The View from the Top

Rate this book
When a driven businesswoman from Boston collides with a free-spirited artist on a Vermont mountainside, they share a memorable—and steamy—night, but life soon pits them against each other over the fate of a family business.

Emily Janssen prefers to play it safe. At thirty-five, she’s still working at the inn her grandmothers own while dreaming of a day when she’s able to support herself fully with her art. And while her friends have all hiked to the summit of the mountain in their hometown of Crescent Falls, Vermont, something has always held Emily back.

Diana Devlin has already made it to the top. Well, almost. She’s this close to securing the promotion that will put her in line to take over as CEO of her family’s hotel chain when her father retires. Everything is going to plan until an unexpected run-in with an alluring artist on a mountainside throws Diana off course, resulting in one of the hottest nights either she or Emily have ever experienced.

Emily walks away from their rendezvous feeling inspired to channel some of Diana’s confidence and finally chase her dreams. For Diana, it’s a reminder that with the right woman, she is capable of wanting more than one night.

But their growing passion threatens to burn them both when they learn that the hotel Diana’s in town to buy is none other than Emily’s grandmothers’ beloved inn. It’s Emily’s home, and no big city outsider—not even Diana—is going to take it away from her.

Will the view from the top be worth the climb, or will they both have farther to fall?

Rachel Lacey is one of my favorite authors when it comes to romance novels. She can write the characters' stories and actions with incredible sensitivity and empathy.

In Crescent Falls, a small town in Vermont, Diana, the businesswoman from the big city, and Emily, the local artist, spend the hottest night ever. Believing they will never see each other again, they part, only to realize the next day that they have more in common than either of them would like.

Diana is an outwardly smart and tough businesswoman, but she has a few demons to deal with, caused by herself and her family. As a lone fighter, however, she is not used to talking to anybody about it.

Emily leads a sheltered and contented life, but something special is missing. If only she could finally find the courage to realize her dreams and take a risk. Contentment cannot be the goal, more must be possible.

The attraction and chemistry between the two are over the top and sizzling, and despite their agreement to be just friends, at some point, they can no longer resist the attraction. What begins casually soon becomes far more than casual and brings with it new challenges. Will they take the plunge and try to find a common path or will they chicken out and lose the love of their lives?

We follow the two as they struggle through ups and downs. Slowly they face their fears and worries, open up to each other, and are vulnerable, true to the motto "fuck fear". They encourage and support each other to take risks.

Their friends and a few family members help them along the way. It's a wonderfully diverse group of people, which also adds depth to the story. Rachel also tackles some difficult topics like anxiety, homophobia, and fear of loss that no one likes to talk about but are necessary.

Rachel Lacey has done another great job. As always, this heartwarming story has good dialogue, humor, good people, and hot sex scenes - and I mean HOT. Also, the setting is beautiful and makes me want to visit Vermont. And I hope someday we will get more from this diverse group of Crescent Falls.

Thank you to Rachel Lacey for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A delightful one-night-stand-to-forever sapphic romance! Diana and Emily were fantastic main characters, and the side characters were just as thoughtfully written. I especially appreciated the inclusive representation of the LGBTQIA+ community throughout the story—always a pleasure to see. And let’s not forget the steamy scenes—they were exceptionally well done and full of detail!

The only thing that left me a bit puzzled was the subplot with Emily’s best friend, Alex. Early on, it seemed like there was tension in Alex’s relationship with her girlfriend, Frankie, hinting at a possible toxic dynamic. I thought this would become a bigger part of the story, maybe with Emily stepping in to support her friend. But instead, it was suddenly resolved without much explanation, leaving it feeling somewhat unresolved. It seemed like an unnecessary thread if it wasn’t going to go anywhere, especially since it took up space that could have been used to further explore the main plot.

༊*·˚☆ 3.5 Stars ☆⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

This ended up being exactly what I wanted in the moment - a sweet, low angst sapphic romance set in small town Vermont.

“Feel the fear and do it anyway.”

◛⑅·˚ ༘ ♡ My Thoughts *ೃ༄

Even though the whole story didn’t actually take place in Autumn, this still delivered on my Fall vibes! The MCs start out with a ✨spicy✨ encounter and then meet again months later where the Fall festivities ensue. 🧡

ೃ⁀➷ Diana is a born and raised Boston city girl and a badass businesswoman. She’s driven, assertive, and knows what she wants and goes for it. I loved it. But on top of that, she’s also compassionate and thoughtful especially with her nephew, Carter. Their relationship was so very wholesome. I really liked her character.

