How do you heal after everything has been ripped away from you?
Completely devastated and alone, Tristen cannot fathom life after losing Cami and his unborn child. He attempts to find normality in his broken world but everything seems wrong.
Aria is compelled to help Tristen and cannot escape the undeniable connection she feels for him, even though Cami was one of her closest friends. She tries to help him move forward by befriending him but quickly realizes that there is more.
Tristen and Aria are both struggling to deal with these confusing emotions. Can they find happiness even when they feel utterly broken?
Texas born and raised, I found my love for dirty books rather recently. I work in real estate for my normal job and I write contemporary romance. I plan on having Sinfully be the first of three in its series. I would like to do a standalone after, but we’ll see! I love sweet tea (made right!), cookie cake, and anything with chocolate and peanut butter. I have a few guys at my gym that are my TDF’s (tall, dark, and fuckable) but also have a HSB (Hot Sauna Boy), because let’s be honest, they’re my motivation while I’m there! I go to Las Vegas often but I swear I don’t have as much fun as Payton does. Although, if I found myself a Tate there, I might change my opinion! Authors such as Katy Evans, SE Hall, Angela Graham, Jasinda Wilder, and Jillian Dodd have been a large influence on me and I’m forever grateful. I decided to write Sinfully on Black Friday in November 2013, on a whim. I thought I’d get bored after a few pages but was captivated by the characters and it developed into something I am truly proud of. When it comes to book boyfriends, I love those who are strong but with a little imperfection or tragedy in their past (Remy, Kellan, Q, Twitch are just a few of my favorites). I LOVE talking to my readers so feel free to message me on Facebook. <3
“Sometimes in the waves of change, we find our true direction.” (loved this quote) I love the characters of this story they are real down to earth, relatable, have huge hearts and have real issues that are dealt with in a very real manner. Ryder, Cami and Tristan were inseparable, lived to surf and loved to surf. They were the best of friends. Tristan and Cami had an amazing connection that was more than just friendship but before they could announce it to the world, a tragedy happened that rocked their world. After Cami went missing, Tristan just couldn’t pull himself back together. Not only was he mourning the loss of a friend, but also of his true love and unborn child. The hardest part of his time of grief was not being able to share all of his emotions, and the total depth of his loss with anyone else since their connection (Tristan and Cami) was a secret prior to her death. Aria came into the picture during the memorial service for Cami. Aria was an old friend of Cami’s they had been close friends. Aria introduced herself to Tristan, even though he wasn’t looking for someone to talk to, he found it in Aria. They became a sounding board for each other on tough days. It was a nice relationship, but even friendships can have bumps in the roads and blurred lines at times. I loved having more of Ryder and Payton in the story. I always enjoy reading books that share characters where their lives intertwine. This book was an amazing read; it had some pretty heavy material in regards to loss and grief. Examples how all people deal with grief in their own way, but with a message that holding al the grief in and not sharing it only gets you in a worse place in the end. It can pull you down, isolate you and change the person that you are. Tristan and Aria both learned this lesson the hard way. This book took me for a ride and I was hooked from the first chapter. I had many times in the book that Leighton Riley managed to truly shock me with the turns of the story. I wish that I could give this book more than 5 Stars because it definitely has earned it. I hope there will be more to come with this group of friends/family in the future, because I am not ready to be done with them.
Sheepers creepers I could just drown in this man's eyes ! They're soulful and capture Tristan spot on !
Now for the difficult part ..... I'm not sure my review will do Cami and Tristan justice .
Tristan not only lost his soul mate but his unborn child ! The first few pages had me sobbing and Kleenex mountain piling up! My heart just shatters for this man and the heartache he's going through and has gone through.
On the day of Cami's memorial hes on the beach and bumps into an old childhood friend Aria .
Aria says something that sets off the waterworks again " Funerals and memorials terrify me. I pay my respects in my own way ..." They share stories and memories of Cami . Despite the fact that Aria , herself is hurting she reaches out to Tristan. Having had a tough life herself , I can't help but think they'll be a healing balm to one another .
I must be honest at times I lost the plot BUT this is not a bad thing. I got so absorbed in the actual pain of loss and grief and how we deal with it that I almost forgot about the charcaters . Regretfully was more to me than just Tristan , Cami , Aida , Ryder and Payton.
