This is book four of the Hailey Arquette Murder Files series and Hailey and her sidekick, Casper (Olivia) Decuir, are continuing their investigation into the Gifted Elite School Casper has been enrolled in by her guardian, Major Clannahan. The two work for H & C Investigations, which Hailey set up for them to investigate and get justice for murder victims and word of their success rate has been spreading. Casper has the misfortune to be awoken by a spirit of Yamato, who keeps bugging her to call his associate Dante Rossi, who she doesn’t like or trust, as he is withholding information about her birth family, until the school case is over with. All Casper will do is call Hailey and get her to meet them at the location Yamato Takahashi says his body is, in the boot of a car, sunk in the bayou! Once Hailey and Casper confirm this, they call in their friendly fed, Trenton, as well as Dante. Yamato had found a connection between Vice Principal Jenkins and a student who is connected to a new board member at the school, and somehow, his interference had cost him his life! It has been decided that they need to set up a wider task force to take down whoever has been using the gifted students of the school for nefarious uses. Hailey and Casper will be joined by Trenton, Dante, as well as Leigh and Lt Colson from the local sheriff’s department, and Noah, Casper’s boyfriend and a wolf shifter. Leigh and Colson don’t know anything about the paranormal of any of their gifts, nor those of Casper’s family unit back in Pennsylvania and they will need to let them into it all gently and in stages. The assassin has left no trace, sniping at Yamato from a distance and his spirit never saw who did it.
Some of the team object to Casper and Noah being on the task force and none of them are used to working as a team together, which causes errors and friction. Other members of Casper’s PA family have to be brought in at some points to help them on some dangerous missions, as they find themselves facing dangerous shifter assassins, who are working for some unknown master. It all connects to the school and what has been going on there, with their only clue being Jenkins somehow involved in it all. The task force needs to get evidence of who was involved in using the students and then try to take down the whole organisation. Someone thought many of these gifted students might be psychics as well, and thus have abilities like Hailey, Casper and the rest of her family unit. It seems the war against those who want to use them for their talents and abilities is never ending and Nicolai provides a few warnings about keeping certain team members together at all times, to keep them safe. A student is targeted, putting Casper in danger as well placing her in a situation where she is not protected by another of the task force. But then, she likes to do things by herself and hates being thought of as a child, getting herself into a scrape or two! A rescue mission turns deadly and is a trap for those who come, which they all know. Thankfully the enemy don’t know all the tricks the task force have access to and these are used to great effect, with Casper able to phase any who hold onto her, through any object and even avoid gunfire striking its intended targets. Kiera is able to create portals for the team to travel instantly through, as well as others to send the bad guys to wherever she wants to, while they have a few serious injuries they have Ouray there to help heal.
Dante is keeping a lot of secrets, some about his link to Casper’s real family, but also from all the others on the task force and in PA, as he already works for another organization that seeks to dedicate itself to psychic’s freedom. There are not just groups in the USA that are searching for people like them, but all over the world and some wish to eradicate or enslave the supernatural and any voids will soon be filled by other nefarious groups, seeking to kill or exploit psychics. He had been working with Burke and Yamato, and is now the only one of the trio still alive, quickly finding out that secrets can hinder teamwork and bring about dangerous situations. But his secrets are not just all his to share, they also belong to those he has worked for over the years. They hold Yamato’s funeral at long last, and it brings a fusion of New Orleans and Japanese culture together and Hailey has a hard time keeping her psychic ability to communicate with spirits quiet, as she has Yamato and her twin Addy there to contend with as she tries not to be seen taking to no one! Thankfully one side of the family are more on tune with the spirits and there is a wonderfully funny ditty at the end, where Dante feels the full force of an angry spirit, for keeping secrets from someone who was supposedly his good friend! I can’t wait to see how the groups come together to face this new danger and war coming for them! I have received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Plot Synopsis (as spoiler-free as I can get):
Casper’s psychic gift of communicating with the dead didn’t bother her until a very insistent spirit woke her up. One who only wants Dante and who refuses to talk to Hailey when she arrives at the murder site. Both Casper and Hailey are surprised to see that there is no trace of a killer left behind.
While they are looking into that murder, Casper follows a lead that takes her straight to her school: the Gifted Elite school. When the niece of a top donor is killed, Casper follows the clues the spirit has given her to a pack of shifter assassins.
But what is the connection between the first murder and the murder of Casper’s classmate? And how do the shifter assassins, Dante and Casper’s mysterious past, figure into everything?
Main Characters:
