The best thing happened to her . . . but in the worst way possible . . . Prisha Srivastav turned eighteen two months back. Hailing from Faridabad, shestudies mass communication in Bengaluru. She meets a mysterious man, double her age, who goes by the name 'the mean monster' in the Bengaluru party circuit. Intrigued, she pursues him and falls for him. However, there's a problem. Prisha doesn't know he kills the one who loves him. Literally. From the master of twists, Novoneel Chakraborty, comes another beguiling tale
of dark romance and thrill that won't let you put the book down till the last page.
The first book in the Forever duology Forever is a Lie is written by Novoneel Chakraborty. The story revolves around Prisha and Saveer's love life accompanied by some mysterious shadows. The eyes of a girl on the cover page are alluring.
Prisha was 18-years old when she first met Saveer, also known as Mean Monster in the Bengaluru party circuit. Being a 34-year-old, Saveer ignores her first and considers her as a teenager; who doesn't know anything about true love. Prisha had a break-up, and somehow Saveer's words helped her to move on. She was obsessed with him, follow him everywhere with her friends, Diggy and Gauri. He brings her dark side in front of her.
Soon the circumstances changes and their relationship started to flourish. They were so engrossed in each other that they avoid unusual signs which state that they were not meant for each other. Saveer has no kith and kin, no friends. They all were dead, but the reason was not mentioned in this book. Prisha's life is also at stake, but Saveer didn't share his secret with Prisha, just like his dead ex-girlfriend, Isha. He has a pang of guilt, but he didn't learn his lesson. Honesty is the key that Saveer lacks in his relationships.
The story felt flat and monotonous. It picked some fascinating elements in the end, but it was too late. The characters were okay, they do all the stupid things which we expect from 18-19 years old. The language is simple. I read Cheaters last year and enjoyed it very much. I have high hopes with this one, but I am utterly disappointed. The book lacks a thriller. I am not sure if I am gonna pick the second book any soon or ever. If you're new to reading, looking for something light to read, then pick this one; or just leave it.
In honest words, it was boring. There was nothing in the story. A girl chasing a guy who doesn't want to get connected with her and a mysterious person observing all their movements. The whole plot was immature. The concepts were weak. For example, a lot of pages were dedicated to discussion on 'complete love' but the whole point where it starts is weak. Doesn't make an impact. It's the same throughout the book. The only part where it does get interesting is the mystery part but by the time it ripens, the book ends. There wasn't much in this book and I do hear that the next part is better but then why make this one part with 200+ pages and not even enough content in it? Just for the next book? Even though I do plan to read the next book as I already bought it, I wouldn't have picked another one considering what a waste of time and money this book was. Boring. Uninteresting. Nothing in the plot. Kiddish! Did I mention how erotica part only made me think it was a spin-off retelling of fifty shades by E.L. James? I could certainly make connection. Don't know if other will feel the same but otherwise also, the book is below average.
Novoneel is again ready for one more series which starts with Forever is a lie.
After reading this novel, If it looks interesting I will be waiting for next novel in this series...but I am not having that kind of excitement.
Honestly, for me, it is completely boring and there is no much in the story .
Female protagonist loving male protagonist and there is one villain observing them all their movements ..it looks like 1950 plot and prolonging it to full 214 pages seriously I didn't expect this from my favorite writer.
Initial introduction, Mean monster concept is good but as the story progress on, my interest to read decreased exponentially
I know for sure I will be reading next book too but I hope it should be more interesting
For now, I will go with 2/5 for this novel
Novoneel by chance if you read my review, I have a request for you.
There is no point in writing a dozen books in a year..one book a year which can be remembered till this earth lives will be achievement for a writer
Please concentrate on quality, not on quantity. Because I love your books a lot especially Stranger series and Black suits you. I want my favorite writer to be on top all the time.
[12.01.21] Updating this. Tweaking it for fun. Apparently reviewing was not my strongest suite back then. ____________________________________________
[Reviews of both books in the duology in one.] ____________________________________________
Saveer Rathod goes by the name 'Mean Monster'. 'Mean' because of his 'edging techniques' in frivolous sexual encounters. And 'monster' because 'what he carries between his legs is two inches more than that of an average Indian's.'
