Awesome part 1. Hot, fiery, and possessiveness is on point.

I have been a Pauls supporter for over six years and every time she publishes a new book, I get antsy! I love her dark and delicious male characters. They are commanding, and edgy, but a bit sweet too. Uber protective, usually caring, and always smoldering hot.
Her female leads are street-smart and always a bit surprising. I especially love Anya! This girl has skills and sex appeal. Sweet, kind, but not a pushover. Together they are fire!
With the dark edge to this story, we are also embroiled in crime, the raw underbelly of the city, and understanding that you never trust anyone. Especially your “family”.
Pauls has such a way with words and her storytelling that you never want to stop reading. It is always disappointing when having to wait for the next installment but it is so worth it!
This is a 3 book series and Coerced Kiss is a fiery, sexy kickoff! Yummm! Cannot wait for more!

you know it’s good when the H cooks for her, goes out at 3am to satisfy her pregnancy cravings, doesn’t drink coffee or alcohol in front of the heroine who’s pregnant with someone’s else baby because she can’t and is ready to unalive anyone who touches her (even his friends) and he takes care of her and is protective of the baby like his own.

Charmaine Pauls returns with an exciting and highly anticipated brand new trilogy featuring a charismatic and ruthless killer and the wary but naive young woman who threatens his control at every turn. I was completely enthralled by Saverio and Anya's cat and mouse relationship. While this series is not as dark as the
Corsican Crime Lord
series, it is still very much a
dark
romance where the hero will try to threaten and control his heroine. Saverio is incredibly possessive towards Anya and their relationship is one that is morally gray with "touch her and die" vibes. He is keeping her alive for the sake of his "freedom" but his actions often speak louder than words. Like most of the author's heroes, Sav is a contradictory character. Although he can be a cold and cruel sociopath, he can also be incredibly sweet and caring—but only towards Anya. Like a dragon hoarding its most beloved treasure, Anya is Sav's precious treasure and he will stop at nothing to possess and keep her.
In the end, this was an incredible start to Saverio and Anya's story. I loved everything about their relationship and Sav's contradictory nature towards Anya was so addicting to read about. I don't think anybody can ever top Angelo Russo's type of crazy but Saverio De Luca does not play around either. I can't wait to see what Charmaine Pauls has in store for these two, especially with the mysterious key and Anya's life in constant peril. I also want to add that the story has a unique and unconventional trope where the heroine is pregnant prior to meeting the hero. It was heartwarming to read that Saverio thought nothing of it and was still obsessed and overprotective of Anya—going so far as to claiming ownership of her and the baby. Fans of Charmaine Pauls will not want to miss out on this trilogy as it features several incredible tropes such as enemies to lovers, touch her and die, MMC falls first, and fake relationship. I'm so excited to read more of this trilogy and highly recommend it! Saverio and Anya's relationship will absolutely steal your heart.

Good start to the new trilogy New York Underworld by Charmaine Pauls. It's definitely what you would expect from this author for a contemporary mafia romance. It has good character buildup, nice pacing, with a slightly dark edge. Will definitely continue the series.

Holy hotness! Charmaine Pauls has done it again and I’m a sweltering puddle of giddiness because of it.
Saverio is all that I adore in a possessive, over protective hero who doesn’t know he’s in love with the girl. I loved the way he interjected himself into Anya’s life and then pulled her into his. She’s perfect for him even if she isn’t aware of it, yet. I really like seeing them together while neither realizes how they are feeling about the other.
There is a threat of danger right at the edge of Anya and Sav’s relationship and the ebb and flow of it is making me anxious without overdoing it. I can’t wait to see where this author is going to take us and how we’re going to get there. I’m loving everything about this old fashioned alpha, mafia story!

Soon, Anya is living with Sav, his captive in all but chains. But familiarity breeds feelings. Charmaine is so talented with providing her characters with purpose and depth.
While Sav and Anya are surrounded by enough darkness to stifle the soul, between them there is light, a spark that keeps them warm like a determined little ember. Before Anya can get comfortable in the new domesticity she shares with Saverio, things may change yet again to shatter her fragile world.
I really enjoyed the first act of this three part story and can hardly wait to read the next!

