Devastated by the early death of her best friend, the author forges a relationship with her friend’s severely disabled adult daughter. This essay tackles assumptions about disability and loss and details how a shared love of clothing, laughter, and their mutual need for warmth and intimacy revives the connection to the dead friend the author feared was forever lost.

A short emotional listen. This story is about the bonds of women and how they play a role in our life. It is hard to describe without spoiling the story. I listened and found it interesting but felt this could have been developed into a longer story. I enjoyed the beginning but not so much the ending.

This is a a sad but moving short story about loss, disease, and shopping. I read the book to open my mind, but was reminded of my own love of shopping from when I was younger and how I used clothing and shoes to fill voids in my life. I always failed at it.

It was short but very moving. So much revealed about female relationships and how we love and honor each other.

I was disappointed that this story was told from the perspective of an able bodied person. I was expecting something different based on the wheelchair on the cover.