ೃ⁀➷ Emily works at an inn in small town Vermont but is also an artist aspiring to work on her art full time. She’s a character that lets her fears and insecurities drive her and even though it didn’t make her the most likable character, I could see where she was coming from. She’s slow to warm up but ultimately sweet and caring to those she’s close to.

I’ve read a few books now by RL where she’s incorporated an anxiety rep, and I think she does a really good job with it here. It was pretty relatable and not too over the top.

Now, I’m all for pining and a good slow burn, but I would’ve liked more instances where the MCs could’ve interacted. After their initial encounter very early on, it felt like the story slowly dragged over the 50% mark before we really got more solid scenes that showed them connecting.

Also, there are a lot of side relationships set up in this story (most likely intended for future books), but for me, it took away from the time we could’ve had with Dianna and Emily. I find this is the case with a lot of these standalone series romances that set up all future couples in the first book. It always feels like the first couple lacks the time and focus that others get. I’d be interested in reading about some of the other couples though!

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

This cover is exactly the vibe I’m looking for 🍁🪵🍂

One night stand

Hoping this is a cute fall romance - I need it 🧡

The View from the Top starts off SUPER fast-burn smoldering HOT... annnnd then does a total gear shift into the slowest sloth-burn of all time. The middle chunk of the book definitely had me lingering in solid 4-star territory - enjoyable, well-written, but not a lot happening, and very drawn out.

But oh… oh that ending! Good things really do come to those who wait, and in this case, the view from the top? Absolutely, unequivocally worth it. Lacey sticks the landing in the most emotionally satisfying, full-heart way. That final stretch bumped this book right into 5-star, new-favourite status for me.

The View From the Top is an entertaining and sexy romance - and now one of my top two favorites in Rachel Lacey's catalog along with Stars Collide.

When Corporate hotel chain executive Diana Devlin travels from Boston to Vermont hoping to acquire a boutique hotel and solidify her standing to take over the family business, the last thing she expects is a night of passion with a woman who will shake her to her foundation. And when that woman - Emily Janseen - turns out to be the granddaughter of the hotel owners who is dead set against her beloved home being sold, what started off as fantasy material turns out to be uncomfortable to say the least. It was just one night - surely they can move on and behave professionally towards one another. However difficult that may be because of how much they revealed about themselves the night before. The circumstances change when Diana's professional life takes an unexpected turn, and they have to navigate what that could mean for their professional and personal lives.

This book is a master class in writing chemistry between characters. Emily and Diana‘s chance meeting results in an off-the-charts smoking hot encounter. That first, extended love scene is more than just ooohs, aaaahs and body parts. They opened themselves up to one another, expecting never to see the other again. Listeners may need smelling salts when Quinn Riley performs it on audio!

Both Emily and Diana are such likable characters with interesting backgrounds. They’re refreshingly real, imperfect and have to deal with separate family issues. Diana struggles with anxiety. Emily struggles with abandonment issues. Setting plays a significant role in the book with Vermont coming across as an almost idyllic place.

There are also strong, diverse supporting characters including Diana’s nephew Carter, who reveals a different side of his aunt who generally presents herself as somewhat cold and aloof.

I was completely invested in Diana and Emily's story and am so excited that we'll see more from the characters in what is to be the first of a new series.

Update after audiobook listen:

Really enjoyed it, as expected! Quinn Riley brings the emotion - and the heat - home. Pick this one up!

Rachel Lacey never disappoints and neither does Quinn Riley. The latter narrating a story by the former is always a sure bet. Each book by Rachel Lacey is a promise of warmth, of love, of a satisfying balance between angst and spice, with some character growth and empowerment thrown in. Quinn Riley’s voice, her range, her acting skills complement Lacey’s writing ideally, infusing her own light and the perfect dose of vulnerability as she brings the characters to life.

The main characters in The View from the Top are Emily, who embodies the contentedness of living in a small town, and Diana, from a wealthy, corporate, Bostonian family. Emily loves her life and doesn’t want to see it change. When she finds out her grandmas are considering selling their inn to a corporation, she feels her world crumble. All the more so as the person acting on behalf of the corporation is the woman she just shared an incredible one-night stand with.