I can always count on this author to give me the exact amount of dark that I can handle. She gives you the freedom to push the boundaries without going too far. I can already tell Saverio is going to be one of my favorite anti-heroes. I can’t wait for book two!

It's been a hot minute since I last read a book by Charmaine, and it feels amazing to jump back into the world/universe she created. Charmaine Pauls's mafia romances never misses its mark! When I read her work, I find it incredibly addictive—I devour them, just like I did with this one! I was surprised and loved the little plot twist at the start of the book. Personally, this enhanced the storyline and my reading experience. Coerced Kiss is the first instalment in the New York Underworld series, and this follows Anya (FMC) and Saverio's (MMC) story.
Anya was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and Saverio needs to tie up "loose ends", but an alibi takes precedence. Now an accomplice, Anya will do everything he says to save her life.

'he whispers in a low and dark voice in my ear.' “You’re stuck with me, whether you like it or not.” - Saverio
Ahh... Saverio, Saverio! Lethal and disarming, yet, thoughtful and attentive—Saverio's actions may contraindicate with his dangerous aure and allure, but Anya brings out his softer side. I became so obsessed (and even swooned a bit) with Saverio's tenderness and concern for Anya's wellbeing (he seriously went the extra mile) and his fierce need to protect and take care of her.
Yes, he is a *k*ller* and yes, he *did* threaten Anya (multiple times) and may have told her how he *would* have buried her 😅 Yet when it comes to her, Saverio has his best intentions. That's got to count for something, right?
Saverio desires Anya's submission, to utterly consume her every thought and body, just like she does to him. And don't get me started on his possessiveness! I enjoyed reading Saverio's chapters (inner dialogues): him trying to navigate his emotions, affection and attraction towards Anya.

Can't catch a break Anya's life has been an uphill battle—constantly facing one battle after another. She's desperately trying to make ends meet and needs to get a permanent position at the company she works at.
Anya's life is about to flip: she witnessed an incident, something she shouldn't have seen. Anya might be terrified of Saverio, but (at times) she knew how to stand her ground. The attraction and tension between them and Saverio's considerate nature confused her. But she loved the sense of security and protection Saverio gave her.
“Oh, God. We’re really going to do this.”
“You bet. And yes, I’m going to be your god. You’re going to worship every inch of my c*ck when I come inside you.” - Saverio

Spectacular start to a phenomenal series!
Sav is not a nice man, in fact he is doing monstrous deeds when Anya stumbles upon him in a dark alley. Sav is to silence her forever but finds that act impossible to complete and devises a plan to keep them both safe.
Anya had not had a great life and is carrying a secret from everyone in her life. She does not like Sav’s plan but the other options are deadly.
These characters had me captivated with their story. This story gradually unfolded at a perfect pace. I could not put this book down.
I will patiently waiting for more of this couple’s exciting story ❤️

The first instalment in a new mafia romance trilogy and the beginning of Saverio and Anya's story. It dual POV with an enemies-to-lovers vibe. I enjoyed it so much and I now can't wait for the next part of there journey. Being in the wrong place at the worst time means Anya is thrown head first into danger. Walking home late from her job Anya interrupts and witnesses a murder. Expecting a death sentence instead Saverio De Luca decides to use her as a convenient alibi all whilst holding over her head the threat of harm to those she cares about. Now with a fictitious new boyfriend, Anya has no choice but to dance to his tune as Sav is currently the only thing keeping her alive and breathing.
What begins as a quest for ownership after Anya piques his curiosity and interest swiftly evolves into something else and soon Sav is falling deep under Anya's poignant spell. But with the danger to her intensifying by the day and his attachment growing Sav knows that he's going to have to pull out all of the stops if he wants to keep her safe something he's determined to accomplish.
This was such a good read and easily captured and retained my attention. I love this author's books and this one was an instant hit. Despite the circumstances and there initial rocky and unusual beginning Sav is a complete sweetheart. Yes, he's controlling and bossy and definitely an extremely dangerous individual but the way he takes care of Anya and the lengths and details he paid attention too well it was simply adorable. He's prepared to go to war for her and annihilate anyone who even dares to breathe on her wrong. This one had some major touch her and die vibes which I loved. Sav and Anya also had some delicious chemistry together and their connection crackled with electricity and authenticity. I adored them as a couple but for a smart woman, Anya hasn't got the memo yet that Sav's keeping her.
I now can't wait to continue with this series, too see what happens next and where we go from here. It's obvious the outside danger is intensifying and Sav is constant on high-alert. Highly recommend this or anything this author has written. Her mafia romances always enthrall me instantly and this one was an easy instant hit, well-written and some compulsive reading. I managed to finish it in one sitting. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Coerced kiss.

