This book is a humorous rant. However, it doesn't really answer the question that is set out in the title. Instead, what we get is the auto-biography of the author, and his personal opinion on life in general. The author has a breezy style of writing, so one can read the book quickly. However, I also got the feeling after reading this book that the book itself falls under the same category of "useless things" that it is complaining about. The book would have been so much better if the author did not talk so much about his life story, and just address the question of why so many things are useless, and how society should go about addressing the uselessness problem.
