Clementine, an in-demand sketch artist who needs an escape from her hectic, stressful, and busy city life, decides to take a much-needed one-year sabbatical. She welcomes the chance to move to a small town in the South and inhabit the old, Victorian mansion that, upon her aunt's recent passing, was willed to her.
Upon arriving Clementine meets Gabe, a kindly, considerate, and sexy jack-of-all-trades who helped her aunt while she was alive with the house, doing maintenance, repairs, and property upkeep.
They are instantly drawn to one another, and Clementine wonders if he likes curvy women such as herself while worrying what he might think if he knows she's what's known as a white witch. - a benevolent practitioner of the elements, magic, and energy.
Meanwhile Gabe wonders if Clementine will figure out that he's not exactly mortal or living. That he is in fact a spook. A ghost.
Ultimately they will discover a hidden mystery about their unique connection, crossing time and space to reveal the their enduring love.
Different and unexpected full of mystery. Climentime is a white witch that makes her living in the art world. She was given her aunts home after she passes. Her first day at the new home she meets Gabe. He is handsome and a southern gentleman. He brings her food anf gives her his phone number so she can call for help. That's were the story starts it's twists and very unexpected turns lol. Not to give anything away I'll just tell ya Gabe is not who or what he seems to be and Climentime is more then she seems to be! Great mystery of murder in the past and it's unexpected endung! I loved it. Book gifted for an honest review and I think you will like it.
Clementine’s story is similar to others in which the female character engages with a hot male ghost named Gabe. There are dream flashbacks to the time Gabe was alive and the woman he loved. It was an okay easy read but not one that I felt had something new to offer in the genre. Some of the writing seemed a bit stiff and stilted but the overall story flowed and was fine in its own way.
I received this as an advanced reader’s copy from Quality Book Works with the request for a review. It is labeled as a BWWM paranormal and mystery romance and is written in third person.
This is a well done romantic suspense about witches, ghosts, slavery and murder. You'll fall in love with the characters in this story and their interactions with each other. This is also a sweet love story that spans time and race. Enjoy the read I did.
Not my kind of story but my hubs picked it out and it was a short read so it couldn’t be that bad, right? It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t good. The dialogue between Gabe and Clementine felt heavily written in that it didn’t flow. Conversation was abbreviated and felt superficial which made it hard to invest in the characters. The audible narrator’s deep southern accent was hard to listen to. I almost stopped the book the first time he said: lie-berry. Ya know, that place with books. And he said it again and again. That said, I finished it. It wasn’t awful and hubs thought it humerus.
I received this book for free in return for an honest review. I enjoyed this story of the reincarnation of a slave from the 1800’s meeting her lover from that time period as a ghost in this time period. It was interesting to watch Clementine learn about her previous life and research it to find out who she and Gabe really are. I do hope the story continues so we can learn more about them and where the story goes from here.
The story is pretty short. Clay Lomakayu does a pretty good job with the narration. It is a ghost story. It just really didn't grab me and drag me in but it is an ok story.
Spooked starts with Clementine arriving to a small town in the South. She is on vacation from being a highly demand sketched artist. Upon her arrival, she meets Gabe, a handyman, who has helped Clementine's decreased aunt by doing repair to the Victorian house.
Clementine is mystified by Gabe's disappearance. He would be here one moment and then he would disappeared the next. Gabe disappearing is the least of Clementine's worries. Ever since she has arrived at her Aunt's Victorian House, she has been having strange dreams of her being around the Civil War time period.
As Clementine started to discover the history of the house and the small town, she discovered the link that connects her and Gabe.
She and Gabe have secrets of their own. Will they both accepts what they are to each other?
This story has witches, ghosts, and reincarnation. It is an enjoyable short story to read/listen to of Love that surpass time and space.
The narrator, Clay Lomakayu gives a gruff narration of the story. His voice of the characters fit with the exception of Clementine. For some reason, his voice didn't sound right for her.
I was given this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.
I really enjoyed this novella and it was perfect timing to read for the Halloween season. (I would like it anytime.)
