After five years with a man she loved, Ariana Parker held divorce papers in hand. From the moment she met him, Nick was the only man to make her body burn and fill her heart with joy, but somewhere along the way, they lost their ability to communicate - in any language.
Nick Parker lost the woman he loved to the trials of conception. Their inability to cope with their failure broke down their relationship and their friendship. And now, he's left with a woman he lusts after, longs for, and doesn't know how to reach.
One locked door and plenty of time to hash out their problems will either leave them broken forever, or might just be the glue that holds them together.

So, I just finished Their Second Chance! I started shortly after the author sent me a copy this afternoon and I couldn't put it down! It was amazing! This was a great and emotional tale that enlightened me to fertility issues that I previously didn't know much about. It really is an eye opener to the things some couples have to go through to have a baby and it really made me feel so fortunate that the births of my own children went better than they could have. I do know what its like The relationship between Nick and Ari was so strong that even though they felt the only option they had was divorce, all it took was a little communication to show that their love was enough if they made it so. With a few changes and more effort on their parts, their marriage was more than salvageable. They took these steps and worked through their fears and doubts because they both knew that the other was the one for them. It was a heartbreaking, beautiful, soul touching story. Yeah that was kinda mushy but that's how I was left feeling once I finished! :D
And I'm kinda embarrassed I didn't realize right away that April Angel is the pen name for Milly Taiden! I've read another book by April and loved it too! I feel so silly! Lol
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of her newest book!

Sickenly sweet, that's how I would sum up this read and that's not a bad thing. I need me some Nick, in my life. That is how a man in love fights and treats the woman he loves.
I don't mind reading stories in my romance novels with important story lines as I did in Their Second Chance. I do admit, that I thought the book would be too sad with a dark cloud, but I think the author still gave us a bit of everything, romance, spice, complications and more. Nick and Ari are planing their divorce, when something happens that allows them to try again with putting the past behind them. However, something presents itself in their relationship that would test how far they have come. After reading this story, I have no complaints about the characters. I think they were both portrayed nicely and both gave a lot in the story line, including the mother-in-law from hell.
Apart from enjoying this story, its a short quick read, which wasn't that much of a disappointment. The author focused on the characters and its story line without any unwanted plot to the story. However, without giving anything away, the section in the book, about this Kathy character, I would liked to have explored that more, it was very random and as quickly as it was mentioned it was over.
Overall, a good and very much relatable story. And now and then, I know I personally need a break from the hardcore erotica that I enjoy reading, so this book gave me a breath of fresh air with a mix of everything.
I was a beta reader for this book and was I blown away by the depth and knowledge that April Angel/Milly had put into this book as far as something that touches so many women's lives. At times it was like looking into my life, my heart, my pain and my happiness. It was a very good read that can at times sting your eyes and touch your heart. But above all else, it was laid out in a great format and is a very worth while read! I am looking forward to re reading the finished copy. This is a story I could read over and over again and still have the warm and fuzzies for it.
A leitura foi uma bela surpresa. Eu não conhecia a autora e vou passar a acompanhar o trabalho dela. Gostei muito da história e não consegui parar a leitura até eu chegar ao final. Recomendo!

The reading was a nice surprise. I didn't know the author and I'm going to keep up with her work. I really liked the story and I couldn't stop reading until I reach the end. Recommend!
When I was offered the chance to read Ms. Angel’s newest book in its really early stages, I think this was the first draft, I was warned that it was very different from any of this author’s previous stories. I took the warning with a grain of salt because I’ve read a lot of books by this author and have come to expect them a certain way. I think I may have underestimated her. Their Second Chance was indeed different, and I’m not talking about the lack of graphic sex that readers familiar with Taiden/Angel stories have come to expect. This time, Ms. Angel focused less on the sex and more on emotions which I think she executed successfully.
As the story unfolded and the depth of their hurt was revealed, Say Something by A Great Big World played on a constant loop in my head.
It's difficult to critique characters who are going through infertility issues and the strain it can have on a marriage. Their journey was just one (real) possibility of many. The lack of communication and misunderstandings felt realistic, but I liked that it didn't take them long to reach the breaking point and spill their hearts out. From the first page, even though both characters were on their way to put the seal on the end of their marriage, their connection and their love for one another was always palpable.
