Sabine Nevemone has just moved to the small quaint town of Gloomvale to start a new life after being dumped by narcissistic boyfriend Oliver Rein.
Sabine has landed herself a job at Bad Brews coffeehouse, where she is working for the handsome rogue Tristan Roseblood, a mysterious handsome devilish vampire who always gets what he desires. At first, Sabine could not believe her luck that she’s gotten a job so fast, but things in Gloomvale aren't all they seem. Tristan is a powerful man, and he knows it.
Sabine is reluctant to comply when Tristan forces her to come on an errand with him, which almost results in both her and Tristan getting killed because an old enemy catches up with Tristan. Tristan patches Sabine up, telling her she’s in a very dangerous world, and it would be best if she got out of town for her own sake. Sabine refuses to leave. This proves to be a fatal mistake on her part.
“You can’t get close to me. Get out while you can. I’m not a good match for a sweet thing like you. Trust me. Actually, don’t.” He warns her.
The only trouble is now Sabine is in too deep. She’s falling for him. Hard. But when Tristan rebuffs Sabine, and she falls straight into his mysterious brother Laurence’s arms, it can only spell disaster for all concerned. Sabine then gets herself in real trouble when she's bitten on her way home. Will Tristan find her in time, or will she die alone?
USA Today best-selling author Isra Sravenheart brings us into the intense world of Tristan Roseblood. A vampire with a dark past, only trouble is when Sabine stumbles into it, she, too, becomes entwined in his chaos. A paranormal romance jam-packed with suspense and intrigue and two charming vampires to boot.
***STOP PRESS. THE DARK SPELL SERIES IS NOW COMPLETE, READY FOR YOU TO BINGE ****
THE SPIN OFF, WICKEDLY GOOD SOULS, KICKS OFF WITH "WICKED LIGHTBRINGER" LANDING SEPT 2022!*****
I'm not very good at talking about myself in the third person.
Isra is an eccentric author whose heart resides with the dark fantasy but also paranormal genres. Cats and coffee are her main interests. She's also a pretty badass witch and often envisions new adventures involving dragons, witches, warlocks and really likes villains. When she's not writing she's rewatching Supernatural for the umpteenth time and thirsting over Jensen Ackles. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is a well written paranormal romance with strong characters and an intriguing story line. It's an intense story that had me glued to the pages reading. The author brings tons of suspense as she weaves this interesting read. The scenes are painted perfectly and the story flows fluidly. Loved and recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Forbidden Rendezvous with the Devil, A Witch Vampire Love Story, Book 1 in the Dark Lore Vampire Conspiracies Series, by Isra Sravenheart
This was an exciting romance filled with suspense and steam. Sabine and Tristan were two very different characters. Sabine was a witch seeking to live a chill life following a brutal break-up. Tristan was a vampire coffee shop owner with his own agenda. Their worlds collided when Tristan caved to his desire for Sabine but danger lurked in unlikely places.
What this story does good is build up the relationship between Sabine and Tristan. It moves quick but the two are wrapped in each other’s world. I was surprised that there was not one but a few individuals lurking to see the two separate. The way the book ended sent me for a bit of a tail spin. I didn’t see what happened coming. I felt a bit blind sided by it. There was one antagonist I was pleased to see handled but another one I didn’t actually realize was also a antagonist until the end. Overall this story was an interesting read. I would recommend it to 18+ because of some of the steamy scenes and violence. This was my first story by this author and I look forward to reading more if her work in the future.
Gotta say that Sabine was lucky to me dumped by the Dud Of an ex boyfriend, she deserved better. Well in meeting the two vampire brothers, and working for one I think that she will definitely be better off. But she does have a close call and you will have to read to find out. I Loved this book and definitely want the next one!!! Great Read!!! No Spoilers!
I received an ARC from BookSirens and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review Because I Choose to and Loved this story!!! I need more, please!
I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased, I might add, when this line popped up during a discussion about relationships: ‘Not everything in this human life is measured by what some loser guy does. You are worth more merit than you give to yourself’. More girls and women need to know this and live like they believe it. Especially our protagonist…
Fave quote: ‘I'll have a coffee. Three sugars. Black as my soul’
Looking forward to starting the Dark Spell series (I have #’s 1-4).
This is a great paranormal romance. Sabine our fmc is dumped, outed and loses her job so leaves and moves to the small quaint town of Gloomvale to start all over but all is not as it seems! It’s a fun and exciting read that totally holds your attention and is full of twists and surprises. The characters are well developed and some are likeable, others you would just like to punch!! Fast paced, intriguing and suspenseful, i look forward to more in this series.
This is a very quick read with an interesting premise. The storyline was very fun, and I enjoyed Tristan's character. It's fast paced and very intriguing. Oliver, however, can go suck an egg. Ex-boyfriends suck most of the time. There were a lot of interesting twists that kept my attention. Solid paranormal romance!