At the very beginning, a tiny part of me was worried that the premise seemed similar to Read Between the Lines (the big corporation ruining the small business while sparks fly between the representative of the former and the owner of the latter), but it was actually very different. There’s no David fighting Goliath. There’s, however, a lot of growth, finding oneself, getting out of one’s comfort zone, family issues (biological and found), empowerment. And humour and spice and all things nice.

This audiobook was the perfect escape, and I have to say, having met both the author and the narrator, they are some of the nicest people on earth, and while I try to ignore my feelings about creators I dislike while reading their books, I’ll on the contrary allow all the good ones to add to my joy of reading. And so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that hearing Quinn Riley read the acknowledgement page and what Rachel Lacey wrote about her made my heart glow. She deserves all the compliments, and the respect they hold for each other makes it even better. In the end, the ones who benefit the most from this is us, the readers and listeners. 4.5⭐️

Diana and Emily’s romance was so dreamy! *sigh* the ammount of times I’ve said I want what they have while reading this book. Rachel always writes my favorite f/f books.

Everything in this book worked for me. The small town setting, the fall season, the found family, the one night stand turned workplace romance… Very very very my thing. Emily and Diana’s slowburn after their one night stand was almost torture but I loved them so much. Seeing them slowly falling in love while trying to resist each other was beautiful but scary taking into account Diana’s time in Crescent Falls was limited. I knew I could trust Rachel and I love how things ended up for them.

I have no idea if other characters are getting books but I realllly hope so. I am not ready to leave these wonderful characters or town!

Are you looking for a Hallmark holiday movie but R rated and in sapphic book form? If so, this one is for you. It starts with a very steamy one-night stand that kicks the book off with a bang, and then morphs into pining and sexual tension that you could cut with a knife. I found one scene to be particularly funny/cruel (the box one). I enjoyed the deeper themes sprinkled throughout with mental health and liked that extra layer to the story. Also, I don’t even like hiking but this book made me want to do the hike, if only it was real!

Thank you to the author for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

My absolutely last read of 2024 and I’m glad I ended with something that put a little sunshine in my winter days. Emily is an artist living in a small Vermont town. Diane lives in Boston but she has come to town looking to buy Emily’s grandmothers’ inn. Although it is a city mouse vs country mouse romance, the book is more importantly about a person having the courage to take a leap of faith. Due to her past, Emily struggles with change and trust. Diane is confident in her own business acumen but is unsure if she will ever be ready to open her heart to someone. The secondary characters like Diane’s nephew, Carter, and Emily’s Adventurers Club are fun and add depth to the story. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Quinn Riley, was a perfect choice.

This might actually be my favorite Rachel Lacey work so far. Set in picturesque Vermont, this has that city-girl-meets-small-town-girl vibe, but the story didn't feel tired at all. The main leads are likeable and relatable. There's just enough angst to keep things interesting, but as a whole this was a quaint, lovely story about two people falling in love and breaking through self-imposed limits together.

Rachel Lacey makes it impossible not to fall for one, if not both of her MCs EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. In The View From The Top, it was both because I found it impossible not to be drawn to Emily and Diana. Emily thrives on connection and hates change, and Diana is fiercely independent and isn’t afraid of going after what she wants.

After an incredibly hot one-night-stand, it seems that Diana and Emily are polar opposites. Diana is a city woman, striving to reach her goals and not letting anything stop her. Emily loves Cresent Falls and nature and knows what she wants, but isn’t sure how to grasp it. It doesn’t take long before similarities begin to arise, which quickly enhances their attraction to one another.

Diana is following the path she has set for herself, but when it leads her back to Emily’s small town, the two women quickly butt heads. Things become strained as they are forced to work together, but it isn’t long before friendship grows along with their feelings. During this time, Diana loses the one thing she has worked towards her entire career, while the stability Emily relies on in Cresent Falls is put to test.

Lacey has no trouble transporting the reader to the mountains of Vermont with her ability to write scenery in a vivid and meaningful way. It’s impossible to get through the book without wanting to visit Cresent Falls. She blends this with a sweet romance that is light yet full of spice. The View From The Top is a perfect example of a Sapphic romance with the right elements resulting in a five-star story.