Ariana and Parker were a very sweet couple. They were a perfect fit for another, but along the way they forgot how to talk to each other. I could understand both of them and where they were coming from. Neither one of them was the villain here because they couldn't fathom what it felt like to be in the other person's shoes. I liked the maturity they showed in giving their relationship a second chance since they've both had time to heal and process both the good and the bad. Of course there was some drama with Ariana's mother-in-law and her views on what being a wife should have entailed.
The pacing was good as they moved through their lives. I enjoyed the dialogue during their intimate moments and when they were being honest with one another. Whether you're like the characters or you find yourself in their situation, I think the story is relatable on the emotional spectrum. I hope Ms. Angel will continue to write more stories like this that make the characters more endearing by showing this type of vulnerability and maturity.

I loved this story. Heartbreaking, Soul searching, sad, happy, wonderful. I can't think of enough descriptive words for this! It's a great book! If you're in the mood for a good cry, read this. If you're in the mood for true love, read this. Personal growth? Read this book! It was such a wonderful read!!!
A horrible experience caused a rift between Ari (Ariana) and Nick, which lead to them being estranged for two years. While the two were putting their signatures at the bottom of the divorce papers in the lawyer’s office, all kinds of thoughts began to take over Ari’s mind. Things like, were they ever good enough for each other, did they try hard enough, was she the right woman for him, was he the right man for her. Nick too was lost in his own world. The tension between them could have been cut with a knife. It made me curious if they would work things out…
While reading you quickly find out that communication, or lack of it, is the couple’s main problem. It all started with the horrible experience where both dealt with the outcome in their own way. When it got to overwhelming, one pushed the other away and the other used work to hide as a shield, causing them to get out of sync. Ari and Nick lost their way to communicate their mutual loss, needs, feelings, and now two years later, they have no idea how to overcome the wall they have built.
This book is a short read and tells the story of two lovers who lost their way and are on the road to rediscovering what they have lost along the way. I like this story's concept and there isn’t a couple who deserve that second chance more than Ari and Nick. I also like the simplicity of this book, it deals with realistic problems, realistic situations. But the situation in the collapsing building wasn’t one of those moments. Talk about a bad time to get touchy feely. But for the rest is, “Their Second Chance” a nice, touchy read.
Another small aspect I like in this book is Harley the dog and her role as therapy dog to Ari. It’s always amazing to read how animals can help with easing pain, whether that pain is physical or emotional. While Harley helped Ari cope and was strong presence in the beginning, she disappeared further in the book. But still, I like how she was incorporated into the story.
Ariana Parker held her's and Nick's divorce papers in her hand. He was the only man she had ever loved, the only one to make her body burn with passion and her heart with joy!
Nick Parker lost the woman he loved to the infertility gods. The loss seemed to make them incapable of communication and hence the breakdown of a lovely marriage. He loved her still and without her he was lost.
Something happened the day they both arrived at their attorney's office to sign the divorce papers, something that might possibly reignite what they have always felt for each other and possibly the key to opening the locked door of communication.
This book was great and I highly recommend it. It was both heart wrenching and heart warming.
What a waste of an original idea. It was ruined by a rushed story, lack of background and character development, and frankly horrible dialogue with the MIL.
OMG! This is my favorite April Angel book yet! It brought tears to my eyes, had me frustrated with the evil Mother-in-Law, but there were still a few chuckles in there too! If I wasn't on pins and needles wondering about all the possibilities of something going wrong, I was fighting right along side Ari and Nick for things to go right. This book was a little different from previous AA books, but a great kind of different - there was more character development and while the hot sex scenes weren't as frequent, the ones that were there were still HOT! And now a bit to get you hooked...
After 5 wonderful years together Ari and Nick decide to have a baby. Failed attempt time after time leaves Nick feeling like a sperm donor instead of the loving caring husband he used to be. Each time Ari takes a test and it is negative he has no idea how to comfort her. Their communication and open and honest friendship side of their marriage deteriorates... until Ari gets pregnant, but sadly four months in she miscarries. This takes the state of poor communications to a new high. Now it is 7 years into their marriage, they've been separated for almost 2 years and it is time to sign the divorce papers. At the lawyer's office, when the building literally starts coming down around them, they become trapped and the communication flow starts again. Can they make it work? Can they learn to be friends and lovers again? Give them Their Second Chance and read the story, maybe it will inspire you to give someone else a second chance too!