I hope you are sold on that.
Because, it is that kind of a book. I am not even paraphrasing. I wish I was. And I say 'a' book. Because honestly it is one single book, split into two in a poor moneymaking endeavour.
The result lies in a drab soulless effort in the form of 'Forever is a Lie'. Making the first half of this duology incoherent and marred with fillers to pad things up. It is supposed to be a dark romantic thriller revolving around this 'Mean Monster.' The same guy who sleeps with random woman at night and runs a NGO at day for their safety. Guy might be a nymphomaniac by this point. But the takeaway is, he's hurting. He's suffering, our charming sad hero. And that should make us sad.
You see? Whoever he loves dies. Someone or something is hellbent on destroying his life for over a decade. And thus he promptly transforms into this "dark brooding guy with a definite soft spot." One might wonder why does he not contact the police? Or how about seeking some actual professional help?
But here the lies the grand dilemma of this literary masterpiece. He's too much of an alpha male, you see? How can he ever stoop to such lows? Don't you feel miserable for this hapless boy wonder? Goddamnit weep already, O reader!
And right about here, in comes Prisha, our heroine, the college freshman who is instantly enamoured by the much much elderly Saveer. (The same girl who fled her hometown because her high school flame dumped her.) And to make it all the more convincing, she falls in love with him after casually stalking him for few days. I suppose it is obvious by this point, that the girl boasts an IQ in the negatives.
The characters are stereotypical at best. The gay effeminate guy best friend who has the habit of saying 'sexy' out loud. The tomboyish girl best friend who has to habitually curse and utter 'bro' in every two lines. I mean where's the fun if the queer characters aren't hypersexual aren't they? The characters do not hold normal conversations. They speak in dialogues. (Something much better suited for Yourquote.in or the revered Farah Khan cinematic universe.) Just do not expect any semblance of character arcs going in. The author's mostly busy indulging in pretentious philosophical rambling about love and soul and shit, to even bother.
Moving on, we come to the smut. The extremely graphic and detailed love-making sequences. I mean they aren't a bad thing, right? Smut has its fair share of audience. But not when it's so banally written? Bargain bin trashy erotica that serves no purpose in the context of the 'thriller'. Might risk sounding like a puritan, however the age gap between Saveer and Prisha is quite problematic, seeing the manner in which they fall in love, and handle the relationship there after. She's basically a super dumb kid. And he's this Milind Soman ripoff with a brooding knight in a shining armour routine. But hey, who am I to judge?
𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚, 𝙏𝙞𝙮𝙖𝙨. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙩!
Well I tried.
The main mystery did pique my interest during the second book (which was a mild step-up from it's predecessor), but by then it was too late. The climax (laughable in it's absurdity) failed to live up to even the tiniest iota of anticipation, I might have had. The book honestly ends with one of the worst representations of mental illness I've ever read in literature. Okay, this ain't no literature. Who am I kidding? This is- how- how does one get published writing this? I mean sure, whatever, I am definitely not the target audience for this work. But a twelve year old can write better than this. ____________________________________________
Quote from the Book I Liked - “Hope is what makes one refuse to give up on a journey. Without hope, it would just be an unending loop.” (Para 2, Page 89)
“Injury and Wisdom were soulmates, she not knew.” (Para 2, Page 57)
Rating - 3/5
Synopsis - Eighteen year old Prisha Srivastav is a student of mass communication in Bengaluru. She meets a mysterious man, almost doubles her age, known as the Mean Monster in the city's party circuit. Intrigued she falls for him and pursues him. However, there is one problem. Prisha doesn't know that whoever the Monster loves, dies.
About The Book - The story is about a male Protagonist that goes by the name 'The Mean Monster' who lives a dual life, one as an owner of an NGO for women's protection and other as a Sex Addict. The storyline hints again and again about the main plot by redescribing that the protagonist murdered her own Girlfriend even when they were in a Healthy Relationship. Then There comes another protagonist, a girl in her eighteen, who just went on with a Breakup and seeks for this Mean Monster.
