But during the World Trade Center attacks, Gene has escaped – and is befriended by Butch of Texas. The US government mounts a nationwide search, but Butch does his best to hide Gene. With the help of Butch’s close friends, Gene avoids being captured by the government despite the government’s efforts of finding him. They have used every asset at their disposal – satellite coverage, phone taps, vehicle trackers, and transmitters – but still, Gene is kept in a safe hideout.
But things get more complicated when Gene meets Leslie. As Leslie becomes pregnant, Gene and his protectors must double their efforts to develop plans that will keep them all safe. But how long will they be protected in their safe haven? Listen to find out.

A terrific, exciting read!
Texas author Jim West continues his fascinating series DNAlien with this second installment that further explores the primary character Gene, or as the author wisely informs - GENE (Genetic Embryonic Nucleus Enhancement) – who is a new form of life combining DNA taken from alien bodies with a normal human embryo. Now after 9/11, the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base discovers Gene has escaped. His Texas ally Butch aids his hiding, and a treacherous search by the government ensues. To add to the drama Gene meets Leslie and personal problems mount.
West’s keen ability to join history with sci-fi makes this fiction novel credible, as is evident in the following passage from the Prologue that provides background for this story: ‘Mr. Ray Downey took Gene to a small ranch just north of Azle, Texas, and Gene had his first brush with civilian life. It was while there that the traumatic events of the day exploded across the face of America. The cowardly attacks of the Islamic radicals on the World Trade Center towers ultimately provided Gene with both a chance of escape and ultimately provided the cover story the government needed to mount a nationwide hunt to recover the item they could not admit they had’ – Gene!
A true page-turner, this novel explodes with fascinating events, securing the readers attention to the very last page, creating fervent anticipation for the next installment of this successful series.
