tough time taking the next step. It was very genuine all the feelings and even though some were frustrating, it felt like it could fit into real life despite this series being a supernatural theme. I liked seeing the changes in Adele's powers (not really changes but enhancements, new aspects of it), meeting new side characters (love Megan and her daughter!) and getting to know others who we have already fallen for (cue in George and Aunt Ruby). I love the hidden community, I think it would be fun to get maybe a spinoff from this world, maybe get some glimpses from Adele and her gang. Could be fabulous ❤️ I won't give too much away because the ending of this book is a doozie. Let's say Geppeto doesn't put the brakes on his persistence and the lengths he will go. We get to learn a lot about him and his motive behind everything. Also about Mason and his mysteriousness. I am glad book 4 was available in audio because if not I would have thrown my phone haha, let me leave it at that!

I really enjoyed the steam and romance speed going faster. After a slower than normal start (in comparison with the author's other series) I was so ready to see walls come down and for some fuuuun times. I thought there were some serious swoon worthy moments and some heat that was greatly done. I already have listened to book 4 so I know it gets even better in book 4 haha. I really like these characters and this family that Adele and the group have made 😊.

In terms of the narration, it was good. I enjoyed a lot of the emotional performances, the vulnerability, Adele being a BA and fierce. Again I thought she was OTT in some instances that took me out of the story but I would still give her a 4/5 for the narration.

Whew. There was a lot in this book. I actually had to take a step back from it for a bit after I finished reading it just to process everything.

First off, the flirtation between Adele and Mason was so deliciously slow burn that I nearly burst with anticipation of the will they, won’t they. Particularly considering Adele works with/for Mason, the flirting was sky high and I loved every second of it. Mason was one of those characters who, while I definitely liked him right from the start, I wasn’t sure Adele or the other guys could trust him, which made me wary of him. Now, though, I understand his reasoning behind working for The Collectors and it made him much more likable in my eyes. He’s still not my first pick of who I would trust the most out of the group, but he’s certainly standing a little more on solid ground after this read.

Adele … poor Adele. She’s gone through so much in her life, especially the short amount of time since The Collectors have found her, and my heart ached for her something awful. Her strength is astounding, even in the midst of her weakness and humanity. I love how the author is able to show that she’s still human; she’s still grieving and struggling with how different her life is from just a few months ago, but somehow she still manages to have an inner strength that I find incomparably admirable in her situation. I like that she isn’t so strong that you wonder if she’s even human, but she’s also not curled up in the fetal position, crying her eyes out. She’s strong out of necessity and through the will to survive, which I think makes her relatable and much more likable.

The more books that come out in this series, the less I know who my favorite guy is. Jameson, who is always surly and hard to read–but super sexy and obviously totally in love with Adele, despite how awful he’s been to her before. Noah, the empath, who can’t be in large crowds because he gets too overwhelmed with feeling everyone’s emotions at once. He’s also quite the computer geek and is so sweet and sensitive (which, obviously, I suppose he would have to be if he’s an empath). Stowe, the giant, lovable teddy bear of the group who’s insecure about his abilities but is completely comfortable with loving Adele and showing just how much he adores her (squee!). Then, of course, Mason–the cocky, rich, uber attractive boss of Adele who definitely has feelings for her, but whom Adele isn’t sure she can fully trust.

We also see Adele get to enjoy more of the physical aspect of her relationship with a couple of the guys. Whew. There was so much sexiness packed into those scenes, I felt like I needed to sit in front of an industrial sized fan! I’m not going to tell you which of the guys were the ones who took the relationship to the next level–you’ll have to read to find out!–but I will say that they were perfect and well worth the wait. I’m even more stoked to read the next book and see how the relationships progress!

There was a lot more involved with The Collectors in this one and I’m super apprehensive for Adele as she continues on this journey. There was also a huuuuge cliffhanger at the end, which for me at least made me even more excited for the next book, but the events leading up to it were definitely unsettling and I’m not sure how the group is going to deal with it. I guess I’ll find out when the next book is released!

Anyway, I highly recommend this series–especially if you’re into paranormal romance and don’t want to deal with the headache of having to choose which guy the heroine should be with. ;)

If you can't beat them, join them. Adele was almost consumed with hate and ideas of revenge but chose to follow the path of hope and love instead. However, just because she decided it wouldn't work to take the Collectors on directly doesn't mean that she has given up. Maybe it is better to keep your enemies close. Maybe she can take them down from the inside. With her powers changing and growing it's important that she learn how to master them as quickly as possible and to keep their full extent a secret. So Adele decides to accept a position with Gepetto and the Collectors but on her terms and with her friend's support.