You guys know the drill, right? I have nothing to say LOL because, well, the story is just starting to build, which is the most crucial moment of any story so I can't tell you anything about the story itself.
However, I can talk about other things ...
✔️ I can't tell the last time I picked up a book and was so transfixed with the story that nothing mattered. I mean, okay, bathroom breaks mattered, but that’s it!
✔️I trust Charmaine’s writing like I’d trust my siblings and/or parents with my life. I don’t think about one-clicking one of her books because she has built that trust for the last 6 years with me. I trusted her with this story blindfolded and she delivered! (seriously, I didn’t even read a teaser lol)
✔️ I was excited and captivated from scene one act one. And it never stopped. The story builds from the beginning and just keeps building. Your guess is as good as mine as to where this is going, AND I AM HERE FOR IT!
That’s all you get from me, and I hope that’s all you get from other reviewers because when it comes to Charmaine the ”beauty of the story is in the details”, as they say (kinda lol) and I wouldn’t want you to know any of those before you begin.
I would be remis if I didn’t tell you that as far as #covers go, this is not winning any points from me and actually it’s a hot mess. LOL Saverio is ”most feared and powerful man in the New York underworld”, did no one think he should have a suit on in the cover or at least a shirt? #fail :(

Anya and Sav’s story is certainly a unique one. From page one til the very end the intrigue pulled you in and kept you hooked throughout. The characters each portray their intended role well and the plot is something that gets all the brains cog wheels turning wondering what is going to happen next. Beware and brace for a cliff hanger as this is Book one and will leave you primed and ready for the coming Book 2.

This breath stealing and attention-grabbing book has me completely captivated and consumed by Anya and Saverio's story. Drama, tension, intensity, darkness, steam, twists, emotions and feels are skillfully crafted into a tantalizing and seductive web that entices you in and tangles you in so tightly that you won't just be craving the next book, you'll desperately need it.

When I first started reading this book I knew I was in for a wild ride. This is a theme when reading Charmaine Paul’s books! However a wild ride is nothing!!!! This book starts off with you feeling bad for the young and innocent, super intelligent Anaya. However, her story is literally just beginning.
Set in New York the author has managed to capture the very essence of the city. As a New Yorker I could picture the exact streets exact as the author wrote it and exactly how it is.
It took me back to the nights I would spend dancing away in the clubs the city had to offer! Late night avoid alleys and dark streets!
As Anaya is a witness those few moments of time determine her life. It is apart of a series, it does end on a cliffhanger! So be prepared!
But the series is tired up very nicely after taking you a whiplashing journey.

In this first book in the New York Underworld trilogy, we meet Anya and Saverio. They meet in an unusual and disturbing fashion, but it becomes the crux of the story.
Poor Anya has not had a good life by anyone’s definition, but she’s really found herself in hot water this time. I genuinely like Anya. She is such a survivor, and her determination helps to keep her going. Her friend, Lily, is also a wonderful person whose support has been enormous.
As Anya found out, Saverio is not a person to trifle with. However, he finds himself instantly attracted to Anya, which shocks his system, as he thinks his equipment might have become faulty. 😄 Well, it’s not really funny, but the way it’s presented there is humour evident. It is just one of the emotions experienced when reading this story, but an important one as it adds a touch of light to the darker tones.
Being one of the main players for Mafia boss Luigi Bianchi, Saverio often finds his job description entails killer and torturer. This is not something Anya wants anything to do with, but what’s a girl to do? Both feel the physical chemistry between them and although Anya tries to deny it, that’s a tough order when your body betrays you.
The background mystery of what will happen to Anya and another about her boss keeps things interesting. I love it when Saverio stands up for Anya, seeing as she has had such little support during her twenty-three years on Earth.