Favorite passages: - Since the first time she’d seen him, his body had done the unbelievable—it turned her hormones and sharp mind to mush. - “I felt like I failed you, like I failed us when you left.” - “Fall, sweetheart, I’ll catch you.” - “You know he’d gladly put you back in bed.” “He’d gladly tie me to that damn thing!” - All they had was each other. And family came first. Always would. - Sometimes, love was enough.
I liked the premise of this book and the fact that Ari and Nick wanted no one else but each other. The couple definitely had issues to work through though. This book focused a lot on infertility and loss and what lack of communication will do to a marriage. Lots of family drama and my face was in a pretty permanent scowl when his mom was around. Woah.
I love second chance romances and jumped at the opportunity to read Their Second Chance by Milly Taiden writing as April Angel.
Nick and Ariana (Ari) Parker's marriage on the brink of divorce. In fact, the story opens with Ariana headed for the divorce attorney's office. She is heart broken and sick because she loves Nick and doesn't want to divorce him. However, their trials of conception drew them further apart instead of closer together. He has misconceptions about her and she has misconceptions about him but they fail to communicate with one another so divorce seems like the likeliest option. Only, Nick doesn't want a divorce either. He is still very much in love with Ari and doesn't know how to reach her. Fate intervenes in the form of a earth moving event and the couple is serendipitously thrust together through a potentially perilous event. Confined and alone, Nick and Ari's passion flares brightly and they are able to talk to each other...among some other sexy things :). Once help arrives, Nick and Ari wonder if their interlude was a blip on the radar or the beginning of their reconciliation. Determinately, they both strive for the later and begin the process of rejoining their lives. Along the way there are some serious bumps and hurdles and a meddling mother in need of a good throat punching. But through it all, Nick and Ari fight harder than ever before to have the life that they always should have.
I really enjoyed Their Second Chance very much. The story was sweet and a heart-warming, as well as a heart-tugger. Nick and Ari's plight was so sad and the reader was able to feel Ari's anguish over not being able to conceive a baby. And Grace, Nick's mother, definitely didn't do anything to help Ari's anguish at all. But Nick was absolutely adorable though. I love how he pampered and cherished Ari in the sweetest of ways -- not because he had to but because he wanted to. As Nick and Ari settled back into married life they forged a stronger bond; one that was strengthened by their adversity.
Their Second Chance is a lovely story of finding home again. I would happily recommend this to anyone who is looking for a second chance story and a sweet contemporary romance.
I read this story as part of the boxed set Red Hot Lovers.
This is a beautiful and dramatic second chance romance for a hurting couple who couldn’t figure out how to recover from the loss of their baby until it is almost too late.
Nick and Ariana met in college, fell in love and married. Their relationship was built on friendship and camaraderie. They not only loved, but respected each other as they pursued their dreams separately and together. Then the stresses of infertility, starting up their businesses, and an interfering mom caused everything to unravel until the day Ariana lost a baby and couldn’t deal so left her beloved husband. Now, they are facing a divorce that she initiated, but finds herself so reluctant to finalize. An unforeseen circumstance that leaves them locked in a room together gets them talking and the two haltingly begin communicating again and working toward a new chance. Nick wants it and Ari does too if only she can trust in Nick’s love and commitment and sternly force her fear away, they will make it work this time.
As I mentioned this one is both beautiful and dramatic. Beautiful in the sense that infertility and loss are tough things to face and because Nick, no matter what, was there for his wife and really stepped up when they decided to work it out. He courted her beautifully and stayed strong through all her doubts and his mom’s criticisms. And dramatic because Ariana can be a hot mess. She lets her fears and Nick’s mom really work a number on their marriage and her own stress level. Can’t say that I was fond of Ariana even though I felt for her going through the losses that she did. She grew throughout this story and I loved that in the end, she was able to stand up to Nick’s mom. I liked that the author set it up so both characters took turns at the narration.