Honestly I did truly enjoy this book , I was swept away by the emotions of Tristen and the way he made me feel , I was tormented by him , his pain was so real and raw I couldn't help but curl up in my recliner and cry while I read about his life with Cami and his life now without her and their unborn child. WOW it was heartbreaking. I fell in love with Tristen during his brief part in SInfully because of his emotion. I could not wait to get his story though I knew it would be heartbreaking I wanted to know about him and Cami so badly. Tristen really is a lost soul trying to climb his way out of the darkness. He really doesn't have anyone to be there for him until now and his new friend may just have the answer to all his prayers !!
This book brings us on Tristen's journey after Cami's funeral. The bits and pieces we get from their past are just so full of love and HOTNESS that I really hated the fact that she was gone. They had such a great relationship and although it was a secret the amount of love they shared was so evident in their actions everyone had to have known they were one !! I enjoyed reading about their past but damn it was heartbreaking and believe me you felt the pain. Tristen is trying to get on with life but he lost everything that day. His best friend , the love of his life , his unborn child and his future. He meets Aria at the funeral , she was a friend of Cami's. They have a special connection and they become fast friends. There is a little spark between them and although you want Tristen to move on for some reason I just cannot push him to do it !! I love Aria , she has her own struggles. Her relationship with Sutter seems a little stale. Maybe safe and easy but if it was true love she would never be feeling these things for Tristen. I mean he is gorgeous and all male but if she was really in love with Sutter that wouldn't matter to her. Tristen and Aria struggle for months keeping their friendship at the right place but when things come to a head their friendship suffers. Aria also suffers a loss with Sutter and her life is just a mess. There are a few things here and there that kind of made you wonder but DAMN this twist was so unexpected , WOW I was shocked and just WOW-
The story shifts here and without spoilers I can only say that some of the heartache fades and we get lots of happy times !! A glimpse into Ryder and Payton's lives , their new journey to becoming parents and their marriage !! Tate comes around and we get some of his yumminess !! This could have been a 5 star easily but here is where my issue is , I was totally wrapped up in the twist I didn't really even realize that Aria just kind of disappears and the comes back at such an odd time with a horrible problem , not really sure where that is going if anywhere and then I kind of realized I don't really know why she had such a big part in the story to begin with ?? Will there be more for her ? The lead in for the next book is great I am looking forward to that. I just kind of feel like Tristen's HEA fell a little short , ending abruptly and I am hoping there is a bit more about Tristen in book 3 ?? I will say this book got me , grabbed me , tortured me and I will not forget it anytime soon !!
Wow, I only reserve one stars for books I couldn't finish. I DID finish this because there was a plot and I was wondering where this was going, but I was honestly, VERY worked up by the time I finished this novel, and not in a good way.
Admittedly, I didn't read book one. However, this is supposedly a stand alone, so I figured it wouldn't be bad not to. That isn't my problem. My problem is I found the synopsis and what ends up going on in the novel itself are COMPLETELY misleading.
I am trying not to give away anything here as I don't wish to spoil it for those who wish to read it, but honestly, I felt like the first half the book was only a set up for the next book in the series where more will happen to Aria (IF that's what will happen). The second half I felt no one even remembered, or felt anything for all Aria had tried to do for anyone.
I was very worked up and upset I even bothered finishing the book.
On positive notes - that kept me reading the book - was that there was a plot, the writing was well-done, and you keep hoping it is NOT going to end like you think it's going to.
So I'm sorry to say, 2 stars. I doubt I'll bother with book one or three in this series.
3.5 stars I have a totally different take on this since I read it before reading Sinfully (book #1...which I suggest your read first even though this could technically be a standalone) and I will re-review after I've read the first. The beginning was rough for me, possibly because I haven't read Sinfully, but it kept revisiting the same thing over and over. A little too repetitive for me. Once I got through that, it was great. Sweet, a little angsty, and sexy. Highs and lows. I ended up loving Tristen and Cami's story.