What I felt was that the whole book is left incomplete and was broken into 2 parts (Forever is a Lie and Forever is True) just to increase its market sale as the Author and publishing house can club both the books into one. The story is totally left incomplete without any sense, one has to buy the second part which feels totally vague for such an author. So as from my point of view I can't say I loved or hated reading this one but Unfortunately I have to get the other part to complete the whole story which could have been done in this book alone. So till then, the review is left unfinished and I will review both the Books (Complete Series) together as a One.
Verdict - Can't jump on to verdict before I read the second part of the Series 'Forever is True.'
Novoneel Chakraborty's this book has created the thrill and suspense again. Book is written amazingly and it's a page turner. I was glued to it and was not able to put it down without finishing. Every thing is explained so well that it fells like its happening in front of my eyes can't even think of blinking my eyes what if I miss something.. it's a journey which starts with suspense and ends with suspense. Loved it...Kudos to author.
3.5/5 Gripping.. Interesting.. Page turner.. Nt disappointing. Makes me feel that the author is at his best wen it comes to "series". The first minute I found myself in Lonavla nd the next moment I was transported to Bengaluru.. Loved the way Prisha has been sketched...But Diggy remains my favorite..(though he plays a small role). God saved me Cos I hv Gt the final part wid me (I feel mortified wen I read "to be continued" nd I hate it).
Well, I have read Navoneel Chakrabarty's Stranger series before. I liked it very much. After reading that series, its very obvious that the hope of getting a good writing from him will increase and I am very happy this time too. Its an outstanding storyline. I truely enjoy this. It not only gives me immense pleasure but also gives me the chance to rethink about the characters which he has made. Thank you for this phenomenal outcome of your supreme thoughts. Much Love.
Though Novoneel is one of my favorite Indian pulp-fiction writer, I, still, end up reading his books months after its release. This is the first time that it has happened that I have read the book in the same month of its publishing. I have just ended up reading another thriller by him named “Forever is a lie”. If any one of the Indian authors who has really enhanced his skills and showed vast improvement since his/her 1st book, its none other than Novoneel. His books leave such an impact that even after you are done with it, you keep thinking about it. Same has been the case after reading FIAL. I am more impatient after reading it because the last three words of the book are “To be continued”. This is what I had not assumed that the book must be having a sequel otherwise I had waited for the whole part to release like I did at the time of Stranger trilogy.
Novoneel’s narration is perfect which makes the timeline understandable to the reader in spite of it being little messy in the beginning. The “Mean Monster” thing sounds quite cheesy and unrealistic but the way author handles it immediately before it pisses off the reader is great. The revelation of the real personality behind this name is what starts making this book magical. The chemistry between him and Prisha Srivastav, the protagonist of the book, is nicely portrayed in the movie and it all sounds genuine irrespective of the childishness of Prisha and maturity of the Mean Monster. The philosophical quotes shared in between of the story in voice of any of the characters are again why I love Novoneel’s books.
The suspense part that has still not revealed in this book is the only drawback of the book. A reader feels cheated when he is not told that the book is 1st part of the many to come in future or the main revelation of this part of the story is also left for the 2nd part of it. I felt the same in the climax when I didn’t get to know anything about a character that is kept hidden from the readers. Though I know that the 2nd part will amaze me a lot, I had expected at least some conclusion with this book. Anyways, talking about the anti-climax and climax, it has been beautifully summed up with some fast-paced events which excite you. It is like an orgasm for the readers. Haha! I felt the first goose bump the moment a paragraph tells about something happening at Mean Monster’s home which is not done by him. That itself thrilled me. Rest of the book has just been plus after that. I give this book 3.5* out of 5 as of now because it didn’t deliver the conclusion. Looking out desperately for the 2nd part of this book.
I read it in January this year but I wasn't able to update it here... This was my first N. Chakrobarty's book but I didn't find it very thrilling, in fact for me it was boring.
sometimes redemption is about how much you can destroy yourself - one night at a time.