Sabine moves to a small after being ditched by her boyfriend. She obtains a job in a café quite easily. She is a witch, but except for the mention of ex leaving her for that reason, there isn't any magic going on.
Tristan is the owner of the café and he is rather abrupt in his approach. I struggled to finish this book as I just couldn't get into it. Sabine is flighty and does the most irresponsible things which lead to dire consequences. It's not one of my favourites, but I am sure other readers might enjoy it.
I received an eARC from BookSirens and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Good quick read. Sabine got it hard in the beginning, with her ex leaving her and ousting her as a witch. Moving to a new town to get a new start is never easy, but it's so much harder when you're a witch who just wants to have a normal life! Her new love interest Tristan, comes on too strong, but some women like that. Not me, I'm a slow-wooer, lol. There is some suspense and a couple unexpected twists but was an overall good storyline.
If breaking up was not bad enough, the fmc loses everything and is ousted as a witch and has to start over. New life, new love, new adventure. She gets settled into her new life with a new job and her boss doesn't hold back on his wanting her. Followed by some twists, this was a short fun book with well-developed characters and storyline.
DNF Thankyou for the opportunity to have this as an ARC but sadly I did DNF this book. I just felt it wasn't for me and I couldn't get into it to be able to enjoy it. This is only reason it is a 1 star as I can't give a proper rating that will be fair, due to me not finishing it. However just because I have DNF shouldn't stop anyone else from reading as it could be for somebody else so please don't let this stop anyone else from trying it.
This was an ARC and it was just really hard for me to get into. The storyline is a good one. I just had a hard time to keeping interested. I definitely recommend it to anyone who finds it interesting, the plot is a good one. It just wasn't for me.
It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best either. I felt like Sabine and Tristan's relationship (if you can call it one) developed too fast and was weird.... also that ending. That ending threw me off. Please tell me there will be a second one so I can find out what in the world that was all about. Overall not bad. It kept my attention and I finished it in a day.
I loved this book! Sabine got more than she bargained for in this story . Two brothers one in love with her the other obsessed. Of course the horrible ex. That’s all I have to say ,you must read this book. I can’t wait for the second book.
This is not a bad story at all. There are some continuity issues and to be honest I didn’t care for all the internal dialog. Telling me what the MC is thinking is not unwelcome, but when nearly half what I’m reading is internal dialog it loses the effect and just becomes unnecessarily copious.
The person to person dialog seems strained most of the time, but it’s hard to tell because see copious internal dialog note. I also am getting A LOT of telling instead of showing.
I was unable to connect with any of the characters, even the MFC. Everything seemed jumbled together and rushed, though also going nowhere, so that left me confused and wondering if I missed something. I even went back a page or two and reread just to be sure it wasn’t something I skipped over.
Again, this is not a bad book, it’s just not a great book.
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.
1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.
I received an advanced copy of this book for my review.
This is a paranormal romance with minimal spice written in first person. Technically its multi POV but we only see Sabine's POV until about 70% in.
I hate that I didn't enjoy this book. It has so much potential with an interesting story line but the writing style was not for me. At first I thought this book must be the first try for the author until I looked and saw that is not the case.
The inner dialogue was a lot. So much was redundant and in my opinion, unnecessary. There were times that the inner dialogue was so long between actual dialogue that I had to flip back to remember what was really going on.
The dialogue in general is stilted and at times I felt as if part of the story was missing. The insta love itself felt forced and incomplete. The were several incomplete sentences, an abundance of exclamation points and the overuse of the word "ha" which was just weird in my opinion.
The main character, Sabine, wasn't my type of heroine. I found her weak and annoying. She would drop her entire life story to everyone she met. I couldn't connect with her enough either to actually care what happened to her.
This book ended on a sort of cliffhanger. I mean, it just ended, as if in the middle of a thought. It was strange and I'm unsure if there will be another book after this but I don't feel enough connection with these characters to bother reading the next book when it comes out.
I always want to be honest with both the author and the reader when I review a book, and this one left me wanting....a lot. First, the title and the actual story have little in common. I never did get the gist of the story, more than likely because it simply was written so badly. When I first started the book, I thought perhaps it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek sarcasm, but the more I read, I realized that wasn't it at all. It was just poor writing. Poor grammar. Poor punctuation. Even poorer sentence structure. Was it a bad translation from a foreign language, I finally questioned?
None of the characters were stand-outs. Tristan seemed to be reasonably stable, but that didn't last long. And Sabine was a flake from the get-go. There was absolutely no rational substance to either of them; then throw in crazy Oliver and Tristan's psychotic brother Laurence, and we have quite a stew of nuts.
The story lacked any cohesiveness. A thought was pursued part way, then went off in another direction without any resolution. While I do not wish to seem cruel in my assessment, I would not recommend this book, nor would I personally ever read another book by this author.
