A laugh out loud Cruise Ship Cozy Mystery by New York Times, USA TODAY, & Wall Street Journal bestseller Addison Moore.
An impending divorce. An ornery homicide detective. The cruise of a lifetime. And ghosts.Midlife on the high seas is proving to be a real killer. If I thought the first half of my life was a bumpy ride, I’d better buckle up because I’m about to go over the hill and off the rails.
My name is Trixie Troublefield, and I see ghosts. It’s sort of a new thing, and it’s more than a problem.
While I was busy running around doing some last minute packing for my tropical anniversary cruise, my husband was busy bedding three other women—at the same time. So I did what any other sane person would do—I grabbed my suitcase and took to the high seas, alone.
Here’s the thing. I’ve never been on a plane or a cruise ship. I’ve never left the state of Maine. I’ve never been on my own. I’ve never seen ghosts before either, but that seems to be on the universe’s agenda for me, too.
I’ve got eighteen days to recalibrate, rethink my life, recharge, and eat all the food I can get my hands on. And I might look into a poltergeist pest control service while I’m at it.
Of course I’ll start a travel blog and log all of my adventures for the world to see. Why not rub all the fun I’m having in my cheating ex-husband’s face? I’ll call it Suddenly Single! What a Trip.
But no sooner do I step on board of that stately cruise ship than I stumble upon a body.
Midlife on the high seas is proving to be a real killer.

Ms. Moore has written a fun new cozy mystery with a protagonist in her late 40's, a delightful cast of secondary/supporting characters, a touch of romance and a touch of the paranormal. I really liked Trixie and admired her strength and determination as she takes her first cruise alone (that was not the original plan but she did it). Ms. Moore's descriptions of the Hawaiian islands and the attractions made this so enjoyable as I almost got to go there last year so I was entranced by all of the information that she gave as Trixie and her friends traveled around the islands. The only thing that I wasn't crazy about was the romantic triangle which I'm never a fan of in books. All in all a lovely afternoon read and I will be looking forward to the next book in the series.
I thought this was going to be just kind of a casual book but as it went along you've got mystery you've got a little bit of a thriller, paranormal, and romance. and let's not forget they've got a lot of cakes on this trip!

Sigh.. overall, this actually wasn’t bad, but I’ve noticed a trend with the different series this author writes, she makes her MFC TSTL at the end, they actually KNOW they’re making bad decisions but go full tilt on and it’s really frustrating because it ruins the feel of the book. Hey author TAKE.NOTE. your readers are intelligent people, no need to dumb down your characters 🙄🙄😩
That was a lot of fun. The story reads as part travelogue and part cozy mystery, with a little bit of paranormal activity thrown in for fun. I kind of loved Trixie. Her life has just been turned upside down and she's been handed a whole basketful of lemons. What does she do? She decides she's not going to be a victim of circumstances and turns all those lemons into lemonade. (Liberally spiked with vodka, of course.) However, I can't quite decide how I feel about the many similarities between this and the Murder in The Mix series, including the family connections. That's not going to stop me from reading the next book, though. I'm here for the drama and I can't wait to see where else Trixie's adventures are going to take her. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
Trixie Troublefield is busy getting ready for a big anniversary cruise to Hawaii with her husband. When she goes home to pack for the trip, she’s shocked at what she finds. Her husband in bed with three women - at the same time! Trixie doesn’t want to hear any lame explanations. Instead, she takes her suitcase and goes on their anniversary cruise by herself.
It’s not the way she planned to celebrate her anniversary, but she does plan to make the best of things. Then, she finds a dead body and the trip is quite different than she had anticipated.
This is the first book in a fun cruise ship mystery series. I do enjoy mysteries that take place on a cruise ship. It's becoming my new favorite cozy setting.
I love how determined Trixie is to break away from her husband and enjoy life. No matter what obstacle he throws at her along the way, she doesn’t back down.
There are new romances on her horizon on the ship. Not to mention that she makes many good new friends (and a couple of enemies) along the way. There’s even a ship ghost involved in the merriment. The book is filled with humor and a good mystery, too. I will say that there is more romance than mystery. I usually enjoy stories with the mystery taking center stage, but I enjoyed this one. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Trixie decides to go on the cruise after finding her husband cheating on her. Trixie makes a few friends. She also gets hit on the head helping someone. Trixie also meets two very handsome men on the cruise. Things were going ok until she opens the luggage she finds outside her door.
