If the truth is to be told, this book doesn’t fall into my usual reads.
The book was handed to me by a relative as a general interest kind of read, as something she thought I might enjoy. It was interesting, I will say that, but I cannot see myself going out of my way to read it again and again or to read that many more books like it.
It was simply something different to pick up and read.
This book contained interesting short summaries about myths and folklore (not quite as sensational as the title would suggest) around the world. Accompanied by great pictures/illustrations too.
I found the book to be a bit slow in places - I skipped a fair chunk of the section on witchcraft for example. I liked the idea of a page or two per place so that it doesnt get bogged down but some of the entries equated to "Look! A creepy castle on a hill i bet they hear phanton footsteps and wailing from behind the walls!"
It makes a good starting point for a collection of paranormal books and would let someone new to the genre decide what aspects they wanted to pursue reading about further.
