Terrorists have taken over the American embassy in Koutu, a small Middle Eastern country with huge oil reserves. This is not good news for the ambassador's claustrophobic personal assistant Georgia Masters, whose composure is tested when she's locked in a small dark small storage room by the terrorists. Then, her worst fear is realized when they throw a man into the storage room with her.
Burned-out CIA agent Peter Welis can't believe his bad luck. Terrorists take over the US embassy of a small Middle East country while he's there on a routine visit. Only his cover as a photojournalist saves him from being immediately killed. Then, he's locked up in the basement with the ambassador's claustrophobic secretary. So what if she's bravely trying really hard not to lose her cool? Nothing worse could possibly happen, right? Wrong.
After escaping the storage room, he and Georgia discover a crate on the floor covered with Russian printing. It contains a nuclear warhead. Peter is now dutybound to find out the terrorists' true intentions and stop them any way he can.
As they escape the embassy and search for help, hope, and rescue, Georgia struggles not to fall for the secret agent who's the first to tell her he's a bad bet.

This is an entertaining, fast paced, well-written, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It is action packed with likable, engaging characters, sizzling chemistry, a brave, strong and capable female protagonist, a mysterious, heroic male protagonist, and a happily ever after ending. I am looking forward to reading the next entry in Ms. Rowe's outstanding "Trapped with Him" series with great anticipation.
This is the second Julie book I've read, and what I like the most is that she achieves that perfect balance of "romantic" and "suspense" in her romantic suspense books. Oh, and hot steamy stuff. That too.
This one was intense game of hide-and-seek with a bunch of bad guys who took over the American embassy. Peter and Georgia got into some pretty nail-biting scenarios, and I was delightfully on edge wondering what would happen next.
Georgia was definitely an independent woman, but she had the common sense to know when to do what she was told by someone who knows what he's talking about, aka Peter. Well, except that one time, but i turned out to be a good thing that she didn't listen to him. No spoilers!
And Peter is my new book boyfriend. He's a lethal weapon but you'd never know it unless someone was threatening the woman he loved :D Although he was a total alpha, there was never any doubt about his feelings for Georgia, and he was sure to let her know how he felt about her.
I am SO so happy this is part of a series, because I can't wait for the next book!!!
**I was given a copy of Trapped with the Secret Agent by the author in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions weren't solicited in any way **
Trapped with the Secret Agent by Julie Rowe is a new series for the author. I'm a huge fan for her Biological Response Team and Outbreak Task Force series and even though this book is different it still earned a 5 Star rating for me. I hope there will be more books in the series.
Georgia Masters is working for her uncle Ambassador Theodore Mitchell in Koutu in the Middle East when terrorist storm the compound bringing with them a unwelcome armed gift. Everyone is taken hostage or killed and they want several people released. Because Peter Welis is meeting with the Ambassador he is tasked with protecting her and hopefully with the help of the clues given to him by her uncle they'll they be able to escape and bring back help. Because if the terrorist don't get their demands hostages will die and the women harmed including Georgia. But what Peter doesn't know is that she has a huge fear of the dark and if they're going to escape it will have to be during the night. Will they be able to survive and bring back the Special Forces to take down the insurgents? What able the emerging feelings between Georgia and Peter?
Peter Weilis is now doing contracting work for the US Government posing as a photo journalist but while visiting Koutu he's captured with the Ambassador's secretary Georgia. He'll have to use his skills as a photographer when the insurgents want pictures taken and use his special forces and the CIA skills to escape with her and not get caught all while trying to not give into his attraction to Georgia plus evade the soldiers looking for them.
So, this was fast-paced. Right from the beginning. I really liked that. I've read a couple of slower-paced books lately and the change was nice. Georgia was a good character. She wasn't kickass, but she wasn't useless either. She knuckled under and did what needed to happen to make it through. Peter was great, too. He tried to keep things low-key so he didn't freak Georgia out, but he was as truthful as he could be. The bad-guy plot wasn't confusing. Just pretty straightforward. There was a danger bang. I was actually surprised by it. I've read other books by this author and the banging has held until they were out of danger.
Trapped with the Secret Agent by Julie Rowe is a fast paced action romance. Julie is known for her highly suspenseful stories centred upon domestic biological terrorism. This time around, the action is centred around international terrorism with an attack on an American embassy in Kotu.
This book is fast paced. We are quickly introduced to our main cast of characters, then bam! We’re off and running and it’s virtually non-stop action until the last page. I found Trapped with the Secret Agent to be a little less intense than other stories by this author, although no less enjoyable. It is a lighter read, think action movie rather than a psychological thriller.
The storyline is well developed, the characters are engaging, and there’s a good mix of action, humour, romance, and steam to keep everyone happy making it an enjoyable thrill ride to the finish.
