Was interesting to get the different perspectives of how different people feel and desire sex. I learned a lot however there were some parts that were a little too spiritual/ethereal for me... however that's just my personal taste.

The theory of this book is that there are several different sexual "personality types" she calls "blueprints." It was unclear how these were developed. It appears she simply made them up, I guess she feels it's legit because of her experience as a sex coach. Sort of like how Freud made up all sorts of nonsense about wanting to fuck your mom based on his own experience as a clinician.

Still, I figured there might be some insight to be gained by reasoning about our extremely diverse sexual needs in this way. I tried to persevere through the silly stuff on my way to my hoped-for nugget or two of insight, but the insights were not coming, while the silliness just got sillier.

"Sensuals can have orgasms just from eating something delicious (yes!) They'll frequently moan or do a happy dance while eating great food. That's a telltale sign someone has a strong Sensual component. It's fun to see. They may not even be aware they're moaning while they're doing it!"

No, it is not possible to have an actual sexual orgasm from eating food. That's silly. No, moaning while eating something yummy is not the same as an orgasm. That's silly.

"In Ayurveda, one of the oldest healing sciences from India, they use a daily oil massage called abhyanga."

No, Ayurveda is not a "healing science." That's silly. What does "healing science" even mean? Ayurveda is an alternative medicine pseudoscience. Pseudoscience is so widespread amongst all types of practitioners except doctors and surgeons that I am always wary of any signs that they're pushing nonsense when I start reading their books. They almost always go there. I even knew a hair dresser once who thought they were "healing" their clients!

"And while we're on the topic of orgasms: Sensuals can orgasm just about anywhere on the body."

Nope. That's silly too. Not saying it never happens. There are some spots on the body that are packed with nerve endings, and I imagine it's possible for a sensitive person to become so hyper stimulated that they can orgasm from stimulation, but it is certainly not common enough to lend an entire personality type to it. Even in these extremely rare instances, it's silly to suggest that they can orgasm "just about anywhere on the body."

That's about as far as I got before the eyerolling became too painful and I couldn't stand wasting my time on it any longer.

I think the Erotic Blueprints are a very interesting way to understand your idea of pleasure and how to focus on your wants and needs when it comes to intimacy (and all of that goes for your partner, too!). This book goes through each blueprint in detail, pros and cons, as well as how different blueprints can match with one another. It's almost like the 5 Love Languages: if you know how you like to receive love and how you prefer to give love, then you can lean into those for a better relationship with your partner(s). Highly recommend!

What the Myers-Briggs test is for personality, the Blueprint is for sexuality. You can find the "Erotic Blueprint Quiz" on many websites. The "free" version will tell you which is your predominant type. For a price ($17?) you can find how you rate in all five types.

The first two-thirds of this book was interesting. The problem is the unevenness of the coverage. Some portions were comprehensive, while others skimmed a bit. The last third seemed to be filler -- it just didn't interest me much.

Jaiya's work is amazing. I love to think of the blueprints she discovered as the erotic love languages. Her time and dedication to this work is inspirational. As a somatic sexologist, her findings are both empowering and can be life, and sex-life changing for individuals and couples.

After years of absorbing her info on the erotic blueprint through any medium I could find, I'm so looking forward to reading this book.
