It’s really good as a survey book. It doesn’t even skim the surface of the theology or the incredible story telling and literary design that the Tanakh has to offer. But like I said, for a survey book it gets the job done very well. But don’t be expecting it to completely change the way you read the Tanakh like a more in depth piece of writing would.

This is a good introduction. I especially love the pictures. I assigned this to my college students in my Ancient Israel course, and they liked it. However, as I was making my PowerPoints for each lesson, I found myself using the book less and less because it didn't have everything that I wanted to talk about. Still a good text though.