It was a gently-paced standalone story that focused entirely on the rebuilding of Nick and Ari’s marriage. I would recommend this to Contemporary Romance fans who don’t mind things getting a pinch on the spicy side.
My thanks to the authors for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a book that made tears come to my eyes. It will be a book that I will read over and over again. It's one of those books that puts that warm funny feeling into your soul and brings goose bumps on your arms.
Ariana Parker loves her husband but doesn't know what else she can do. She has tried for years to get pregnant and the one time she did she had a miscarriage. Now when she asked for a divorce that she didn't want and her husband gives it to her without a fight she can't control the pain that she is feeling. How can she let the one man that rules her soul, leave her with a broken heart?
Nick Parker loves his wife and he wants to give her what she wants, even if it's a divorce. He knows that he let her down and he hates himself for that. He wanted to give her the baby she always wanted. In doing that it ruined the love and respect that they had for each other. That all changes in the lawyers office when they are about to sign the papers. It seems mother nature has other plans for them.
If you want to know what happens in this book you really need to read it. It has some really hot sex in it and it will make you burn. I love to read books like this and I love this author. She sure knows how to write a story that will leave you begging for more.
I can really feel what the characters in this book was feeling. I have had two miscarriages and almost lost my third child. It is a feeling that never goes away. It is a pain that leaves you broken and you are left with a hole that will never be filled. I love this story and it did bring back some memories that I didn't want to face. I loved it just for that.
Normally I love these second chance books. I love the giddy feeling I get when they are familiar with one another and all that. However this couple stopped speaking due to not being able to get pregnant and feeling like a failure, bla bla. They are ready to sign the divorce papers and during the meeting they are left alone and guess what happens? A dang on earth-quake? Guess what this lovely couple does during their divorce meeting? They have sex..Unprotected Sex! Guess what else? They have been faithful...aaaaaaand nothing interesting after that in my opinion. The hubby didn't have to work hard to get her back on her back hahaha and the wifey was so willing.. no courting..nothing! BAM! There we have the perfect family.
I have started my Red Hot Boxed Set of 18 books! This was the first in the set and a short one. Only about an hour and ten or so chapters.
I have to say this one read like a Mills and Boon :)
There was a whole lot of sweetness and I could have been reading about a friend.
Ari and Nick are heading for divorce when an earthquake occurs which send them running back into each others arms. They get back together, have a baby with a whole lot of pregnancy complications and live happily ever after.
The writing was fine, the story was fine but definitely nothing great.
DNF at 25% I'm sorry but I'd like to think I'm openminded. I kept reading while they were having sex in the lawyers' office during an earthquake, but continuing while making his mother into a villain it's just plain stupid. Infertility has a depth of it's own and while it could be a fantastic concept for a novel (a closed door to hash their problems out) the author clearly wanted to write a soap opera.
A sad start for this story about Ariana and Nick. Loved Nick, wanted to slap Ariana. Fertility problems and a miscarriage coupled with lack of support and communication, cause their marriage breakdown. On the verge of divorcing, Nick and Ariana get a second chance. When Ariana finds herself pregnant through sheer good luck, she continues to work for the client from hell rather than look after this much longed for baby. Bad health, the stress of work and a horrible nuisance of a mother in law causes complications. Nick was doing everything he could to make this second chance work and was a complete sweetheart. I wanted to hit Ariana, she was being a spoilt idiot in wanting everything her way, rather than doing what was best for the baby. On complete bed rest she continues to work at her stressful job. Seems like she didn’t really care about the baby as she didn’t tell that awful client to take a hike.
This is a different story from the usual ones that I've read from Milly but it was just as enjoyable as her other books. The trials and up and downs this couple went through to get their hea was riveting! Well done Milly!
love second chance romances and this one by Milly Taiden is verything you would want and expect. There are smiles and there are tears but you will reach the end of Ariana and Nick's tale totally satisfied.
Another winner. Usually when I read a book that has this few pages in it, the characters are not flushed out but I could connect with the main characters as well as the side characters. This storyline was amazing and I read it in one sitting!
Exactly what the title suggests...and yet so much more
This story was everything. Even though it didn’t have the action usually present in Milly's others books, it was still very dramatic, engaging and thrilling.
