Command & Care #2

Born Daddy: An M/M Daddy Romance

Rate this book
They both loved an evil man. In a wrenching journey to redemption, leaning on each other will change their lives forever.

Grief-stricken Tate Myers can’t believe his Daddy and Master is gone. Reeling from the discovery of his dead lover’s secret life as a serial killer, he seeks answers from the one person who could help heal his heart. But when coffee-shop chats with his Daddy’s best friend turn into an intense attraction, Tate wonders if he’s found the man to complete his recovery.

Former undercover cop Rogan Steele is completely blindsided when he learns his longtime buddy was a sadistic murderer. And with his own judgment now in question, he strongly empathizes with the grieving young man left traumatized and helpless. However, as their meetings fan the growing flames between them, Rogan is terrified he can’t fill the unfamiliar dominant role that Tate so desperately needs.

As their passion overpowers their hesitation, Tate aches to fully succumb to the older man’s control. If only Rogan doesn’t run away from what he was born to be—then they might stand a chance at forever.

Will the shell-shocked pair surrender to their destiny and accept love’s risk? Or will the scars from their shared tragedy destroy their future as Daddy and boy?

Born Daddy is the second book in the steamy Command & Care M/M romance Daddy/boy series but can be listened to as a stand-alone. Each installment features a different couple, and the series is connected through a common theme only. If you like wounded heroes, dark themes, and triumphs over tragedy, then you’ll adore Morticia Knight’s decadent descent into deep desire.

This book was a mix of Daddy/Boy dynamics, romance and a whole lot of angst. The premise of a love connection to a serial killer was the main draw for me. The author clearly outlined the character of Cam, Tate's previous Daddy and how much Rogan differed from him in every aspect of life. In this case I didn't mind the comparison since it was necessary. I liked the confusion and slow way both Tate and Rogan figured out their feelings. The best part was how Rogan stepped into the new to him role of Daddy for Tate, how he started from the basics and how comfortable and natural it was for him to be the caretaker. The author displayed the essence of Daddy/Boy relationship and what each man got out of it. That was well done and superbly written. Another point in favor of this book was that both characters, Rogan especially, were imperfect and very relatable.

The first part of the book was pure angst and all the suffering Tate has gone through since the discovery about his Daddy Cam being the monster and a killer. It nearly broke my heart at how he struggled. At the same time there were moments when Tate sounded a bit irritating when it came to practical matters of life as if they will just sort themselves out on their own. After a certain point later in the book the relationship became overly sweet and both men jumped into love very quickly. It was just sudden turn from the narrative. Not bad but sudden.

The suspense part I am afraid didn't deliver for me. It was very mild and I think unnecessary what with the angle the author was going for. I would have liked if she approached it differently or not at all. I liked the secondary characters and all the issues they brought with them. Had they been the focus of the plot rather than the police involvement, I would have loved it more.

The story was told from dual POV, was moderately steamy with a number of kinky things that were a bit new to me, so that was good. I liked Rogan and Tate together. They fit well chemistry wise and in life as well. Overall, nice story with a healthy dose of kink and likable characters. Copy received for my honest and unbiased review

How did he NOT KNOW??? How did he not see the signs that his now dead friend, was a serial killer? That's the question that Rogan struggles to try to understand. How did he never see it, especially when he was a former police officer? Those question go back and forth through Rogan's mind as he goes to Cam’s funeral...not for Cam the serial killer, but for Cam’s mother and perhaps to start the healing process for both of them, Tate...Cam’s "boy", and Rogan meet in the parking lot after the service and when Rogan offers Tate a ride home, he begins to learn more about his former friend...and none of it is good. Tate had no idea of what his "daddy" was...but neither Cam's friends nor the police believe that. I loved the story of Tate and Rogan and the evolution of their relationship. Tate is beside himself without his "daddy" and the realization that he is a suspect in Cam’s killings is eating him alive. It was a relief to find that he had the courage to try to talk to Rogan at all. He was honest and forthcoming about everything, even though Rogan was somewhat suspicious and didn’t understand Cam and Tate’s relationship at first. Tate having reached out to someone he could trust to help him get the structure he needed and meeting with Rogan a couple times a week provided him the outlet to discuss things and give him perspective. Rogan was a warm, caring, understanding individual that wanted to help Tate who he had begun to have feelings for. He was determined to do right by the people around him even when it made him uncomfortable. I found it a little hard to understand how he didn’t notice something was off about Cam, but as Rogan and Tate start putting pieces together it becomes clearer. It was great how he took care of Tate and took his time getting to know him...he gave Tate someone he could trust and count on. When their relationship deepens, Rogan took the time to learn and see if he could give Tate what he needed before they moved forward. It was quite an adventure to see them both learning how to be "daddy" and "boy" together.