The View from the Top by Rachel Lacey did not disappoint! This spicy one-night-to-forever small-town romance is set in a fictional Vermont town steeped in natural beauty and friendly folks. Big city businessperson Diana is in town for the night to meet with the local inn owners to discuss a possible purchase by her family's hotel management corporation. She spends a passion-filled evening with Emily, who, unbeknownst to her, is related to the impending business venture. Both women catch feelings, but, of course, complications ensue.
The setting is lovely and so well-written that I was immediately immersed and remained throughout. The main characters are genuine and believable, and I really enjoyed both personalities. Their opposite traits balance one another well, and the chemistry is fire. I also appreciate their ages being 35 and 40 yrs old.
There is a great group of found family and supporting characters. The diverse cast includes many of the letters under the queer umbrella and provides a welcoming environment.
Trigger warning for homophobic family and child rejection.
Both mains struggle to overcome personal issues while stretching themselves out of their comfort zones.
Kudos for safe sex practices, interracial relationship rep, queer affirmation, mental health rep, and positive coping mechanisms.
I thoroughly enjoyed this little love story and highly recommend it for the HEA warm and fuzzies. A sweet little epilogue was included.

I will be very short as this week is hectic, but I enjoyed very much escaping reality and immersing myself in the beautiful mountains of Vermont and reading about Diana and Emily, and all the other characters. I am sure there will come more stories out of The View from the Top and I'll read them for sure.

F... fear. Keep on trying to reach your goals.

Low angst. City vs small town main characters. 360° queer representation. Spicy and romantic. One night stand (to die for) to forever.

My favorite scene, the picking up of the pumpkins and the corn field maze.

"View from the Top" by Rachel Lacey is a captivating romance that masterfully weaves together themes of personal growth, family ties, and the irresistible pull of love. Set against the charming backdrop of Crescent Falls, Vermont, this story follows the lives of Emily Janssen and Diana Devlin—two women whose paths collide in a way that changes everything.

Lacey’s writing style is one of the novel’s standout features. She has a way of creating a world that feels both cozy and vibrant, filled with wonderful characters who linger in your thoughts long after the final page. The found family aspect of the story adds warmth and depth, making Crescent Falls feel like a place you’d want to visit—and maybe even stay a while.. or live.

The romance between Emily and Diana begins with a steamy one-night stand after meeting on a mountainside, a scene that’s as sizzling as it is pivotal to their story. Lacey doesn’t shy away from steamy sapphic scenes, and the chemistry between these two women is palpable. But what’s truly impressive is how this initial spark grows into something much more profound. Both characters undergo significant growth, which is one of the most inspiring aspects of the novel.

Emily’s journey is one of self-discovery and bravery. Her character growth—staying true to herself while allowing for evolution—is a beautiful exploration of the origins of our life plans and the courage it takes to chase our dreams. Emily’s decision to say “fuck fear” and take a chance is both relatable and empowering.

Diana’s arc is equally compelling. Lacey does a fantastic job portraying Diana’s shift from her original career path into something entirely her own. Watching Diana pivot from her predetermined corporate future to a new, self-defined purpose is incredibly inspiring. It’s a reminder that growth often requires stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing the unknown.

Mental health and anxiety representation is another important aspect of this novel. Lacey handles these topics with care, adding layers to the characters that make them feel real and relatable. The way Emily and Diana help each other navigate their anxieties and grow—both together and separately—is a testament to the strength of their bond and the beauty of their relationship.

"View from the Top" is a beautifully written, emotionally resonant story filled with steamy romance, inspiring character growth, and heartfelt exploration of love and life’s challenges. Rachel Lacey has crafted a novel that not only entertains but also inspires, making it a must-read for fans of contemporary romance, especially those who appreciate strong, well-developed characters and a touch of found family. I’m already eagerly awaiting Lacey’s next book!

Thank you to Rachel Lacey for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4⭐️ This is like a warm cup of chilli hot chocolate, with marshmallows, on a cool late autumn evening. Charming well developed characters, spice, well done rep (mental health, LGBTQ+), in an enchanting setting (Crescent Falls, I look forward to visiting again).

For me there was something missing, with the pace a little slow, angst not quite hitting the spot, and chemistry, that started so so strong, fizzling a little in the middle.

Overall, a sweet and enjoyable read, that I’d recommend particularly when you haven’t got the reserve for an emotional hangover after the last page!

I throughly enjoyed this book. Both main characters were likable and well developed. The side characters were also well written and the relationships with their MCs helped to define them.