I read Novoneel's work in 2017 and I absolutely loved it so I had no second thoughts about picking up this book but I am not very impressed with how it turned out. The story opens in Mumbai 2010 with an accident. Cut to five years , seven months and twenty one days later , we meet Prisha Srivastav , an 18 year old student in Bengaluru. Prisha , who was dumped by her ex boyfriend , joins Tinder - a dating app and swipes right and left over profile. Suddenly , she hears about a guy in town known infamously as the "Mean Monster for all the erotic reasons. Curiosity binds her and she secretly wishes to meet him unaware of the grave danger the Mean Monster brings with him.
Saveer Rathod , a thirty four year old man with looks of a twenty something guy runs an NGO for women safety and owns a cafe. He has everything in his life except love.
But what binds the two together?
Well , nothing exceptional in here to be honest. An eighteen year old chasing a thirty something adult. Some quotes are exceptionally good but the story lacks the "thrill" moment for which I pick up Novoneel's books. The writing is lucid and easy to understand. What I feel is a second installment wasn't necessary. The author could have ended the story in just one book. The "sequel or series" tag wasn't necessary. I liked the character of Gauri and Diggy (Prisha's friends) and how supportive they are throughout. The only point where the book picks up a little pace is a thrill moment and the book ends.
Honestly , I would rest my final verdict till I finish the second book because I already own that. I wouldn't have bought it after reading the first book for sure.
Story is as cheesy as it can get.. young girl falls for mysterious man who is elder to her by a decade. He is famous as mean monster, the sex god i.e. the quintessential bad guy but he also has a soft and gentlemanly quality in him which is only accessed by our heroine. The present version of him is due to a terrible incident in past. Also the guy is rich, owns an audi...Hmmm, we have seen this story repeat in twilight, in 50 shades of grey and other innumerable movies and books already... The descriptions of 'lovemaking' are quite explicit and probably only reason for book's sale.. one extra star for keeping chapters short and avoiding unnecessary details. In fact story moves forward fast..A one time read.
A guy who called as "Mean Monster", who fucks everyone (just playboy stuffs, say no to love), and fall in love with a teenage girl and kill her after fucking her twice (or may be thrice? Hey Mean monster, come on man! stop feeling for Prisha!..)
why he killed her? or did she die really? Stay tuned! Part 2 On the way!
The book is quiet interesting, like a roller coaster ride through the ups and downs, as a thriller the book will satisfy each and every reader. There is more in this story, all those questions in the end will reveal on the next book of forever series. Hope that the author will do the magic again. For those who like thrillers, its a good one.
“Forever is lie” is the first book of the Forever series by Novoneel Chkraborty. The protagonists of the story are Prisha and Saveer. Prisha is a twenty year old girl basically from Faridabad but resides in Bangalore for pursuing a degree in Mass Communication. Diggy, Gauri and Zinnia Being Prisha's close friends play a very important role as well. She was suffering a breakup and so she deliberately chose to leave her hometown.
Saveer is a thirty four year old young man who runs his own hotel and a charity business. He is kind of a mysterious character throughout the story. Saveer is a heartbroken soul and deeply hurt due to his ex-girlfriend Isha’s death. He chose not to disclose his secrets which cost Isha her life. He was guilty in his perspective thus chose a strange way to punish, humiliate and curse himself.
Due to Saveers cryptic behavior, Prisha was being attracted towards him and soon she starts behaving like a desperate psycho kid who can do anything to grab his crush’s attention.
Diggy and Gauri were Prisha's best friends and they have their own interesting selves apart from being Prisha’s emotional supporters. Ever Since Isha left, Saveer was empty but Deep down inside he started feelings for Prisha and soon they started dating. It was a dream come true for Prisha but they were unaware of a storm coming towards them to shatter them into pieces.
There is someone who didn't want Saveer to be happy and he was taking every possible step to make saveer’s life miserable, to snatch his happiness. Prisha was Saveer’s only happiness now, Will he succeed in killing her as well ? Who is he or she? I also wanna know so I am gonna read the next part immediately.