I’d recommend Trapped with the Secret Agent to anyone who is looking for a light escapist read.
ONE GROUND SHAKING LANDSLIDE!!! Hopping hellions! Julie hit the ground running full tilt, throttle wide open, revving up the intensity and bringing out the heavy artillery, locked and loaded, blasting this bad boy to life spectacularly. Bearing the burdens and dispensing justice, imparting this action packed, hard hitting, pulse racing, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, page flipping, block busting bombshell, binding this gem together sleek, shiny and tight. Shenanigans, escapades and havoc rule the roost, rolling with the drama, turmoil, intrigue, danger, spiraling suspense and intense situations, along with a heaping with a super set of steel balls while dodging deadly intents, you have one intoxicating masterpiece. Blasting the boundaries and pushing the limits, the strengths and weaknesses being weighed and balanced, catapulting this gem forward, launching it into a frenzy with a life-changing culmination. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Amazing job Julie, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
This is the story of Peter Welis and Georgia Masters. Georgia works as an administrative assistant to her uncle, the Ambassador in Koutu. Peter is a photojournalist but is he just a photojournalist? When terrorists attacked the embassy, they were thrust in each other's company to get out of that deadly situation. Chapter 1 caught my attention right away and I was hooked. I just kept on reading. It was fast, action-packed and kept me at the edge of my seat. I found myself not wanting to put my ereader down. Georgia's character is strong. Peter is protective and honorable. I like how they interact with each other. Clearly, the chemistry is there. I enjoyed reading their banter. It is light and humorous inspite of their predicament. It gives a moment of relief from the constant action that is going on throughout the story. I just love this book. Amazing story, great characters and excellent writing. Truly a worthwhile read. I received an advanced reader copy from the author and I am giving my review voluntarily.
This book was so good and was full of twists and turns and ups and downs. I loved reading it. It is the story of Peter, a photojournalist/? and Georgia, the ambassador's assistant/niece. While Peter is meeting with the Ambassador of Koutu, a group of terrorists suddenly seize the embassy, taking most everyone hostage and making tons of demands. Once their demands have been made and the President has been given six hours to comply, the terrorists lock Peter and Georgia up in the basement. However Peter knows about an escape tunnel which he and Georgia find to use in order to get to the US military base and get help to save the hostages. Then begins their wild trip thru the town to try and reach the base. Along the way their feelings for each other grow, but are they real or just part of the adventure? There is plenty of shooting, hiding, rescues, terror, darkness and a nuclear warhead to add to the drama, plus a little bit of humor. I encourage you to read this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Julie Rowe has created a real page-turner full of intrigue and adventure. From the first page to the last, the action never stops. I had trouble putting this book down!
I love the main character in this story. Georgia Masters is the niece of the Ambassador in Koutu, in the Middle East. She also works as his secretary. She is a strong, brave woman who has survived the death of both of her parents and lives in a country where Americans are considered enemies.
Peter Welis is a photographer who is visiting the embassy when anti-western protesters take over the building. All Americans inside the embassy are being held hostage until the President of the United States pays a huge ransom. This action happens on the first page.
What follows is an action-packed story as Georgia and Peter attempt to escape and get help for the hostages. The excitement doesn’t stop until the last page.
I’m a huge fan of Julie Rowe’s Outbreak Task Force series and her Biological Response series, so it was exciting to try her new venture away from the science with Trapped with the Secret Agent. It reminded me of one of my favorite suspenses from a decade ago, Shadows at Midnight. Peter Welis is a burned-out CIA agent who is on hand the morning terrorists take over the American embassy in Koutu, a small middle eastern country. Posing as a photographer, he is tasked with not only saving Ambassador Theodore Mitchell and diverting nuclear war, but in getting the Ambassador’s claustrophobic assistant, Georgia Masters, out alive. But unbeknownst to the terrorists (and Peter, for a while), Georgia is also the Ambassador’s niece. Peter is equal parts soldier, secret agent and MacGuyver, and their escape requires all parts equally. This story hits the ground running and never slows down.
5 stars I received a free copy of the slow burn romantic suspense Trapped with the Secret Agent Trapped with Him, Volume 1 by Julie Rowe and this review was given freely. An enthralling, action packed, instant attraction, slow burn to mildly steamy story with realistic characters, a fair amount of violence, a touch of humor and a heartwarming ending. Just as claustrophobic Georgia Masters, personal assistant for her Uncle Theodore Mitchell, the Ambassador of the American embassy in the small Middle Eastern country of Koutu, was lamenting her boredom, the heat and the cultural restrictions, excitement arrives in the form of a terrorist attack resulting in her having to place her life in the hands of mysterious photojournalist and undercover CIA agent Peter Welis.