This series continues to intrigue and impress me. Autumn Reed is an elegant author and her characters reflect this. Adele is sweet, smart, quirky, and growing into a confident woman. Her powers and magic and their potential are fantastic. Her main adversary Gepetto is proving worthy of fear. His greed and need for control make him dangerous. Noah really came alive in this book. His vulnerability and love for Adele made him shine and he just dripped sexiness. Jameson redeemed himself. I've had difficulty with this guy but each time I am ready to give up on him, he comes through in a big way. I still haven't made up my mind about Mason. There's something about him I don't trust. Maybe he's too smooth. I want him to prove me wrong. Stowe is still my favorite. He alternates between being an oversized teddy bear (or ogre) to being a sexy, romantic beast. These guys together are everything. Each unique, each having a different relationship with Adele, and each with words of devotion that make me melt. I love the combination of them all. I also love that the guys aren't the only people in Adele's life now. We still need the full return of Jem but I have faith. George and Ruby are splendid and I like Megan at first glance.

This story is entertaining and intelligent. The relationships are progressing, the danger is increasing, and Adele is becoming more of a force. The momentum is building. This story is written with a subtlety that is to be commended. There is a sense of grace, a hint of mystery, and a healthy dose of romance. It's a touch of excellence.

This series might be slow and steady in its pace but somehow the characters have made their way into my heart and I definitely need to know what would happen next.
Hayden as the narrator is freaking amazing and has made this series more magical with her voice.

Oohhh... The first thing I have to say is that this series finally broke its "clean" streak with this book where things get hot and spicy between Noah and Adele and also Stowe and Adele together.
Ahhh..... They were definitely hot together although we only get the whole thing with Stowe and Adele, the chemistry with the other men in her life remains equally strong.

Something happens though and suddenly now Jameson seems to be out of the race to win Adele's affections.

Adele is seeming to be going another way by using a different tactic. If you can't win against your enemy who's extremely powerful then you can join them and plan a different tactic.

With the help of Mason, Adele finally dips her toes in the one thing she never thought she'd do but even though things seem simple at first, she's scared of what might be next.

Stowe and Noah are my favorite but I have to say, there's something about Mason that you can't help but be charmed by him and along with Adele I was equally falling for his charms.

That ending though... OH MY.... Comes out of the blue but the series of events that happen one after the other, I was so freaking shocked but also scared and nervous as to how would Adele and the Pysche squad be able to tackle this huge reveal especially when there seems to be no trace of what happened.

I can't wait to start the next one. Can't believe I'm at the series finale already with the next one.

Okay, where to begin. If you are familiar with Autumn Reed, you know she is talented. If you are not, I am here to tell you she is a great writer that knows her business. She has a way of making the reader anticipate what is to come. She hooks us with a great storyline and then delivers.

In the two previous books I feel like we have been getting to know the characters and the threat to them and a good pace to the story. Here in Touch of Promise, I feel like things are starting to fit together. Pieces are being moved and put into place. Everything is moving forward at a faster pace, after all we only have one more book left in the series.

We have where finally Adele and I are on the same page relationship wise. I understand why she kept resisting so long, but really, I honestly would have given in a long time ago. The group is meshing well together, and we do see some movement on the Jameson. Good or bad you will have to see.

Overall this series has amped up, we get more movement on the good and bad front. While Adele is moving forward, so is Geppetto. Just hang on, you are in for a ride with this one.

Best book of the series so far!

Yessssssss!!!! Finally, we are getting somewhere! That ending though… man oh man, I am ready for the last book of the series!!!

Adele finally finds out what the Collectors want and it’s so unexpected, it’s crazy! Noah, Stowe and Mason are all finally acknowledging their relationship but poor Jameson doesn’t see what’s happening right in front of him and if he doesn’t change his tune fast, it might pass him by! This is the slowest burn why choose series I’ve ever read but I’m so in love with the storyline, that’s just an added bonus at this point. But I am definitely hoping for more steam in the last book.

Goodness. The ending was ridiculous! We finally were at a point where we were getting some crazy answers and then the author decided to do us like Breaking Dawn part II and jussst kidding! Lol. Man! I’m so ready for book 3!

