"Ascension" has become one of the most popular VRMMO games. It is a huge world divided into a hundred Floors, with each Floor a boundless location with its own countries, tribes, and millions of players.
The object of the game is to unlock all the gates and conquer the top.
Having joined the game, Will Thomson doesn't realize that he is all by himself. Then he accepts the first quest....
I didn't like this one as much as the first. There are hints of a larger story being revealed, but going on what we know now, there just aren't high enough stakes. It's a game, and he's earning money. If he fails, he'll have to go back to working a different job.
The tension is all in the game, but in the game Will is a fairly awful person. Either it's ok, cause it is a game, or it is more and he's an unlikeable villain.
There aren't enough real world conflicts, and in the game I'm not sure I want the protagonist to succeed. Meh.
Book is very engaging and love that not only the character is making achievements. I feel as if the book is building to a great group dynamic for a future where the MC is forced to work together and build something more. Could be wrong, but that is the fun in being pulled into the author’s universe. Can’t wait to see how the MC grows into a more developed character and where his adventures will take us next.
Tyipcal below averwge lrpg. In monlog Ramblings tons of inconstence plots that radomly contridict something a few capters ago. Whole chapter that could be a feq paragraphs. What gave it a 2 star thogh it ends with the conpany forcing someone to watch a rap seen of his 15 year old sistrer. Aka forced to watch child porn. He think its perfectly all right for levels and gold and does not get made at the developers.
This continuation takes a strong turn into psychological thriller. Not quite, but leaves you with a lot to think about. The translator only has a couple of odd things, none of which were more than a bit of awkwardness. Good story fun challenging and in this book we start to see skills advance. Excited for book 3. Warning about explicit language.
I really like the pacing and depth of the story. The characters all have life, without getting so deep they are not believable. The story itself is well written and interesting.
More depth than a lot of the translated stories you find coming from Russia. The main character is actually developing and doing some changing, especially at the end. Can't wait to see how that develops.
The translation is better than the first book. I could understand the intended meaning this time. Unfortunately, the game mechanics still suck. The story is interesting enough to keep me reading, though that might just be the quarantine boredom.
Most of the issues of the previous book are resolved in this one, a more concise translation, the mc actually taking part in the world not just following others around, the story is still interesting, but not exciting, no tension or sense of drama.
Book 1 started off good, but book 2 went down the stereotypical Russian rabbit hole of crazy. The MC turned into a utter jerk and this also turned into some sort of physiological experiment of mind games with anger issues.. Bottom line, it turned into a Job and it is not fun anymore.
This one escalated big time. It was brutal and there was a lot of Very disturbing scenes. It was an okay book and I do like the leveling and all the money he makes but I wouldn’t pay for one of these on audible. Gonna move onto something else.
Well written, not to complicated but still engaging. The MC is good, I think he might be a little bit op but otherwise, very good, looking forward to number 3
same as EVERY book in the series it's AMAZING. there are much less spelling/grammar mistakes, characters narration and plot in my opinion fully deserve 5 stars.
