I enjoyed this, and felt that the author should have developed this into a full length book and if so, this could have been made into a masterpiece. As a novella, this fell a little short on my scale for a few reasons:
You are thrown right into the story, but it took some time to figure out what was truly going on. While I expect many books starting you right in the fray, this felt more like confusion than mystery and due to that the beginning was harder for me to follow and get into.
There was a solid start to all of the characters, but not enough time to develop them to their full potential.
Lastly, just when I thought that the first task was done and the protagonist was going to move onto the next task, the book abruptly ended. This didn't feel like a good stopping place or even a "complete" short story.