That is just very small portion of what happens. There is so much more that will keep you reading. You will laugh out loud as some things said. These characters are refreshing and funny. I am really looking forward more of Trixie; she is a really interesting and fun character. I recommend reading this book, great book to disappear into.
Cruising Through Midlife was such a fun read. When Trixie’s life gets flipped upside down, of course she embarks on the trip of a lifetime. On her anniversary trip as a newly single woman with the last name Troublefield what could go wrong. I mean when you add in some boisterous older woman, a bottle of vodka, some handsome men, murder and ghosts, it’s bound to be a trio of a life time. Hands down made me chuckle out loud several times and read parts out loud to my husband. A great guessing game of who done it and reading about a woman who is taking control and pushing forward. Can’t wait to read the next one!
Cruising Through Midlife is the first book in the Cruise Ship Mystery Series by Addison Moore. I love the setting of the cruise ship and the protagonist, Trixie Troublefield is a fantastic character who I love and is so relatable. She's in her midlife, having a crisis and can see ghosts!
Not only that she stumbles upon a body on the cruise ship.
This was such a fun story, I laughed so much and really enjoyed the mystery!
Who killed Olivia Montauk and why??? And a ghost??? I have been on many cruises and never one like this!!! Trixie has a blog that really works, doesn’t she??? I really enjoyed this story and recommend the book.
This is a wonderful midlife tale! This FMC is truly living her best life. I feel that living well is the best revenge and she does this in spades! The supernatural sense that she has makes for a great story. I enjoyed this great middle finger to a horrible ex husband! I love a good mystery as well. As for me this is a Great Read!
I’m a sucker for cruise based anything. The side characters are the strong point of this. Some things are so fun and clever and some things are cringey bad but it was fun.
I enjoyed it but there were two things I was a bit disappointed with.
The mystery was not all that relevant to the story. As a mystery fan I had wanted more. I honestly think the book would have worked better without the mystery.
A lot of the book felt like it was setting up comedy without following through.
Trixie and Stanton are about to celebrate their twenty-fifth anniversary, but their planned tropical cruise to Hawaii takes an unexpected turn. Their college-age children, Parker and Abbey, have surprised them with a luxurious 18-night getaway on the Emerald Queen. However, Trixie’s world is shattered when she discovers Stanton's infidelity with not one, not two, but three (possibly more) women. In a whirlwind of emotions, Trixie decides to embark on the cruise solo, leaving Stanton desperately trying to win her back. Before boarding, Trixie swiftly forms a friendship with Bess Chatterley and Nettie Butterworth, the ship's eccentric regulars. Nettie bears some responsibility for Trixie’s accidental mishap, which may have led her to encounter ghosts and for Trixie crossing paths with the charming “Handsome Ransom” Courtland Baxter, a detective aboard the Emerald Queen and known as a notorious heartthrob.
Ready to begin a new journey of a lifetime, the cruise begins as anything but relaxing. Things take a darker turn when Trixie stumbles upon a familiar dead body in a most unusual place, making her the prime suspect in a murder investigation. With only 18 nights to unravel the mystery and clear her name, Trixie teams up with her newfound friends to interrogate, investigate, and snoop their way to the truth. Amidst the tropical paradise and tantalizing buffets, Trixie must navigate the choppy waters of betrayal, spectral sightings, and a race against time to ensure her dream vacation doesn’t become her last. The first installment of the Cruise Ship Cozy Mysteries, "Cruising Through Midlife" by Addison Moore, will have you hoisting your sails and setting course for a rollicking ride full of laughs, intrigue, and a delightful patchwork of characters. From the very first page, Trixie Troublefield had me buckled in and ready for adventure. Her tumultuous interactions with her soon-to-be ex, the notorious Stanton, had me cringing and cheering in equal measure, as she navigated the turbulent tides of betrayal with wit and tenacity. Addison Moore crafts a gleeful ensemble of characters, each adding a splash of color to this already vibrant tale. I found myself in a delightful dilemma, torn between the dashing “Handsome Ransom” Courtland Baxter and the enigmatic Captain Crawford, both smoldering with mystery and charm. The antics of Trixie, Nettie, and Bess were a pure joyride, leaving me eager to see what delightful chaos they would stir up next. Honestly, this book had me laughing so hard, my sides ached! The humor flowed as effortlessly as the ocean’s waves, making every chapter a giggle-filled escapade. The plot is a lively carousel of excitement, from the murder mystery that lies at its heart to the gradual revelation of the characters' backstories. Trixie’s newfound ability to see ghosts added an entertaining supernatural twist that kept me eagerly flipping pages. In the midst of the delightful disorder, there were moments of tranquility where Trixie paused to soak in her surroundings, and the author’s vivid imagery whisked me away to the opulent settings of the Emerald Queen and the breathtaking Hawaiian islands. With a lineup of quirky suspects and twists and turns aplenty, the suspense kept me on tenterhooks, eagerly joining Trixie in unraveling the mystery. The ending was a splendid surprise, leaving me dangling off a cliffhanger that screamed for the next installment. There was never a dull moment in this delightful read, and I savored every laugh, mystery, and ghostly giggle that accompanied Trixie on this memorable cruise. Midlife has never been more exhilarating, and I can hardly wait to see what capers await on the next voyage!

