A contemporary fantasy romance full of magic, mystery, and passion. Wracked with unending guilt and torment, Brynn must find a way back into the shadowy realm of Fae to rescue his imprisoned comrades. Only one person can help him undertake this dangerous mission, a witch named Fenora. His love. However, Brynn must set aside his feelings for the exotic sorceress and follow his sense of duty, knowing he will not survive.
Fenora thought her dealings with the Fae were finished. However, the arrival of Brynn and the Shadowstone, as well as the unexpected voice calling to her from her garden, was evidence her dealings with the other worldly creatures were far from over. Torn between her sense of duty as a witch and her love for the tortured ancient warrior, Fenora must, once again, unravel the mystery and magic of her destiny.
Together Brynn and Fenora must bring home those trapped in the unearthly realm, despite a shocking revelation that will threaten their future together.
For my This story has some unresolved plot lines that will continue in book three, however the conclusion of this story remains satisfying. Mature content.
Starting from where we left off at the end of The Guardian (book 1 in the Shadowstone Legend Trilogy) The Ghost is just as magical and intriguing.
Brynn the brother of Cailen is struggling to adjust to the modern world, not helped by the fact that he is plagued by guilt from the last night he lived in his original time. Luckily the comfort and connection he has with Fenora helps ease his tormented soul.
Book 2 centres mainly around Fenora and her journey into coming into her own magic as she agrees to help Brynn help rescue his men from the fae realm. Needless to say, it is no easy task. Once again, they refer back to the Shadowstone poem which they have to decipher once more for this new venture.
Each step taken finds Fenora’s magic growing and as she trusts her intuition, she is guided by her ancestors in unearthing what is needed to safely rescue the two warriors that were trapped with Brynn. During these discovers Fenora learns more about her history, that of her land and unearths more of the story surrounding the Shadowstone.
More cryptic messages are found along the way; all written in the same rhythmic verse of the original poem and hidden in all sorts of places.
The romance between Brynn and Fenora is sizzling; their connection is primal and fierce, and I can’t wait to see what their future holds.
An unwelcome visitor from Fenora past spells trouble and you know from the start that something isn’t quite right with him. His appearance also leads to the introduction of important characters that are stuck in fae.
The Fae realm is an intriguing place. The introduction to the new characters whose connections to the principle characters propel the story forward, but also provide a glance into the chain of events that took place so long ago. It was interesting to learn about the natural resources that were harmful to faes and to learn a little bit more about how these creatures operated. I was glad to see that Ewan played such a huge role yet again. His role remains of the wise old man whose knowledge and kindness is so vast.
It was great to catch up with Cailen and Rebecca and seeing a glimpse of life after their adventure with the Shadowstone.
Angela Aaron has a real talent for writing fantasy. The isle of Mull and Skye in Scotland are beautiful locations and with the vast greenery and history of Scotland it is so easy to get lost in the history and myths of this world. Reading these books always makes me want to visit these islands.
Not only do I feel as though I am roaming the beauty of Mull and sneaking along the corridors in the fae realm, but I actually feel as though I am watching Fenora as she conducts her rituals on the important holidays. The details regarding magic and spells are fantastic.
All in all, a wonderful second instalment which ends with a massive reveal that had my jaw on the floor. I cannot wait to read the third and final instalment in this trilogy. Fantastic read.
And if you love fantasy romance, I recommend you check out Angela’s other titles.
(This book was received from author in exchange for an honest review.)
The Ghost – Shadowstone Legend by Angela Aaron was magical. One of my favorite things about The Ghost is the poem that is in both books. I loved “watching” Fenora try to figure out it’s hidden meaning. I can’t wait for book 3 so I can find out if she succeeds.