In this first book in the New York Underworld trilogy, we meet Anya and Saverio. They meet in an unusual and disturbing fashion, but it becomes the crux of the story.
Poor Anya has not had a good life by anyone’s definition, but she’s really found herself in hot water this time. I genuinely like Anya. She is such a survivor, and her determination helps to keep her going. Her friend, Lily, is also a wonderful person whose support has been enormous.
As Anya found out, Saverio is not a person to trifle with. However, he finds himself instantly attracted to Anya, which shocks his system, as he thinks his equipment might have become faulty. 😄 Well, it’s not really funny, but the way it’s presented there is humour evident. It is just one of the emotions experienced when reading this story, but an important one as it adds a touch of light to the darker tones.
Being one of the main players for Mafia boss Luigi Bianchi, Saverio often finds his job description entails killer and torturer. This is not something Anya wants anything to do with, but what’s a girl to do? Both feel the physical chemistry between them and although Anya tries to deny it, that’s a tough order when your body betrays you.
The background mystery of what will happen to Anya and another about her boss keeps things interesting. I love it when Saverio stands up for Anya, seeing as she has had such little support during her twenty-three years on Earth.

Anya and Saverio are fire together. Anya is smart, sassy , stubborn and fierce. She's brain disguised behind a fairy beauty and innocent looks but she has a steel backbone and a few unusual skills. And she's perfect for Saverio, because this Irish fairy is a match for that passionate Italian. What can I say Coerced Kiss is a dark mafia romance with equal parts of steaming hot romance and breathtaking suspense. Anya and Saverio have a deadly meet when she's at the wrong place and time and is seeing what she's not supposed to see. And Saverio is fast in thinking on the go so now they are in this together. Saverio might be a cold blooded killer for the mafia but he has his sets of rules and laws and has a strong moral compass in the grey zone he lives. I was amazed of his caring and responsible side when it comes to Anya and her needs. She may think she's his alibi but for him she's more than that. For her he's a cinnamon roll with an edge. I will say it only once - that tomato errand he run in the middle of the night melt my heart . Around him she's in constant need to be better and bolder and she still can surprise him . And they both need to be at the top of their game so they can navigate the complexity of the mafia politics. They both have analytical skills that gave them the advantage of a few steps ahead. So far I'm convinced that Anya is the queen this king was waiting for. The next book in the New York Underworld series won't come soon enough .

I love this dark mafia story, filled with excitement, unexpected twists and turns, and plenty of heat.
The story is told from the alternating points of view of the two main characters. Anya has a mundane life, which is abruptly interrupted when she becomes an accidental witness to some nefarious mafia business. And Saverio is a kingpin in the New York underworld.
Anya and Saverio come from vastly different worlds, but a chance encounter turns everything on its head. Anya is such a great heroine; she is strong and resilient, having survived a difficult childhood, and Saverio is a swoon-worthy, unapologetic anti-hero.
In addition, to the two protagonists , there are also a number of other interesting side-characters. I particularly loved Livy; Anya’s surrogate mother.
This is an absolute must read, and a really brilliant start to a new, three book series. Fortunately, the whole series will be available by the start of December 2024, so there’s not long to wait to discover what will happen to this mismatched couple…. I devoured this story. Charmaine knows how to write her morally grey men. Anya is at the wrong place and the wrong time and is witness to something she can’t forget. Sav goes to do what he needs to do but things don’t go the way he planned. Now thrust into something she doesn’t want to be a part of with a man who she doesn’t know and is dangerous she must do what she needs to in order to survive. This is another page turner that Charmaine has delivered to us and I’m so dying to know what happens next. Sav has more on the line than he’d like to admit and he isn’t going to let Anya go and she is starting to feel things she shouldn’t. I was hooked on the book and I need book 2 like yesterday. I know Charmaine will deliver a trilogy that you will read over and over. I can’t wait for more of this world.