So this is my first book from Morticia Knight and i liked.
I was immediately intrigued by the blurb, and i always loved Daddy/boy dynamic.
The way Rogan & Tate relationship started it is unusual and that's exactly what makes the story more appealing.
Tate' past and his need to be loved, to belong, made my heart ache. He is so damn sweet and for the whole book i only wanted to hug him tight.
And i loved Rogan, because despite his insecurities he embranced his true nature, without being ashamed.
Ultimately Born Daddy is a really sweet love story with low angst and hot kinky elements.

I really enjoyed this book and points for the unique set up that brings Tate and Rogan together.

This was a sweet romance blooming under some pretty horrendous goings-on as Tate is a person of interest in the murders committed by the man who was his Daddy at the time, who also happened to be Rogan's friend for most of his life. The two not only have to come to terms with their grief, the fact that Cam had them so fooled and an ongoing police investigation (Rogan is a cop, but he is not on the investigation), but also are dealing with their growing attraction and Rogan discovering that his nurturing tendencies can lead to so much more with Tate.

The story had some angst, a bit of mystery, a Daddy coming into his role, and a sweet boy who just needs to be seen and loved. Tate and Rogan had fantastic chemistry and I adored them together.

I didn't read the first book in the series and had no trouble here - although I'm going to go back for that one as I'm interested to see if their mentor, Master Zane has a story. If not, hopefully that one will be coming in the near future since I'm definitely interested.

This was rough. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this book was hard to get through.

First, I never understand why there has to be such a large age gap - 22 years. When you make one of the MC's 45 and then the other one 23, the ages show so much. Rogan is constantly apologizing for his age, and then you have the 23 year old acting like a teenager. Why can't they just be normal people and not always bring it up? It's really exhausting to read.

Then you add the kink aspect and the murder case and I was completely done. It was not done great. These detectives were awful and the drama behind it didn't make sense. It was all just filler. Literally, 90% of this book was filler.

I'm going to close the chapter on this series. I'm not sure if I'll read anything else by this author, because the first book was a 2 star for me too. Not great odds...

3.5/5

I knew I had to read Born Daddy the minute I read the premise. The idea of two men developing a daddy/boy relationship as they bond over their shared grief from finding out someone they loved had been a serial killer, had so much potential for some hurt/comfort. And while it definitely achieved that, there felt like something was missing. Tate and Rogan were likeable enough and I certainly had sympathy for their situation. I also very much appreciated how much research Rogan put into discovering what it meant to be a Daddy to Tate. His curiosity, openness, and even the inevitable initial awkwardness were handled well. It was also nice to see Tate realize the type of boy he wanted to be, after having spent so long being who he felt he needed to be to avoid rejection. What was lacking to me was honestly some chemistry. While I believed in their love and concern, there was zero tension between the two. With the story's focus on healing, I suppose it wasn't really necessary to insert additional angst, but it caused parts of the book to feel a little bland. Overall, it was well written but not quite the intense romance I was hoping for.