The main characters of Phantom Reunion are Casper and Hailey. But, this book focuses more on Casper and her investigation into the two murders. Hailey, Trenton, and Dante, while a big part of the book, are more in the background.
My review:
I enjoyed reading Phantom Reunion. While the ongoing storyline and the two murders are the book’s focal point, I liked that the attention was on Casper and her search for her parents. I loved how it was woven into the storyline.
Phantom Reunion’s storyline was a filler book. Don’t get me wrong; it is well written and filled with Casper’s snarky humor and her and Hailey’s habit of getting into trouble. But, it was also a book explaining and revealing the answers to questions in storylines from The Guardian Series (mainly: who are Casper’s mother and father and what happened to them).
Call me crazy, but I was thrilled that the author added other types of animal shifters to this universe, not including Casper’s boyfriend (who can shift into any animal). There were coyotes, cougars, and tigers. There might have been bears, too. I was over the moon about that. The shifter angle of this series and The Guardian series (it came later on in that series) was always a favorite of mine. I can’t wait to see if the author expands on this!!
I was puzzled as to why Dante didn’t tell Casper upfront about her parents. Several times, she had made it clear that she wanted to know names and reasons. But once he explained everything, I understood. I felt horrible for him, and the guilt must have been overwhelming.
I was intrigued by the tease of another group of psychics in this universe. I hope the author expands on that also (as well as Hailey’s developing psychic abilities).
The mystery and thriller angle of Phantom Reunion was well written. I liked how the author tied both murders together. I feel we will be seeing more of the person behind everything fairly soon.
The end of Phantom Reunion did pull at my heartstrings. But it also got me very excited for book 5. It should be one heck of a ride!!
Many thanks to Reily Garret for allowing me to read and review Phantom Reunion. All opinions stated in this review are mine.
Hey there, book lovers, I've got some sensational news for you today!
I'm so excited to share my thoughts on the latest book by Reily Garrett, Phantom Reunion. It's the fourth book in the Hailey Arquette Murder Files, a spin-off of The Guardians series. If you've read The Guardians, you'll recognize familiar faces, like Casper, the young, sassy, and hilarious psychic who can talk to ghosts, and her best friend Simon, a capuchin monkey spirit. She teams up with Hailey, an intelligent psychic and badass private investigator, and they solve cases together. They have such great chemistry and friendship.
The book starts with a bang, literally. Casper is visited by a ghost who a sniper just shot. He tells her to contact Dante, who is mysterious and seems involved in some shady business. Casper calls Hailey, and they rush to the scene, where they find out that the victim, Yamato, is a friend of Dante's. They also discover that Dante and Trenton, Hailey's hot and sweet FBI boyfriend, are part of a secret task force that was formed, which they are also a part of and are just now being told. They feel hurt and curious.
The next day, Hailey gets an offer from Major Clannahan, the task force leader. He wants to upgrade her office and make it the team's base. He also includes an opportunity to buy the building. It sounds like a dream come true! Now, they must train and work with Dante and Trenton while solving Yamato's murder and learn to work cohesively with all the task force members.
This book was unique and addictive. Reily Garrett knows how to write characters you fall in love with and root for. She also creates suspenseful and exciting scenes that make you turn the pages faster, usually closing her book with a fascinating and surprising ending. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romance and mystery. It will be released on December 29th, 2023.
Book 4 of the Hailey Arquette Murder Files book is my favorite so far! Ms. Garrett truly creates wonderful characters and in book 4 we really get deeper into the personalities of each character. For those of you have not read the series you really need to start with book 1 and read them in order. Free on Kindle Unlimited. These books involve a group of people with various skills. Psychic skills, shifters, and some other creative sci-fi skills. This group of people with different personalities, different powers, and lots of secrets have to band together to fight a large group of murderers. As you read through the book you think you know who the bad guys are and Reily flips you around and you find you had it all wrong. This book has danger, suspense, odd friendships forming, and very light romance on the side. This can be read by adults or teens. Another 5 star book by Reily Garrett!
Even with the help of ghosts, tracking a killer who leaves no trace is not an easy task. Our heroine just might need some help on this one, but deciding who to trust might be even more difficult than finding the murderer.
This is book four of the series, but it works fine as a standalone.
This is a romantic suspense story with paranormal elements. The story is well written, and easy to read with well developed characters and an intriguing setting. There is a lot of action and intrigue in this one, so the story moves at a good pace. The characters are well done and make for an unlikely but powerful team. The story does get a bit creepy at times, but not overly much, so just a heads up. Overall, a fast moving story that draws you in at the beginning and doesn't let go. I continue to look forward to another book in the series.
Highly recommended.

