When she's not at school Nina likes to help out at the bookshop owned by her Aunty and Uncle.
But when Uncle Bill finds a hidden room behind a dusty bookshelf in a forgotten corner of the shop Nina knows she simply must investigate. And so with the help of her best friend, Ivy, and a bespectacled boy named Oswald she unlocks the door and the three step into the mysterious room.
Suddenly everything starts spinning and the room goes dark and when the children open their eyes they find themselves transported to a tent backstage at Cornelius' Circus Spectacular. All is not well in the big top and Nina, Ivy and Oswald are soon caught up in a mystery the likes of which they had never dreamed, the mystery of the missing monkey.
With the big finale looming the children must investigate the circus performers, from Wallace the lion to Sadie the bearded lady and from the monkey crew to Doctor Dick the duck. And if they can't find the missing monkey?
Well they'll have to perform in the finale themselves of course!
Who is to blame for the disappearance of the monkey? Will the children learn the ways of the circus in time to perform in the finale and even if they do how will they get back to the Lost Bookshop again?
The Lost Bookshop is an exciting rollercoaster of a story sure to capture children's imaginations and leave them desperate for just one more chapter.
Suitable for children of all ages but recommended for 5-9 year olds.
Brillant as my daughter said this story is about how done it for the kids to enjoy and I so do have to agree with this statement. Amazing story I loved reading this wonderful book with my kids so yes I would be delighted to recommend to my friends. With that said happy reading from wee me. xxxxxx
A very cute and adventurous little story. Imagine entering a room, then suddenly finding yourself inside a circus tent, and straight into a mystery with a monkey missing. Plus you are expected to find the monkey and the thief, oh and learn a rather daring performance which you have to perform in front of a full audience. All in four hours.
The characters have guts. And a bookshop which is like a maze.
This was a fantastically magical story. About three children who are magically transported to a circus while inside "The Lost Bookshop". While they are at the circus they search for clues to find the missing monkey. Along the way they meet the most amazing characters. And in the end they solve they mystery and find the missing monkey.

A great little book that really brings to life the mystery of reading. I mean literally brings it to life. Three friends sucked into a book via a special little room in the back of the book shop. I have read it twice now and both times have ended up craving banana's as well as with images of animals in circus outfits ordering humans around. It is great fun and really gives in to the idea that books are a world of their own. Great characters and just long enough.