It was cute

It was really cute but I felt like I was missing something. It felt like I was dropped in the middle of a really good book rather than starting one. You start with Tate and Rogan already knowing one another and the story already going along like something big isn’t happening. Its a cute daddy/boy relationship with a novice daddy and a broken boy, my kind of story. The secondary characters are great but I don't think this series is a continuation so I may never see what happens with them, I'm a little sad about that. It was good but, I was asking so many questions that kinda sorta got answered along the way. Even with all of that it was still a really good book.

Decent plotline but....

Here's my issue.. A) this is supposed to be the second of a series and yet the ONLY thing in common with the first book is that there is a man who calls another man Daddy. In this way we could put a book from Cara Dee and a book from M.A. Inner together and call it a series.. There are literally NO links, cross over characters, common locations, nothing. These are completely stand alone books being touted as a series.
B) who!e the plotline, or the idea of, could be interesting; this book just drags on forever. The primary storyline could easily have been resolved, and mostly is, about halfway through this book. The main issue becomes these little add-on plot bunnies that are barely mentioned and yet leave questions that are never resolved.
The whole thing felt like trying to read a paper with a necessary word count. In other words, somewhere in this pile off fluff words lies a decent book trying to get out.

This was 300 pages too long. This doesn’t contain enough plot or sex to even be a novella. It could work as a pamphlet after editing. Literally nothing happens with the story until you meet Jace and that was at around 90% in which you get tiny bits of plot points. That’s really where the story begins but it seems like the author just stopped that tiny bit of story telling because there was enough filler to get lots of pages flips by then. If you like pages upon pages of rehashed inner monologues then you might enjoy it more than I did.

I tried many times to get into this book but it was just well... boring. 😬 And the two main MCs were over wrought. It was DNF for me. Ugh I liked book one so much I thought I would like this one too.
So disappointed 😕

3.75 stars.

Welp... I'm a sucker for Daddy Kink and this book pushed a lot of my buttons, granted not all of them, but I did enjoy it so yay!

What I Loved...

1. The Characters...
Although it took sometime to warm up to them, and connect with the, I ended up liking the 2 MCs a lot. Rogan is just a big teddy bear and Tate is a sweetheart who needs someone to belong to.

2. The Romance...
this was a sweet sweet book. although there was always the "Cam Cloud" hanging above their heads for most of the book, the two bonded naturally and it was a very fluffy coming together. Sweet touches, fleeting kisses and tender hugs.

3. The Growth...
I loved how Rogan embraced his Dormant Daddy Side, and was eager to learn, for his sake and for Tate's. he was open with his affection, his feelings and his need to be the best Daddy he can. Tate's self esteem issues were also resolved nicely. with Rogan's help, his self worth increased an he was able to believe that the connection he had with Rogan, despite the circumstances surrounding it, was real and genuine.

4. The Relationship:
This progressed nicely. they bonded over what a horrific person Cam was, how they were both blind to what he truly was. and then from there, Tate brought Rogan's daddy side to the surface. It felt believable.

5. The Steam...
this was a lowish-steam book. it was a slow burn. i understood why and i appreciated it.

What I didn't like:
- I would've like to hear a little less about Cam.
- Mitch.. his part was, for me, not important. Especially his violence.
- Rogan's parents... the way they embraced his daddiness... felt a bit off. I maybe wrong, but they didn't have to know what kind of relationship he had with Tate. something with how they all accepted it felt too sweet and too unbelievable.
- The steam: I know I said I understood the fact that it was a slow burn, but that doesn't mean i liked it lol. I needed to see more steam, especially with all the needs Tate expressed wanting, so it would have been extremely hot to see Rogan fulfilling these kinks with him.
- i wanted more closure for the epilogue... something more down the line, or something more concrete.

This Daddy/boy romance was unlike any other I've read before, not because of the romantic relationship but because of everything else going on in the background. I've never thought about what life would be like if one of my close friends or lovers turned out to be a monster, and this book took me through the gruelling aftermath. I was equal parts horrified and devastated to see how much Tate and Rogan went through as they tried to return to a semblance of normal life.

