In Time for You: Knights in Time, Book 4

Rate this book
Another book in the exciting, best-selling time-travel romance series, Knights in Time.

While horseback riding in the English countryside, sisters, Electra and Emily Crippen find themselves trapped in a tear in time. Thrown back to 1357 England and caught by a local noble, they are in a place that is home but as frightening and unfamiliar as an alien world would be. With no idea how the tear in time came about, the one thing they do know they must stay together and stay near to where the event took place in hopes of discovering the way back to their modern life. That certain need to stay together is the first certainty taken from them when one sister is forced to remain in England and one is sent miles away to Wales by royal order.

There is one other hope for help the sisters don't know exists. It's Electra's lover, Roger Marchand. A time traveler himself, he never told her of his past. When he realizes what has happened to the sisters, he enlists the help of a scientist friend to help him open the suspected passageway through time. Any effort to save Electra and Emily will likely cost him his life. This was the time Roger came from, a time when his country, France, was at war with England. If he is discovered on English soil while searching for the sisters, he will either be killed or taken prisoner of war. Any risk is worth saving the life of the woman he loves.

In Time For You by Chris Karlsen is the fourth book in the Knights in Time series but the first in this series that I have read. Having already read and loved Silk, a Historical Suspense/Mystery, when I heard about this book, I jumped at the chance to read a new book by the author and that too from a different genre!

This book is a time travel romance where two sisters are suddenly transported to the England of 1300s. Their adventures there and the romance that leads a present time, time traveller back to the past in search of his love and her sister had me thoroughly entertained right till the end.

Chris' writing style is engaging and she created such vivid pictures of the past and present world in my mind that it felt like I was travelling in time myself! The protagonists are people I soon connected with and felt invested in their adventures.

The romance between Electra and Roger, Emily and Simon presented beautiful contrasts with one pair from the present and the other pair having the hero from the past. It was fascinating watching Electra and Emily find themselves in a world so different from one they were used to and how they tackled the problems they faced at having been dropped in 1357. Also I loved Simon, a medieval knight who fell for Emily and often fumbled because he wasn't used to letting a woman take the lead . Their romance had me sighing and loving each second of their scenes together.

This book is apart of a series and while it can be read as a standalone but still at places I felt at a loss because I hadn't read the previous books and there are references to the story shared in them. So I recommend that you read the books in order.

The ending also looked a bit rushed and left me wishing for more time with Emily and Simon.

All in all, In Time for You is a fun, engaging and romantic historical time travel story that had me entertained throughout. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all lovers of historical and time travel romances especially who like knights and want to visit medieval England.

I received the book from the author and the tour organizers and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

When I first read the book description of ‘In Time For You’ I was immediately interested in reading this book. A book about knights and medieval England sounds like a great read to me. And since I loved Chris Karlsen’s writing in her book ‘Silk’, I couldn’t wait to start reading this one.
Although ‘In Time For You’ is already the fourth book in the Knights in Time series, it can be read as a standalone. (Which is a good thing since I haven’t read the previous books either.)

‘In Time For You’ really was a very entertaining and intriguing read. From the very beginning I was completely pulled into the story. It was especially fun to read the way the sisters Electra and Emily responded when they found themselves in 1357. At first they were convinced they were a part of a strange real-life program for TV. And this made for some very funny scenes.
Chris Karlsen sure knows how to write a book that keeps you hooked. There was adventure, romance, historical aspects and of course time travelling. This book just didn’t get boring.

Although there is a lot of talk about the romance between Electra and Roger, I enjoyed the romance between Emily and her medieval knight Simon much more. It was fun to read about Electra and Roger and how they found each other again. But the starting romance of Emily and Simon was just so sweet and also really funny since Simon wasn’t used to a woman taking the lead. And I really loved the characters of Emily and Simon. Especially Simon since he was such a tough, but also very sweet knight.

‘In Time For You’ really is a humorous, romantic and historical time traveling story I enjoyed from the very first page. This book really made me wish I also read the previous three books in the series. Not that I missed information to get into the story, but I think I would have loved this book even more if I was a part of it from the very beginning.
I also had a view minor issues with how the book went in the end. It felt a little rushed to me while the rest of the book was very detailed. And I really wished I could have read a little more about Emily and Simon.

‘In Time For You’ is a really good read and I really recommend it. Especially if you like medieval England, knights, historical romance and humor.