Trixie has been preparing for months for an 18 day 25th anniversary cruise, gifted by the couple's children. On the day they are to leave, she is able to grab an earlier spa appointment and arrives home to find her husband in bed with a woman. Things get even worse when two more naked bimbos stroll into the room. She grabs a large suitcase and heads off on her own to a cruise adventure.
Unfortunately, in her haste she has grabbed Stanton's suitcase and finds herself without even a change of clothes. Then when she wonders why her suitcase is so heavy, she opens it to find a dead body!
A ghost appears to help her find the killer and in spite of the dire situation, Trixie finds herself enchanted by life on the ship and the attentions of both the hot security man and the hot captain. She starts a travel blog which tells why she is on the ship and all the joys of the places she visits. She is amazed at the followers her blog has amassed. After the death of an artist who was to give classes on the ship, Trixie takes over the duty and her classes quickly become very popular.
When Stanton cancels her credit cards, Trixie is unable to pay for her cruise expenses and her stunning new wardrobe. One of her new friends gives her the name of a shark attorney, but in the meantime, a high ranking staff member on the ship has given her a new credit card. She assumes it was the captain.
When the cruise ends, to Trixie's shock she bumps into Stanton on the dock, who tells both Wes and Ransom that Trixie belongs to him. When she refuses to go home with him he announces that he will be joining the ship for it's next cruise to Hawaii.
Trixie Troublefield is certainly a survivor. Catching her husband Stanton enjoying three woman, at the same time, Trixie sees a new direction coming into her life. She grabbed her suitcase and went aboard a cruise ship on what would have been their anniversary cruise.
This is a totally new experience for Trixie, but all of the food and amenities should help her relax. However, she now can see ghosts! Where did that skill come from? Deciding to start a travel blog and record her adventures, especially if it will upset the cheating dirtball, she is ready to rediscover herself… until she identifies Olivia Montauk, an artist she knew of, who is now a dead body! Ransom Baxter is in charge of the investigation, but a ghost says she was assigned to help Trixie solve the murder, but she needs to go to lunch first. And somehow, telling Trixie that she should start investigating now or she will be going to prison, it appears the ghost may not be very helpful after all.
This is a fun story line and we get to meet many new characters along the way. Will Trixie continue with the investigation and find the murderer?
Like another reviewer, I wonder about the whole ghost thing. She really is not necessary to the story. And why, if the two old ladies can hear the ghost while holding on to M. Troublefield's arm, didn't the murderers hear her? The logistics of the story also bothered me. Leaving the ship at 6:45 a.m., taking a dingy ashore and driving for 20 minutes or so then walking through the forest to the beach; wouldn't the sun already be up? And sitting on a beach on the west side of an island would make it tough to watch a sunrise over the horizon, seeing as how the sun rises in the east. At least I assume it does so in Maui, so they would have had to be facing the trees with their backs to the ocean to see the sun rise. And it seems that 25 years of marriage meant very little to the mrs., seeing as she fell for two different, other men within an 18 day period after leaving her hub at home. I felt no sympathy. The whole thing could have taken place at a summer camp for teenagers, with teens in the leading roles. Won't be wasting my time on any more of thiscseries.