From the intense police scrutiny to being cast out from society, Tate was immediately a character I wanted to wrap in my arms and soothe. I've never been in a situation that felt as helpless as Tate's, but the intensity of his fear and despair had my own heart aching. That Rogan was the one man who believed in Tate's innocence without question showed me how strong his convictions were. I can't imagine the courage it took for both of them to reach out and try to make something beautiful from their awful situation.

Without reading the story, it may sound like the romance progressed too quickly for everything else going on, but honestly it felt right between Tate and Rogan. To me, their relationship was a natural progression of two people seeking comfort and validation from one another. The fact that Tate was the kind of boy who needed sweetness and cuddles and that Rogan instinctively wanted to provide that comfort only made their bond feel like it was meant to be. The physical side of their romance was pretty slow-paced, but once again that felt appropriate given how tumultuous everything else in their lives was.

Despite the suffering and pain these men went through, their sweet love left me with warm, content feelings in my heart when I reached the end. I can't say that things returned to how they used to be, because that's just not how life works, but Tate and Rogan are certainly well on their way to living "happily ever after".

4.5 Stars!

In the aftermath of finding out your now dead childhood friend was a serial killer, how do you reconcile that you never saw it, especially when you are a former police officer? That is one of many questions Rogan is trying to sort out as he goes to Cam's funeral to support Cam's mother. Talking with Tate, Cam's boy, after the service begins the healing process for them both.

I loved this story of Tate and Rogan and the evolution of their relationship. Tate is beside himself without his Daddy and the realization that he is a suspect in Cam's killings is eating him alive. I was so proud that he had the courage to try to talk to Rogan at all. I'm glad that he was honest and forthcoming to Rogan about everything, even though Rogan was suspicious and didn't understand Cam and Tate's relationship at first. I was happy that Tate also reached out to someone he could trust to help him get the structure he needed and that meeting with Rogan a couple times a week provided him the outlet to discuss things and give him perspective.

I liked Rogan. He was a good man, determined to do right by the people around him even when it made him uncomfortable. At first, I found it a little hard to understand how he didn't notice something was off about Cam, but as Rogan and Tate start putting pieces together it becomes clearer. I loved how he took care of Tate and took his time getting to know him; that he gave Tate someone to count on. When their relationship deepens, I was happy to see Rogan take the time to learn and see if he could give Tate what he needed before they moved forward. It was great to see them both learning how to be Daddy and boy together.

I won't lie, the killings while mostly just alluded to generically were pretty gruesome when more of the details came out, but the story doesn't dwell on it.  The details are mentioned briefly and then the story moves on.

While this is the second book in the Command & Care series, you can definitely read this one as a standalone.

John Solo does a fantastic job in bringing these men to life with distinct voices for the men when speaking as well as another tone while narrating. Was easy to follow and not get out of the story, as do with some narration. He did an excellent job in making the emotions stronger and feel these men connection grow as they become closer.

A beautiful, heartwarming hurt comfort coming to realize you were born to be a daddy story. Tate & Rogan are brought together by both having known the Kink Killer, yet being fooled to have believed he was a decent human. Together, they take part in this journey of healing and moving on from this to the heart deception. Rogan has never been a part of the kink community , yet immediately is drawn to the way Tate submits completely to him even if in just the innocence of friendship. Their building of more was a beautiful thing to see showing how much they needed each other for this new phase in their lives.

It was nice see to see Master Zane outside of his story to see how dynamic the man is to all in his orbit. You can see why from this introduction to him, his story was needed to be told.

Overall, it is a well-balanced story of introducing a new Daddy into the lifestyle where it wasn't forced, but you could feel it as Rogans calling. The heat was low in this one, but felt that was necessary for the growth of the couple, too soon would have felt forced and not in character for Rogan.

Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Command and Care series, but it is totally a stand alone, so you do not need to have read book one, Boy Issues, before this one.

I found this a much deeper read than book one! It's dark and deadly, given that Tate's previous dom/daddy (lower case d is deliberate here!) was doing what he was doing, and Tate not knowing that he could love a murderer. Rogan was one of Cam's best friends too, AND a policeman, and he didn't have a clue either!