This was a very entertaining read! Having read the earlier instalments in the series, I was familiar with the overall series plot and some of the characters. The book can be read as standalone, but I highly recommend you read the earlier ones for optimum enjoyment.

While the relationship between Roger and Electra is important in this story, I think Emily and Simon's love story takes center stage. Simon is one the court's knights and has been scarred terribly both physically and psychologically, thus the way their love evolves is both touching and compelling. I especially liked and sympathized with Emily. While I also like Electra, Emily seems the more kind-hearted, wilful and impulsive of the two.

There are two elements that made me love the book. One, the differences in speech and language expressions between time periods clash at times, resulting in many humorous scenes and comic relief between the action and adventure. Second, the author illustrates how women were prejudiced against and treated so differently during medieval times. We take for granted women's liberation, but it's shocking to see how very little rights women have had in the past.

The story moves back and forth between time periods to show how Emily and Electra are coping in medieval England and how Roger and his scientist friend--quite an endearing character, I must say!--come up with a way to travel back in time in order to bring them back. The ending was satisfying and felt just right.

In sum, if you're a fan of time-travel romance, be sure to pick this one up. It brings hours of fun, pure escapism.

In Time for You is a time travel romance taking place in the present and in 14th century England during the midst of the hundred year war. The main character and her sister are on a picnic with the man she loves. As she and her sister wander off to pick wildflowers, they are whisked away into the distant past. Completely out of their element, the two are whisked away by a group of knights and essentially held prisoner. What they don't realize is that this is the very world that her boyfriend came from and he will stop at nothing to rescue them.

I would first like to state that I received this through NetGalley for an honest review. That being said, this was a cute and romantic tale of two modern and independent women being whisked away into a time where women were nothing but possessions to be had. The resulting banter was amusing at times. The characters were well-written and the plot was decent, although a bit predictable at times. All in all, I liked this story and would recommend it to fans of the genre.

This is a captivating and entertaining story. It's has drama, action, humor and romance. It has a few twists too. Electra and Emily take things rather well and adapt. Roger and Oliver have hit one adversity after another. I liked that even the antagonists were actually very nice guys. I love time travel romances and this didn't disappoint.

I've always enjoyed a tale of time travel. I'm not sure what it is about the idea that fascinates me so much, but I'm captivated just imagining being in the here and now one moment and the next, being thrust unceremoniously forwards or backwards along time. Would I be able to survive? Would I know enough about the history of the place (if, indeed, I were sent back in time and not forwards) to make a go of it? Or would I just sit down and cry? Author Chris Karlsen tackles many of these same questions in In Time for You.

Sisters Electra and Emily are out for a picnic with Electra's boyfriend, Roger, when the two women are suddenly pulled from 2015 to the mid-1300's. At first, they don't understand; their minds spin tales of an elaborate movie set or reality television program. But, soon enough, Electra and Emily are forced to accept what a part of them have known since the beginning: they have traveled through time. They aren't the first in their family and circle of friends to have such an experience; but what Electra doesn't know is that the man she is in love with has also traveled through time. In his case, Roger came forward and now he'll find a way to return to the time he first came from in order to get Electra back.

For fans of historical fiction, In Time for You is a goldmine. There are tons of period descriptions and details to delight and fascinate. The story has plenty of plot points for all readers - action, history, adventure, romance, and more. I felt at something of a disadvantage because In Time for You is actually the fourth book in a series, "Knights in Time." Many references are made to past experiences and characters that, I assume, are introduced in previous stories. It was a little difficult to follow and understand, so I would recommend that readers interested in this book go back and start the series from the beginning - I'm certain doing so will only enhance the experience.

Another great read in the Knights in Time series. I really love this series and I was looking forward to reading Roger's story. This fourth book is a little bit different in that we don't see the progression in Electra and Roger's relationship. They meet at the end of book 3 and at the beginning of 'In Time For You' Roger is preparing to propose to her.
There is also a secondary romance involving Emily and Simon.
As I had already read the first three books and knew what would happen when the girls went to a certain spot and got caught up during thunderstorm, I found all the detail and questioning surrounding their disappearance to be a bit drawn out.
When the setting changed to medieval England, the pace of the novel sped up. I loved reading how Electra and Emily adjusted to their new time period and how they carved out a place for themselves. I found the secondary characters to be quite charming, in particular the two guards who were charged with escorting Electra around. They were quite funny and cute when they were competing with each other for her affections. I'm really hoping that they'll appear again in subsequent titles.
Towards the end of the story I was beginning to think that medieval England was going to be left with a shortage of knights, however the author manages to balance things out a little bit with a twist at the end.