I received an early Beta copy of this and WOW!! I suppose you can read this as a stand alone, but I strongly suggest reading Sinfully first only because Sinfully is so good and you will relate even more with these characters. I'm definitely buying this paperback once it's available
For me to get emotional and cry in a book, that instantly puts the rating at a five. The author had me broken hearted, shocked and dancing with joy at different times in this book. She tugged at my heart strings and played with my emotions and I have to admit I loved every moment of it. I understand there is a book prior to this one and was told Regretfully could be read as a standalone and they were correct. I wasn’t lost or felt like I was missing information at all. I will say after experiencing the author’s style, I imagine reading the first book will only enhance this whole cast of characters and their stories. We start here with Tristen who has lost his reason to live. Cami his lover, mother to his unborn child and best friend has died. Without a reason to go on, the depression began to overtake him. He meets Cami’s friend Aria and he is constantly reminded of his woman. Cami and Aria share a lot of the same behaviors and traits and by keeping a friendship with Aria he can hang on to the memories and feelings he had with Cami. I think Tristen felt misunderstood most of the time. Tristen had to suffer his loss alone. For reasons you will find out in the book, he couldn’t go the common healing route, he had to find his own way. When he and Aria became closer I was hopeful that this could be a second chance for him, yet I was torn because I knew he was still in love with Cami and I hated to see him risk trying to replace her before he was really ready. Aria had some issues as well. I won’t go into them as you will find out when you read the book but I liked her. Yes I liked her but I LOVED Tristen and felt such an over protective emotion in me regarding him. Later in the book Aria gave Tristen a gift he will be forever grateful for. I won’t go farther because that moment needs to be experienced by the reader not in a review. I will say it was beautiful and answered so many of his questions and I was happy that he was able to let go of the regrets and sadness he had carried for nineteen months. Over all I really loved all of the characters development, don’t confuse that with I liked all of them, but the author did a wonderful job painting a picture of each of them for the reader. It felt like you could almost pick them out of a crowd by the way we were allowed to get to know them. The author gets major credit for making me a blubbering idiot multiple times while reading. The plot is not one I feel that will be easily predictable. Yes sometimes the writing was on the wall and we knew what was going to happen in some places but there were a few WOW DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING moments and I treasure that in a book. I would certainly say that this author is going on my watch list and I will be going back to grab book one ASAP while stalking her for her next book. The writing style was fresh and her steamy scenes could burn down the house because they were packed with intense emotions and she made them mean something. I could go on about this book and author but I strongly suggest you go on that journey yourself. Grab the tissues and settle in to be drawn into a story you won’t soon forget.
After enjoying Sinfully, I knew what my reaction would be after reading Leighton Riley's next installment, Regretfully. Thank goodness I wasn't wrong! Regretfully happens almost at the same time as Sinfully, so they can be read separately although you'll enjoy this volume more if you already have the backstory of the first. Tristen was someone I really felt sorry for; he lost everyone he cared for in a day. His girl, his child, his best friend, they were all swept away by a cruel ocean wave. What else did he have to live for? While he was trying to get his life back to normal, the grief still crippled him from time to time. He was afraid he'd never know if the day would be normal. In the midst of all this, he meets Cami's friend Aria. Although they don't look alike, they exude the same vibe and are quite similar in their thoughts and actions. Creepy as it may sound, Tristen wants to get close to her, simply because she reminds him of his lost Cami and she helps him keep Cami's memory alive while adding new ones of a side of her he never knew. Aria's finding Tristen hard to refuse, even if she's currently involved with someone else! Not that Tristen instigates anything, but she feels an attraction to him that she's desperately trying to bury. Why would she be so attracted to a man she can't have while in a relationship with someone who cares for her deeply? There would be too many spoilers if I get more detailed with the storyline so I'm leaving it at that right here. I will say that a surprise character shows up in the middle of all the drama and suddenly everything becomes right. Who it is and why, you need to read this book to find out. I loved the way this was laid out; while I thought what happened could happen, it seemed a little farfetched but the explanations are plausible enough for me to believe them. And the developments afterward are worth all the anguish in book 1. Beautifully done. Though the ending of Regretfully isn't a cliffhanger, in a way it's not clean. Tate definitely has some issues, as Aria, who needs to sort some more things out. And Chloe! I'm looking forward to Leighton Riley's next installment as I hope the problems are all taken care of there. Although I wouldn't mind a book 4 and 5 after that. Just saying.