I loved the way Rogan felt, right from the start, about being Tate's Daddy. How he wasn't sure that was what TATE wanted, and that bothered him more than it bothered him whether that was what Rogan wanted, you know? Rogan was more concerned about Tate than he was about himself. Rogan knew that Tate was not involved in Cam's activities, and he wanted to keep Tate safe from the officiers investigating the murders, but Rogan wasn't sure where this profound need to keep Tate SAFE came from.

I loved that Rogan tooks steps to learn about being a Daddy. Talking to Master Zane was very much needed, but I wish WE had been privvy to some more of those conversations, I really do! I'd love for Master Zane and his boys to have a story, I really would. I loved how Rogan bought Tate put of himself, made Tate think too, about what HE wanted from his Daddy.

Didn't see the way Rogan's other friend would react, given the circumstances I thought he would be on Rogan's side, not going off on one like Mitch does.

The best way I can describe this book is this:

A MUCH darker read than book one, but in its own way, a very much SWEETER one too. Rogan really was born to be a Daddy, to be Tate's Daddy.

5 stars

Blurb:

They both loved an evil man. In a wrenching journey to redemption, leaning on each other will change their lives forever.

Grief-stricken Tate Myers can’t believe his Daddy and Master is gone. Reeling from the discovery of his dead lover’s secret life as a serial killer, he seeks answers from the one person who could help heal his heart. But when coffee shop chats with his Daddy’s best friend turn into an intense attraction, Tate wonders if he’s found the man to complete his recovery.

Former undercover cop, Rogan Steele, is completely blindsided when he learns his long-time buddy was a sadistic murderer.

Will the shellshocked pair surrender to their destiny and accept love’s risk? Or will the scars from their shared tragedy destroy their future as Daddy and boy?

This book was real journey to redemption type, and not my usual scene, but I really enjoyed reading it.

Tate has lost his beloved daddy and everything that made him feel safe as the dead man turned out to be a sadistic serial killer. The police can’t believe Tate wasn’t aware of his Master’s crimes, or worse, helped him commit them. Tate has never been so alone and vulnerable.

Rogan can’t understand how his best friend growing up turns out to be such a sadistic serial killer. Had the signs always been there? As an experienced under cover cop (turned teacher at the police academy) what hadn’t he ever made the connections that could have saved so many young men from a horrific death? Then he meets Tate, and discovers a whole new side to himself that he had never acknowledged. Why can’t things be a straight forward as they seem?

The heat between Tate and Rogan is sizzling, but they must resist it, mustn’t they?

This book was much darker than my usual romance of choice, but it was beautifully written. The characters were strong and three dimensional, the threats from outside the relationship as strong if not stronger than the threats from within. Rogan hasn’t seen himself as someone’s daddy, but it calls to everything within him to be that for Tate. Tate has his own demons to battle is the search for what he needs.

I was gripped from the outset, and so glad I read the detailed trigger warnings associated with this book. At times hard to read, but well executed and exciting, with a HEA that was a joy. Recommended.

I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars!!

I was dying for this book before it came out because the blurb sounded so intriguing - two men with a shared connection over a serial killer they both loved in different ways. (I honestly would have checked this book out from that beautiful cover alone). It had many of my favorite tropes: age gap, daddy/boy dynamic, hurt/comfort. It delivered on all fronts and beyond.

The dual POVs were so important here. It helped me to better understand Tate's desire and need for a Daddy in his life, and I felt his frustration at the judgements other people made about the lifestyle. Tate was totally unanchored, and that feeling was so palpable at times.

I thought Rogan's transition into the lifestyle  was very believable. He wasn't suddenly a pro at everything - he knew he had a lot to learn. I recognized, right along with him, his innate nature to care and protect others. I loved his character so much.

When they finally make love for the first time, it was both sexy and beautiful. I found myself rereading that scene each time I picked the book up.

