A terrorist bombing. A dead newborn. A ruthless politician. One attorney racing against time.
When a devastating explosion shatters the peace of an Ohio Valley town, it sets off a nationwide manhunt—and unravels a series of shocking crimes that no one saw coming.
A teenage girl is accused of hiding her pregnancy…and murdering her newborn.
A cunning political operative will do anything—lie, manipulate, even kill—to gain power.
And defense attorney Danial Solomon stands at the center of it all.
With one client dead and another's life in the balance, Solomon must connect the threads of a deadly conspiracy before it costs him everything—including the woman he loves.
As his relationship with Lori Franks teeters on the edge, Solomon is thrust into a maelstrom of crime, corruption, and betrayal. But in the pursuit of truth, how far is too far—and who can he trust?
I find Mr. Swiger's books enjoyable as far as the storyline is concerned, but I have never read any books so filled with grammatical, syntactical and typographical errors! At times sentences made no sense whatsoever. I am almost 80 years old and I've been an avid reader since childhood. I've never encountered books that needed a proofreader as badly as these do! If all the errors won't bother you, enjoy the stories; otherwise, stick to books that you know will be accurately written and proofread!
This book follows "A Trial of Innocents." Again, lots of OV references (Benwood, Moundsville, Wintersville, Jefferson County Courthouse, Lover's Lane, Wintersville Hospital, University Hospital, Moffo's Pizza, Oglebay Park, Route 7, Ernie's Esquire, Capital Music Hall, etc.) make it interesting to OV people. There's a lot less praying and preaching in this one than the first. The mystery is better drawn out than the first book, but you still know how it's going to end about halfway in.
A Murder of Innocents has a great storyline and many wrongs were righted. But I must have missed the part where Lori, the corrupt prosecutor-turned Christian left her job and associated with Danial, the Defense lawyer. His insides did funny things then suddenly they were going into a law partnership and maybe marriage. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them, but I feel like there were pages missing from my book. (It's happened before with ebooks.) I did love how Danial tore into Dr. Garvey, baby slaughterer. I wonder if any lawyer would be so bold in real life. (They should.) Anyway I recommend Mr. Swiger's books. They are excellent. I hope more are coming in this series!
So, it takes while for everything to start to resolve and for a while I was getting upset that there were people being hurt and murder, taking place, and it seemed like that there were not going to be any consequences for some of those players and the politics and everything that was going on, and as the story went on, you could start to see the pieces come together and how the author was weaving it. For a contemporary Christian thriller. I just felt like there was so much violence and yet it is quite possible that that’s how things are in the prison system, and some people might look at abortion in the same way that they did. So some of it was not easy reading and the story moved quickly, and it is still a good book to read.
I cried a lot in this story, I have a really hard time with abortions. It is so hard hearing about a baby being aborted in the last trimester of pregnancy! My first baby was born 5 weeks early, and he made it just fine, why kill that baby! I’m sorry, I’m just getting emotional about this! Anyway, we learn a lot about pro-life and pro-choice in this book, and the way God works in us during this period. I really like the way Michael Swiger handled the topic, and the way that things worked out in all the parts of this book! Thanks for this, I would love for this series to go on, I want to know about Lori and Danial’s life, and their combined practice!
I really enjoyed the twists and turns this book took. It seems like you know just where the story is going then it takes a turn and you are surprised. It really makes you think about your perception of the way our medical system really works. One life is so important and another is useless and thrown away. It was definitely a book I had a hard time putting down. If you want a thought provoking book I recommend this.
The narrative deeply moved me, with its poignant storytelling evoking genuine emotional responses. The author's nuanced exploration of complex themes prompted profound reflection, while certain graphic descriptions challenged my personal beliefs and sensibilities. The portrayal of societal skepticism and institutional dynamics added layers of complexity to the narrative's emotional landscape.
The lawyers in this firm take a different approach to the law. They work to help their clients from a Christian standpoint. The cases are compelling, the issues are intriguing, and the characters are anything but cookie cutter Goody-Goodies. They have made bad decisions. They have suffered. And they share their stories in their goal of reaching out to other sinners.