*provided with a free copy in exchange for a fair and honest review. * Stop what you're doing. Go one click Regretfully right now. It's a damn good book and definitely worth your time. I'm kind of a harsh reader. I'm extremely picky and have a hard time finishing a book if I don't like it. With regretfully by Leighton Riley I was sucked in instantly. There was no need to force myself to read it. There wasn't a 'ugh when is this going to be over' moment. The entire book was compelling and kept me interest the whole time. I'm not sure that I could even start to describe what happens in this book without getting carried away and giving out spoilers so instead I'll just rave about the wonderful things I loved about it, starting with the characters. Can I just say I adore the way Leighton Riley developed them? They seemed real and were relatable even though the situations the characters were going through wasn't something I had experienced. Tristen happened to be my absolute favorite. Instead of there being this unrealistically perfect male lead there was tristen. Someone I could imagine in my real life and coincidentally reminded me of someone I knew. All the sweetness and the sexiness mixed together made for an unforgettable book boyfriend. He was just perfect and definitely one of my favorite things about the book. And oddly enough another one of my favorite characters was the 'bad guy' Zander. It wasn't because I liked him it had everything to do with the way she developed him. He was this guy you didn't think would be as bad a she was. It was interesting to see how it unfolded between him and Cami. I was thoroughly impressed by all of the characters. But to be completely honest the characters could have been mediocre and I still would have enjoyed the book because of the plot. It's not one I had read before which was entirely refreshing. The themes, the situations involving each individual character, we're so unique I couldn't help but want to read more. The only thing I would have liked to change would be the amount that the character aria was in it. I absolutely loved her and really wanted to read more about her in this particular story. Overall this book was fantastic and one to remember.
I loved this book! Ok so wow! What an emotional roller coaster with a side of sexy! After reading book one in this series, I was excited for Tristen's story and let me tell you.... it did not disappoint. This book will pull at your heartstrings and has a way of making you fell the emotions as it pours off of the page. You will smile. You will CRY (have tissues handy)! You will get angry. You will laugh. You will feel this book in your heart. And this book also has a few curveballs that will keep you guessing! And that twist... totally unexpected! I love that this book surprised me! And wow!
This is Tristen's story. After losing the love of his life and his unborn child, Tristen is a shell of the man he used to be before he lost Cami. Finding it difficult to move on, he has enclosed his heart and because he can't seem to move on and feel again. While he has dated, no one has made him feel or really sparked his interest. But fate has other plans for Tristen. As he learns to navigate life and move on, secrets will be revealed. Tristen is about to have major curveballs thrown at his life that will have him questioning everything.
I am going to stop there because I do not want to spoil this book! Will Tristen be able to move on? Will he be able to open his heart again to love? When secrets are revealed, will he be able to withstand the storm? Will he be able to find a happy ending or will he live a life full of regret?
I loved Tristen. I fell in love with him in book one and this book just reaffirmed why I loved him. And holy God, he made me cry, like boo hoo cry. He pulled at my heart so much. I swear I could feel his pain as he was learning to cope. I loved seeing him open up again and find himself again. Tristen's story will make you believe that we have soul mates and that things happen in life for a reason. It makes you believe that sometimes
Having read Sinfully, (which I recommend reading first) I was anxious about Tristen’s story. As I read, I could feel the anguish he was going through and felt. He lost the woman that he loves and on top of that the loss of his unborn child. His world has been turned on its axis. But when a friend of Cami’s is introduced to his life, he begins to come out of his darkness. Aria is a sweet funny girl and both she and Tristen feel this pull for one another. But it’s for different reasons. I felt that Tristen was using Aria as a crutch and it wasn’t fair of him. And Aria accepted this because she wanted a little more from Tristen. Both characters have their history and demons to battle.
Regretfully is book 2 of the Sinfully Series but can be read as a standalone. Characters from Sinfully come over into Regretfully, but to fully understand the relationship of them, read book one. There are many twists and turns in this book. A lot of story changing. I felt as though the author tried to tie everyone’s story in one book. And the 2nd half of the book, in my opinion, didn’t quite fit. There was a lot going on, weddings, babies, even an ER visit. I understand that life can be hectic and the author may have wanted it to be ‘real’ but to be honest, it stressed me out. I read to get away from my crazy life and I began to feel overwhelmed while reading. I really enjoyed Sinfully and don’t remember this much going on. I have met Leighton Riley at signings and she’s such a sweetheart. But when it came to book 2 I didn’t hate it or love it. Just was a neutral fit for me. This book may appeal to readers that enjoy the plot twists with a side of flashback sex scenes. As the book ended, I am assuming Aria’s story is next. I hope her story will sit better with me. 3.5 smooches for Regretfully by Leighton Riley. ~Sarah
“Sometimes in the waves of change, we find our true direction”.
