I thought this book was an enjoyable read. The general storyline brought the movie "A Walk to Remember" to mind. There were MANY instances during which I had to suspend my disbelief, especially with the parents and a judge. The over-the-top maturity of the 12-year-old main characters was eyebrow-raising. The sweet relationship between the friends was entertaining. I liked all the different family dynamics addressed. The ending was both sad and sweet.
