I stalk her with a hunger that burns like the thirst for blood.
Stephan
She senses me.
She’s supposed to be my prey, but I want more than her blood. I want to possess her—every part of her.
She’s mine.
But I’m a vampire, and she’s a mortal.
Our story is doomed before it ever even begins.
So I do the only thing I can.
I stalk her.
Elena
I think I’m going crazy.
I feel like I’m being watched, but there’s never anyone there.
And I dream of glowing eyes…eyes that look at me like they want to devour me.
To top it all off, I lose my job.
I don’t know what I’m going to do.
Until I’m mysteriously offered a job at the most successful company in the city.
It seems too good to be true.
Maybe it is.

I’m always up for a stalker romance. So when I saw the hero was a vampire I knew I had to pick it up. This was an okay read for me. The beginning started off good and soon I was waiting for Stephen to come out of the shadows and formally introduce himself.
I’m just going to be honest, Elena was naive AF. But hey, if things started looking up for me I probably would have done the same thing. She could’ve had a little bit more self awareness though.
I liked Stephen and Elena together, but we didn’t get any scenes with them after the conclusion of the drama with his brother. I’m a bit peeved about that. Mentioning his brother, that whole conflict felt forced and it didn’t really end with a bang.
Overall, this was a quick read and made me interested in finishing the book. While it wasn’t a new favorite of mine, I would read more from this author.
This is the first time I have read something by Kenzie Skye and I was not disappointed. She took a vampire story and changed the way we think. Usually it's the humans who lust/ obsess over the vampire but in Stephan and Elena's case it was the opposite.
Stephan has been around a long time, he know what life is about. After all he has experienced it for centuries, yet something has always been missing. One night he needs to feed, so he goes for a woman but when she looks into his eyes he knows he wants her. However, he also knows that he can't turn her into a vampire, she would hate him and that is the last thing he wants from her, so instead he chooses to follow her, learn her every move and read every facial expression. Will Stephan ever come out of hiding to allow Elena to meet him face-to-face? "If only... my mind begins, but I promptly shut those thoughts down." -Stephan (pg. 10)
Elena is a sweet and very innocent human who has had to fight to survive. When she wakes up one morning feeling like something is missing, she begins to feel as if she is losing her mind. She is kind of a loner, hiding out any time she has free time. "And besides, my life is so mundane. I mean, for a woman of my age, I'm really lame. I go to work and I go home." -Elena, (pg. 101) However, the more she begins to feel like someone is watching her, though she never finds anyone, the more her life starts to fall apart. Or does it, is Elena about to get everything she wanted because of a feeling of being watched?
Elena and Stephan are very different from what you expect from a human and vampire but it is definitely a fun and intriging story. One you want to find out what happens, because you won't until the very end. I do want to note there are some grammatical errors but not so bad it is difficult to read. Kenzie did a wonderful job taking something we know and twisting it!
There's a surprising amount of comedy in this one, considering it meant to be a "spicy" vampire tale. I would class this as low on the spice scale but it's entertaining despite that. Stephen ( with a "ph"! ) is suitably dark & brooding, a tortured & disillusioned soul until he catches the scent of a human girl that awakens his inner stalker. His stalking is actually hilarious, not in the least bit menacing. Elena, the object of his obsession, seems oddly cognisant of his presence. Although it's only mentioned briefly, it's pretty obvious that it's fated mates syndrome kicking in. There is a spanner in the works, of course, in the shape of Stephan's brother but this is an HEA so no prizes for guessing who gets the girl!
This is definitely on the cosy side of vamp life (vamp lite?) but what I found most jarring was the dissing of virtually all the time honoured tropes of vampire literature, although Stephen growling "F*cking Hollywood" every time Elena brought something up was very endearing.
If you're after an uber- sexy thrill this certainly isn't for you but if you want mild spice & entertainment it most definitely will be.
Enjoyable read. I've been on a rut lately, reading books that are kind of boring. But this book was exciting and fun to pass the time. I read it quickly. Stephan is an ott vampire obsessed with Elena. At first he stalks her like prey and then he gets totally captivated. He manipulates events so she works for him as his assitant but he keeps his distance until his brother comes to make trouble. I wish it had an epilogue, but it was still good.
Not my cup of tea. Elena, the sweet and innocent 19-year-old virginal heroine is an orphan, alone in the world, barely scraping by as a waitress in New York City. Unbeknownst to her, she becomes the obsession of Stephan, a centuries-old vampire, masquerading as a corporate billionaire by day, and Vampire Lord of NYC by night.
The title reflects the plot perfectly - Stephan literally stalks Elena and causes her to be fired from her job so he can employ her. He sets her up in a luxurious apartment that has hidden cameras in every room, so he can watch over her "to keep her safe".
Elena is completely oblivious for over half the book, then when Stephan's evil brother arrives on the scene and causes trouble, Stephan kidnaps her to his castle in Europe and holds her captive until Stockholm Syndrome fully develops.
After Stephan spends the entire book suffering the angst of not wanting to ruin Elena's life by turning her, when the inevitable occurs, there is no fanfare, no remorse, nothing. Just The End.
This book also needed a bit more editing. A few words were incorrectly used, which doesn't usually bother me, but was noticeable here.
It's a cute story. Not much plot but it is a quick read and I do love those. Missing some of your usual ideas of vampires and that's explained by Hollywood messing that up. LOL
What do you do when your food is so beautiful you can't eat it? You fall in love with it, of course! I loved this book. It had the perfect amount if steam with a great story.
This really did have a great way of building up the relationship before the dramatic ending! It was a really great book and ill be reading more of her books! Enjoy!
I love the way each individual Author interpret what or how a vampire is made of. It really makes books more interesting to see how things are played out. This was a cute story with enough action to keep it interesting till the very end.
It was ok read. I didn't feel connected to the characters. I was sad that Stefan was not very happy that he is vampire. It was cute that the was obsessed with her. It had so much potential but it didn't deliver very much for me.
hello chapter 24, what is going on here?? it is a copy of chapter 23 and I am not the only one with this error apparently. ... so annoying, it ruined the story for me because we skipped some parts of it 😑
Anyhow, I cannot be mad at this book. The story was very well written, and the characters kept me interested. I loved Elena and Stephen. If I could make any complaint about this book, it seemed very rushed at the end. I think there could have been alot more added to the story. Maybe the author was pressed by a deadline? I'm not sure but the story could have been richer.
This was a smooth read. I think if you enjoy the Vampire Diaries series, this will be just like watching an episode.
