Find out in Misplaced Scrutiny, the thrilling sequel to Cancer Under the Carpet, where Dr. Sophie Cadeaux navigates a chillingly realistic world of medical corruption and legal action. Narrated by the author!
It has been said that the scariest words in the English language are: We're from the government, and we're here to help. That has never been more true than in this medical thriller concerning Pap testing and cancer screening. Sophie, the heroine, is a tango-dancing pathologist who discovers an overly ambitious doctor working with complacent regulators and ill-informed legislators to push through testing techniques that lead to higher profits at the expense of patient safety. At great personal risk to herself, Sophie takes him on, persevering through snowstorms, death threats and more to champion women's health over careerism. I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated by the author. Normally, I prefer a professional narrator, but in this case, the author reads her work with such clarity, precision and emotion that I honestly don't think a professional was needed. Recommended.
This is the 2nd book in this series. It follows Dr . Sophie’s quest for justice, honest, and reliable medical testing. It weaves the perfect amount of twists and turns with storytelling to keep the reader interested. I am looking forward to more books by this new and upcoming author.
I liked this book 2 in The Pathologist Chronicles series even better than the first one. The adventures of Dr. Sophie Cadeux were even more thrilling. I especially liked the chapter with the crazy snowmobile ride that she endured to accomplish her goal.
