World War II has forced Zane Carter to become a survivor, a fierce soldier, and a godless man whose hands are covered in blood. After a horrendous explosion he finds himself trapped in Nazi-occupied France.
With no means of escape, Zane endeavors to stay low, but it is not easy surviving behind enemy lines. Every day he is tormented by the horrors of war, his tumultuous past, and strange visions. He wishes nothing but death.
As days pass, Zane discovers that the world around him is not what it appears to be. A dark force, far more dangerous than the Nazis, looms in the shadows. As he begins to put the pieces together, he discovers that he is a soldier fighting more than one war, in a broken world and he is running out of time. If he fails, he could not only lose his life, but also jeopardize the future of humanity.
The way I write and approach research has been shaped (bless me!) by many incredible people. These individuals can be grouped into three categories: researchers, authors, and mentors. They’ve created websites, shared their struggles through blogs, published their work, and, from these varied sources, I’ve learned so much. Their journeys have inspired me in countless ways, and now, I feel it’s my turn to pay it forward. 😊
About Me
Born and raised in India, I wrote whenever I could—even after becoming a doctor. Writing was my savior during tough times, though it always remained just a hobby. Later, I moved to Australia to further my research and complete a PhD in Biomedical Sciences.
People often say, “You change after completing your PhD.” I certainly have. Suddenly (don’t ask me why!), I feel a strong urge to write more books and share my stories with the world. I’ve also discovered a deep passion for helping others develop their research and creative skills—something that has become one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.
H.G. Ahedi's Transcendence is a bit like an episode of "The Twilight Zone" or a macabre, suspenseful nightmare. I loved that I never knew what would happen next, even as World War II soldier Zane uncovers more pieces to the puzzle of what happened to him. This is a highly entertaining story, and a great read for fans of dystopian science fiction!
A novel that reads like one of the BEST futuristic Twilight Zones ever!
I completely enjoyed this story from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. It starts off with a soldier who is a survivor of WW2, trapped in France, and he's trying to stay under the radar as he lives life on a farm while dealing with feelings of guilt, remorse, anguish, and sadness. He tries to build a simple life and the author does an exceptional job with these 'simple life' farm scenes as she writes in a way that makes you feel the peace and calm that can come from such an existence. But then, life changes and becomes FAR from simple and the real plot twist happens – again, the tension and drama beautifully written by the author.
I thought the writing was exceptional and this book is a page turner. The themes were relevant to the world we live in today, especially around the future threat of more wars and artificial intelligence. This book read like a thriller mixed with science fiction with deep and meaningful messages for every human to listen and learn from. I HIGHLY recommend this book. It's a quick read, entertaining and fantastic in every sense of the word.
This took me some time to read. But it was also a great one for sure! I love how the book took place during World War II! One of the most interesting moments in history. I love how science fiction was mixed into this as well. While reading the book there were so many amazing parts. How Zane went through so much through the book. It was amazing how the ending was. Greg needing help, and hoping Zane can be the one. and all Zane could say in the end was, " I am just a soldier." After finishing this book all I am wanting now is to read more about these characters, and now on what can happen next!
wow. This book isn't one of my normal genres, I usually don't read many historical fictions, although that's not exactly what I could class this book as due to events that unfold that push this firmly into the sci-fi section in the most interesting manner. It certainty has a number of surprises in store for the reader. From the onset there is mystery and intrigue that will keep you turning the pages, trying to deduce events and unravel the truth, with more than one twist. I really enjoyed Zane's story and watching everything come together fantastically.
I loved this story. Its plot keeps you guessing the whole way through, with twists and turns making you question where the story is heading next. It kept me thoroughly entertained! The main character Zane finds himself in a world he doesn’t recognise and slowly but surely he realises what his purpose is, in the dystopian world he finds himself in. What is real and what isn’t? That’s the question! I read this for a bookclub on KU and definitely recommend this short but intriguing book!
An artful mashup of the best of contemporary sci fi blockbusters with questions of spirituality and what it might mean to stay human in the face of out inhuman obsessions.
The plot will keep you guessing with puzzles and red herrings dropped amongst the breadcrumb trail that takes the reader through to the nail biting conclusion. Definitely one to make you wonder where we have come from and wonder why we are going in our current direction.
I was lucky to work as the editor of 'Transcendence' by H. G. Ahedi. 'Transcendence' is a fast-moving story that brings sci-fi and historical fiction together in an exciting and innovative tale. As the book's characters navigate twists and turns that could alter the course of the past and the future, they discover new truths about the world and their place within it. Another great book by H. G. Ahedi!
This was a REALLY good, quick read. As far as genres go, it's a surprising blend of historical fiction, alt-history, and science fiction. You don't really see the sci-fi at the end, and it did throw me for a bit of a loop. Yet, I still enjoyed it! I saw a lot of familiar themes from pop-culture and novels. For example: the obsession with uniformity and one person who stands out from the Divergent series, the looping aspect from movies like Groundhog Day, and the weird simulation-like scenarios from the Matrix.
The storyline is interesting and engaging enough to keep you guessing up until the very last moment. The reader is just as lost as Zane is, and the act of putting together the little puzzle pieces was so much fun. It was like a guessing game. I went from "he's in a coma" to "he's stuck in an experiment" to "omg aliens." It kept setting me up for one thing and then proving me wrong. I absolutely loved it. Somehow, the ending STILL caught me off guard!
Essentially, if you're a fan of alt-history or science fiction, you'll enjoy this quick read. Solid 8/10 for me. Very well done, H.G. Ahedi!
With more questions than answers and a tremendous reveal at its center Transcendence absolutely excels at doing what a good book should do. It keeps you reading. I grimaced and disagreed a lot, I wish the writing style were different, but one thing I never was was disinterested. So after a lot of deliberation I award five stars and I will read the next one
This highly enjoyable read will have you trying to puzzle out what exactly is going on until the ending which leaves you in disbelief! It's very well written and easy to read. The way the writer has you learning pieces of the puzzle as the Character Zane does is fantastic. If you enjoy a bit of Historical Fiction and puzzles this is the book for you! Read as part of a book club.
I normally read Fantasy and watch Science Fiction. This story reminds me of the many Star Trek episodes where the crew ends up back in time, which are some of my favorites. I was quite surprised by how much I liked this book. It's fast paced and unpredictable. Very easy to read as it kept my attention throughout. I read this as part of a book club, and highly recommend it!
This Is Quite A Page-turner! I Thought it Was A Brilliant, Well Written, Futuristic Twilight Tale! I Would Definitely Be Reading This More Than Once! lol! I Surely Would Be Recommending This Book And The Author.
This book kept me engaged from start to finish. I went through various suppositions about what was happening, each chapter bringing in more pieces of the puzzle. It isn't what I was expecting, and that is a good thing; it proves the author weaved the threads of this story with great skill. I loved the sprinkles of spiritual reflections and questions about our existence as humans. It is an easy read and relatively short, but it delivered the message. I read this on KU as part of a book club and will definitely pick up more books by this author.
Good for a quick read but I needed more to the storyline
The book started out well but 3/4s of the way in I didn't really get it. The storyline needs to be expanded on and has good potential. Its worth a quick read but I needed more at the end.