This new cozy mystery series by Addison Moore is fantastic!! Trixie is a middle aged woman who has lived a pretty cozy life married to her husband for 25 years. Their grown children have booked them an 18 day cruise for their anniversary. This would have been great if Trixie hadn't walked into their bedroom to find her husband with 3 other women!! Despite being devastated she decides to go on the cruise without her cheating husband and vows to enjoy every minute of it. She meets some fun loving older ladies and quickly becomes friends with them. She also meets a handsome head of security. Lucky for her because she's going to need him on her side when she finds a BODY IN HER LUGGAGE! I enjoyed this book so much. I love how the characters are intertwined with the ones from Murder in the Mix. I hope I can look forward to a crossover someday but for now I can't wait to read the next book in this new series!
The joys of celebrating 25 years of marriage...all came to a screeching halt when Trixie Troublefield entered a 3-ring circus in her bedroom, with her clown of a husband as the ringleader. So what's a woman to do? Why set sail on her 18 day anniversary cruise solo of course! A luggage mix-up and a knock to the noggin start off this grand adventure for Trixie, but a few new friends and an unlimited feeding frenzy quickly improve her mindset. When a further luggage snafu lands a body before her, Trixie has to put her thinking cap on to solve a murder. She receives some spectral help to uncover a killer, and also receives the attention of the two most handsome men (and eligible bachelors 😉) on the ship. With a newfound love for blogging, and an artist's eye, will Trixie catch a killer, or will her nosey investigating lead to her demise, much like her marriage? Read on to relish in this new series by the always amazing Addison Moore.
I loved this new series from Addison Moore. I thought it was great to read about Trixie's jaunts on the ship... and especially about Ransom Baxter who just happens to be cousins with Everett from the Murder in the Mix. And Addison was able to tie in both towns from other book series. I did think it ironic that everyone she meets just happens to be from either Vermont or Maine lol... all on the same ship to Hawaii!
Regardless Trixie has suddenly found herself single... and on an 18 day cruise to Hawaii alone. But not to worry, she makes fast friends with people... including a ghost that she is now able to see after a bump on the head. She is embroiled into a murder mystery when the body of a guest ends up in her suitcase!
After catching her husband with his hand in the cheater's cookie jar, Trixie Troublefield decides to go on a cruise. It would have been their anniversary trip, but she decides to strike out on her own, see what new opportunities life has waiting for her. While on her trip, she writes a blog, chronicling her adventures. Everything is going well until a body falls, one she later discovers is an artist she knew of. Ransom Baxter is the man in charge of investigating the death. However, after an unlikely source tells Trixie she must investigate the crime or risk going to jail, she dips her toes into the mystery to find the one responsible.
This is a great story with fun and interesting characters. I look forward to seeing what happens with Trixie next. Well done to the author!
Addison has done it again. This may be book one in the series but so far I am really enjoying it. While it is a bit like the Murder in the Mix series it still seems to be a great start to this series; Going to keep reading these to see how they go. I am hoping it won't be too close to the other series but we shall see.
In this book, we meet Trixie and start to discover a lot about her life. She is getting ready for an anniversary cruise with her husband when she discovers he is cheating on her with not one but three women. So with this new discovery, she decides to go on the cruise by herself and write a travel blog along the way.
That is just a little taste of the book. I did enjoy it and can not wait to read the next in the series. .

Our heroine is trying to recharge after discovering her husband was having an affair, but finding a dead body on the cruise is not exactly what she had in mind. Particularly when the ghost of the deceased speaks to her.
This is book one of the series, so a find place to start.
This is a cozy mystery with a dose of the paranormal thrown in for good measure. The story is well written and easy to read with a wonderful heroine who is just trying to find her bearings but instead finds quite a bit more than she bargained for. Setting the mystery on a cruise ship provides a fun setting to explore as well. The mystery was a good one and everything moved at a nice pace providing a very enjoyable experience. Overall, a fun story and I look forward to visiting our heroine again.
Highly recommended.

