Damien has recently come to terms with his sexuality, and is ready to embrace his newfound identity. He's awkward and geeky, but has a heart of gold and would do anything for the people he cares about. Stevie has been out for years, and is very comfortable in his own skin, fully embracing himself as he is. He's confident and very experienced, but harbors dark secrets and lives with a mysterious man no one in his night life knows about. When stars align and this unlikely duo meet at a bar on a rainy April night, their lives flip on their heads as they delve into a sparking relationship, passing through the tribulations of life, family, friends, and mental health.
WOW! This was a beautiful book. The acceptance and tolerance from Damien for Stevie, it just made me wish we could have more of this in real life especially lately. And what enhanced the beauty was the kindness and patience Stevie had for Damien and what he taught him. There was also wonderful gender rep with their friend Fallon and his suffering. And speaking of suffering "Out of all the sex I'd had in my life, and I stopped counting the men a long time ago, it was never, never because I simply wanted to. It was always work or worse. I didn't always have a say in the matter." Stevie said that. I loved that Damien was a POC, I loved Stevie's part Asian culture, the found family, the real family. This is this author's first book and I hope there are many more!
This book really surprised me! I finished it and felt really warm inside, really sunk into the pages and finished in one sitting! A beautiful LGBTQIA+ novel with a HEA that everyone should read!
