Sam Smith Mystery #10

Stardust: A Sam Smith Mystery

Rate this book
Hired by multimillionaire Jeremy Loudon, my task was simple - find his missing briefcase. Loudon claimed that his briefcase held 10,000 pounds, his winnings from a poker game. However, as the trail unravelled and led to Europe my suspicions deepened. What was in Loudon's briefcase, beyond the money? Why was he being so evasive? Why did he insist on no police involvement?

My search for the missing briefcase took me to pimps, pornographers, radical feminists, gun runners, and the Red Light District of Amsterdam.

Meanwhile, my investigation held a mirror to my own life. Loudon had everything - more money than he could spend, a successful business and a beautiful lover. My business was doing well and my marriage offered plenty of love and happiness. Yet, encounters with my Dutch colleagues raised the question - should I ask for more out of life?

Stardust, the story of one woman's dream and my hopes for the future.

Please note, this book runs to 50,000 words.

Love this series and Sam is developing on many levels, especially thinking about her future. She's brilliant at her job (integrity and determined) and is happily married - a husband who accepts her for who she is and what she does; pushing her past where it belongs.

Sam is enlisted to search for a briefcase, taking her to Amsterdam...

There is a great sense of place with just the right amount of description (Wales and Amsterdam). The characters are realistic and Sam's humour is threaded throughout her thought and feelings.

Some tension, suspense and mystery add to a good story, well told.

Highly recommended.

Continued thrills

As the Sam Smith series continues with another thrilling mystery, we also get some lessons about the Netherlands. Along the way Sam starts thinking about running a household and possibly motherhood. The author mixes all this with an intriguing mystery makes a very enjoyable read.

Sam finds trouble again

A less-than-honorable rich man hires Sam to recover a stolen briefcase. He tells her the case contains a lot of cash. Chasing the person who stole the case leads her to Amsterdam, where she gets involved with a number of unsavory characters. Good story!