I haven't previously read any of Addison Moore's books, but if Cruising Through Midlife: Cruise Ship Cozy Mysteries is any indication of her writing talent, you can be sure it won't be the last one I read! This was laugh-out-loud funny from the get-go and I couldn't put it down. Trixie Troublefield finds her husband Stanton involved in an orgy on the day they were to leave for their 25th anniversary cruise. She storms out alone to go on the cruise without Stanton. Trixie and her new sidekicks, Bess and Nettie take the Emerald Queen of the Seas by storm and her 18 day cruise is filled with murder, mayhem, a ghost, and romance . Trixie creates a blog detailing her "solo" cruise and all her adventures, gathering a following of thousands of sympathetic women who had cheating ex's. You won't stop grinning so don't wait, grab your copy now!
It took me quite a while to get into this one. I just thought there was too much setup, though the reason that might have been was because I have read similar plots like that before. It just seemed to go on forever when I wanted it to get to the ghosts and the mystery more. There was just lots of other stuff especially with exploring the islands and the love triangle, which wasn’t a bad thing, but wasn’t what I was wanting.
Once the meat and potatoes of the ghost and mystery became the focus, it got so much better. I was more engaged and invested. I was entertained with all that was happening with all the aspects of the story. I was here for how she solved the mystery. It was really good. The second half made up for the first half by miles.

This was a great read...comedy, mystery and romance.
Trixie Troublefield is ready to go on a Hawaian cruise with her husband for their 25th anniversary...a present from their two adult children. But she comes home to find her husband, Stanton in the middle of an orgy, more or less. So Trixie decides to dump him and go on the cruise alone.
She discovers in the hotel room the night before the cruise that she grabbed the wrong suitcase...she has her husband's clothes, not hers. Then the next day as she embarks and goes to her room, she opens it only to find a dead woman's body inside...and so the adventure begins.
Follow Trixie through her adventures along with a ghost that helps her locate who the murderer is, and Trixie finds herself and becomes the strong woman she used to be before her domineering husband took over her life.
Okay, you can't have the word "midlife" in the title of a book about a woman who just had a 25-year marriage anniversary, then have a confusing 20-year-old on the cover of it?!? She literally looks like Taylor Swift.
Yes, she was married to a plastic surgeon, but, surgery ain't magic. At the very least, this woman has kids in college and has to be early forties, okay? Please fix it. it's buggin'.
Also, who walks in on their husband having an orgy and assumes it's the first time he's done it? Girl, please. That's like assuming someone you,ve just caught doing heroine is trying drugs for the first time. Nope, he's gross and you need to get an STD check, stat.
Ladies, never EVER stay home with the kids. You. Need. Income. If it's not an option, secret squirrel away a backup plan for yourself and your kids.
Trixie is to go on a cruise to celebrate their 25th anniversary, but instead she finds her husband with a number of women. Now on the cruise by herself, she starts to see ghosts, makes a few super close friends that are the highlight of the cruise, and two men who vie for her attention. The characters are terrific, and the author makes them feel like your friends. The storyline was well written with drama, danger, surprises, intense feelings, figuring out murderers and much more. So much going on that you can not put the book down. Loved it all and especially the ending. Visited Hawaii back in 1978 and the details of the locales were memorable. . We all know ficition isn't real life. This tale tests the waters on this for actual cruisers. Why do people write books about a cruise and never bother to take one?
I'd love to be on this cruise as a middle aged woman and have all the gorgeous guys chasing me and all the sweet staff wanting to be my best friend. All I'd have to do in the meantime is solve a little old mystery. ( I knew the culprit in the beginning because some large clues were thrown.)
Since this is a mystery as opposed to a romance, it would have worked better as a romance IMHO. Ran a little long in some places, but that was because I still regarded it as a mystery as opposed to a romance.
I loved this book so much! Squee!!!! It's so awesome!! I've started her other series [Murder in the Mix] and I really wanted to start this one as I'm all about cruise ship mysteries right now and it was so good.
Trixie is set to go on a cruise to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary - when she catches her husband in bed with three other women!!! What's a woman to do? Well go on a cruise, meet awesome friends, find a dead body, have an awesome time, and maybe kiss a man or two!!
It was so good, and it was even better because there are crossover characters from her other series. I loved that so much!!! Exactly what I was in the mood for and I will definitely be reading book 2 right away!!!!!!