I have been looking forward to reading Tristen's story since I read Sinfully and it didn't disappoint.
Regretfully partially overlaps the timeline of Sinfully and continues beyond it. As the story opens, Tristen is still struggling to handle his grief alone; Ryder is not yet aware that he and Cami were in a relationship or that Cami was pregnant when she died. Her friend Aria finds Tristen sitting on the beach after Cami's memorial service and introduces herself as they only knew of each other but had never met in person. Aria has suffered a painful loss in her past so she understands what he is experiencing and offers a friendly ear should he ever need it.
Slowly Tristen tries to drag himself out of the pain and depression and agrees to start attending events with friends and eventually attempting to date again. But each time he is overwhelmed with grief and the feeling that moving on is just wrong.
Eventually we realize that the circumstances of Cami's death are not what everyone was led to believe; I had a suspicion based on the information provided in Sinfully that was confirmed about halfway through Regretfully and completely changed the tone/ direction of the story. But that is all I will say on the subject- if you want to know more you need to go grab yourself a copy! For those of you who have read Sinfully, we see more Payton, Ryder, Chloe and even Tate as Payton and Ryder prepare for 2 big events in their lives. You don't need to read Sinfully to enjoy Regretfully though, and I honestly enjoyed Regretfully so much more than Sinfully. Regretfully was a very emotional journey and I was glad to see Tristen find his HEA.
Tristen can't seem to catch a break. The love of his life has been lost at sea and presumed dead, along with their unborn child. And, because Tristen and Cami have chosen to keep their love a secret -- especially from Cami's brother and Tristen's best friend -- Tristen can't share his grief. At least so he believes. Tristen ends up confiding in Cami's friend Aria and a relationship begins brewing. But then complications arise (don't they always?) and Tristen's world is shaken to its core... again.
From the way the prologue to the book was written, it made me suspect that this was a book in a series. Hunting for it on Amazon proved that theory to be correct. However, it can be read as a stand-alone. I've not read the other book and was able to enjoy Regretfully on its own. There were a couple of places that I got confused, due to the flashback nature of many parts of the book. But, as I continued to read, those parts became more poignant and less confusing. I felt so much emotion reading Tristen's description of his love for Cami, and it's a description that I'm sure many women wish their partners felt for them.
The sex scenes are H-A-W-T! They are also plentiful enough and explicit enough that I feel compelled to mark this with a "For Mature Readers Only" label. The relationship between Tristen and Cami is also well fleshed-out and left me yearning for a happily ever after I wasn't sure was possible, but I kept hoping, anyway.
I now want to read Riley's other novel with the same characters and see another side to the story. Well done!
I was blown away by Sinfully and thought there was noway to follow up such ans amazing story, then Leighton gives us Regretfully and I was BLOWN AWAY! We read lots of books about fate and the things she does to shake up our lives and get us to the person we are meant to be with, or the right path to choose. This book is that type of shake you up and make you see that FATE is truly the ruler of our lives!!! Tristen has to face a life that filled with sorrow for the love that he has lost. Cami his sole mate has been ripped from him and he can't seem to move on. Although he has friends that try he just can't seem to want to move on from the memory of the woman that he fell so completely in love with. Living with the fact that was not truthful to his best friend and Cami's twin, not only hiding their relationship but a secret that he hasn't been able to share with his best friend. How can he rip his heart out again? Just remembering what he lost is painful enough to him. But Fate, Remember that fickle lady that will not have her plans destroyed, yeah she give Tristen's life a bug twist and shake up that will have him treasuring life even more. I am not one to give to many details in my reviews because I feel that we should read them and have our true emotions as we do. However I will tell you that you will have the biggest of twists in this story that will have you crying not in sorrow for Tristen but in happiness. This book does not end in a cliffer but it doesn't seem as Leighton has finished with this group of characters yet, at least I hope not! I can't wait!!!