I'd recommend this whole series and I would suggest reading it in order and in its entirety.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

My rating: 4

While this is (I think) the fourth book in a series, it stands alone rather nicely! Being a HUGE Outlander fan, I really found myself in love this the idea of this book, and I truly enjoyed every page of it. I did not read the books previous to this one in the series, and I don't feel as if I've missed out on anything (although I've added them all to my TBR for the near future)!

The story revolves around Medieval England, when a set of sisters accidentally travel back in time! The girls truly believed that they were in some strange version of a reality television show, which was actually pretty hilarious to consider. The banter was hilarious at times, I found myself laughing out loud.

There was also a decent bit of romance mixed in - the brewing attraction and connection between Emily and Simon stuck out the most to me. I really enjoyed seeing them learn how to love one another, and seeing how Simon would deal with a more headstrong woman. Also, the decisions Roger would have to make in order to keep his romance alive with Electra... you'll have to read the story to know more. I'll have to go back to the first 3 books to see where it began, for sure.

I found the story to seem pretty historically accurate and overall the plot was tasteful, and to a point believable. It was very well developed, and written. I was completely satisfied! So nice to see someone else doing a historical romance so well, that includes the time travel aspect! Really a fantastic read. Will be recommending to my other fantasy loving friends!

I loved from the first pages this historic medieval romance with different time travel. There are two romantic love story, so many twists, action, adventure, humor.
Roger is a medieval knight. He has traveled in time and now is living in 2015 in England. He knows and falls in love with Electra but has never been the courage to tell her the truth. The day he wants to propose to her, she mysteriously disappears with her sister Emily. They have ended in 1357. They are desperate, Electra without her cell phone feels lost. Soon he discovers what happened, Roger does everything to return to his time although it is extremely dangerous: he is a French knight on English soil during the war between France and England. Will he be able to save them and to save himselves?
All the characters are well defined and lovable, even the secondary. I loved the story of Roger and Electra but that between Simon and Emily is even more sweet and touching.
It's the fourth book in the series, can be read as a stand alone, I had no great difficulty understanding the story but I think to appreciate it better is preferable to read the series in order. I can not wait to read the first three books, I love stories with time travel.
The plot is perfectly constructed and well-developed, engaging thanks to continuous time jumps between the story of the adventures of the two sisters in the Middle Ages and attempts to Roger and his friend scientist in 2015 to find ways to reach them.
If you love romantic stories set in the Middle Ages and with time travel this is the perfect book for you

I found this to be a great book, I loved the setting of going back to medieval times and then really loved how the author connected the past to the future and how everything started to make sense. Emily and Electra are just awesome characters - strong and charismatic on their own without men. That is exactly what I like to see in a story - women who can take care of themselves and think for themselves. And the way they are so intelligent and start connecting the people they know from their time with the time they are in is amazing. I am a HUGE English literature fan and so the setting was a huge plus for me in the book. But how the girls handle it and are able to help themselves out of situations is wonderful. I think the characters of Emily and Electra are far more complex and developed than the rest until about midway through the book and then we start to see a lot more of Roger and how he figures it out and tries to get back to help them. I found a lot of twists and turns I did not expect in this book which is what makes it fun and exciting! I highly recommend this book to anyone as it is awesome :) Definitely right up my alley as I am in love with historical fiction and this sort of fits that bill in a way. I have not read the first 3 books, but I am definitely reading them now that I see what a great series this is!

A sweet romantic story with time travel, adventure, romance and some comedy thrown in.
Electra and her sister Emily are in for a time of their lives. One minute they are having a special outing in the field with her love Roger. Who unknown to her had some plans to ask her a very special question. The next the women are fighting for their innocence about not being witches in the year 1357. It's all about the English vs the French, Knights in shinning Armour and bad body odor. How will they cope with the year 1357 being from 2015? Can the women survive long enough to be found alive and in one piece? More or less will they ever be found?

Roger may have a sketchy past due to being a what's called a time traveler. But he's not the only one. Wanting to have a special moment with his girl Electra. He has everything prepared. But what he's not prepared for is when they disappear around the around he appeared in years before. Knowing what happened then and possibly now. Can he help the girls get back to the correct time and in one piece?

