The Dream Dancers: Akashic Chronicles #1-8

The Witches of Scotland: The Complete Series, Books 1-8: Complete 8 Book Bundle of the Akashic Chronicles, an Urban Fantasy Series

It’s one thing to read about witches; it’s another thing to discover you are one.

When Glasgow law student David Hunter survives a mysterious attack, he discovers he's a descendant of a long line of witches known as Dream Dancers. Thrust into a hidden world of magic, government conspiracies, and perilous quests, David must master his newfound abilities to protect the mystical Akashic Records—the key to humanity's past, present, and future. Alongside the fiery Jessica Campbell, wise Aunt Gen, and the underworld creature Terence, they face malevolent forces aiming to manipulate reality.

Their adversary is the sinister media mogul Alicia Collins and her clandestine organization, which seeks to drain the world's energy and control the masses through manipulation and deceit. With the British and American governments entangled in conspiracy, the Witches of Scotland are the last line of defence against a global catastrophe known as "The Big Reset." As prophecies unfold and the threat of the Akashic Records being destroyed looms large, alliances are tested, secrets are unveiled, and the ultimate battle between good and evil reaches its climax.

Set in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and brimming with themes of self-discovery, media manipulation, and the quest for belonging, this complete 8-book series offers a mesmerising journey that blurs the lines between myth and reality. Follow David's transformation from an ordinary student to a powerful witch in a gripping narrative filled with fast-paced action, complex characters, and a unique blend of magickal realism and conspiracy thriller.

Quite gripping

Probably young adult audience would enjoy the most, but I'm 60. And still found it a good read. I will probably look into buying the next series (when I actually finish all the books I still have outstanding in my kindlr)

Too good to put down!

This is the second time I've read this series, first time I read them as they were released and this time all in one sitting.
The characters are so true and authentic you feel like you could bump into them in a pub. The story lines are really thought provoking and makes me want to research the subject more.
Seriously if you want an easy read, that sucks you into the world of magic and lucid dreams then don't miss this series.
I'm now off to read the Edinburgh Files again... enjoy

The Witches of Scotland (The Dream Dancers: Akashic Chronicles Series

The Witches of Scotland (The Dream Dancers: Akashic Chronicles Series ~~ I read this entire series on Kindle and listened on Audible, and I’m just going to say it straight—this was one of those series that completely pulls you in and doesn’t let go. From the very first book, you’re dropped into a world that blends modern-day Scotland with ancient magic, witchcraft, and the Akashic Records, and it just builds stronger with every single book.

The story follows a group of young characters who start off feeling pretty normal, but you quickly realize there’s something much bigger going on with them. As their abilities begin to awaken, the connection to the Akashic Records becomes the backbone of everything—past lives, hidden knowledge, and powers they don’t fully understand yet. I loved how the author slowly reveals the truth instead of dumping everything at once. It keeps you hooked because you’re constantly trying to figure out what’s real and what’s still hidden.

What really stood out to me was how the friendships and relationships develop across the series. You’re not just following one storyline ~ you’re watching multiple characters grow, struggle, and step into who they’re meant to be. There are moments where they doubt themselves, moments where they make the wrong choices, and moments where everything clicks—and those are the parts that really hit. You get a mix of loyalty, tension, a little bit of romance, and that constant feeling that something bigger is coming.

Now let’s talk about the magic system, because this is where the series really shines. The use of the Akashic Records, time, and spiritual energy adds a deeper layer than your typical witch story. It’s not just spells and potions ~ there’s purpose behind everything. And as the books go on, the stakes get higher, darker, and more intense. By the later books, you can feel that everything they’ve learned is leading up to something major.

Listening on Audible, the narration by Lianne Walker was a great fit. She brings the characters to life in a way that makes it easy to follow along, especially with multiple perspectives. And reading on Kindle let me slow down and really take in some of those deeper, more complex moments. This is definitely one of those series where doing both formats actually makes the experience better.

If I had to say anything without giving too much away—it’s that nothing in this series is random. The connections, the past lives, the choices they make… it all matters. And just when you think you understand what’s happening, something shifts and you realize there’s still more to uncover.

I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself ~ you won’t regret it.

Man. How to review 8 books in a few sentences.

The government and the rich are the problem. Conspiracy theories all have some truth to them. The pharmaceutical companies are behind every major illness, from the black plague to Covid. Humans are controlled by social media and the overall consciousness of the collective human race. Your thoughts are extremely powerful. Very, very modern (whereas I prefer to escape modern in my books). I did NOT see the ending coming.

I definitely would recommend these to any who enjoys conspiracy theory-esque books, fantasy, and history.