Clementine inherits her aunts house after passing. She is a talented artist and has been overworked so decides to take a year off and spend it unwinding in the house where her Aunt lived. Clementine is a white witch which means she can sense and also move between the worlds. Upon arriving she meets a handsome man named Gabe. He helps her out a couple of times but things begin to appear odd about him.
This is one book I would love to see expanded...I want to know more about the past and present with Clementine and Gabe and also others who might be hiding around between the worlds.Great short read anytime. I received this book for an honest review.
It's a good story but it should have been longer with more details. Both main characters were not detailed enough and nothing distinguishes them from other people. A ghost? didn't see that; he always comes around and you either don't hear him or don't see him? My son is like that too and he's not a ghost... A witch? nothing showed that either. There are too many questions left unsolved too like what "more important things" does a ghost has to attend? Not sure if anyone noticed but there's only one clean sex scene and it's repeated: one minute they are undressing, thrown onto the bed and kissing all over, then they are back on their feet and undressing, dropped on the bed again ... Needs a little more work.
I really enjoyed this short Ghost story, with lots of history, art discussions, and ghostly encounters. A deceased aunt has passed on her ghostly mansion to her niece, who decides to spend a year there sketching and drawing for her career. She meets some interesting characters both dead and alive and she slowly solves a mystery that she has been drawn into.
"Gabe's eyes caressed her like a pencil stroked a canvas."
"It allows us to connect," Gabe said, looking a bit spell-bound. "That, and you remind me of someone. Someone from my past..."
"...his eyes shining with an ethereal intensity of both confusion and passion."
A fun, and intriguing sketch through 150 years with Spooked, a book I choose to read and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
Beautiful romance about two lost souls finding each other again. Clementine is new to town, after inheriting a house, she meets a handsome handyman who offers to help her fix up the place. Gabe seems perfect at first, but strange things start to happen when he is around, strangers whispering and pointing, and disappearing acts. But Clementine is hiding her own secret from Gabe. Will these two discover each other's secrets, and find the answers to how they came together? I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A beautiful love story between an artist/white witch of mixed heritage and an apparent local handyman with disappearing tendencies. Sometimes she can reach him at the mobile number he gave her, and other times not. She meets many town residents and makes friends while working and solving his mystery. Erotica only at the end. Excellent read! Narrated by Clay Lomakayu who is marvelous in his audio interpretation.
A love that even time can't end. She's an artist who just moved into the house she inherited from her aunt. Not even a few minutes there and she receives a visit from a mysterious and handsome man. Their relationship is very confusing. And only by putting together info from the past and through dreams, does she discover who he is and who she really is.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
This was an awesome read. It was a little spooky and mysterious in the beginning but then you get interested in the background and history of Eugenia and Gabe. Clementine is a brave girl and a white witch which may a lot to do with her ability to communicate with Gabe. Maybe it's reincarnation. I can't wait to read the next book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a fun and lighthearted take on a ghost story. The characters are well developed and totally cool. The house even has a personality. I can't wait to see what else Clementine finds in this old house!!! Love seeing curvy girls finding love and also love the lighthearted way the subject of race was handled. Brava Ms. Madden Brava!!!!
Spooked is a love story. Clementine is a reincarnated artist who comes back home and finds her true love once more. That he is a ghost doesn't have any bearing as they can penetrate the veil to be together. Besides, after finding out how he really died and basically solving his murder, how can't they stay together. Enjoy! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick read about love transcending time. I loved the interaction between Clementine and the town people most of all. They really added depth into her character. I would have liked to have seen a little more interaction between her and Gabe throughout the story, but overall it was a decent story. I volunteered to review this story.
This is the first book I have read by the author. I found it to a well written story with interesting characters. This book makes you believe anything is possible. Can love exist across time and space? I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It is definitely a unique read! I found it entertaining although far fetched. The characters were interesting. The last couple chapters seem rushed to me. I was given this book for my honest review.
This was short cute Halloween type read just what I needed for a Halloween week read. I listened to the audible version and the narrator did an amazing job of bringing the story to life
A short story about the past not being laid to rest and a chance to figure out why. Good read, liked the characters. A voluntarily received a complimentary copy for an honest review.
While it's a cute short story, you will really miss out on a lot if you don't read the first book before this one. I enjoyed the characters and it was a decent story line.