I absolutely love tristan. His story is remarkable, and how the prologue started, broke my heart. He is such a good man, and how he feels pulls at your heart. The loss of his love and how drastically taken from him was so gripping, you can't pull yourself away. It is such a heartbreaking story and told with such depth that I wanted to just hold tristan and tell hi it would be ok. Aria was such a good friend, but that something more was there with tristan. She has had a tough life, and her past being revealed and why is such a tremendous ordeal, that leads her to want to help tristan, but I think it helped her in some way also. Kindness and love is what you find when you start reading about tristan and aria. You learn about cami also. Tristans love his life. She is such a vulnerable character that you have to love her. The love that tristan and cami have, had, is undying. You see how much there relationship had been a great love. All the secrets, the constant love, regrets, and how they rely on each other, makes me want have that love story. I struggled at the end only because it left so many questions about all the people in this story that I felt left out on the rest of their stories. I'm hoping all of these stories are able to completed in another book.
I really liked this book and how the author wrote it, and I hope to read more from this author. Sent from my NOOK
4.5 stars. This is an amazing story full of angst and anguish. It was so easy to identify and connect with the characters. The story is believable and real for the most part. Poor Tristen lost everything in one day. He lost the love of his life, who just happened to be pregnant with his child, his love of surfing and thus his job, and his best friend that just happened to be Cami's(his loves) brother. Since they had never came out in the open about their relationship he didn't have anyone to talk to who would understand. Then he meets Aria, who was a close friend of Cami's. There was an instant connection between them but Tristen is not and may never be ready to take that kind of step. But they become friends and she is the only person he feels comfortable talking about Cami with. Aria feels the connection to but she is in a serious relationship with someone who she loves(maybe). Can they manage to be friends, will they take the next step or will Trisen lose someone else? I would recommend this book! This is the second in the series and I would recommend reading sinfully first but this could be read as a stand alone. This book overlaps in time with the first. I was a little confused as to why this book started where it did and felt it would have been better in the series of events.
Sheepers creepers I could just drown in this man's eyes ! They're soulful and capture Tristan spot on !
Now for the difficult part ..... I'm not sure my review will do Cami and Tristan justice .

I must be honest at times I lost the plot BUT this is not a bad thing. I got so absorbed in the actual pain of loss and grief and how we deal with it that I almost forgot about the charcaters . Regretfully was more to me than just Tristan , Cami , Aida , Ryder and Payton.
I will be honest. I kept getting confused in this book. I should have gone back and reread Sinfully but this was still a good book. This is a hard review to write and not give anything away, but I know I would have to read a spoiler about this book!
This is the story of Tristen. He looses Cami, Ryder's twin sister, and is all alone. We get to learn about his struggles and heartbreak. He has a tough time trying to move on after loosing Cami.
Aria was Cami's friend. A friend that Tristen had not met, which seemed odd to me, but, it what it is. Aria knows what Tristen is going through but at the same time, she feels a connections with him. She just wants to be his friend and help him through this tough time but begins to realize this connection is strong.
There are so many twists and turns in this book. I never saw a few of them coming. Leighton Riley does a fantastic job in this book! I'm excited for book three.
I was really looking forward to this book. Tristen lost the love of his life, actually he lost 2 loves of his life, Cami and the ocean. Cami her twin brother Ryder, and Tristen were all surfers. Until one fatal day. Now Tristen fights everyday to survive. Aria becomes the one person to whom he can open up to about his and Cami's relationship. While Aria is in a relationship she stills comes to have feelings for Tristen. I really thought this book would go a different way than it did. There is a TOTAL SHOCKER in this book. And unfortunately Aria is soon forgotten. That is why this book received a 3.5 star rating. I know I have read books where I wanted it to go a certain way but not this one. I really felt that Aria was in the book but then it is like her story just disappears. I really can't say much more because it will give the whole story away. I enjoy the others writing but was let down with the story line.
Left alone after the death of his best friend, lover and mother of his unborn child, this is a deeply emotional book dealing with Tristen’s attempts to get his life back on track after his enormous loss.
Fighting triggers daily about his past with Cami, Tristen struggles to find someone who understands until he meets Aria, one of Cami’s old friends that he had never met before her funeral. Aria understands Tristen’s loss but mainly because she has gone through hell in her past as well.