The Hailey Arquette Murder Files is definitely to date one incredibly entertaining series and the Phantom Reunion, the 4th in the series is just as entertaining as the previous titles and a must to have read the earlier books to fully understand the whole over encompassing story of the characters and the situation. I actually love the 'quirkiness' of the whole character creations and scenario that makes up this highly enjoyable and entertaining world that has been created by the Author, Reily Garrett. It is a easy to read story that keeps readers engaged from start to finish with a great balance of action, adventure, drama, danger, suspense, intrigue, scenarios that made me laugh within this oddly satisfying sense of companionship and non related family structure.

I just love this series and it keeps getting better and better. Hailey, Casper and the rest of the team are still pitting themselves against unknown individuals trying to take advantage of the gifted children at the school. This time they are up against a vicious group of shifters who will stop at nothing, including kidnapping and murder. An action packed, page turner which sees the group expanding and romance edging in. Can't wait for the next book.

I am still reading this series. It continues to hold my interest. I guess the leaving us with questions at the end of each book is work on me. This book answered more questions than it left. We are still left with a pending war, but a lot of they "who are you" and "what can you do" questions were addressed. Not all, but a lot. Evidently we have a couple of hot romances going on. Rather low key and behind closed doors, but they are referenced. I will probably continue to read this series, because I do find it somewhat interesting.
Another great book to the series. The author once again brings strong characters and weaves an intriguing story that had me glued to the pages right to the end. It's an interesting story with the paranormal, shifters, spirits and psychics. The story moves fluidly with perfectly painted scenes and is a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I've read several books written by Reily Garrett; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the fourth book in the Hailey Arquette Murder Files Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Casper using her psychic power to help solve local murder.

The new family is forming and new challenges await but as Casper and Noah draw closer together and begin to understand the new family, secrets are revealed and a new understanding is beginning to coalesce. I have to admit to having tears in my eyes during the Christmas Day discussions. Another exciting and intriguing story from Reilly Garret and hints of more to come.
Now I understand the name of this story. A lot of things happened. Some not good. Some very good. (Of course I am not going to tell.) A whole lot of scary things happened too. I do love the last chapter the most. It could make this series last indefinitely. Awesome story. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was another great addition to the series. The characters were entertaining while the story line was engaging and kept me coming back for more. I can't wait to see what Reily Garrett has in store for us next.

We all have imagined what Psych powers would be like… but not everything is as we imagined… Only the Spirit can know. Just as we don’t have knowledge of what comes next after death…. We only get glimpses… Life is like that and so we imagine..even writing this in stories…. We must trust in the Creator of all things to teach us when the time is right.
This wonderful story was filled with thrills a many. It has a touch of beautiful romance together with a world of psychics, shifters and 'norms'. I could never predict what was going to happen next and enjoyed very sentence. I would recommend this book to everybody. The characters are fantastic. Pure entertainment and am looking forward to the next tale.
Another great story in the series. This one really centres around Casper. The supernatural element is nicely done and focuses on the vulnerability as well as the expected. There are obviously more hidden players out there with a lead on to more to come.
Great read from start to finish. Keeps you guessing until you get to the end with a twist thrown in. Interesting storyline with spirits and shifters. Great murder mystery book. Great story line with interesting characters.
I could not have imagined Dante was Casper’s uncle! I am still stumped on his information he isn’t ready to divulge yet - what a cliffhanger and cannot wait for the next book. I just love these families and am glad they are going to continue to work together, but I think the worst has yet to come.

Great paranormal story. You could read it as a standalone, but you won't want to. There are several characters and they all bring something to the story. Definitely recommend.

Mysteries solved, questions answered, relationships forged. This book continues the amazing Hailey Arquette stories with her partner Casper, met in a previous series. But more questions exist and you'll want to read the whole series to answer them all!
Set aside a day for this contemporary small-town paranormal ghost mystery thriller set in Hamchet, Texas in December when the ghost Yamato Takahashi wakes Casper at 1 AM demanding she call Dante Rossi.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Like the rest of the series, this book is full of action and suspense. There's some humor and romance, but the unusual gifts that the characters make this hard to put down. Can't wait for whatever is next!
The thugs hired to recruit certain students are tiger shifters and are ruthless. Melody helps kidnap Casper and is then murdered. Her spirit along with Addy and Dante's friend Yamamoto
When the major comes, everyone wanting form a special team dealing with powers things start off slow because not everyone was upfront with their abilities. Before they could all sit down, Casper disapears.
Casper and Hailey continue their investigation with the death of Dante's friend. A new team of investigators form and ate learning to depend on each other. There is a surprise toward the end of the story which explains several things. Ready for the next book!
This book was full of action! It really kept me turning pages quickly. We learn more about Casper’s past and Dante finally starts opening up. The bad guys are out for blood and have Hailey, Casper and Noah in their sights. I’m looking forward to the next book.
