“Omg, people, do you know how difficult it is to find a GOOD comedy/satire fantasy book?!? I loved this one and methinks I found myself a new fave author! This was a Janet Evanovich feel kind of book - Stephanie Plum with paranormal added in - it’s got a sassy heroine, a hot Chief of Police for eye-candy, right down to the interfering grandma as a side-kick.”
Download the second half of the complete Federal Bureau of Magic series, books 8-14, in one big omnibus and escape to the small town of Chipping Cheddar where Agent Eden Fury fights demons on the egular, but the real battle is at home with her wickedly hilarious (and just plain wicked) family.
Annabel Chase is the author of urban fantasy and cozy mystery novels. (FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
3.5*
Re-read, forgot to post review first time around.
I read the entire series back to back.
Lost points because needed better proof reading for continuity goofs on 'big' stuff. Two different books we had the 'first' 'I love yous' and it was either 2 or even 3 books, that MC explained to love interest that her family were 'evil', as if this was the first time he was told. So we'd also gone back to her worry because he's the police Chief and her family is not law abiding a couple of times.
I didn't take off points for mis-remembering LI dying and MC saving him and somehow turning him into a male Fury. Even though I am very disappointed this didn't happen and now wracking my brain to think if it was another series I read (I'll be word searching a browser in a minute) or if last time I dreamed the fix to LI
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
I just finished book 14 of the Federal Bureau of Magic series by Annabel Chase, and the fact that there is no further reading to be done in this series is seriously saddening. I put off finishing the book because the series was ending, but I needed to know how things turned out... so here I am. At least I know I can pick up where I left off reading the same author's Crossroads Queen series: the next book has finally been published! Sadness, anticipation, and I haven't even opened another Annabel Chase book! I highly recommend this series, especially if you have an, umm, difficult family, lol. There's hope for us all
I’ve just finished the whole series. Witches galore plus wear wolves, vampires and human best friend with the sight. Family clashes and gentle but complicated romance. All with great humour.
I enjoyed reading my way through this series. It was sweet, comical, clever and thrilling. The characters were fun, as were the gratuitous cheese puns. Very entertaining!
A great read for light fantasy. My first time as I have always read Sci-Fi before this series! I read all 14 books in a week, and thoroughly enjoyed them! I would recommend then to anyone into this genre!
I love Annabel’s work, but have been particularly impressed with this series and in a way kinda sad that it’s ended, but from start to finish you fall in love with the characters and I love the families involved