Although I am not into contemporary YA fiction, I still find the storyline interesting. It's a beautifully narrated love story with a continuous excitement of mystery and thrill. Author says we fall for people but do we really know the meaning of real love? It really made my mind race.
I like the fact that a relationship can be the only support for someone's life. The story is full of characters but all of them are perfectly put together. Friendship part of the story was refreshing, I love the beautiful bond between the best friends.
This part of the book is more about Prisha’s psychotic urges to pursue Saveer and then their love story. The story is full of twists and turns and completely unpredictable so far. The twist of an unknown antagonist makes the story mysteriously thrilling. I personally have developed a desire to uncover the unknown devil as soon as possible.
My rating : 4.5/5 P.S. Love can be genuine but not every genuine love is a real one.

"NOVONEEL SIR". Seriously a "Nail biting story".
Time and again he proves that he's the most loved thriller writer for a reason. It takes hell of an effort to come back to senses
..to come back in reality once you read novoneel chakraborty 's book. "Just imagine yourself sitting alone on a world's highest
rollercoaster. And then you are taken to the peak. You think you will drop down but are pulled back. This is the beauty of Novoneel.
He never disappoint his readers. One of the best thing about his writing is, at the end, his every book will leave you in 'n number
of questions.
What else can you expect from novoneel. Like everytime leaves you shocked as much as possible. In my opinion NOVONEEL Sir is SIDNEY SHELDON of India. Life teaching Writings, Breathtaking suspenses, Unexpected twists, Pure love

Book in frame- Forever is Lie Author- Novoneel Chakrobarty
"People leave but the ghost of a dead relationship hovers over the one who loved genuinely. It keeps coming back to haunt every time one thinks one has conquered oneself emotionally."

Prisha's world turns upside-down when she was thrown from the same hill where it was said that Saveer had thrown her ex-girlfriend. The person who had thrown her was none other than the love of her life or what she assume to be."
The first part of this series had made me to get glued at one place and to read till the end even if I was reading it once again. The way the story is structured and it had left the suspense to be still intact for the next part is something that excited me the most and the author is master in this art. If you are fan of romantic suspense thriller then you should go for this one. The author had maintained his image if being a successful suspense thriller writer.
Forever is a lie: An engaging drama that lacks emotional depth!
Novoneel Chakraborty’s Forever is a Lie is a dark, gripping, and twisted love story that keeps readers hooked with its suspenseful storytelling. The novel follows Prisha Srivastav, a young, ambitious girl who falls for the enigmatic and mysterious ‘Bad Boy’ who doesn’t believe in love. As their relationship unfolds, secrets begin to surface, revealing a world of obsession, betrayal, and emotional manipulation.
Chakraborty’s writing is immersive, with short chapters that end on cliffhangers, making it a fast-paced read. The psychological depth he brings to his characters, especially the male protagonist, adds an intriguing layer to the story. However, at times, the plot feels stretched, and certain twists seem predictable, reducing the shock factor.
Despite its flaws, Forever is a Lie is an engaging romantic thriller with elements of mystery and drama. It is perfect for readers who enjoy dark, intense love stories with unexpected turns. However, those looking for a deeply meaningful romance might find it lacking emotional depth.
This is the first book in Forever Series. It's a duology. Now, this story revolves around Prisha who is a Mass Communication student at Cross University in Bengaluru. She is 18 and heartbroken. Now, she does not believe in true love because her first boyfriend Utkarsh has ditched her for her cousin. She registers herself on Tinder app and wants to sleep with a random guy like her roommate Zinnia. She seeks solace in that. But she finds that it isn't her cup of tea after meeting her first date. Now, there is this guy which is famous as Mean Monster in the party circuit.Prisha comes to know about him from her roommate Zinnia. He is 33.Prisha falls for him and wants to know more about him.But she does not know he has got the dark past because of that he became Mean Monster. Will he tell secret to Prisha? Will he fall for her? Does he have a real name? I enjoyed the book. There are some twists and turns in the story.I liked the Prisha's character. It was a good read.