An admin assistant and a photographer are taken hostage in the US Embassy. Claustrophobic Georgia Masters is locked in a small, dark closet with Peter Welis. Peter is, unbeknownst to Georgia, an ex-military CIA agent working undercover. Together they discover a stash of nuclear warheads, escape via a secret tunnel in the embassy and return leading the rescue squad. Peter is not very forthcoming about his skills. I wanted him to be more honest with Georgia. Danger bang at 73%. Georgia rescues the mission at 80% by destroying fuses (chalk one up for smart girls). Reunion in Hawaii with an HEA. 3 ½ stars.
This is my first book by Julie Rowe and I really enjoyed it. I love romantic suspense books, so this one was right up my alley. The characters are very likeable and the story moves at a fast pace. There was a ton of suspense and I couldn't put it down. I work full time and read this in two sittings! Georgia and Peter meet when the Embassy she works at is captured by terrorists. Peter appears to be just a photo journalist, but has special skills that Georgia is puzzled by. Their story is filled with suspense and, even though parts of it seem very unrealistic, I still enjoyed the story. Definitely will read more books by this author!!
This was quite the high octane read for a series opener and I really loved diving right in! So much action and danger is happening that I was often on the edge of my seat wondering how things could possibly work out, and yet, there's a sizzling chemistry between the H and h that I had my fingers crossed for an HEA. Whew! What an adventure these two ended up on as they escaped capture by terrorists to try and get help for the other hostages and stop the diabolical plot. I enjoyed the banter and moments of silliness that lightened this intense story and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Georgia and Peter find true romance in a war torn city.
Ms Rowe has filled this book with plenty of suspense and action throughout. We meet Georgia first, then Peter who is more than Georgia was led to believe. The embassy was attacked and these two lead the charge by escaping, sneaking through a war torn city and ultimately Peter recognises the driver of a bus. They join up and georgia finds out that Peter is CIA. All work together and defuse the nuclear bomb, rescues the Ambassador and the remaining embassy staff. There is more action involved and the steam from these two set the pages crispy. Great book, but a more interesting read.
*I was given a copy of Trapped with the Secret Agent by the author in exchange for a voluntary and honest review."
Julie Rowe has once again written a page-turning adventure filled with a fast-paced, exciting storyline along with a strong, sexy couple. Peter and Georgia are paired up perfectly right from the moment they are trapped together beneath the embassy. Their escape into the city is filled with heart-tensing fear, but her strength to face each obstacle and his protective understanding of when she needs a hug, make this a great romantic thriller/suspense.
Trapped with the Secret Agent is a romance, so if romance isn’t your thing – I don’t recommend it. But, if romance is your thing, it’s a definite fun read. Julie writes swoon-worthy romances. Her heroes are tough, rugged, sweet, and melt-worthy. Her heroines are always smart and tough, even in the worst situations. The story is fast read, action-packed, but still heartfelt.
I enjoyed it immensely and I want another as soon as possible LOL. I’m always down to swoon, especially over a character like Peter.
This was an enjoyable read. The author's writing style was quite good with a few bits of witty dialogue thrown into some pretty high stakes situations. I enjoyed the story line of the terrorists and the embassy, although the scene in which they was a little strange. I know that in books I have to suspend my disbelief about some things, but that was a little too much suspending for me, you know what I mean? However, I'd be interested in reading another book from this author, if only for their writing style.
An American embassy is overrun with terrorists. The ambassador's niece, Georgia, is put into a cage with Peter who says he is a photojournalist. This is a thriller and a love story in one. It is a story that makes you want to keep reading. Excitement and danger along with two people falling in love through it all. I recommend this novel highly.
Good story with lots of suspense, danger and heat. Georgia comes off as ditzy at first but she is a clever heroine. Although how she didn’t figure out that Peter was special forces is beyond me. They save each others’ lives a few times and their reunion and HEA are well done, if not too quick.
That was pretty dang exciting! Georgia is great. She's strong but also able to follow instructions when needed. I didn't really understand her anger over the "secret" but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. I'm glad it was dark but not so real that it felt like watching the news.
This is a really good book, and I actually read it twice. The characters are strong and the development of the story helps give the reader a taste of being personally involved in the outcome. I recommend this book to adult readers who can deal with a close look at the dangers involved in hostilities in foreign countries and the uncertainty facing even diplomats.
This new series from Julie Rowe is a fast-paced edge of your seat thriller. That is definitely her strong suit but this series leans a little more with the romance but that does not take away from the action and suspense. I've yet to read a series from this author I didn't love.
If you enjoy edge of your seat suspense, bullets flying action, a fearless clever heroine and a hero full of secrets, you will love Georgia and Peter’s fight for survival.