Poor Anya was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught! Being chased down and then coerced into lies to save those she cares about is one thing, but it's turning into a lot more than that when the man literally injects himself into every aspect of her life.
Saverio has made moves to be sure that Anya doesn't talk. He is turning into her stalker and he isn't ashamed about that one bit.The more he learns about her, the more his feelings turn to protective and possessive.
I LOVE SAVERIO! 🖤 Coerced Kiss was absolutely EVERYTHING. The excitement of the suspense, the angst, the tension, and spicy connection was all there in the feels, and I can not wait to read more of Saverio and Anya's story in Coerced Wife and Coerced Queen. Yay!

This is the first book of Anya and Saverio's story in the New York Underworld trilogy. Anya becomes and alibi for Sav when she caught him murdering her hr boss for stealing money from the mafia family he works for. Sav is sort of an enforcer. He becomes enamored with Anya and makes sure she is under his protection. When he learns a secret of hers he becomes even more obsessed and overprotective so that he forces them into a fake relationship but end up developing into more. But there is danger out there that wants rid of Anya. This one went pretty fast and I look forward to more.

Coerced Kiss by Charmaine Pauls is the First book in the New York Underworld Series. This is the story of Anya and Saverio. Anya hasn't had a easy time of it but now she has witness something she shouldn't have. Saverio is a person that is called in to take people out and one job leaves a witness. Saverio is instantly attracted to Anya and in stead of doing the same to her he ends up making moves that will have her being kept safe for now. This was a hot entertaining read. I highly recommend Ms. Pauls books. I can't wait for more from this series.

Pauls does it again with this dark mafia romance based in NYC. Anya is leaving work late one night when she happens upon Saverio, and becomes a witness and his alibi. As he takes control over her life to keep himself free, their relationship evolves thanks to the attraction they both feel. Book 1 in the series wasn’t too dark, but you know that means Paul will ratchet up everything a few notches in book 2 and I’m ready.

Hello everyone, I need a good dark Mafia romance recommendation. One with good plot, the FMC isn't entirely poor, the FMC is powerless yet smart and can make smart decisions. And by smart, I mean not falling for the MC who is a killer and trapped her, while giving her breadcrumbs of freedom. Maybe Authors should start writing realistic books and stop feeding cringe, unrealistic story to their readers. If at all you want it to be unrealistic, still make it realistic? CAUSE tell me WHY ALL MAFIA ROMANCE BOOKS ARE LIKE THIS?!
It's becoming concerning. It's either she caught him killing someone and she's dirt poor with a horrible past and the MC uses it to trap her, OR she's a rude rich princess that's forced to marry the MC, OR she's a weak, vulnerable princess that's forced to marry the MC just because. Can't it be something else? Like maybe, she saw the murder, he came for her and decided to keep her, and she DOESN'T MAKE IT EASY FOR HIM. She fights and plans, and is smart, and doesn't start fucking offering to please him just because he made her feel good. Are you out of your mind?!! This man literally threatened your loved ones, he threatened you, he forces you to do things, he forces your body to bend to his will! How shameless can you be? Just because he cooks, buy clothes, cover your bills and treats you like a princess while threatening you all the time? Give me a break 🙄🙄. The way the FMC bent over for him while asking stupid questions made me cringe. Like Ew girl, just say you want him and want to get dicked by him. Don't prolong everything and beat around the bush.
Same storyline, same annoying characters with the female characters so annoying and cringe and always jealous WITHOUT a valid reason! Like please, give me a good Mafia romance book😭😭😭. Ughhhhhh.
As for the MC, I like him. Not because he threatened her and all that, but because when he says he's smart and valuable, that's what he is. You can read how smart and mafia coded he is. The FMC just annoyed me fr, I was patiently waiting for her to do something impressive. All she did was argue for 5secs and then bend over all In the name of protecting myself and the baby when you know he won't hurt you at all😂😂🙄.
Will I read book 2? Yes, because it ended in a cliffhanger. Will I drop book 2 if it becomes annoying? Yes, I would drop it faster than Sav threats to the FMC Everytime she acts like a baby. Anyway, I will always be a sucker for obsessed MC, so let's give a half round of applause to the Author for not making the obsession so annoying and disgusting. At least he gave her some freedom......🙄
