World famous phlebotomist Dr. Clarence Griffin has gone missing!
It's up to Apollo Grant to find him.
Complications arise when Griffin’s son, Connor, is found dead in a Vegas hotel. His death leads Apollo into a series of events involving a group of vampires known as The Coven. Apollo and his roommate, Murray, must keep the supernatural tension in the city from imploding.
Time is running out, and they need to hurry, before the mastermind controlling the Coven enacts their plan to create an army of super-vampires using Dr. Griffin’s research.
I did not intend to consume this book in less than 24 hours, but it happened. This was a fast-paced, funny, and gripping story introducing us to our eponymous protagonist, Apollo Grant. There are vampires, lots of cursing and tongue-in-cheek humor, and mysteries wrapped together that will surprise you despite yourself. I'm already looking forward to the next one.
this was a fun book to read. the character were all interesting and had a great mix of horror and humor. i could not predict what was going to happen next and could not put it down until i finished. i look forward to what this writer has in store in the future. A high recommendation for anyone looking for something new to read. This book does a great job mixing different styles I just like. detective, mystery, humor, and horror. I just loved this book nd glad i had a chance to read it and add it to my collection.
Great book, well paced, great characters, unique setting for vampires, witty, funny and I can’t wait to read more Apollo Grant! Looking forward to more books by this author.
Apollo Grant by Rey Nichols and narrated by David Bosco is an entertaining listen. Recommend if you like vampires, mystery, action, and a well-narrated story.
What’s it about? Apollo and his roommate, Murray, are on a job to find a doctor’s son in Las Vegas. Unfortunately when they find him, they realize it was a set up. From there, you enter the fast-paced and twisted long game of one vampire that doesn’t let up until the end. You get friendship, vampire hunting, action, bag guys, humor, pop-culture references, and detailed description of the scenes that helps to pull you into the world. There’s a nice assortment of characters and all are voiced to perfection by David Bosco. David does an incredible job with the voices, tones, and pacing, all of which make for easy listening.
I enjoyed this story way more than I thought I would- it was a nice surprise. Loved it was short, straight to the story vs. fillers, but at the same time I wanted a little more in one area (Ronald). While the end wraps up, it also leaves potential for more in the world (which I’d like to hear more of). 4 ½ stars for story, 5 stars for narration.
“Very few people know how vampirism truly originated. The theories are varied. Some say it started as a disease, some say it’s a curse. Hell, I’m willing to bet with being in Vegas someone probably thinks it’s spread by contact with glitter. If that’s the case, then Madison’s shampoo had already turned me into an actual sexy version of Edward Cullen.”
“a pair of vampires dressed like Hot Topic rejects with their hair in pigtails came racing towards us when we went outside.”
Parental guidance/trigger warnings: violence, death, description of female’s bodies, sex (not too detailed).
*I was given a free review copy of the book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you for allowing me to listen and review!
I loved the narration of David Bosco, he brings out the humour, action and pace. Loved listening.
We have humour, violence, action, vampires and Vegas. The pacing is fast and will keep you guessing, Loved the, witty banter and vampires in Vegas made for a great setting outside of the traditional vampire settings. One hot Vampire.
A great mix of fun with the mix of horror and humour. Looking forward to listening to more in this series.
This novelella was quite enjoyable reading. The plot was welll thought out and the villain reveal well done. I look forward to the continuation of the series.