For the most part I enjoyed this story. Sabine is a 25yr old small town girl with self esteem issues and a jerk ex boyfriend. She moves to a new town and meets her new boss, a moody vampire named Tristan. A love story of sorts develops along with other dramas. I won’t lie, I had a love hate relationship with these characters. Sabine is super whiny and just stupid at times, Tristan is an asshole and has narcissistic traits but at times I love them both. The supporting characters in this book were not bad but they left a lot of unanswered questions. I feel like this story line had such great potential but I noticed a lot of plot holes and things that didn’t match up. You also never really get answers to why some things happen. So those things I feel like make it a 3star but overlooking that, I like the story and was an easy read so that’s why I left 4.
Being a fan of stories about witches and vampires living in the modern world I definitely wanted to read this one about Sabine, a newly outed witch and Tristan her new boss who just happens to be a vampire. Sabine’s just moved to a new town for a fresh start, after her ex revealed she's a witch. Initially, Tristan, her new boss comes across as a little strong, he's moody and can be a jerk but then no one is perfect.
The characters are well drawn, but I felt their story was a little rushed, I also deducted a mark for the amount of internal dialogue we are given. That said I did enjoy the storyline which had some interesting twists and turns as well as some great chemistry and a good ending. I look forward to seeing what happens in the next book in the series.
Sabine is a self proclaimed witch who gets dumped and thrown out of her hometown when her Christian boyfriend finds out that she practices. She moves to a new town. Within a week she finds a job, gets seduced, loses her job and gets turned into a vampire.
There were a lot of interesting twists. It bothered me that there a few things that attention was drawn to indicating to the reader was a plot device but never were important to the storyline. I was expecting more from Sabine being a witch and less of a woman who everyone wants to undress. I am curious as to where the next book will go.
This was an ARC.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This a shorter novel, but felt appropriate for this story. Sabrine is forced out of the family, as her husband has been cheating on her, and really wants te replace with the "New Girl" Sabrine decides that she needs to make a new life in a new city. This is always a difficult move. She meets a strong, outspoken man named Tristen. We quickly see to rush their romance into something serious. The story line is solid with some mystery and suspense mixes in. The characters are solid. and I can't wait to get my hands on the next novel in the series. I really enjoyed this novel and recommend it to others,
I enjoyed following Sabine’s journey as she starts over in a new town after she lose everything in her old life after her ex reveals she is a witch. She meets Tristan who is her new boss but will become something more soon. Tristan is a moody vampire who can be jerk at times. But Sabine and Tristan journey has twist and turns but the ending is good. I can’t wait to see how the rest of this series turns out.
The characters are amazing. And Isra Sravenheart does wonderful job with plot but sometimes it did seem rushed. Ken Solin does an incredible job with narrating the story. He brings the characters to life. I definitely recommend this audiobook.
This book was steady and characters were engaging. Thats about all I can say.
I listened on audible and this is were I felt the book was let down. There was a constant hum behind the narration, which made it very difficult for me to continue listening. It disappeared when the narration took a break such as chapters ending. As a neurodivergent person, the pitch of the hum was very off putting. I put up with it as I promised to review but it hugely affected my ability to soak up the world the story creates. If there is a way to clean up the hum I feel it would really improve this book qualities.
Forbidden rendezvous with the devil was a quick paranormal romance book and it was absolutely amazing. Sabine ends up moving to a new town after being dumped by a douche canoe of an ex boyfriend and as soon as she moves to the new town things heat up. I couldn't stop reading this story once I started it kept me wanting more. You won't be dissapointed in reading this story. It was my first one by Isra Sravenheart and definitely won't be my last. I recieved an arc copy of this story and my opinions are honest and true.
I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. I had a very hard time concentrating on this book. I think it was the narrator. He wasn't exactly monotone, but almost. He didn't bring any personality to any of these characters. 2 stars for him. I really liked the plot and characters. I tried hard to figure them out. I actually listened to this book twice because I knew I could enjoy it. I'm still not fully satisfied. I'd recommend you pass on the audio version and read it yourself. 4 stars for the book.
Loved the concept of this book and was excited to get an ARC of it. Loved the concept of a witch who has just been dumped by her boyfriend who meets a mysterious vampire and ends up in a world she wasn't prepared for but I just couldn't connect with this book. It was a slow starter but once it got going I was excited to see where the storyline was going and it had tension and excitement and I'm sure there are lots of readers who will love it, sadly it just wasn't the book for me.
A well-paced paranormal romance that is quirky enough to be a page-turner. The protagonist's flight from her ex and her history to a new town kicks off all kinds of new troubles for her. Fortunately, she is witty enough to hold her own, despite the interests of Tristran and Laurence. Graphic enough to hold your attention, I look forward to others in the series. A good story.
Breaking up is hard. Having to leave town after your ex outs you as a witch, even worse. I wish that I could say that was the worst of it for Sabine, but it wasn't. If you want to know all of the twists and turns, I know that you do, then read the book.
I loved the sas and determination Sabine had. All the other characters were just as well crafted. I was taken on a thrilling ride and know I'll be reading more from this author.