5***** Standalone Historical, time-travel romance

Being a fan of all things time-travel related and a romance author myself, I had high expectations when I started reading In Time for You. Chris Karlsen didn’t disappoint me in the least.
I don’t like reading spoilers so I don’t write them but I can safely say this is a book that will satisfy fans of a good historical fiction laced with romance and fantasy. Moreover, it’s a standalone story, which means you can read the fourth installment in the series without needing to read the previous three books. I did that but now I’ve included the other books in my ‘to be read list’. If this is any indication of what to expect I’m pretty sure I will love the other books as well.
In Time for You is historically accurate and very well-written. The author did an excellent job with both main characters and supporting ones, which are not only likeable but also believable and that is a result of the author’s abilities. As is the multi-dimensional and very well-developed plot. All these things put together make up for a smooth and entertaining read you won’t be able to put down.

I was asked by the author Chris Karlsen if I would be willing to read her book In Time For You:
Knights in Time series and give a review. I had the wonderful privilege to read the book before it's realize.

I found that this book can stand alone if you have not read the other book, which I have not read the other books in this series.I have read others of her book that I enjoyed. The author Chris Karlsen is a wonderful write and has a way of holding your interest in the story from beginning to end...

I enjoyed the story and her characters.
It is about two sister's that have been pulled back in time when
Knights where bold.. This does have historical characters in it and is a love story...I loved both
Electra and Emly... They will have you laughing at times. Electra is very bold and out spoken at
time to the point you wounder if she will not get them both in trouble... Roger is Electra's love and
a Time Traveler of such... Since he is not sure how he got to where he is and how he will go back to
save them..

Would recommend this book... A great read...

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of In Time for You by Chris Karlsen in exchange for an honest review.

There is one genre I enjoy reading more than a great romance and that’s a great time travel romance and In Time for You is one that goes on my top shelf as a truly great one!

I have not YET had the pleasure of reading the previous three books in the Knights in Time series, but I intend to add them to my virtual TBR mountain!

Ms. Karlsen has an incredible way of writing that flows so smoothly and allows me to forget I’m reading and puts me directly into the story. Her knowledge of the medieval times seems very extensive and lends authenticity to her story.

I’m very pleased to have been able to read and review In Time for You by Chris Karlsen and I highly recommend it.

I give five steaming hot cups of Room With Books coffee to In Time for You.

Roger Marchland was a Knight on the battlefield when he was whisked through time to the present day. Now he is about to enjoy a picnic with the woman he loves and her sister, when the women vanish into thin air. He has got to discover a way to find them. He is sure they have gone back in time.
Electra and Emily Crippen are picking flowers one second, then find themselves in the same place but everything looks very different. There must be some reenactment show happening.
This is a marvellous time travel romance that is obviously part of a series. I haven't read the others , but I still really enjoyed this. I must find the other stories soon. The girls have a lot more luck dealing with medieval England than the men. It doesn't help that our hero is French. Our author certainly makes the story believable. There is only a tiny bit of sex but lots of great adventure. I loved every page.

All of the Knights in Time series are worth your consideration. However, this is not a good jumping on point. The story can be read and enjoyed but you will get so much more enjoyment out of it if you've read the other three books in the series, which I strongly recommend you do. You won't regret the purchases, I assure you. With that said, we get the continuing story of Roger and Electra, who he met at the end of book three. In this installment, Electra and her sister, Emily, get thrown back into the Middle Ages and Roger, stuck in the modern world, frantically tries to find a way back to his past to rescue them. Without spoiling anything, I'd love to see a fifth book in this series dealing with Emily and Simon. If you love time travel romance, this is another winner.

Time traveling by accident. Would you follow your true love to a different time? Not return to your time in order to stay with the one you love? Hard decisions.

The fourth in a series, it stands alone quite well. A story of sisters and lovers and medieval times is woven with care. It makes for a very entertaining story, although some characters were more engaging than others. As an independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock, this one earns four fangs easily for plenty of romance!

I would recommend this series to anyone who likes time traveling medieval knights. I have really enjoyed it overall. As for this book, you should read it after the others in the series. Some things become predictable by the fourth book but there is also a lot of backstory that isn't there if you read this one as a standalone. I liked this story a lot, but as I said, it was relatively predictable in a lot of places. That said, Chris Karlsen does a good job of bringing in different historical aspects and relationships to mix it up so every book is a little bit different. I would definitely read more from this author and additional books in this series.