Beneath the understanding though, sexual chemistry reigns between the two even though Tristen can’t forget Cami and Aria lives with her boyfriend Sutter.
This book was well written with a really nice flow between the past and present and even though it deals with a lot of tragedy, it was a really enjoyable book!
I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Diana.
Sometimes it is hard to move along especially when it is sudden.
Tristen thought he had everything a woman he loved and was planning to marry and she was carrying his child. They kept their relationship quiet from their parents and her twin brother Ryan a secret. So it remained a secret that Cami was pregnant and that he could not tell anyone which further his depression.
At her funeral, he meets Aria an old friend of Cami who looks somewhat like her. They begin a friendship that is on and off since she has a live in boyfriend Sutter who is a bit jealous. Each is attracted to each other but know they should stay just as friends.
Can Tristen learn to move on with the aid of Aria as his world falls apart? Will she be a staple in his life or is she a fleeting moment when an unexpected surprise turns up later
I received a copy of Regretfully from the author for an honest review... Regretfully is the second book in the Sinfully series, but it also written to stand a lone. It can but it also enhances the story more if the first book, Sinfully, is read. After losing his girlfriend in a tragic accident that also cost him his unborn child, Tristen feels that his life has no meaning. He used to love to hit the beach of San Diego and surf, but as Cami was lost to him in the ocean, he no longer can find solace in the waves. Aria was Cami's best friend and finds herself drawn to Tristen. She wants him, but Tristen is unable to notice any woman for he has lost his soul mate. I absolutely loved this book. The tragic accident that changed Tristen's life made me feel for him. After the first few chapters, I thought I knew where this book was going to go, but it took a turn that I was not expecting.
Regretfully took a completely different turn than what I thought it was going to be and for me it wasn't a completely positive one. I cannot go into full details because I don't want to ruin the book for anyone.
I actually enjoyed the book until I got to the end and it kind of ruined it for me. There was a certain character that was just dropped from the second half of the book only to return at the end completely ruined.
We know that Tristan lost the love of his life and has struggled to move on from it and those are real feelings and I get that but how do you connect with someone and then just forget all about them?
I personally think that she could use better beta readers to steer her in the right direction.
Leighton hit it out of the park with Regretfully!!!! It was heartbreaking and lifted you up all at once! TOTALLY taken of guard with the events the story which I will leave out due to spoilers!!! I am say that Tristen and Aria are phenomenal characters and there is so much depth to their personalities I enjoyed getting to know them and look forward to future works from Leighton. It was also great as to catch up Payton and Ryder and to see how their relationship has developed. Kudos to Leighton for creating characters and a story that grab a you and keeps you on your toes throughout the entire book!!!
I was able to read this book free for my honest review.
We meet Tristen in Sinfully and know how much he loved Cami. Trying to move forward is a lot easier than everyone makes it out. Everywhere he goes is a reminder of her. Finally one day he meets Aria. She slowly show Tristen how to move forward without forgetting the past. Tristen doesn't think he will ever find love until one day Aria calls him to come to see her at work. She has a big surprise. Can Tristen learn to move forward? I would recommend this book.
I enjoyed this story. I felt so bad for Tristen for everything he went through. And after months and months he still wasn't handling the loss of Cami at all. How do you cope when you lose your very reason for breathing? Aria, who was one of Cami's friends, tries to help Tristen. It helps him cope better but of course he never gets over it. When an unexpected person shows up, everyone's life will get turned upside down. This one is well written and the story flows smoothly. I recommend this one!
This is a MUST Read I loved every word, all the pain, tears and even sex. The characters are awesome and are really fun to read about. The banter they have with each other makes it seem like they have known each other for a really long time. It's a really great love story that will blow your mind!! This is truly a story that plays with your mind and gets you wondering about certain parts of the story then Bam something hits you and your pretty much like WOW!!!

In order to understand what exactly is happening you must read Sinfully first. This can definitely be read as a stand alone but to fully grasp the characters and get to know them the first book is your best bet.
I truly enjoyed this story. I actually felt like I was there w/ them going through every twist and turn of the story. Amazing! I highly recommend this book to anyone who would love a relaxing weekend thrill!