Forever Is a lie is a mystery romance. Saveer Rathore aka Mean Monster who chooses random girls for sex has a very bad past. His best friend, first crush, his dog, his brother, his girl friend all he lost on his birthday. He being a introvert and on the other hand Prisha Shrivastav whose boy friend left her for another girl comes to Bengaluru for studies. A 18 year old girl with a fresh wound of break up meets up mean monster through her room mate zinnat. How Prisha and Saveer fall in love is the first part of the book. Its a mystery romance because some one unknowingly to saveer and Prisha is creating havoc in saveer's life by taking life of one close to saveer. Novoneel never disappoints in his story makes the reader to wait for the next book and always a nail biting story. Novoneel does not write a normal romance story he includes kinky sex, romance and there is always a hidden mystery in whatever happens in the story. Started reading the next book as well cant wait to know the story. Overall would really say a good good Goodreads... :)
Forever is a lie written by Novoneel Chakraborty..One of India's best Fiction writer. The book starts with all suspense and ends with "To be continued". We have to wait for the second edition.
A gripping suspense thriller. Great entertainment.
Eighteen year old Prisha Srivastav is a student of mass communication in Bengaluru. She meets a mysterious man Saveer, almost double her.
What happens next in their life...what is the dark secret saveer carriers..a suspense.
Overall this book is satisfactory.
If you guys have read Stranger Series, you can find few similarities in this book. The story picks up very slowly even after reading half of the book you will not be able to find out what is happening.
It is a well written book and waiting for the second one to read..
FIERCELY MYSTERIOUS AND SUSPENSEFUL STORY EVER READ!
“A thriller needs to hold the interest of the reader from the very beginning. It needs to engage with them, hold them in rapt attention, and prevent them from putting down the book.”
The story has been structured very properly as it grips you from the start itself. The story described over here has a dose of genuine suspense which sparks up your interest to read it at one go! The context of disappearance and secrecy narrated in this book makes you like this suspense thriller. The characters are beautifully personified especially of Saveer and Prisha. Saveer’s maturity, strength of mind and Prisha’s immaturity and determination to resolve things blends really well. You can feel the deep emotions embedded in this book through characters and certain lines from the book which has been portrayed in a striking manner which strikes your chord in a precise way. It leaves you with the feeling of longing. It will take you on a journey of a roller coaster ride of pain, conflicted emotions, heart break, struggle, fear and love.
Title of the book is what I believe in “Forever is a lie”. I liked the title. Language is easy. Book is moderately paced, neither fast nor slow. Characters are not much strong. Male lead seems like a strong character but halfway through the book you can see his lots of weakness esp. His emotional weakness. I liked the suspense in it. To be honest book was really uneventful in the beginning and it felt stupid to read their love story but in the end author builds up the suspense really well for the next book in the two book series. It left you wanting for more in second book “Forever is a true”. I want to rate it 3🌟 but giving it 4 🌟 for the suspense in the ending. Recommended to new beginners and for those interested in thrillers. Rating 4/5
I will probably rewrite this review later after i recall the whole book and not give of wrong information but this book had everything duniya se thaki hui w a book library ke corner mein me would've imagined when she would imagine her prince charming although not quite literally but in a way for sure. One quote though always stuck with me from this book even after years and years now that she overcome her "i hate the world" and actually interacts with real human , have norml life and love life, is where prisha felt when saveer kept going back to him and late gfs memories. Every first she's having with him he already had with her moment specially the tent scene something (i have bad memory). That stuck with me for some reason and i always remember this book whenever it happens.
It’s the story of a young college student named Prisha. She is heartbroken and when she starts college, she comes across this guy named ‘Mean Monster’. She starts falling for him but the Mean Monster aka Saveer Rathod isn’t a guy she should go close to. He’s a killer. He killed his girlfriend and doesn’t want to go even close to love anymore. The story is about this girl falling for this mean guy and his dark past. . Forever is a lie that is a very short book which I felt was missing at more than one thing. The plot hardly develops in the entire book. It felt like the novel just started and it ended even before something substantial happened.