Emily was very nice person, always upbeat and friendly. Caring about her friends and family. I liked her artistic talent and how the author described her paintings. She made them come alive and were easy to visualize. Diana was a tough business woman used to getting her own way, a power driven executive. This was an opposites attract story that was believable as written. Maybe this could happen in real life, In my experience I can't see a woman liked Diana falling for a less accomplished person, other than for a one night stand.

The intimate scenes were very hot and spicy and were a big part of the story.

I liked the rural setting in Vermont and all the outdoor scenes. Especially the Halloween Fall festival, that was a lot of fun.

Wonderful! Rachel Lacey at her very best. And brilliantly brought to life by Quinn Riley in the audio version :).

Ms. Lacey talks about her having moved to Vermont, the setting for The View from the Top, and she brings the environment vividly to life here, with the fall colors flaming almost as much as the burning attraction between Emily and Diana.

And burn that does in this achingly addictive slowburn that teases and tempts its way into your heart before finding “the top” and paying off wonderfully.

The setup and situation the two MCs find themselves are both wonderfully organic ensuring the plot progresses and feels real, while at the same time kind of a fantasy given the technicolor setting. Best of both worlds, as it were!

The author hit superb heights recently with Stars Collide and Cover Story, and, a week after finishing The View from the Top and finding it resonating even more than those beloved titles, I think this is Ms. Lacey’s best work to date.

If you love organic and real and, oddly a dose of fantasy feels thrown in, together with two leads to fall in love with, The View from the Top is sure to peak you interest :).

Thank you to Rachel Lacey, who recently ran a giveaway of some books to cheer us newsletter subscribers up following recent political news. I was lucky enough to win a copy of this on audio! Lucky me. Still, I’m on record here as giving my true opinion and recommendation for this book.

(rounded down from 4.25)

This was a sweet and easy read. I was a bit frustrated with the three-chapter sex scene right at the beginning of the book because I've not had time to get to know these characters or become invested in their relationship but once that was done, it was smooth sailing through to the inevitable happy ending.

GAHH!! Let me just gush for a moment about how much I needed this story in my life!! First of all, I am (without shame) an absolute sucker for Hallmark movies. But most hallmark movies with the exception of a few only feature cishet people. The View from the Top gives all the quintessential Hallmark movie vibes in book form - but it’s sapphic and super queer!! Plus right off the bat we get this super sexy multiple chapter long one-night-stand that will make you 🥵🥵🥵!!

I mean, seriously - what’s more Hallmark than your one-night-stand turning out to be the corporate bigwig trying to buy your family’s small town inn?? And add into that fall vibes and festivities, a nearly tragic turned adorable meet cute, a cast full of lovable side characters you wish you could be friends with, a cute rescue sparrow named Jack, and insanely wholesome sapphic grandmas running a quaint little LGBTQ+ friendly inn in Vermont! What’s not to love?🥰

There was also SO MUCH amazing representation in this book. There were main and side characters with anxiety, characters that made up every letter of the queer alphabet, family trauma that was being unpacked, the most heartbreaking yet heartwarming backstory between Emily and her grandmas, cis and trans characters, characters of different races and ethnicities. I love that Rachel Lacey has started to include more and more representation in her books. It makes me happy to see!

If you love hallmark movies but wish they were queer and spicy - go read this book!! Then come gush about it with me! I adore all these characters so much and I want to live in this story and go on hikes and go to trivia night and pick pumpkins in the dark and all the things!

I received an advance copy from the author and this is my honest review.

This was thoroughly enjoyable.
I adored the way Diana and Emily met. I loved the development of their relationship, and how it progressed from that sexy as fuck one night stand to the end of the novel.

A small Vermont mountain town, an alluring visitor from the big city and a scorching hot one night stand with a charming local artist. This story is everything. It’s the best Rachel Lacey story I’ve read and I’ve read them all!

I received an advance copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Diana Devlin is on her way to the top of her family’s hotel business. She has her eye on the big prize: being CEO. The last years Diana has been making herself invaluable by growing the business branch that buys quaint boutique inns all over the country. Now, she has her sights set on a charming inn in Crescent Falls, Vermont. A day early for her meeting with the owners, Diana sets out to explore the mountains and decides to hike to the top of Crescent Peak. Overly confident she starts hiking, only to get lost halfway along the trail. As anxiety sets in, Diana tries desperately to find her way back when she spots a woman painting on the mountainside. The woman is every bit as beautiful as the painting she is creating. Local artist Emily Janssen is a sight for sore eyes. Diana invites Emily over for a drink at her hotel as a way of saying thank you for saving her from the mountain. A drink that results in the hottest one night stand Diana has ever had.