What we are told of the murders is pretty horrific. There's a slight mystery as to "why did he kill all those people," but it wasn't the focus of the book. I was happy about that. The real focus was about dealing with the aftermath of trauma and finding your place and purpose in life at a time when you feel lost and confused.

I really can't rec this enough, especially to those who have trouble understanding the daddy/boy dynamic and love hurt/comfort themes.

Read it!!

I'm having a hard time try to put my feelings into perspective on this book. First, I was so confused by the serial killer aspect of this story. It felt disjointed, which in turn made this read a struggle for me. I skimmed here and there and wasn't much invested in the relationship between Tate and Rogan. I was really disappointed in this one because I enjoyed the first book of the series.

I liked this book quite a lot. What I really loved were the MC's. Both were believable in their roles and both were perfect for each other. This was a slow burn and it made sense to be with how they became friends and what connected them. I was kinda over that whole storyline though, as it just drug on and on. Like I am sure it would be like that IRL, but on the page, I did not care to read about so tirelessly. Their connection with each other was sweet and innocent at first, and this grew into something much more. Once they both knew what they wanted, they helped each other figure out how their relationship would work. I absolutely loved that about the story. So ya, overall I liked the book, just did not love it. It is a great read though, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great introduction to Daddy Kink, as this is informative, slow burn and a great starter for this kink.

V interesting storyline

This story is about the after. A serial killer was caught and killed during apprehension, but how do those who were close to him move on? Reconciling the person they thought they knew and questioning how they couldn’t have a clue, bonds Tate and Rogan, drawing two people together who probably wouldn’t have met otherwise.
As you can imagine, there’s angst, but so much tender sweetness as well. The kink is light and mostly off page.

H/c and recovery.

Tate was with Cam for three years, before finding out the sicko was a serial killer.

When he meets Rogan, Tate's ex best friend, he thinks the guy may be the only person who understands what he's going through.

A good reading choice when you want some angst, but nothing exceptionally dark.

Rogan is new to the lifestyle, and learning from a mentor. I always find it interesting when the authoritative partner is new and learning what to do.

I'd recommend this to the right person.
I'd probably read this again.

4/5

Over come

Over coming the worst possible thing. When you have a shared trauma from someone they both trusted they turn towards the only person who would understand. Each other. The writing was good the hurt was felt, the smexy was hawt and I have quite a few questions for the side characters. The ending was ok, but I hoped for more m.

My heart broke for Tate and Rogan. Both suffered in different ways and the new surfacing feelings between them were a complete surprise. As they faced all the outside pressure and their inner, inevitable struggles, I adored seeing them find support from each other. There was a great, believable connection between them.

I really loved this. Both Tate and Rogan were wonderful characters. I loved how their dynamic wasn't all about the bedroom kink, but built on the lasting base of friendship and trust, in an amazing balance between the two aspects of their relationship.

Another great, steamy and emotionally fulfilling story by Morticia Knight.

Best book I've read in a very long time!
5++++ stars

I was given a free arc copy from the author for review.

I didn't like the first book in this series so I went into this one skeptical and it surprised me big time. So if like me you weren't a fan of book 1 give this one a chance and u won't regret it.

I seriously loved everything about this book.

I loved the plot. What a unique way of telling a great Daddy/boy love story with the added suspense of a serial killer case. It sucked me in right from the start and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. This was def a page turner you will want to read in one sitting. It definitely has angst and keeps you in suspense at times but it also makes you swoon. It's all the feels.

I loved both Mcs as individuals and as a couple. They had instant chemistry from page one and were both instantly drawn to each other yet it doesn't come off as instalove. Their connection just felt very real. Daddy Rogan has that natural caring and protective personality that made him a perfect Daddy. Even though he had no idea what a Daddy was at the start and had to learn everything, he quickly comes to realize it's just who he is. Poor Tate had gone through so much. Not only with his history of crap Daddies but also with being so betrayed and then tossed out on his own with nothing and feeling so lost. My heart broke for him. Especially when everyone had turned against him despite him being so innocent and them not believing him. I was both sad for him and scared the whole way through the book

Outstanding emotional read
Tate Myers could not believe how much his life had changed in the last couple of weeks. As he grieved the death of his master/daddy, he struggles to come to terms that he was a serial killer who had tortured and killed young men. The cops and the press were hounding him and he just didn’t have anywhere to turn. They thought he was working with his daddy and didn’t believe he couldn’t of known anything.