*Overall 5/5
*Heat? 2/5
*Med Burn (Slow burn overall)
*Multiple (yay) first person POV
*MFMMM
*Ends on duh duh duhhhh cliffhanger

So so good

I really am so in love with this series and damn that Mason Montgomery...... This is the third book in a reverse harem series with mystery, magic, romance, and suspense! I love love love how she does the RH. I typically really struggle when the mc has a ton of love interests who are all alphas in their own way but don’t mind sharing without any real dialogue. This book really does make the situation semi-plausible and much easier to accept. I love that there was an establishment of rules and that the characters really seemed to grow together. I really appreciate that the love story was just a part of the fascinating plot and not the main focus. I am very excited to read the conclusion of this series. I did not see the twists coming in this book, which is always the best, and I can’t fathom how the resolution will present itself. This series is so so good. Start with book 1 and give it a go you won’t regret it!

It feels like a sad trend that's happening to me for series that i love. The continuation of the books is not as good as the first two. Dont get me wrong i still enjoyed the hell out of this one, but it felt like something was missing.

Noah Greene is still my book boyfriend and in this one it just cemented my love for the sweet empath.

I wish there was some more Jem and Adele time ( aleast she acknowledges that she has been a shitty friend)

Mason is integrating nicely with the psych squad and we got to find out more about his past.

The book picked up near the end
Alot of mystery was semi-solved and unexpected things popped up.

I cant wait for the next book but also feeling a bit sad because it the last and there's still so much more thing i want to happen.

Woww!!! This book is amazing!! I loved it so much more than the last books in this series! Adele’s powers are slowly coming together and she is truly incredible. She’s a force to be reckoned with. She’s also building up her relationships with Noah, Mason, Jameson, and Stowe and I’m loving where they are headed right now. Right when I thought I knew what was going to happen, a little twist threw me off. I love how her magic is becoming stronger, too, and how she keeps up with her aunt and George. I can’t wait for the last book in this series: Touch of Fate, to come out soon!! This series has such an interesting take on magic and psychic abilities that I will truly miss it! A great read and I highly recommend this book and series!

This is the third book in an amazing series. The first book already was amazing and the next was even better. This one will knock you off your feet. I love the twists in the story. I like how the guys are all amazing. I don't even have a favorite. I can't choose. I want them all. I like how Adele's magic is getting stronger and that she is sassy but still innocent. I love the development of the relationships and where this book is heading! Keep it up. This is so amazing! I can’t wait for the last book in this series: Touch of Fate! If you haven't started this series begin at book 1 and be satisfied book 2 and 3 are out also.

Twists and turns

Touch of Promise is the third book in Collector series. Adele’s powers are slowly coming together and she's a force to be reckoned with. I really like the characters with all their quirks and how they care for Adele. She’s is really building up her relationships with Noah, Mason, Jameson, and Stowe. The sto4y really has some great twist and turns, you think the story is headed one way then something different happens. I can’t wait for the last book in this series to come out and to watch how it all concludes.

Ok so last book I was unsure about adding Mason to the mix, my personal opinion BUT as usual Autumn shows me the error of my thinking and hands me such great arguments on a silver platter
I'm really starting to love the relationship development with Adele and her men, such great story writing that it just all falls into place so seamlessly and I am devouring every minute. As far as antagonist go Gepetto just tubs me wrong ugh... I can't wait to see how this all plays out and what else we see from Adele!

OMG!

I just can't, this keeps getting better & better! This truly was a roller-coaster ride for sure & it gave me so many twist and turns that I didn't know what was coming next! Adele finally gets answers to her questions but sadly she doesn't remember them, weird huh! I can't wait to find out if she gets them back, can't wait to know what Stowe will think or how he'll react! One thing I'm excited for is the relationships cause they are finally on track. Definitely a must read series!!

Within Touch of Promise, book three in the Collectors Series there is SO much happening that my wee heart was racing to keep up and take it all in. Adele is coming into her own and her relationships are blossoming! There is mystery, intrigue, love and action jam packed into this book and although that ending has me on tender hooks it only makes me want more!! Fantastic book!! @autumnreedauthor 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Read whole series as one on kindle so this review is for the whole series. Very romance heavy and the plot did suffer a bit for it. Writing a harem is difficult but I feel like the author did it well, as the dynamic was discussed and considered in text. Main character was a bit irritating at times in a "what you expect from y/n fanfic" kinda way (to clarify this is not a y/n series). The main character is also wildly OP which lead to some easy-fixings plot wise. Overall, decent series.