This author seems like such a nice person. I really hated to give this series 3 stars... honestly I would have given it 2 if I didn't feel so bad about it.
I made the mistake of downloading the whole series. Had I only downloaded the first book I wouldn't have downloaded the rest. The story had a lot of potential. It's a good storyline. But the writing left a lot to be desired. I felt like I was reading a 9th grade writing assignment. The dialogue felt choppy and blocky. There was a lot of redundancy. He definitely doesn't know how to write women. Things that were said could have been left out or conveyed with a look. At times it was painful to get through the dialogue. The descriptions of the planes were fairly good. I was able to visualize what he was getting at. The characters on the other hand need a lot of work. Like I said, he can't write women. A decent editor would have been able to delete or restructure a lot of issues with the book. The last book in the series was the only one I kind of enjoyed, even then a lot of the dialogue was so cringe worthy it made it difficult to get through. I won't be recommending this one to anyone.
Like I said in the beginning I feel really bad about giving such a horrible review. It's rare that I give a bad review. The author seems like such a nice and truly genuine person. The letters in the beginning/end of the books came from the heart. I hope he finds himself a decent editor if he writes in the future.

I read all eight of these books in one bundle. They started out fairly well, and the story as a whole was somewhat interesting, but as I got further into the series, I found the writing and editing to become weaker and weaker. So often, Aitchison would leave us with a 'cliff-hanger' at the end of one chapter or book, and in the next instance basically say 'well, never mind'. A character would decide not to do something, change their mind or shrug something off, or the 'surprise' in the next part came to nothing, so the cliff hangers were often not pertinent to moving the story forward. Characters came and went (especially Anna) and had no real contribution or purpose to the continuation of the story. Too many loose ends, too many last minute resolutions or changes that took away from the overall suspense of the stories. While reading it as a bundle allowed me to see it as one, very long, book, overall I felt the continuity between books didn't always hold up, and unfortunately I was diverted from the confusing aspects of the stories by wanting to edit lines and phrases as I went along. When the mental desire to edit the author's writing takes one out of the narrative, there's a definite problem.

This is a contemporary urban fiction, set in scotland, drawing together the concepts of magic, energy transfer and parallel universes. A literary fiction prize winner it probably is not, BUT If you are a fan of complex mythology and world building, multiverses, and the blending of science with the esoteric; If you appreciate attention to detail, relatable characters and a dash of off beat humour; and if you enjoy a whole lot of twists and turns, then you will enjoy this story.

I am a fan of all of the above. And so I did.

My only recommendation would be that you read it all the way through from book 1 - 8 in one go. They are not designed to be read well individually imo and I probably would have lost interest/momentum if Id had to wait after the cliffhanger endings of each individual book.

Excellent on so many levels. Providing indirect and direct guidance, life lessons and pulling together the disparate connections between what we perceive as reality and the unseen or forgotten side of our universe.

It’s okay. Feels rushed and like a big huge lecture about energy. For example at the end there’s a summery of all chapters in a book, about 22, why?????? Then MC starts picking a chapter and begins reading the text again why???? You’ve been given a ton of information which the characters immediately understand and can use. That’s unbelievable. Even the last battle doesn’t really feels like it’s what we’ve been leading up to. Too bad cause it could’ve been nice. Another example. After being parted of his parents David gets to meet them again and it’s like he just meets a random stranger for the first time. No depth into the emotions.

This series began a bit slow and if I hadn't purchased the 8-book audio I'm not sure I would have continued but I'm glad I did. The characters came to life, slowly, but the story really had you cheering them on. I plan on reading the next series but will wait till it's all out. I do not enjoy a huge cliffhanger when reading so if that is you as well then know that each book ends with one. Luckily they are all out so you don't have to wait. I listened and the narrator was phenomenal. Hope you enjoy them.

A very different style of Urban Fantasy.

There has been thousands of reviews for the Witches of Scotland and they were right. The best news was I bought this eight book offer for a small amount and then purchased the audio version. Brilliant, nearly thirty hours of absorbing and at times intellectually challenging as the spiritual side of enlightenment was dealt with. By this series cheap and then get the audible version, throughly recommend, it lasts hours, excellent.

Oh my God. I don’t know what I was thinking committing to the entire eight book series on audible. I couldn’t wait for it to be over. Easily one of the least engaging witch series’ I’ve read so far. Of course, this may be appropriate for a 10 year-old. I think there’s only one reference to sex in the entire eight books, so maybe I’m too old for it? I’m just glad I can move on. I honestly don’t know what the hype was all about.

A generally cool idea for the a magical world. But these books were hard to get through. So much dialogue that often felt redundant and sophomoric. An unfortunate master class in telling, not showing. Also, the female characters were clearly women written by a man. Their motivations and internal dialogue felt very unrealistic.

Such a great balance of Fantasy, action and some romance. Riveting.

Such a well written PG 13ish book, which I certainly prefer. The use of a multigenerational cast of characters was outstanding. adventures, making mistakes, learning, growing and a little romance.
I will explore more books by this author as well as the rest of this series!

A Great Story Woven Through Today's Reality

This is a great story woven through the fabric of today's reality. It potrays history and current times in an unconventional way to show how ALL life is intertwined. No one life is totally separate from all other living entities.

I loved seeing David's growth through the series, while keeping the wit that makes him likeable. And the nod to M Anderle did not go unnoticed.