Rogan Steele, a former undercover cop is still struggling to believe that his long time buddy was the serial killer. He had grown up with Cam and was one of his four best friends. How did he hide this from Rogan. He got ready for the funeral because he had to go to support Cam’s mum Mrs LeBlanc’s who had been a big part of his childhood.
But he was surprised by the lack of people there. It was just him, Mrs LeBlanc's and a man that looked like he could use a good meal hiding in the back. As the funeral ended and Mrs LeBlanc's asked for space he went to leave when the young man came to him asking to have a talk, it was then that Rogan remembered that his was Cam’s boyfriend Tate.
They go to a café and as they start talking a lot of things become clear. Rogan believes Tate as he explains everything that has happened he can see that Tate just would not be able to lie and hide a secret as big as helping a serial killer. And he promised this young man that he would be there to protect him and support him. But as they start talking more and more Tate started to explain what his life was like with cam which truly shocks Rogan! Not the lifestyle not the kinks that doesn’t bother him at all what bothers him was the way that Cam treated Tate and Rogan takes it upon himself to get Tate to see with open eyes how cam didnt love him what it was abuse.
The more that Tate explained about the Daddy/boy kink Rogan started to wonder if this was a lifestyle he could enjoy??
What could come of this new friendship? Would Tate learn to trust again? And could Rogan truly be there Tate?
This was a truly emotional read for me, Not the kink I can get my head around the kink and totally understand it. In this book I think the kink is explained a lot lot more and it shows that it’s more of a caring, giving and loving relationship then what people first think when they hear about a daddy/boy relationship. But this book is so much more it’s about learning to trust again, it is about learning that there are some good people out there. It’s learning about what love is about and how you should truly feel when the person that you love looks in your eyes. I could read this book again and again it just totally blew me away. I couldn’t read it fast enough. Roll on book 3

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Now I must admit I love Morticia Knights books. So, I have high expectations when I start a new book from Morticia and let me tell you she blew my expectations away with this one.

This book is a fantastic Daddy/boy novel, but it also has such a strong plot and back story that gives it a unique feel.

If you like to have your heart torn to peace’s and slowly put back together, then you will love this one, just have two or three boxes of tissues handy as the tears will flow.

Rogan Steele is a police officer, though these days he is a training instructor and not active in the field. Is reeling from finding out his best friend who has just been shot dead by the police, was a sadistic serial killer. Not only is he dumbstruck by the news, but he is now questioning his own ability to judge people’s character.

Putting aside his feelings and anger of Cams actions he attends the funeral, as who else will be there to support Cams mother, it is not her fault that her son was a monster.

Tate was Cams boyfriend and submissive boy, he relied on Cam to make decisions for him, to guide him in life. Now he has nothing and no one. He is falling deep and fast into an abyss. He just can not fully function without someone to take charge.

After the funeral is over Tate manages to build enough courage to approach Rogan. They go for a coffee and a chat. It is obvious that their feelings are similar from denial of what Cam did, to anger and even hate, but also grief not just of Cam, but the relationships they had with them, was any of it real.

We follow these two grieving guys as they help and support each other the best way they can, after all they do not really have anyone else to turn too. Their feelings for one another slowly develop but neither believe that Rogan would be able to be the Daddy and authorities figure that Tate desperately needs. Until Rogan kind of realises he is already taking on part of the role, especially in fighting Tate’s corner when police harass him constantly,

This is a very touching and heartfelt story that is full of deep emotions. I tried to place myself in both characters shoes and was left wondering how you come to terms with such news.

Characters are perfectly portrayed and the plot and pace are spot on, just like I would expect in a Morticia Knight Novel.