My Musings An excited novel with intriguing characters and an action packed plot. The pro life aspect was very graphic and it times extremely difficult, I was aware how horrifying an abortion is for the baby, not to mention the mother afterwards. For many it haunts them for years. I look forward to reading/listening to other works by this author. The narrator enhanced the story. Happy reading/listening!
I have read all four of Michael S wife's books. They are all first rate thrillers. I especially loved professor Mead. I love they're pro-life and bring out how perfectly healthy babies are being murdered daily under the guise of women's rights. So barbaric! Lord help people see the truth! I highly recommend this and all of Michael Sister's books.
This book was even better than the first, and it added a different dimension to the story with Danial and Lori dating. Great plot, and I liked the fact that the same characters were back. Again, a lot of spiritual and faith-filled content.
The author did worse on this one though with the language.....at least 3 uses of d*** and at least 6 uses of hell as an expletive.
I've always held my beliefs on the subject matter, but this reinforced them for me. There were a couple of times I had to take a little break from reading because the situations were so intense. So many twists and turns. Just when it seemed all was lost, good (and God) prevailed.
Thank you Michael for your exposure of the heinous crimes of the abortion industry. As a Christian, I also thank you for the souls being saved in your books. You really reveal the corrupt judicial system also. We have to fight back on these issues and hopefully Trump will help us. However only Jesus can heal our land when he returns.
This book is a page turner. I am new to Michael Swiger's books. I found this one a challenging read as it highlighted some aspects of abortion I hadn't realised were permitted. For me it was a wake up call, and am horrified that doctors are allowed to do this with impunity in a few parts of the US.
This is the second book I have read by Michael Swiger. After discovering that he writes incorporating Christian characters, I was sold. I recommend this book to anyone who shares these values or anyone who is curious about the Christian worldview.
I love the books by this author! He keeps you guessing til the end. I’m pretty sure some of these characters are based on real people since our elected officials are not all aboveboard.
Excellent expose of the abortion "industry", told in a most interesting and informative manner. As with book one, still fraught with typos and syntax errors, which detract from the credibility of the position taken on the issues.
Michael Swiger is an amazing Christian author. The topics in this 2 book series are difficult. But the books are well written, the character development is realistic, and the Gospel is always clearly presented in a non-preachy way. The storyline is a page-turner. I highly recommend!
Once again I could not put the book down! Michael is an amazing writer! I truly love the way the Bible is incorporated into his stories. God bless you, Michael Swiger!
So thankful for an author who isn’t afraid to write Christian works! This book has given me words and thoughts to use to witness to others! Oh, and I loved the story, too! Looking forward to reading more about Daniel, Lori…and Jennifer, too!
WOW! YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK! WELL WORTH THE READ!
This was such a great book! I will definitely be reading more of his books! I love books that keep your interest and this book is a page Turner, for sure!
Michael Swiger writes a great book exploring how abortion is murder no matter how you spin it! The life that God gives is precious and indeed a gift from him! I think you will enjoy reading this book!!!
The contrast of divinity, God's love/redemption and the Evil of abortion is stark
I found the reality of abortion as described gruesome vivid and totally factual. I pray that those seeking truth about this issue will believe and strive to end abortion. Bless us all
There were a couple twists I didn't see coming. Swiger's knowledge of court protocol and the legal system impressed me. I really didn't see the solution coming. Parts were tough to read but it's the truth of abortion.
The 2nd book in this series was as goofy as the first. Mr Swiger tackled some very hard issues with grace and dignity! I look forward to reading more of his books in the future!!
I couldn’t put this book down I loved the religion comments used to tell you even though you are a sinner you can still repent and go to heaven Wonderful murder mystery
THERE ARE A LOT OF CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK AND I FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO KEEP THEM STRAIGHT. AS I GOT MORE INTO THE STORY, I ENJOYED THE TWISTED PLOT AND ROMANCE … AND VERY HAPPY ENDING!
This book was wonderful. The subject written about was definitely hard to take in but written beautifully and hopefully more people are informed about abortion and it's cruelty.
This book picked cup where our previous left off, but did not leave a new reader behind. There's much to celebrate in this story, and I do. With a few more lawyers like Frank's and Solomon, the pros death crowd would have no place to sit or practice!