Emily Janssen loves her hometown of Crescent Falls. She is an artist at heart, but somehow she is too scared to rely on her art full time. Therefore she works parttime behind the desk at her grandmothers inn. Emily was raised by her grandmas after her mother left her as a kid to go explore the world. She loves them dearly and she adores the queer friendly inn they’ve created. Imagine her surprise that the woman she spent last night with tangled in the sheets, turns out to be the hotel chain executive that is interested in buying her beloved inn. Somehow Emily can’t deny her magnetic attraction to Diana, how in the world will she be able to work with the woman for two months when Diana swoops in to smooth over the ownership transition?

Oh my goddess, I LOVED this book!! I’m a fan of Rachel Lacey’s writing, but this one is definitely the absolute best. I fell in love with both Emily and Diana from the start. When I say their one night stand is hot, it’s a huge understatement. These two women could make a nun leave the convent!

Of course a flaming connection is just a small part of the story. Emily and Diana have a lot to work through within these pages, they both stumble around dealing with changes both professionally and personally. They are very different characters but somehow they lift each other to a new level of growth. I loved seeing them open up to each other as the story progressed, both learning that being seen wholly is an incredible gift.

The hike to Crescent Peak meanders as a red thread throughout the story. Emily has never made it to the top despite having lived in Crescent Falls her whole life. It somehow became an insurmountable challenge after her first disastrous try when she was ten. Of course Diana’s first attempt wasn’t successful either, so the hike becomes an ultimate goal for them both.

The relationship Diana has with her family is complicated to say the least. Her nephew Carter is struggling in the same ways that Diana had, being gay and feeling restricted by the harsh family environment. Their relationship grows stronger when Carter moves in with Diana after being thrown out by his dad, Diana’s brother. Diana is such a kind hearted soul, being the confidante her nephew needs and the support system he craves at that time. Carter does the same for Diana in his own way.

Emily’s friend group The Adventurers forms a lovely group of side characters. (I am hoping we’ll get to see more of their stories in the future!) The friends support each other but also tease relentlessly. It’s hilarious to watch their interactions. Diana feels anxious and insecure about fitting in at first, but after she becomes more vulnerable with Emily, she feels supported and can let go of her insecurities.

I think I could write a novel myself about how I much adore The View From The Top, but you know what, you’ll have to just read it for yourself. I assure you, you don’t want to miss this one!

3.5⭐
I wanted to love this so bad, especially since everyone else seems to love it, but I just didn't.
This is not a bad book by any means, I just didn't love it like I thought I would.

For roughly 50% of this book I was just bored.
They did have cute scenes, especially the last ~100 pages I really enjoyed.
But there was just so much happening (or not happening) that was extremely boring.

Usually I love all the side characters in her books, but I didn't care for any of them in this one.
They rather annoyed me if I'm being honest.
There were just too many scenes with mentioned side characters (which I honestly just skimmed) and that ruined it for me.

I always appreciate mental health representation and I really like how the author writes about that in her books.

I did still enjoy the writing and I find the authors books extremely easy to get through quickly.
I always want to binge them, even with this one.

In all honesty I would have probably rated this lower, or not even finished it, if it wasn't a book by Rachel Lacey.
I am happy that I finished it though, since I loved the last ~30%.

Rachel Lacey has become one of my go to authors. Her books always provide such comfort and have wonderful, relatable, likable characters. I have come to expect great things from her writing and I have yet to be disappointed.
The View from the Top is another book that captivated me from the first page. Diana and Emily have a chance meeting when Diana gets lost on a hike, that leads to a very sexy night. This is by far the hottest scene Lacey has written and it is a scorcher! The two women don't anticipate seeing each other again, only to discover later that Diana is in town to buy Emily's grandmother's inn.
Trying to fight the attraction proves too difficult and the women agree to a no-strings arrangement since Diana's stay in the idyllic town is temporary. If only they could avoid catching feelings.
I haven't been to Vermont, but this book makes me want to leave work right now to visit. It's charming and as important a side character as Emily's grandmothers or Diana's nephew. This book is a like a warm cup of cocoa on a cool fall evening or a snugly blanket. You can't help but want to wrap yourself up in it and read it front to back in one sitting.

An ARC was received from the author for an honest review.
